HI Guys!
I want to know if is there any WM6 rom that don't have the 'no wake up from sleep' problem. I rely a lot on my TyTN and is annoying some times to try to turn it on and realize it's hang and i missed a lot of important calls.
I tested two WM6 roms, and they got lot of issues. One got the "lost SD" problem and now I'm using Faria Superclean 3. Very good rom, but sometimes it dont wake up right. (the fix out there dosn't help)
I haven't had a SOD incident since going to my latest ROM which is based on the "official" build (CE 5.2.1437 build 17944.0.3.1). While cooking this ROM, I took great pains to leave the production power management software intact (including the "older style" battery status cpanel plugin).
I'm guessing that M$ fixed this issue and that all ROMs directly derived from the official build that haven't had the power management software modified either won't experience SOD at all or will exhibit greatly reduced SOD frequencies.

How much time do you tested it? I got weeks without this problem and suddenly it happens twice in a day
shagratt any luck? have you found a fix?
from my understanding the problem was if you had your pop mail setting to automatically check for new mail, and it did it while the hermes was sleeping, it wouldn't wake up. when i put my settings to manual i stopped having the problem. what we need is for someone to confirm with the official wm6 rom or att wm6 rom if this problem still exist. if it doesn't then i'll think about switching from black 3.0.1. to something newer.
No issue with Dopod official ROM
Haven't had any SOD since running the official Dopod WM 6.0 since about a month ago. My ActiveSync settings are "As items arrive" always.
I did have it on a number of xda-forum builds previously on the same hardware and same microSD card ... so the official WM 6.0 seems to have fixed it.

I dont use mail on the hermes
But my Weather home plugin perhaps is trying to update its data. Now I'm testing the settings to update it manually. (no hangs since I write this post)
What's annoy me is that I can be months without this and then it begin to happens frequently : o /
Since moving to the Dopod and official HTC rom I've had zero SOD's. I was getting them every hour at one point on black and on LSVW.

SOD issues
Strangely enough, I didnt start experiencing SOD issues UNTIL I switched to the newer roms based on the "official" WM6 Rom...I had it with VP3G and eventually loaded Satin and the problems continued. Most of my problems seemed to be centered around shortcuts I had on my today screen for programs loaded on my sd card. After "waking" and trying to run some of the shortcuts it would take several tries or it would cause lockups or SODs. Boz pointed me to the following patch which has seemed to fix all the sd card shortcuts problems as well as the SODs I was experiencing. The only thing that seems to still cause SODs for me is if I am trying to download a large file directly to the sd card via the internet and the phone goes into standby it will still cause the SOD. But realistically I wouldnt be downloading large files like that very often, and if I have to I can just connect my usb charger or ac charger to make sure it doesnt go into standby.

I use 3g's WM6 and never had the SOD until I installed a podcast collector (smart-rss). Then, every morning when I woke up I had to play the game to get the phone working. Finally found it was easier to just hard reset and reload from the nightly backup that seems to still work. About a week ago I uninstalled SmartRSS and it hasn't had the SOD since. Certinly seems like the common thread here is for the phone to be doing data transferes while it is asleep.
Had a SOD once with Schaps 3.57a and it turned out that it was a
corrupted cemail.vol file which caused the trouble. After SR it started
first fine and than hung everytime when accessed the Messagin file
cemail.vol. After I created a new one on storage card and pointed
to it in registry and SR, deleted the old corrupted one the problem
did never occur since today. Puuuhhh...
I am absolutely sure that all SODs come from any corrupted databases
or incompatible programs which cause wakeup issues. The trick is to
find out what application is the culprit

Hi guys -
Loving all the ROMS available here, breathed new life into my p3600i, i've tried maybe 10 different ROMs in the past days.
Too many, but only because everytime i settle on one, it dies on me. i install all the apps i want on it, use it for 24hours or so, then out of nowhere, phone sort of freezes (not responding), i get impatient, memory leak maybe, then do a soft-reset via the stylus.
What happens next is it reboots, and restarts as if i've just flahsed the ROM (i.e. a hard-reset)!!! Can anybody tell me why this keeps happening no matter which ROM i use?
very frustrating, please advise...
I'm really looking to settle on one and use for at least a few weeks/months!
Thanks in advance!

Try running a Rom WITHOUT installing your apps and see if you still have the problem. If not, then add one program at a time until you discover which program is causing the problem.
Thanks for the reply, it's happened to me again, t his time whilst syncying with my exchange server it hung after about 5mins downloading (usually takes no more than 3 mins - I know cause it's the 10th time i've had to do it). Essentially these are the list of CABS i install:
1) SPB Pocket Plus
2) SPB Keyboard
3) SPB Back-up (only recently so i don't have to re-install apps)
4) PocketMusic
5) TomTom (off SD Card)
I've nailed it down to times where i'm running a memory intensive app (TOMTOM or Syncing using Outlook) where I use the stylus and do a soft-reset as screen has frozen up.
After that boom it's as if i did a hard-reset and have to configure/re-install from scratch!
I'm confused/frustrated!
argh it's happened again! this time i was not even doing anything special!
Could it have anything to do with: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399779
> WARNING BEFORE FLASHING:
While most people have not had any problems, a small but consistent number have reported lockups with various ROMs, requiring either soft or hard resets, depending on the conflicting program.
Have backups of your data, and be prepared that something you install might break the ROM you have installed.
UPDATE: It seems like lockups are possible even with (practically) nothing installed - while they do seem to be less likely the less you install, apparently there does not seem to be any P3600i immune to this issue, whether full of programs or not. Note that the newer ROMs seem to be more stable
As much as I loved playing with the cooked ROMS, how do i go back to original HTC provided ROM?
i've not been able to download the official HTC ROM after putting in my phone's S/N. possibly because there were no p3600i ROMS listed so i had to go for a d810.
anyway, i'm now trying a WM6.0 ROM, will see how i go. for those that have been around long, was this ever an issue, i.e. p3600i users trying cooked WM6.1 ROMS with stability/hard-reset issues?
Unfortunately, I am using a standard P3600, so I cannot verify your issue. I just know how to diagnose simple things. I know that on my phone, added software is usually the issue.
I can verify TomTom runs fine on my phone, but I don't use the other 4. I do run SPB Mobile shell 2 and 3, and SPB Weather, without any problems.
Hopefully, somebody else can shed some light on this?
Good Luck gunnerxl
I can confirm the same issues, I have not found ONE cooked ROM that will let my p3600i last more than a month without a freeze of some type that requires a hard reset.
Search the forums for my posts on this, been here for ages trying every single ROM, all fail on my PDA.
I'm of the opinion that my PDA is actually faulty in the onboard RAM, because there are some seriously fine ROMs here and it would be close to impossible that all the ROMs end with the same fault.
All the ROM cookers here do a fantastic job, put in a great effort and I thank them.
Even the stock ROM for my PDA has failed me.
I have learned to use back ups and make sure I have all my contacts stored on 2 computers etc, to recover from a hard reset is no real issue to me, just an annoying glitch until I upgrade to the next PDA.
I have not been able to find a program that will functionally test the onboard RAM like what is available for an PC.
IMHO - if you can afford it, UPGRADE away from the p3600i, but this is CLEARLY a biased opinion.
try schaps WM6.0 ROM, been using for past 2 days without any hard-resets... it's possibly that our version of the p3600i's HAVE to use WM6.0, all the WM6.1/5 ROMS crashed out on me, i'll test with intensive usage for the next couple days and report back... hopefully no issues, any other WM6.0 ROMS available? I used the official list at top of this forum section...

I have tried Schaps, have tried them ALL as I previously stated.
All the ROMs available are the ones listed, there are no others that are known to WORK that have been supplied to THIS forum.
You won't get a custom ROM from here above WM6 for the P3600i that is stable. This is because HTC only supports up to WM6 on them. Why does this matter? A core component of any ROM you flash is the kernel for the phone. This is customised by HTC for the OS. I don't think any ROM 'cook' from here can provide real stability because the kernel doesn't support WM6 or above. For real stability someone has to modify the kernel file itself in the ROM.
So there are no stable 6.1's or 6.5's here. Me, stability is paramount, I'll stick with the official WM6 ROM.
The D810 official download of WM6 is the same one as for the P3600i. Indeed, you can only get it if you say your phone is a D810 on the Asia site.
I have been using cooked ROMs for so long now that I can't even remember. Only very recently have I been forced to use official ROMs becuase of unavailability of HardSPLs.
I have only had this issue with two devices the Touch Pro2 and Imagio but i'm pretty sure that it happens with other models also.
Error examples:
'a problem has occurred with fexplorer.exe'
'a problem has occurred with services.exe'
I am a flash freek and every time I load about 100+ games and about 150+ applications so before everyone starts saying that when you load so many softwares something bad is bound to happen. I have already considered that but here is why i thing the problem is with official ROMs.
- I flashed official ROM and hard reset
- I first left out all the games and only installed the applications but the problem was still there.
- I then split the applications in half and after another hard reset tried with first batch and problem was there. I hard reset and also tried the second batch and problem was there.
- I am not so desperate an i am installing softwares one at a time and then testing for 10-15 mins and then installing the next software to pinpoint the problem.
even with the last approach I cannot pinpoint which software is causing the problem. Sometimes the phone crashes after 10 applications installed and sometimes after I reach 40 applications.
Now some of you will ask and suggest if maybe the problem is with the softwares. Most of the softwares I have are from freewarepocketpc.net but how can it be the software when all these softwares are the same ones that I have been using without any issues on Cooked ROMs for months and not a single crash on the Cooked ROMs.
I have been scratching my head and trying to figure out what is that secret ingredient in the Cooked ROMs that make them so stable and what can we do to make our official ROMs stable.
At one point I though Microsoft .NET Compact Framework was the culprit and so I tired several times with and without it installed and the problem was still there so I ruled it out.
I also tried installing SDK certs on the official ROM but that did'nt fix it either.
Help me out here guys, what am I missing, whats that Secret Ingredient in the cooked ROMs that make them so stable?
Fairy dust, us cooks sprinkle a little over the rom in the building process and it makes them super stable.
Personally I have never had those two errors on a stock rom. Might I ask which brand of those phones are you using? (aka, is it an AT&T, Telstra, Verizon, etc.) Sometimes (make that 99% of the time) the carrier's version of a rom is THE WORST there can be, causing problems like that.
With that note out of the way, you have tried using it without installing anything for a bit to see if the problem still persists right? If not, it could be one, or more likely more than one application is causing it to die.
the secret words for tonight are
"disable error reporting in your ROM"

For Verizon Imagio i've used the official shipped ROM
I also had the same problem on the T-Mobile Touch Pro2 with its shipped WM6.1 ROM and once the HardSPL came out, i tried with the European Pro2 WM6.5 Official ROM and that also had same problem.
Yes I tried using the ROMs without any softwares and they work just fine. So that brings me to the conclusion that the softwares that I am installing are causing this but the problem is how to pinpoint which softwares and if it turns out that a wide variety of softwares are causing this (my suspicion) then why is it happening only with official ROMs and not cooked ones?

Does this mean that windows mobile is so unstable that the only way to fix it is to give an illusion of stability by disabling the error reporting?
Say it isn't so, I love WM and if things are so bad with it then I have nowhere else to go.

After thinking about it a few minutes I get it now. I am shocked that I spent over week testing hundreds of softwares one by one when I could have just disabled the reporting. Thanks for the secret ingredient, i'll give it a go and report back in 1-2 days how my ROM is responding. I can already notice a slight increase in speed.
I know this is blashphemy on XDA, but I have the opposite issue. I've never encountered a cooked ROM as bug free as a stock ROM. Maybe this is b/c I've never bought a carrier phone and always gone for the unbranded, unlocked device, so I've had a clean stock rom to start off with... But with every cooked ROM I've tried (and to be fair, I don't flash regularly like I used to - so maybe things are getting better), there's always something wrong even if its a minute detail like text out of place on some screen hidden away in settings that most users don't find, or lost functionality of special buttons in oem programs like Opera (that most XDAers don't know about b/c they flash the first day they get the device), or lack of proper support for landscape, or improper bluetooth implementations where A2DP doesn't work like it used to, etc.

I think a lot of cooks are very short-sighted on these issues. I have a habit of testing every button, every program and every feature multiple times before a ROM goes out the door, and I still miss things. Many of the factory ROM's I've used are bad in this regard as well (my Fuze connecting to a secured WiFi network for one). Cutting off the error reporting doesn't really do that much, but I've had crashes before where I had to turn it on to find a bug that was stopping the ROM from working.
Dizzy looking at ...
Man, I got dizzy by looking at your avatar.
Everyone says that.
Hi All,
I looked thru 160 pages of searching with different keywords, and didnt find answer. I have the stock ATT rom, hard spl to add the 4.49 radio, have personalizer and Photo Contacts Pro 5.5 on it. Nothing else except to the two cab fixes to reduce ram useage.
The problem is at times when I get a txt msg and I hit reply the txt opens up and when I slide the phone to expose the keyboard to reply, the phone will freeze up, the cursor is still blinking to input but the buttons and the touch screen is not responsive, I have to hit the reset button on the side of the phone to regain control. Anyone else having this problem and is there a fix for this?
Check the hot fix on HTC's site
I have had the same issues and HTC recomended installing both hotfixes as they fix alot of other isses other than what is shown. I will let you know how they work as I am installing them now.
i have the att tilt 2 and tried to install the hotfix to stop my phone from freezing but when i tried to run the installer its said not compatible for this phone??? what is the deal?

Yep had the same problem when I tried to install the caller ID fix. the sms fix installed fine no issues there. I think the reason why it might have said its incompatible is because it might have been for the WinMo 6.1 not for the 6.5 version. I read somewhere (sorry who said it) that it checks against the loaded rom. and my feeling is the sms fix wasnt corrected in the 6.5 version but the caller id was, possibly. I have Tilt 2 from ATT and it has WinMo 6.5 on it stock, just hardspl-ed it to add the newest radio to it, which is 100x better then the stock version that came with the ATT rom.
The hotfixes only work on the stock ROM. Not sure if the fact that the OP changed the Hard SPL and the radio would prevent the hotfixes from installing. And the stock ROM for the Tilt 2 is WM 6.5, not 6.1.
I know the tilt 2 comes with 6.5 I stated that already but I tried the caller id fix before I hard spl when I had it only couple of days ago and still wouldnt update on the stock att rom with no tinkering.
The hotfixes will work on HardSpled phone as long as rom is original. I did mine when they first came out with no issues.
I also looked a little more closely at this, I installed the rom 1.86.401.0 that comes with the radio 4.49.25.14 and the date of this is new compared to the hotfixes, with that said would it be safe to assume the hot fix is already implimented? Cause ever since I dumped the ATT stock rom and add this htc original rom, and the tweaks I wanted to add, I have had no issues with the phone and have not installed the hotfixes except for the keyboard which seems to have come out after this rom update.
Any word on how we can get it to work on the phone with other roms?? or if I go back to th eoriginal will it work... I am basically stuck in limbo every time i go into sms now and i am about to drop kick the phone.
IDK why, but since I have installed the new ROM released by T-Mobile, my phone is nothing but trouble. My text messages are really slow. Once I click the "All Messages" tab and I click on a conversation it needs 10 seconds to load it. Then if I try to go back, the phone freezes and the only way to unfreeze it is to soft reset it.
Then the Wi-Fi sharing doesnt work. I installed it but there is no trace of it in the whole phone.
The phone it self is slow. After a reset needs few mins (up to 10) to load that little quick menu that is located on the top right corner of the screen. No matter what I want to do it needs a sh*t load of time to do it.
It annoys the f*ck out of me, does someone else have the same problems with this ROM?
I apologize for the swears but I am really annoyed by this THING and I want to go back to the stock 6.1 or a cooked ROM.
BTW when I tried to download the HARDSPL from the forum, my anti-virus told me that there is a trojan in it.
P.S. I just saw that it doesnt show me the notification for new SMS, also I have the annoying (1) on the SMS icon in the HTC Sence. I know I can fix it with the fix that is given in the forum, im just saying... Is that a bug that should still be there? I am disappointed with WM, the 6.5 has more problems than the 6.1...
I've noticed when upgrading to vzw 6.5 my phone was slow too. I stuck with it for a couple days and gave up all hope. I'm now on MightyRom and occasionally load up SPB mobile shell. Mobile shell requires more frequent restarts (every other day). The mightyrom is mad stable and hasn't given me problems (you can't use mightyrom it is cdma only, I suggest pheonix or valkryie for you).
HardSPL is not a trojan if you download it from this site or ppc geeks, no need to worry on that end (i'm running business class vipre and malwarebytes professional).
I was running McAfee.
Can you give me a link for the HardSPL? Ill be looking for a cooked rom, but that will be when I am home. Anyway, Ill have another post in this topic soon, since I just did a hard reset and I want to see if it gives me the same problems, but so far is still slow and I don't give it much hope...

you should install nopushinternet and ssk dynamic resource proxy cabs, those will help out immensely with some of that device lag. ( http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=1295157&postcount=2 )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=232414&d=1254156455
Personally I don't like McAfee or any of those bundled suites that dell/hp/gateway/etc include. Kaspersky, Vipre, ESET, BitDefender are all better IMO.
Downloaded it. It showed improovement right away just like you said.
Also downloaded HardSPL, McAfee shows no trojans. I will look for the ROMs you recomended and ill get back to the topic soon.
I'm not getting the same problems with the 6.5 update. It might be the other programs that you're running in addition to the update. I don't get the Quick Menu delay. Wifi sharing has been working.
Hard-SPL has NO trojans! This has to do with how they packed the file. For some reason, security programs have issues with it. Just completely disable all your security for a little bit and install it, no trojan.
I have no problems with my 6.5 update. Maybe you should try hard reseting your phone or flashing the software again.
Seeing as it has been way over a month since this was released and beyond your load voice, there have been few if any complaints, I'm doubting this update was a complete fail. As such your topic heading is WRONG.
And tell us what steps you took in flashing the update, was it a success. How did you restore your data to the device? Is it possible that your restore of text messages corrupted the device somehow (faulty backup/restore software?).
Again, I would hard reset/reflash the device. Load no software or backups and see how your text messages are.
I upgraded to Tmo 6.5 the night I got my phone, so I can't comment on the 15 mins I used 6.1 for. But all I know is that after 6.5 it was like getting the phone all over again. Everything worked perfectly, then I started getting stuff off these forums. While 98% of all the cabs and apps work great, and work flawlessly on the system, there's been a handful that haven't. I've down the "Clear Storage" 5 times since yesterday b/c I think I have finally developed a plan..
All I can say is that the swype 3.9 keyboard totally killed my phone, had to do sys restore for that (twice b/c I thought it was something else before I read that thread) I've tried all the WiFi Sharing cabs, and the only one that works is AssasinsLament 'slotted' cabs. Just chose any number of those and it will show up in your start menu, however, never your CommManager. SoftKey manager doesn't work (or anything to change the softkeys b/c TF3d overrides it no matter what)
Why would I want no-push-internet? I always want my phone to be connected, or am I missing something? I don't use exchange, and its off in my CommMgr, do I still need a cab??
but yeah, I don't think this rom is FAIL, if anything, I hope they release 6.5.3 w/ Sense 2.5 if they aren't going to give us our WPS7..that would be nice. But yeah, back to my plan, I never want to use a cooked ROM, not that I don't trust anyone, but its just damn scary and don't want to miss out on any stock features, so I just created a directory on my PC HDD called "Good Roms" once I determine which work the best, they will be there, I'll do one final Clear Storage and get it rocking!
I actually agree with him. tmo 6.5 update felt like the device was running through mud. everything was slow, scrolling, loading programs etc. the memory usage was too high as well; why anyone would want 66% of their resources dedicated to running eye candy is beyond me. the speed was fixed, for me, by installing cell pro and or cell evo roms. that guys roms are insane stable and fast. however the problem, again, was the memory usage which is a symptom of sense 2.1 or higher (dont get me started on sense 2.5). his roms were awesome but running multiple programs almost became impossible. i could open opera 9.7 and maybe one other program in the background. if i tried more than that i ran into memory issues. i like having my most commonly used programs loaded and ready to go. couldnt do that with any sense 2.1 roms. when I reverted back to stock 6.1 tf3d 2.1 every thing was fixed: speed and memory. now i can have opera open in the background (usually 4-5 tabs open) mylifeorganized, pocket informant, pocket player, newsbreak, email, pocket quicken, and excel. even with all that open in the background I am around 65% memory consumed, a full 1% less than sense 2.1 allows by itself.
what would be nice is wm 6.5 or 6.5.x with tf3d. small footprint interface and a userfriendly os.
I have to agree with the OP. I did the 6.5 update and immediately regretted it. Thank goodness cdguider posted a 6.1 for back up!!
Programs that worked well in 6.1 became glitchy in 6.5. It was slower than molasses, and I dropped calls and missed text messages.
As with ALL roms, it is a matter of personal taste. I went back to 6.1 and have been a happy camper. For me it seems to be the more stable and reliable rom...and I tried MANY, stock and cooked. 6.1 just works better with the applications that I NEED. I like the eye candy of 6.5, but eye candy isn't worth it if it doesn't run the way I need it to.
I had a Wizard for many years and was a rom flashing fiend. While I have tried many cooked roms here, the stock 6.1 seems to be the best fit. This is not a fault of the great Rhodium chefs, but rather, I believe, fault with WinMo/Manilla/Sense and whatever else is frankenstein'd into 6.5 roms.
same here. 6.5 has been a disaster from day one. i am going back to 6.1 .i soft reset 10+ times a day just so my phone does not grind to a hault. gwes.exe is a system program and is the problem, its just no one can fix it
I did do the flash correctly. I did it exactly as the tmo web site said. Also, I have done hard reset and I have done the flash again... no help. Now im running fireSTORM_LEO-v6 WWE, and my phone is a whole new thing. No lag, no freezing. Of course there are some things I dont like about this ROM but its all cosmetic, and im sure there are cabs out there that can help. Also, somebody said that it might be the programs I am running or the text messages and data that I have on the phone. No it is not that because the phone was giving me problems even before I restored the data on the phone.
Thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts. I will rename the topic since its obviously not a complete fail.
