Here is the link to the new MDA Compact IV Rom from T Mobile in NLD ver 1.93.1142.nld radio 1.0025.16
http://www.t-mobile.nl/persoonlijk/htdocs/page/service-contact/software-updates/mda.aspx
And STILL not available from T-Mobile UK!
What's the changes? Worth flashing? I use Tmobile but never did any of their roms, got an unbranded device...

seeing as you use a T-mobile MDA IV NL like I do, can you tell me what the original HardSPL is ?
I need to reflash mine so I can send it back for repairs (bluetooth not working properly anymore), I flashed the above mentioned rom using the quick method (copy to internal storage) so I now have an original T-mobile rom and radio but the HardSPL still is not original.
Technically it should not matter for warranty but I would rather not take any risks and also restore the HardSPL, I just have no idea which one it is (1.34, 1.35, 1.93 from the SPL thread here on xda ?)

Restoring your MDA IV back to tmobile defaults is a bit tricky. You beter use the new rom update, a new SPL should be in the ROM (in the Chech version it was). I used the Chech ROM to resore my tmobile picture and used SPL 1.37, ROM 1.37 and radio 1.00.25.03. All of these can be found in the forum.

Well,
I've used custom roms all the way from dutty's to leo's... LAst week i've flashed the new t-mobile rom. I must say it is very stable and with a few tweaks it is a very good rom.
I did this flash because always with a custom rom there was something i didn't like or didn't work. The feeling i have from this rom (I'm also on the t-mo network of course) is that this one must be tested with the best settings and the best radio for this network... because i need an stable phone.

so the Chech ROM also replaced your HardSPL, which you then replaced again with SPL 1.37 ?
(why replace the HardSPL again ?)
I guess I will round up a windows PC and reflash using the the rom update .exe and see if my HardSPL gets replaced.
(I kind of asumed the HardSPL never gets updated with a rom update, hence my confusion)
Shame there isnt a way to update the HardSPL without a windows PC
Should the HardSPL not get replaced by the update I can safely use the 1.37 version from xda ?
I am useing this rom at the moment and it is very good and very stable and very fast rom.
With other roms i had problems that my phone wouldn't wakeup anymore and needed to softreset it. With this rom so far i do not have the problem.
Ofcause i only use it for 2 days so far but i will let you know how it will be after a while. For the problem that the phone does not wakeup anymore with other roms i had that problem after 1 day already so i think the t-mobile diamond is differend then the real HTC diamond.
Only the t-mobile colors are terrible but there are enough themes and skins to change it to what you want.

Did your HardSPL get updated too when you updated your rom ?
If no which HardSPL do you have now (if it is the original that is) ?
I run 1.40 olinex, it says wrong device ID.
?
I have original DIamond, is that problem?
I made a new rom which will work on DIAMxxxxx (all) diamonds.
It's full 143mb (including SPL and RADIO, so Stock, only diam200 is removed).
IF interested I put online. Made with Olinex nbh thing,
same problem here

Sounds great. So this includes a stock signed spl?
It is 100% the same rom, and you will not get the Device_id error.
T-mobile service-desk WILL see this is not original T-mobile rom I think because ROM name is not the same (T-mobile instead of 1.93.blabal).
sms problem
Help, I flashed this new t-mobile ROM and now I an't send SMS. They stay in postvak uit. In tried flashing another radio and settings in comm manager. But nothing happends.
Try this, I had the same problem with several other roms.
Thank you very much. I tried it and after a softreset it is possible to send SMS now.
REmoved the rom.
It's really too slow
Sorry to bump this one, but does the t mobile NL rom update the SPL to stock?

I tried to upgrade my dutch mda pro to the new qtek 9000 rom after I had upgraded to the new english t-mobile mda pro rom.
He wil start i an calibrate and al that and then you get the customisation and after that reset and he starts again and you must calibrate again enzo....
But after two or three times you get the message DEVICELOCK
you have got this rom illegally
what do I do??? More important how do I get my mda pro working again with t-mobile rom??
And yes I did follow the instructions on upgrading using the bootloader principle.....
Any news on this problem? I haven't tried the update, yet, but would of course hate it to get this error...
Yes, you have downloaded the wrong ROM. with that lock in it.
Try another one.

Any other will do. Just try it.
I think this one is the best because it the first and only one that support AKU2 and A2DP:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/UNI_QTEK_13077_176_10900_WWE_Ship.exe
I do not think the roms on xda-developers ftp site are locked.
Maybe the device itself is locked.
Did dadio22 flash with this UNI_QTEK_13077_176_10900_WWE_Ship.exe rom?
This rom is not locked.

I had one rom on the xda ftp server that had this devicelock.
Ehm it has simlock on it still but I used the new qtek rom(UNI_QTEK_WWE_13077_130176_10900_WWE_Ship) that was available on xda but I got it to work changed the provider to t-mobile and updated it again and it works again. But I don't think it works alright have got a few errors which I didn't have with the new t-mobile uk update.
Does anybody know what causes this because if it happens a lot more I think I want that t-mobile rom back. Is that possible because I think it would be a downgrade.....
wel to be honest, its a newproblem , ive never heard about ti before, as far as i know, u should ve had the Country ID error, rom locks and stuff, are to be detected through the uploader utility, but after you install it sucessfully on the system u get such an error, ik durf niet te zeggen dat ik iets over dit problem ooit heb gehoord

wow! this is the first time i've read about a device that's got locked due to an upgrade. i don't have a qtek (it's from the stingy '3' right?? ) but i've flashed several UK's m5000 and one S'pore's Dopod using every available Rom, including qtek's (just to see the differences) with no probs except countryID error on dopod. which i solved by unlocking it with Buzz's Uni_unlock program to make Super CID unlock (even tho' it is a factory sim and network unlock device but just from another region/country).
As thereis only one latest rom release that i know of (from Orange), i am sure all the roms available here and at buzzdev.net has no device lock. i guess the problem could lie with your bootloader version. if it's not BL 1.00 or 1.01 why not change it to these first bfor flashing other roms.
other than that it must be hardware related which is unlikely as the device is made by htc and only renamed qtek, and for qtek to change or tinker with it could infringe on htc's copyright.
It was only the qtek rom i had trouble with. No need for that now since the new AKU 3 rom came out. Worked Great
Maybe a stupid question...
I've used the search function, but dit not find any related article about my question.
Question:
Is it possible to install and run one of the HTC Diamond ROMs on this forum on a T-Mobile MDA Compact IV (the HTC Diamond from T-Mobile) or will this be the end of the MDA?
I read that the hardware of the MDA is the same as the Diamond, but that doesn't answer the question. Maybe someone already succeeded with installing and running a HTC Diamond ROM on the MDA.
Thanks for the answers!
I am new to flashing ROMs and have been reading the forums here to try and work out how to do it.
As far as I am aware, yes you can flash any ROM to your device. I believe you will need something called Hard SPL - and your updated ROM.
Still not sure what 'Radios' are though lol...
Yes it is possible to install htc roms on mda compact 4 because it is basically the same device, not 100% same but you can use all software from the diamond on your device. But read below the important things.
HARD SPL IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO INSTALL OTHERWISE YOU WILL BRICK / DAMAGE YOUR DEVICE. CLICK HERE FOR LINK
2ND- you can choose an updated/cooked rom. whichever you like and follow the instruction given to flash basically simillar to hard spl.
From what I can work out I need the signed Hard SPL for ROMs which have been 'checked' and unsinged for anything else.
Can anyone shed any light on why I would need to flash a 'radio'?
OK! All of the stock Roms include the radio and most of the cooked Roms include one. But the radio is the software that allows your device to function as a phone/communications device. It is the GSM/GPRS/EDGE/3G/... communicator. So you will definitely want the radio ROM. If the radio is not included in the ROM that you flash, you can always flash the radio ROM by itself afterward (or before).
So did any of you manage to flash a Diamond ROM to MDA Compact?
I'm contemplating grabbing a German MDA unit and trying to flash a Diamond WWE into it.
Any suggestions?
yes it works fine.. as long as you carefully read and follow the steps you will be fine.
My mda compact 4 works well with 1.00.25.07 radio and rom which one you use of personal preference.. need to try a few and see which one you like.
I've just applied HardSPL 1.40 and the TLR Diamond Rom v3 to my UK T-mobile MDA Compact IV, no problems at all.
Applying this seems to have increased the amount of internal main storage to the same as the Diamond. as I understand it, the difference between the Diamond and the compact IV is the internal memory (not the 4Gb).
The Compact IV has 96mb for storage and the Diamond 128mb. This shows up as more like 117mb of usable on mine now i've flashed it, up from about 85mb.
Maybe someone else can confirm there's also increased, or is it a false reading?
The compact IV and diamond are identical. Only the shape is different. The reason why mda has less storage in ram is due to the crap tmobile put on.
flashed my MDA with the latest HTC ROM .. works perfectly .. didnt checked the rom
I'm also considering upgrading my stock UK T-Mobile MDA IV rom and really the only thing I'm worried about is that once done I won't have the correct settings to connect to the internet, etc. Are these settings retained? In other words will I be able to use my phone as normal straight after upgrading the ROM and/or radio?
Those settings are the least of your worries, they can be easily re-added.
Just to clarify, I'm not talking about general internet preferences (like font size, homepage and all that) but the settings t-mobile set for the phone to connect to their network (and GPRS, SMS, 3G network settings). For instance if I go into 'Connections' in the settings it says "T-Mobile Internet...This connection is pre-configured. It cannot be modified" Will these connection settings be retained after the ROM upgrade?
I also upgraded successfully my MDA with the latest HTC ROM. I used the unsigned HardSPL, with the signed one I did not manage.
After installation the phone asked me if I want to automatically reconfigure the internet access (or something like that), after that the T-Mobile Internet connection was back again. I guess this is a feature of the network/provider and it is not necessary something you need in your ROM.

The Network Connection wizard make that happend, because its in the Rom, so its very handy because its make your networks settings for you! And you can flash a new rom every day if you want
the Wizard make the settings(not your network/provider)
So, has anyone successfully unlocked, hard spl and flashed a new ROM into an O2 Ignito?
There's so little about the O2 ignito here, but i'm thinking to get one and try a wwe Rom on it.

True true, but don't forget it's the same hardware anyway so all of the updating applies to all 3 versions of the phone.
I personally have the MDA Compact IV and have updated ROM/SPL/Radio fine, and my friend has the O2 XDA Ignito and has also updated all 3 of his so i can confirm its safe
The XDa Ignito comes unlocked as standard - you can use any SIM card in it. As for the rest - I put Olinex 1.40 on mine and then have flashed 3 different roms from here all fine
I'm going to put a new rom on my Ignito tonight hopefully.
First though I want a copy of the original O2 rom to put back on if necessary.
So far i've managed to dump the rom from the phone to my computer, but now just need to convert that all back into a ROM somehow.

same position here, i got the raw files and the spl but trying to find out how to build a rom with the raw files.
please update if youv managed to find anything
I also have the raw files but if I have no idea how to get these back into a normal flashable o2 rom! I am sure we will manage it if we need it for warranty purposes though if it comes to it
i think we need to start a new thread for this to get more attention, some of the advanced users will deffinitely be able to help.
its worth doing in my opinion
As has already been stated, there's loads of us XDA Ignito users on here. Within 2 days I'd flashed a new SPL and ROM onto my device. Would be nice to have the original o2 rom to roll back to if necessary but I'm perfectly happy with out it currently.
As far as I'm aware o2 are one of the few operators that don't lock their devices. Out of all the handsets I've had from them over the years I'm as yet to receive a sim locked one.
markquinton,
can you help us out with redeveloping the original o2 rom!
seems like you have some ccoking experience having a custom rom on your orbit! see my previuos post in this thread
I'm afraid I only built custom rom's from the base HTC one's made available for the Orbit originally when WM6.1 came out. I've never worked with raw files and wouldn't have the foggiest about how to get them back into a flashable state. Sorry!
hi all am hoping to get this thread going again as im having trouble geting Unsigned-Hard-SPL-Diamond-OliNex onto my ignito. did any of you guys have trouble?
Hard SPL on ignito
I managed to install the hard SPl onto my ignito, but have been unable to flash a new rom.
Think the pre-installed works well though, I just installed the original black theme as the blue o2 one is pants.
Radio upgrade has been fine.
Biggest recommendation I have is to install the VGA version of quick GPS. It REALLY made a difference to my satellite lock times from like 10 mins to about 10 secs
no problems with it works fine mine was on o2 software using latest dutty's now.
give it a go, loads faster now

Great! Thanks!
Another question (which I cant find the answer to).. How do I go back to the stock spl? I have unsigned hard spl on here at the moment.
Also, do you know which version of the radio the Compact IV is shipped with in the UK?
I'm guessing the order to do things is..
1. Flash original radio
2. Flash original ROM
3. Remove hard spl..
Your help would really be appreciated! Thanks.
T-Mobile MDA Compact IV (Diamond/Victor) stock ROM/SPL
Hi beauchampy,
The Radio and Rom will be flashed together with the file previously linked:
RUU_Victor_TMO_UK_1.37.110.3_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.26a.25.09_1.00.25.03_Ship.exe
The default SPL for T-Mobile stock from September until present day is 1.37
This should be the last thing to be flashed.
I have attached a zip with all the necessary files you need (credit to cmonex http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2324829#post2324829).
Un-zip the archive, connect via activesync.
Copy "SSPL-Manual.exe" to your device (any directory)
Run SSPL-Manual.exe on the device - screen should go black...
Start "ROMUpdateUtility.exe" in the PC as usual for rom update.

Aside..Im done with t-mobile after this contract expires. Support is rubbish and really with the diamond they have put near to zero investment with keeping up with HTC's rom/radio releases. If they arent going to put the money to keep up with this then how about not doing your own awful pink and white version and brand the phone to high heaven. Then you wont have to re-develop something thats already available just to customise it to t-mobile. Leave the phone as it is and keep in line with HTC's releases. The other problem is the total lack of accessory support for the compact 4. Rant over. Apart from, Pink and white...whoever thought of that..
So enough about the ROM already, how about the SPL?!??!! Can I use this one or is there a Dutch SPL out there???
Anywayz... I didnt need the T-Mobile support afteral. Because I had to wait for the ROM update too long back then I began to flash ROMs. Thanks XDA for that.
My next phone wont be a T-Mobile branded device, might not even be a HTC device... That long expected Sony Ericson X2 makes me horney, and its finally coming out!!!
offtopic
Oh never mind about the X2, it uses the same chip set as his predecessor, the X2 is already the biggest disappointment of 2010...
I would like to install the new Feb 09 ROM from HTC. My Compact IV is from last August and Im just so fed up with the slowness and reception... but I dont want to brick it as I still have a year contract left (thats why never cooked anything) however I feel I could trust the ROM straight from HTC(?) This also seems to pretty straight forward to do.
...but Please let me know
- Is the installer 'PDA Phone ROM Update Utility 3.27.4.3' that comes with it safe to use?
- No need to hardSPL etc.. stuff?
- Will there be any issue as Compact IV is locked to T-Mobile?
Appreciate help... love my compact IV!!
Just to add to my post
I used the S/N in the other thread: ht824gn13492 to download the ROM from HTC. HTC didnt allow to do it with Compact IV's S/N. I hope thats ok... Think the ROM version downloaded is 2.03.405.3.
Thanks
...
I have compact IV too and I am using 2.03 roms (htc and cooked) without problems. You need hardspl to flash these roms (i have olinex 1.93). And I recomend you to flash rom by internal method. Good luck
What do you mean with 'internal method'?
And even if install straight from HTC, still need hardSPL?
Thanks!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2707841&postcount=4035
Read this about flashing from internal storage.Mainly the second paragraph. And I thing that you need hardspl for any other rom except tmobile stock one.
I hope that will help you
hardspl
Thanks for your help. Just one more question: does your last comment mean T-mobile original ROM doesnt require hardSLP. Or better I install it anyway?
Thanks!!
Yes.Only (Tmobile CZ in my case)stock rom from your mobile operator
copilot
I think I will try install straight the official HTC ROM. I read somewhere else thread if updating official ROm you shouldnt use any HardSPL(?) Im not exp with this, and dont want to risk my phone...
I wonder will this affect the Copilot 7 installed by T-Mobile? i know its on the interanl memory (4GB) but were some parts in the phones memory that will be wiped away? dont want to loose it!!!
you cannot install the Official HTC ROM without HardSPL is what gajdik means.
Because your phone is T-Mobile branded (like mine) you can ONLY install T-Mobile ROMS, all others will fail (even official htc roms), to bypass this you must hardspl
Thanks... understand now.
What about Copilot, will I loose it? (does it have something in registry etc that will disable it, as the ROM is not from T-mobile?)
thanks

I'm new to all this. I've got hold of the new HTC Rom that I want to put on my Compact IV, but can anyone give me a version of Hard SPL to use?
I can't seem to get any of the versions i've found so far to work!
Thanks in advance!
What version of stock rom do you have? And what versions of hardspl you tried?
I've got 1.37.110.3 WWE (the standard one that came from T-Mobile) and i'm trying to flash 2.03.405.3 (the feb 09 update from the HTC website)
I think i've managed to get the Olinex Hard SPL 1.30 onto the phone, but can't seem to make any progress.
