[Q]Vodafone branded HTC Touch Diamond - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

Hello friendly people!
I got a sweet HTC Touch Diamond this x-mas.
However I want to flash it to MightyRom or Juicy.
The point is, my phone is Vodafone branded and all of you are talking about Telus, Sprint, etc.
I quote from the MightyROM topic:
"Compatibility List: TELUS, Bell, Sprint, Alltel"
Does this mean my phone could crash if I try unlocking and flashing it?
Also, how far can I go without loosing my warranty?
Thank you in advance

You should be asking this in those threads. I myself cant help you cuz im not sure.
Research And if your not sure and dont want to take a risk then DONT DO IT!!
If your comfortable with unlocking your phone and not sure about cooked ROMS. Id recommend installing the official 2.03 ROM that's if you don't have it already since you got if in Dec. But if you don't its a big improvement over the 1.93
As far as warranty. You would be Voiding it rite from the start by unlocking it.

but on the german vodafone-homepage i could only load the 1.97 version.
know somebody when the vodafone rom comes out. i also don't want to loose my warrenty.
could i install the orginal rom from htc??
i don't want to try something with changing the bootloader or so.
(btw: how bad is my english?? )

I just flashed my Vodafone branded HTC Touch Diamond to Duttys!
With great success.
For all the other Vodafone users:
HTC Touch Diamond (DIAM100)
Vodafone branded
Vodafone SIM
Phone bought in The Netherlands.
Software/methods used:
Unsigned HardSPL-1.40 OliNex
Custom RUU
Radio 1.00.25.05
Duttys 5.2.20764.1.4.3_V4_Full_MSVC [2.03]
I did all of this with success using this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211
Enjoy flashing
P.S. Do not blame me if your phone, for some reason, does get bricked!

Is Cingular 8525 == Hermes?

Hi,
I'm looking into buying Cingular 8525 and unlocking it. I don't see Cingular 8525 written in description for this forum so I'm not sure if it's right place to ask questions.
Here is questions.
1. If I unlock the phone and then download and install official ATT WM6 upgrade, will it relock the phone?
2. Is it ok to use HTC WWE ROM on my phone or it might not work becouse of original branding?
Yes the Cingular/AT&T 8525 is the Hermes.
As for unlocking.. Good luck.. I just got mine 3 weeks ago and discovered that it had already been upgraded to a boot loader that can not be unlocked at this time.
I don't think upgrading the rom to WM6 will re lock the phone.
Not sue on the second part about the WWE rom.
yes it is. I have one.
1. no it won't relock the phone. But read mr vanx guide and wiki before unlock and upgrade. also it is adviced that you install hardspl 2.10 or above.
2. HTC WWE ROM will work only issue might come to you is the keyboard layout which can be fixed if you do little search.

8525 equals Hermes. Unlocking your device may void any warranty you have. You should only use ROMs made for the Hermes which you will find in this forum.

Agree with all of the above comments, with the exception of this one... Loading a non OEM rom, WILL void your warranty... However, many members have been able to successfully reflash with an OEM rom before taking it back to the providers and having any warranty action performed... So, if you need to have your device repaired under the terms of your warranty, you would need to reflash to the OEM version or they will send it back to you unrepaired...
The needed file for fixing the keyboard translation issue is called Cingular Keyboard Fix... a simple google search on this forum should locate it for you... Or you can install another application called "Schaps Advanced Configuration Tool v1.1 (recommended)... In this tool, you can choose your keyboard layout as Cingular...
"Schap's Advanced Configuration Tool" would have been hard to find with a Typo...^^
but please READ MR VANX GUIDE!!! PLEASE!!!
This post will also lead you to all the info you'll need about locking/unlocking, flashing ROM's, etc.
Cheers,

Does this mean my Excalibur is BRANDED for T-Mobile???

I bought my Excalibur from a carrier in Mexico called Movistar, but, as I explored the USB settings on Windows when my Excalibur was plugged, I found that the device appeared connected with the following name:
High Tech Computer - SPV C400 / T-Mobile SDA GSM / GPRS Pocket PC
Does this mean that my Excalibur is officialy branded for T-Mobile???
If so, a T-Mobile original RUU would work to flash my Excalibur right???
Could you post a rapidshare link for T-Mobile's original ROM???
I'm desperate, I bricked my phone and I can only get it back by flashing it with the original ROM, please, hurry and anwer!!! I BEG YOU!!

Doesn't tmobile ask for the IMEI number before you can download upgrade?
is wm 6 from tmobile ok?
i have wm 6 upgrade from tmobile if that helps. Not sure how to get it to you
e-mail
[email protected]
But the one I really need is the original 1.15.517.1 that came with my Excalibur...
...I tried a TMO US WM6 ROM but no luck... anyway, I'll take whatever help you can provide!!
Appreciate it!
Tip
velascoperroni if I were you I would just return the phone already. You might want to just accept defeat.
You screwed yourself by flashing a WM5 to a WM6.1 rom before flashing to a WM6. From what I read you must have been impatient or somehow your usb cord unplugged itself during the middle of a flash of the HTC WM6 1.33 rom. It's now stuck and a brick. I've read more posts like this than I can remember. The golden rule to modding is doing a backup before you do anything. Sprite mobile would have been the way to go. Especially with your not so easy to find original rom. I'm not trying to be harsh or mean but lesson learned. Now go return your phone while you still can.
Best regards...
NOOOOO!!!
I will never give up!!!
No, really, I'm seriously considering it... In fact there was a problem with the USB connection when I was flashing it!
Yeah, I should have backed up my original ROM, but to be honest, it never crossed my mind (I didn't even knew about it or how to)
Today I wen't to Movistar and they gave me several HTC service centers here in Mexico, I suposse they may have the original ROM and they may get it fixed but I'm afraid technichians here in Mexico won't have a clue (it has happened to me before that they have no clue and I know more than them for just what I read in the forums, i.e. xbox modding)
Also, I'm worried I voided my warranty... Today I told Movistar about nothing, I just asked for the service centers addresses. What could be a good excuse? "I was listening to music while bluethooting and playing solitarie and it went blank"?
Now, there may be one last way to go: You mentioned sprite mobile for backing up the original ROM, is it too intrusive and/or hard? I can get a hold of a friend's Movistar Excalibur to backup his ROM and use it on mine (it's exactly the same) but I don't wanna screw his phone up and end up with two bricks (specially because he really is a friend of a friend). Is there a tutorial around here? would you (or some other helpfull reader) post it on this thread?
Last but not least, I want to thank everyone that has tried to help, besides a bricked Excalibur I got great knowledge about CID, upgrading, flashing, phone carriers, etc. Three days ago I had no idea and I thought upgrading to WM6 would be a piece of cake! I hope all my posts and your answers would be helpfull for al noobs around with problems alike!
Nonetheless everything posted above: If someone has a 1.15.517.1 original ROM from Movistar or T-Mobile or O2... please, pleaaaase.. I BEG: send it to [email protected]

New T Mobile NLD Rom Update

Here is the link to the new MDA Compact IV Rom from T Mobile in NLD ver 1.93.1142.nld radio 1.0025.16
http://www.t-mobile.nl/persoonlijk/htdocs/page/service-contact/software-updates/mda.aspx
And STILL not available from T-Mobile UK!
What's the changes? Worth flashing? I use Tmobile but never did any of their roms, got an unbranded device...

seeing as you use a T-mobile MDA IV NL like I do, can you tell me what the original HardSPL is ?
I need to reflash mine so I can send it back for repairs (bluetooth not working properly anymore), I flashed the above mentioned rom using the quick method (copy to internal storage) so I now have an original T-mobile rom and radio but the HardSPL still is not original.
Technically it should not matter for warranty but I would rather not take any risks and also restore the HardSPL, I just have no idea which one it is (1.34, 1.35, 1.93 from the SPL thread here on xda ?)

Restoring your MDA IV back to tmobile defaults is a bit tricky. You beter use the new rom update, a new SPL should be in the ROM (in the Chech version it was). I used the Chech ROM to resore my tmobile picture and used SPL 1.37, ROM 1.37 and radio 1.00.25.03. All of these can be found in the forum.

Well,
I've used custom roms all the way from dutty's to leo's... LAst week i've flashed the new t-mobile rom. I must say it is very stable and with a few tweaks it is a very good rom.
I did this flash because always with a custom rom there was something i didn't like or didn't work. The feeling i have from this rom (I'm also on the t-mo network of course) is that this one must be tested with the best settings and the best radio for this network... because i need an stable phone.

so the Chech ROM also replaced your HardSPL, which you then replaced again with SPL 1.37 ?
(why replace the HardSPL again ?)
I guess I will round up a windows PC and reflash using the the rom update .exe and see if my HardSPL gets replaced.
(I kind of asumed the HardSPL never gets updated with a rom update, hence my confusion)
Shame there isnt a way to update the HardSPL without a windows PC
Should the HardSPL not get replaced by the update I can safely use the 1.37 version from xda ?
I am useing this rom at the moment and it is very good and very stable and very fast rom.
With other roms i had problems that my phone wouldn't wakeup anymore and needed to softreset it. With this rom so far i do not have the problem.
Ofcause i only use it for 2 days so far but i will let you know how it will be after a while. For the problem that the phone does not wakeup anymore with other roms i had that problem after 1 day already so i think the t-mobile diamond is differend then the real HTC diamond.
Only the t-mobile colors are terrible but there are enough themes and skins to change it to what you want.

Did your HardSPL get updated too when you updated your rom ?
If no which HardSPL do you have now (if it is the original that is) ?
I run 1.40 olinex, it says wrong device ID.
?
I have original DIamond, is that problem?
I made a new rom which will work on DIAMxxxxx (all) diamonds.
It's full 143mb (including SPL and RADIO, so Stock, only diam200 is removed).
IF interested I put online. Made with Olinex nbh thing,
same problem here

Sounds great. So this includes a stock signed spl?
It is 100% the same rom, and you will not get the Device_id error.
T-mobile service-desk WILL see this is not original T-mobile rom I think because ROM name is not the same (T-mobile instead of 1.93.blabal).
sms problem
Help, I flashed this new t-mobile ROM and now I an't send SMS. They stay in postvak uit. In tried flashing another radio and settings in comm manager. But nothing happends.
Try this, I had the same problem with several other roms.
Thank you very much. I tried it and after a softreset it is possible to send SMS now.
REmoved the rom.
It's really too slow
Sorry to bump this one, but does the t mobile NL rom update the SPL to stock?

The new HTC Rom and T-Mobile Compact IV

I would like to install the new Feb 09 ROM from HTC. My Compact IV is from last August and Im just so fed up with the slowness and reception... but I dont want to brick it as I still have a year contract left (thats why never cooked anything) however I feel I could trust the ROM straight from HTC(?) This also seems to pretty straight forward to do.
...but Please let me know
- Is the installer 'PDA Phone ROM Update Utility 3.27.4.3' that comes with it safe to use?
- No need to hardSPL etc.. stuff?
- Will there be any issue as Compact IV is locked to T-Mobile?
Appreciate help... love my compact IV!!
Just to add to my post
I used the S/N in the other thread: ht824gn13492 to download the ROM from HTC. HTC didnt allow to do it with Compact IV's S/N. I hope thats ok... Think the ROM version downloaded is 2.03.405.3.
Thanks
...
I have compact IV too and I am using 2.03 roms (htc and cooked) without problems. You need hardspl to flash these roms (i have olinex 1.93). And I recomend you to flash rom by internal method. Good luck
What do you mean with 'internal method'?
And even if install straight from HTC, still need hardSPL?
Thanks!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2707841&postcount=4035
Read this about flashing from internal storage.Mainly the second paragraph. And I thing that you need hardspl for any other rom except tmobile stock one.
I hope that will help you
hardspl
Thanks for your help. Just one more question: does your last comment mean T-mobile original ROM doesnt require hardSLP. Or better I install it anyway?
Thanks!!
Yes.Only (Tmobile CZ in my case)stock rom from your mobile operator
copilot
I think I will try install straight the official HTC ROM. I read somewhere else thread if updating official ROm you shouldnt use any HardSPL(?) Im not exp with this, and dont want to risk my phone...
I wonder will this affect the Copilot 7 installed by T-Mobile? i know its on the interanl memory (4GB) but were some parts in the phones memory that will be wiped away? dont want to loose it!!!
you cannot install the Official HTC ROM without HardSPL is what gajdik means.
Because your phone is T-Mobile branded (like mine) you can ONLY install T-Mobile ROMS, all others will fail (even official htc roms), to bypass this you must hardspl
Thanks... understand now.
What about Copilot, will I loose it? (does it have something in registry etc that will disable it, as the ROM is not from T-mobile?)
thanks

Yes this is what i mean
I have preinstaled tomtom 7 by tmobile and it works after rom update. But I am not sure about copilot...
Hi all,
I'm new to all this. I've got hold of the new HTC Rom that I want to put on my Compact IV, but can anyone give me a version of Hard SPL to use?
I can't seem to get any of the versions i've found so far to work!
Thanks in advance!
What version of stock rom do you have? And what versions of hardspl you tried?
I've got 1.37.110.3 WWE (the standard one that came from T-Mobile) and i'm trying to flash 2.03.405.3 (the feb 09 update from the HTC website)
I think i've managed to get the Olinex Hard SPL 1.30 onto the phone, but can't seem to make any progress.
Try upgrade to tmobile stock 1.93 rom and then try 1.93OliNex_HSPL_Unsigned from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2312363&postcount=2
This works for me

HTC TOUCH PRO 2 ON TELSTRA - Help Required

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me out with detailed instructions.
I am faily new to the world of PDA's and smart phones.
I just bought HTC touch Pro 2 from Telstra. Its all customised with Telstra/Bigpond.
My question is how can I remove Telstra customisation completely from the phone?
FYI,
Device Information.
Rom Version: 1019.841.3 (51489) WWE
Rom Date: 06/04/2009
Radio Version: 3.44.25.27
Windows 6.1
Your help would be highly appreciated. Also, could you please provide complete steps for the solution you provide.
Thanks for your help
Nothing much you can do. You can flash a custom ROM if you want to totally remove Telstra stuff.
Having said that there are some good stuff in Telstra ROM. Free web browsing to certain sites (BigPond, Sensis, Yellow Pages, Trading Post, etc.....) And there are free apps like WhereIs where the data download is not counted towards your usage. And there are 2 free apps Jetcet Print and Jetcet Presenter. The former for printing directly from phone and the latter for creating/editing Powerpoint slides.
But if you don't want any of these, you can always flash a custom ROM of your choice.
Yep just flash a custom rom simple
If you don't mind me asking, did you buy the phone outright or on a plan?
If outright, how much did you pay?
i'd like to get rid of the the telstra things too
phrak, i just bought mine yesterday at harvey norman, it was $1479 outright and with extended warranty (ex wty was 99)

Well you can always flash a cooked ROM if you like. I haven't yet as I'm quite happy with the Telstra ROM. I don't like the purple color theme so I installed another theme. I am quite happy with what I have got so far. Would wait for Telstra WM6.5 upgrade and see if it is any good.
You can manually remove Telstra items by editing registry
Check this forum.

Touch Pro 2 Sprint on NextG
Hi I just got a Touch Pro 2 Sprint CDMA GSM version from the USA. I know you'd probably wonder why but because it has the inbuilt 3.5mm headphone jack. I unlocked everything on the phone and changed the radio to the 2.05.00WU (USCC test edited) version, changed the ROM to try the 6.5.3 energy rom. I know the phone supports CDMA 850. But aren't sure if it's now possible to get it to work on NextG.
Is anyone able to confirm if it's possible? I think it runs on the CDMA2000 1X 1900/800 band. And from what I've been reading it mightn't support the 2100 band, so mightn't be able to get it to work at all.
I'd like one with the headphone jack but like the keyboard also. Don't really want a Touch HD2 thought they would be alright with the 1Ghz CPU.
My problem is the Telstra Next g version is a Rhod110, not Rhod100. This means that when attempting to put Hard SPL on my brand new toy it comes up with a "fatal error"... No way am I gonna try putting a new rom on without Hard SPL... Soft SPL just freezes the whole thing and the only fix is to pull the battery...
Its also a different series from the other touch pro 2 available, 7381, not 7373...
Guess I'm stuck with the bloated stock rom until Telstra releases a wm6.5 rom or a new Hard SPL or Soft SPL are conjured up....
Downloaded the file enablerapinew.cab, able to flash Hard SPL... SWEET....
I have the same problem !
Hi there, it sounds like Im in the same boat as you are or were... I also have a RHOD110 from Telstra but I want to upgrade it to win 6.5 and I'm just not sure which ROM will be applicable a) for this model or b) for the Australia service (3g)
I wonder did you manage to get this sorted out and would you be kind enough to give me any info that may help from your own experence ?

Download & install enablerpinew.cab. You should then be able to Hard SPL.. I also have Rhod110 from Telstra.
Next G works fine, its a hardware feature so it will always pick up Next G, but you may need to get the GPRS settings from Telstra and manually input them.
Use Manual Hard SPL if auto doesn't work, just need to install enablerpinew.cab 1st, and only once... After that any rom works finre...
Cheers...

I have an import RHOD100 that I bought SH. I have Flashed it with both the Aus Telstra Roms and neither seems to access 3G signal. Does this mean the phone physically cant or is there something else I can do???
FYI it actually gets better coverage than my Snap did and that was a telsta phone. But I dont know what the coverage will be like further out of town.
Im running:
1.86.710.3 WWE Rom
4.49.25.17
RHOD100
T7373
i myself want an RHOD110 because of the fact it is the AU model :/
