Unhiding "Sent Items" folder in SMS - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Hello!
I currently use Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM with threaded SMS function enabled by default. As I don't like it, I am turning it off every time when I hard reset, or flash new rom. But there is a problem, that I can't figure out - as long as I am using threaded sms, it is not necessary to have "Sent Items" folder, but when I switch to standard view, it is annoying that I can't read what I have just sent. So is it possible to unhide "Sent Items" folder in SMS view without changing things in rom itself?

SMS Tweaker
Not sure if this will do it or not but it is definitely worth having a look at and trying
SMS Tweaker 1.5

Hope That works for ya,

Oh, and I forgot to mention: Sent Items is hidden for sure. When I try to make new folder in SMS account and I name it "Sent Items", I will get an error saying that it is existing already.
I will try this program, thanks. I've tested smsOrganizer so far - no help here.
____
SMS Tweaker didn't helped me as well. Maybe there is an registry key, which will do the magic?

Hi i have the same problem..i have tried the program from the link..but with no change... any other ideas?

I had same problem on my HTC Wizard.
The SMS s were still there when I back-UPed it with PIMbackup.
I solved it with flashing with another ROM...
Sorry...

Hide SIM Contacts and disable SMS Confirmation?

Hi all,
Was wondering, is there an app like there was a fit4cat for hermes which will let me disable SMS sent confirmations on my Orbit? Also, any way at all to stop SIM card contacts appearing when i go to my contact list, i only want the phone contacts appearing there (but dont want to delete contacts off my SIM).
Thanks in advance
Yes there it for both, this one for hide SIM contacts. the other you have do some searching or registry hacking
Thanks very much, that's just what i needed, contact list was getting far too long with both showing
Thanks
Open up notepad, copy the stuff below into it and save as a .reg file instead of a text file. That'll disable the sms sent notification for you
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
"SMSNoSentMsg"="1"
Hide SIM contacts
I tried the patch but I still see the SIM contacts in my pocket informant 2007.
Somebody would know how to hide them?

There is an option in the Contacts View settings "Show Non-Native Contacts" which is set to YES. Uncheck that and Contacts should ignore the SIM contacts.

Hi,
The registry bit did not exist in my XDAII, I have WM5 with standard XDAII O2 ROM. Mine is HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\SVC\SMS - there is no Settings folder. I created it and still got nowhere. What do I do please?
show sim contacts again
once you've hidden the SIM contacts using this app is there a way you can get them back if you want to see them again?
Thanks
Disable the SMS Sent notification
Regisrty: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\
Key: SMSNoSentMs (decimal)
Default: 0 (on)
New Value: 1 (off)
Note: Please note that the 'Settings' key may not exist in your device, and thus may have to be created first.
Is there any way to hide the SIM in contacts on a locked HTC Touch? It should be an option not a reg hack. What a stupid idea. Why do I need to see my contacts twice?
I should mention that I have used PHM RegEdit and the hide sim cab file above which both work great, until I restart my phone.
found it here...thanks.

WM6.1 & SMS

I have a question. I'm not sure if it's WM6.1 related, or if it's built into the ShadoW..
But when i view text messages now, they show up as a "conversation" .. which i din't mind, but i can't seem to move the messages into another folder. Infact, i can't even create a new folder in the tree.
The "Move" option is still there, but i can't do anything with it. The reason i "move" the messages is to clean up work and personal related messages. now they're all stuck in my inbox.
Is it a feature of WM6.1? Or is it a feature of the ShadoW install?
i have some problem too
anybody have a solution ?
i want to work with old sms system
i was never able to create a folder for the sms, i dont think it s an issue about wm 6.1
Aliencurv,
I'm guessing that 6.1 uses threaded SMS, which is a new feature. The previous version of WinMobile (6.0) used the standard SMS format that you are used to.
I don't know whether you can deinstall this feature in 6.1 or if its cooked into the ROM. What I can tell you is that it is possible to create subfolders in 6.0 and move stuff around. I do this all the time.
If you can't deinstall threaded SMS from 6.1 and if sub directories are important, you may have to move back to 6.0.
I have to say I have only briefly beta tested 6.1 so I can't say for sure what you can do with folders. However 6.0 is as I have said above.
Hope this helps.

I also noticed that I can't forward any messages now under 6.1 like I was able to before

u can bro.. just select the conversation intended ..select the intended messages by scrolling up & down using your DPad/Jog Scroll (it will be highlighted as u move along), when done selecting, click menu, select forward.. u good to go..

see screenshot below
Thanks for your reply but it seems that you have to be in a conversation in order to be able to forward and not with a message where i didn't reply. I'm not by my computer so I'll post a screen shot later.
You disable threaded SMS by using the following key:
HKCU\Microsoft\Inbox\Setings\OEM\SMSInboxThreadingDisable=DWORD:1

You could always create a new folder via "manage folders" prior to WM6.1, although now it greyed out, rather than non-existent.
For those who don't like the threaded SMS in WM 6.1, you can change its style to WM 6.0 by this key:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
"SMSAvailable"=dword:[COLOR="Red"]1[/COLOR]
Change 1 -> 0 and you'll have the old SMS

Nice! Once in a while i prefer to send/receive sms's the normal way. hehe
And when threading is disabled, i could do pretty much anything that i could do before like "Manage Folders" (create/delete folders) and move messages to/from a specific folder.
Thanks!

Just disable the threading feature using the registry tweak Cludyfa mentioned a few posts above. Disabling the threading allows you to "Manage Folders" and move messages around.
I have edited the registry and disable the "threading", but with this effect, the notification (sound or vibration) for new SMS is also disable (e.g. no sound and vibration when there is new SMS and easily miss SMS/MMS), regardless how I set it in the "Sounds & Notifications".
Just wonder anyone has similar experience?

yep, i tried the tweak on two different WM6.1 roms, there's no incoming sms notification when i disable threading. I just hope somebody discovers a tweak to remedy this.
I like the new threaded SMS a lot but unfortunately my messages (restored) from before do not show up - only SMS's after I installed a 6.1 rom - the only way to read previous SMS is by going back to the old (with the regedit mentioned in this thread) or using a 3rd party program like PocketCM - anybody know how to make older messages appear in the new threaded SMS?

Passwording SMS Folder in TF3D

Afternoon,
I'm looking for a (preferably freeware) application that password protects SMS (and perhaps email) folders on the HD whilst using the TF3D interface.
I'm using Dutty's 1.8 ROM and like the TF3D interface (esp the calendar) so don't really want to go to the standard WM6.1 GUI, although I know there are programs that enable this feature if you choose to use this interface.
Is anyone able to offer any suggestions?
Thanks for the help.
No joy then!
have a look on this post...
don't know if it's what you want.

Cheers
Ok
Thanks.
What i've done is removed the "SMS" and "Mail" tabs from TF3D
This means that you use the exact same SMS setup as if TF3d is disabled.
What would be good would be if it was possible to make the "SMS" tab link directly to the account selection page, meaning there was no message preview envelope, as even with Eye on Privacy installed, you can still read messages in TF3d, with a password prompt only occurring when you enter the windows messaging bit.

[Tweak/App] Disabling HTC Messaging in manila 2.5 (version 1.2 Updated on 29th Sep)

I posted this first in HTCpedia, and then had some discussion in xda, but I thought I would post this officially in xda.
HTC has, since manila 2.5, designed and developed a completely new text messaging application (HTC Messaging App) to replace the old Windows messaging application for the entire SMS/text messaging functionality. Some of you may not be affected by the poor performance of HTC messaging app. But for me, it's so poor that despite trimming my text messages to just 200, every operation (open message, compose a message, etc) takes a few seconds at least, and it is just not usable for me. It looks to me as if HTC has designed, developed and tested with just a handful messages in mind.
So I did some investigation, and found out a way to disable HTC messaging app, and revert back to the original Windows messaging application, i.e. pocket outlook, for text messaging.
Technically speaking, it's a combination of registry tweak and a small patch utility I wrote to overcome a bug/problem as a result of disabling HTC messaging application.
Update (29th September 2009) - Version 1.2
I have updated the CAB to be compatible with the latest manila version 2.5.1919xxx. This should fix the problem where the default application is still HTC messaging client, and not Windows pocket outlook. If you already have a previous version installed, please remember NOT to restart your device when the previous version is being uninstalled. Also, if your text message has "GSM" suffix, there's a chance where the tweak is not complete. I'm working on a fix for that but I would need confirmation from you registry values in the registry path (HKLM\Services\MSG, HKLM\Services\OutlookEnhancement, HKLM\System\Inbox\ExternalAccounts, HKCU\Software\HTC\bootlauncher\services\outlookenhancement)
Update (21st September 2009) - Version 1.1
I have updated to the CAB to include the latest version of patch utility, which would be more reliable (99% ,with the 1% due to scenario not tested ) detect dismissal of SMS notification, so that you won't end up with the count bubble still showing up after dismissing SMS notification or reading the new SMS. This CAB doesn't have the registry tweak discovered in 11th September, as I noted that not all ROM would have this problem. So if you have problem sending messages, you can manually apply the tweak yourself (see the update on 11th Sept)
INSTALLATION NOTE FOR THOSE WHO HAD PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED V1.0: When you run the CAB (version 1.1), you will be prompted if you would like to restart when the previous version is uninstalled. DO NOT RESTART, so that version 1.1 can be installed immediately after that. If you choose RESTART at this point, your SMS may be lost as a result. RESTART only after version 1.1 has been installed successfully.
Update (11th September 2009) - First Release
In some ROM, there's additional registry entries found in the ROM which would impede the ability to send SMS in the Winmo text messaging application. You can find the manual fix here, while I work on implementing this fix in the CAB.
Update (5th September 2009)
I have updated the CAB not only to install the patch utility, but also to apply the tweak configuration at the point of installation (i.e. step 1 to 4 are automated by the CAB). You will be prompted to restart your device at the end of the installation, like this
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}

The tweak is reversible by just uninstalling the CAB from Settings > Remove Program. Again, you will be prompted to restart your device to effect the changes, as below
 However, take note that moving from one mode to another mode might lose your text messages, so please make sure you do a proper backup when you install/uninstall. If you are using myphone, you may have to restore the deleted messages from the web, before syncing back to your phone.
Tested to work in the following ROMs
(take note that if the ROM is not listed here it doesn't mean it won't work, it just been that it has not been tested/reported)
1. Dutty's Leo R2
2. PDAViet V58 build 23045, V59/60 build 23047
3. eXperience V 6.0
4. nrgz genesis
5. RTT LEET R4
Manual Steps
Step 1.Disable HTC messaging service by either removing the registry or rename the DLL in HKLM\services\MSG. e.g. I rename "MessagingService.dll" to "MessagingService.dllx" This will enable Winmo to take over the entire messaging send/receive function, without this, you can only receive text messages but not able to use winmo app to send terxt message (Although you can still send using the slow HTC messaging app, but it'll create some inconsistency).
Step 2.Change the default text messaging app from HTC messaging to Winmo's Pocket outlook (tmail.exe) by removing the registry or renaming the account in HKLM\system\inbox\externalaccounts. In my case, I rename "SMS" to "SMS.htc"
Step 3.Install the attached cab file to fix the missing unread count status (read below for more information)
Step 4Soft reset your phone, and you are set to go!

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Something to note (as a result of the tweak)
1. Missing Unread count on the Messaging tab
First thing you will notice if you do not execute step 3 (as above), is that the messaging tab will never show any unread count bubble, even if there is a new incoming SMS. That said, you will still get SMS notification (i.e. notification sound, notification icon in the taskbar, etc)
Step 3 basically is a workaround fix utility, that fixes the problem by monitoring new incoming SMS and set unread count appropriately. It'll monitor the notification queue, and unset the read count once you processed the SMS notification. However, due to the way HTC implements its notification manager, which takes over standard Windows notification management, in some rare cases, the notification queue might be missed, and as a result you might see the read count not unset even though you have taken the necessary action (i.e. open the new SMS, dismiss the SMS notification, or set new SMS to read). When this happens, just soft-reset your HD, and you should be fine.
2. Missing MMS function
I have a temporary solution to enable MMS function in the Windows text messaging application. However, there's abit of problem in the time of the message transmitted, so I'm not posting the solution yet. You can however, do a google search on "arcsoft MMS" application, if this is one area you cannot live without.

Message Count
Hi,
excellent idea - however got a Question:
I am using Miri's Rev 7.1 without HTC Messaging (t4 assume that he uses as similar workaround as yu have presented here?).
Still the TF3D Messaging Tab is totally useless and I t4 removed the Tab fm Touch Flo as well.
Instead I put the "Text" shortcut into the Quick Links - that works just fine as it brings me direct into the Inbox (Threaded messaging I switched off as well).
Only problem: I do not get a Message Count with the "Text" Quick Link.
Do yu think there is a way to add a message Count to this Link - resp wud installing Yr cab just add this capability to the "Text" link??
If that wud be working...well..I wud be def a very very happy Man!

yes the CAB file contains a patch exe file to be run at startup, to address the message count problem you have described.
from what you've described, it looks like Miri has not eliminate the HTC messaging completely, because if the tweak is done properly, any SMS tasks (read, compose, etc) will by default open up the Windows Mobile messaging app, there's no need to create any additional shortcut. The CAB's installation process will take care of these tweak setups to ensure that.
if you just want the patch utility, you can extract the SMS Patch.exe from the CAB, and place it in Startup folder.
good working...very very happy Man
Hi,
unfortunately this doesnt seem to work at all with the Miri Rev 7.1 ROM.
I tried to install the entire cab as well as the SMS Patch by itself (separate of course and resetting in between).
Once the SMSPatch exe is active I can't send/receive sms at all anymore.
Once all is un-installed send/receiving sms works again (= its sure the SMS Patch exe that kills my Messaging fm working at all ).
Guess I have to life with the fact that I won't be able to get a message count via the "Text" Quick Link - as long as I keep the Messaging Touch Flo Tab unloaded.
Thanks for yr effort anyhow - and I hope it works with other ROM's.

SMS Patch by itself doesn't do any intrusive task to the SMS, i.e. it doesn't overtake HTC or Windows messaging, so I'm not sure why it doesn't work for you.
You should look at the manual steps I have documented earlier, to see what went wrong for you, because these are the key steps in order for a SMS application to be 'registered' as official messaging application in Windows Mobile env.
Hi,
thanks - I checked in my Registry - and both entries as in yr Point 1 & 2 do not exist in my Registry...
Great work zenkinz, SMS Patch is working a treat here, now got unread count bubble and can send and receive texts with WM messaging. Still hoping you can come up with a working MMS solution but this isn't as important to me as having MSVC announce incoming messages which HTC messaging blocks.
Thanks for all your hard work!
Can't install the cab
I am using PhamQuang's V55 ROM (23041) and have manually followed the registry changes, but trying to install the cab, gets me a message it was unsuccessful. I guess there is an open file that can not be override..
Any idea? I tried turning everything off.. Did not work. Even after soft reset it does not. So currently I get it to be working without the count. Another annoying part is from the Manila window it still opens the HTC SMS...

and what's the difference between HTC Messaging and normal WM messaging app ??
Hi thanks very much for the CAB file.
I am running Dutty's Leo R2 rom with SMS Chat 1.25 but it would not allow me to send texts , I could only use HTC Messaging if in classic mode ,the threaded mode would not open the text.
I have just installed the CAB file now and tested it and SMS Chat now works again as does threaded chat in WM Messaging.
Very pleased about this as I was looking at other roms for phone as was sick of text problems.

can you check what's the protocol in HKLM\Comm\Cellular\SMS? This is the one that determines how to handle incoming and outgoing SMS.
It looks like Miri does some tweaking that's not compatible with my findings. I have tried Dutty, NGR as well as PDAViet, all doesn't have any problem. I just didn't try this on Miri.

Hi,
there are a lot of entries there...all somehow connected to tmail.exe - however I still get the threaded HTC Messaging screen when tapping on the the Message displayed via TF3D (and if going for "All Messages" the normal WM Messaging).
Assume it has something to do with the tweaking Miri did and where he overlooked something somehow....no worries!
Tks a lot for yr efforts and support!

what you described is the normal behaviour of messaging even in the manila 2.1, where a tap on the message in the message tab brings you to the contact's threaded messaging tab.

try this CAB just for the patch file if you have done the necessary registry editing.
Thx for the cab, just installed it on energyrom running on xperia, now i have mms. Thx again
any1 tried this method, using this rom with htc messaging or others using the the patch provided here, disabling htc sms, import sms using Pim Backup or MS Myphone, and enable HTC sms by uninstalling the patch, does htc sms work smoothly, any feedback.
Edit: it works but msgs dont get display jus says compose, when scrolling up and down in manilla they show up, not when u go into it.
I wasn't able to rename SMS to SMS.htc in step 2. How do I remove the registry?
must do step 2 manual and it work, press new msg & all msg from manila bring the wm app on, great fix

Messaging App Disappeared

I've searched and searched and cannot find anyone with a similar problem.
My MS Messaging App has disappeared. If I go to Start, All Programs, there is no app called "Messaging." I'm pretty sure it was there before as I think I used it to set up custom signatures in two of my email accounts. I think this missing app is also the one that allows me to save e-mail attachments on my SD card. Everything else is working fine except I cannot change my signatures, nor can I delete an email account. I still have a program called "E-mail," which takes me to the in box of an email program. I still have an app called "Mail Setup," which allows me to 'choose a mail provider' to set up a new email account. But I no longer have a program called "Messaging." I have a subdirectory called "Messaging" in the "Windows" folder, but no executables in this folder or anywhere else I can think of, certainly not in Windows/Start Menu.
I've only done a few tweaks and added a few programs to my Verizon TP2. I did some reg edits to unlock and remove some of the locked icons/programs (Contacts, Calendar, Settings) in the Manila Start Menu (since I'm using these tabs don't need them on the Start/Programs menu. Also installed Slingbox mobile, Google Maps/Search, youtubeplay, PHM reg editor, and I think that's about it. Email and everything else works fine. Am I losing my mind or shouldn't there be a "Messaging" app?
i have a "Messaging" and its basicly the account picker, is that what your looking for?
If i click on its properties its shortcut is pointing to
Code:
":MSINBOX" ?"\Windows\MPI_ProgramIcons.dll,-123
Try duplicating a shortcut from \windows\start menu\programs and editing its shortcut to that. But your icon might be different since i'm on a custom rom where the chef might have edited his dll's

Just as well, I guess, 'cause I'm also not sure how I would edit a shortcut of another file. I'm no programmer, just a bit of a hack trying to customize my phone a little bit.
