Thanks for the fast reply
Ahh, ok, if i want english thats the rom i should use right?
Do you know anything about the other questions? is there a better choise like a cooked ROM that have the basic tweeks allready done.
The only thing i want now is a fast windows mobile that has good battery time
I want to use the phone as a sip phone (wm6voip) seams to be the best way to go there

Strange
In this thread they say that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211
Download OliNex Unsigned Hard-SPL (Developers Edition) from here;
is it not more safe with a signed version?
Is this true?
If i only want to use "Original Shipped ROM Versions" then signed Hard-SPL is the best
if i want to use "Cooked ROM versions" then i should NOT use signed Hard-SPL (due to Brick risk)
is Hard-SPL signed/unsigned used for flashing roms or does it effect signed app code or something in the OS?

Ping
Someone out there that have any more info on this
That have time and energy to explain

First of get the Unsigned Hard-SPL if you want to flash cooked roms (yes OliNex Unsigned Hard-SPL works). Secondly any WWE release will make your phone OS English, you'll even have to add Swedish keyboard layouts and t9 manually (cabs exists).
What rom/radio you want is a subjective preference but I can recommend CT's v. 6.4 HD. And if you don't want a HD rom try CT's original, udK's syrius or duttys newest rom.
As for radios, again it's a matter of preference but personally I didn't like 1.09.25.23 (battery drainage) so I recommend 1.08.25.20 or 1.00.25.05.

ok

Thanks alot for the info, this is relly helpful, sorry but a few more questions.
1. If i start with a ship orginal rom is "OliNex Unsigned Hard-SPL" a bad idea?
is there any brick risk if i have a Unsigned Hard-SPL and dont update the rom
ie. if i install stuff in the os and such, am i at risk or is the ONLY when flashing stuff with RUU?
2. Is this the keyboard layout that you mean. What is t9?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460872&highlight=swedish+keyboard+layout
Found that t9 = text on 9 keys
3. What is "HD rom" is it for dimond HD only, i have a diamond touch
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460832
4. if i take a ship orginal rom, does it overwrite HARD-SPL?
we have 3 comp. here radio, os , bootloader and as i understand if i try to update them one by one then i must have a unsigned HARD-spl
Radio v1.00.25.05 <-- seams to be best but is it safe to use that with the newest orginal rom and is there a special order i should flash it in
HARD-SPL is the only thing iam 100% that it goes first
Radio thread

1.
I'm not sure I understand that question but if you want to stick with the official htc roms there is no need to mess with SPL. Changing SPL will most likely void your warranty (you can change it back though if the phone isn't totally messed up). Installing software on the phone will not brick it regardless of SPL version, you can always hard reset if you mess anything up.
2.
Yes that's one of them. If you flash your diamond with a WWE rom you will want to install something like that to (more easily) write texts in Swedish.
3.
A HD rom has some of the touch HD's functions (such as stock tab) ported to diamond. So it's not for the touch HD and yes you can use it on your diamond
4.
Original roms that you get from htc's website will not, as far as I know, change your SPL. The radio/rom order doesn't matter though some roms have a specific radio embedded in them and will overwrite your previous radio. Yes you can use v1.00.25.05 with any rom.
So in conclusion change to a unsigned hard-SPL if you want to change radio or flash a unofficial rom. If not, just play around with different tweaks and skins and if you mess anything up your warrenty should cover it.
Peace

Info?
Does someone else have some good to know info taht thay want to share

i can play the european htc firmware wwe but how can play this firmware to my htc
Sers,
I got an O2 branded device too, the problem with some roms is that they're containing SPL. So in this case the RUU tryes to flash the new SPL which is impossible because of the write protection of hard-SPL.
So you could extract the SPL from the .nbh which comes with this packet or you have to flash any rom which doesn't contain a SPL.

What exactly is a (Hard)SPL? I din't got it fully.

Hey guys,
there are two ways to flash this rom if u got hard spl on your device.
1. should be the better one for u if u dont't really know what hard spl developer edition means:
flash back your device to stock spl 1.37 an then you will be able to flash stock images
2. use any diamond or kaiser kitchen to extract spl from nbh.
if you don't know how, please don't ask in a millions of threads about it - just search and read

tutorial/description/info/guide

Hi everyone!
Here's the deal! I'm no noob to flashing, cooking and HardSPL as I'm positive there are plenty of users who are swimming in the same pool.
Moving from another device's forum (Trinity) to the Diamond forum is quite a shock. So many posts, so many threads.
There are so many HardSPLs. OK, no problem! But what I DO miss is a tutorial thread with nice and clear descriptions stating for instance "You will need this HardSPL for this ROM", ""You will need this HardSPL for Official ROM", "You don't need any HardSPL for Official ROM", etc.
For instance:
I'm running an old version of Radio and Official Diamond ROM (Stock), 1.00.25.03 Radio and 1.37.479.3 WWE ROM.
Bootloader version is:
Code:
DIAM100 64M
SPL-1.37.0000
MicroP-Diam (LED) v11
PSOC-Diam STAGE_PVT v0x30
I'd like to first upgrade to another Official ROM, like RUU_Diamond_hTC_Asia_HK_WWE_1.93.831.1.
No info on following:
- changing an original to another original ROM: is there need for HardSPL?
- changing a supposed EU original to an Asia original ROM: is there need for HardSPL?
- if there is need for it when upgradin ROM, which one to choose based on bootloader info?
- if there is need for it when upgradin Radio, which one to choose based on bootloader info?
etc.
I can live with my new device with stock ROM, I can tweak it, no problem.
But it is my strong belief that a detailed tutorial/description/info/guide thread could get a nice sticky.
Something that would make new users like:
"Oh, I just bought a Diamond, I read this sticky, compared my bootloader info with the ones stated in the thread, checked my ROM and Radio, checked my new ROM and Radio which I want to flash, so I need this/I don't need any HardSPL and it worked"
Yes, call it spoon-feeding, but while looking at the Forums and reading and searching, there's so much clutter some can't even find the Search button!
My two cents!
I totally agree !!! We are needing that "tutorial for dummies"
Im new to the Diamond forum too, had a tytn for ages though.
I found everything i needed to know on the wiki

Yes, but still, is there any need for HardSPL when flashing to another Official HTC ROM? And is there any need for HardSPL when flashing to another issuer of the Official HTC ROM (from EU to Asia HK)?

You don't need HardSPL to flash an official ROM. If you want to be really sure then simply go to the HTC site (I used HTC Europe), register as a user, input your phone's serial number and it should tell you that you can download the 1.93 ROM. This way you can do a 100% official upgrade before deciding if you want to use a cooked ROM.

Contradictory information?
Now since I don't have any updates in my own e-Club, there's the HardSPL option with other (even Official) ROMs.
Question is: which one? (1.23, 1.24, 1.34, Developer edition, Hard-SPL-Diamond-OliNex, HardSPL_OliNex138_Signed or RUU_Signed_1_93OliNex_HSPL_UnsignedEdition).
This is crazy!
Maybe that's the difference then - perhaps ROM downloads via the e-club are treated differently, although I can't think how.
Seems that Cmonex and Olipro are the SPL experts here (I'm sure you've already seen this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400402) so maybe they're the best ones to help.
If it helps I updated to HardSLP 1.4 and ran quite happily on my stock ROM before upgrading to Dutty's ROM. I guess it's down to how adventurous/risky you want to be.
Good luck.
1. look at the next posts, i blew it on this answer..
i like my diamond with hardspl and unlocked (using the developers, unsigned hardspl). i advice you to do the same. this covers all, signed, unsigned and official ROMs.
here, an answer from THE expert:

2. if i convinced you to hardspl then go to the unsigned version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400950.
i am using it from the beginning (2 month at least) and i flashed my diamond 4 times without any problem at all.

i wonder what happened to you.... learn from post #3!! you are a ROM cook...you are the "uber" user! we should ask you questions
I know you say if you flash an official (uncooked) ROM to your handset then you don't need SPL however I have a Vodafone branded Diamond which won't allow you to flash a non Vodafone branded ROM so I am ssuming that you still need to use SPL to go to an unbranded ROM even if it is generic HTC.

i think you are right. never thought at this scenario.....
usually i don't buy my pda branded. no plan, no 3 years, free as a bird!
thanks for bringing it to my attention.
yeah, hard-spl to allow you to flash ROMs from other regions..
technically you shouldn't need it to 'protect' your device since its an official ROM upgrade, but then again you're trying to flash an upgrade that's not from your region so not too sure how that affects your warranty.. i would stick with hard-spl no matter what.
Although you may experience better results with certain ROMs using a certain SPL (this hasn't been clearly shown on the diamond to my knowledge) seems like the SPL is more tied to your hardware (why certain people get screen flicker and fuzzy fonts after flashing.. wrong SPL). so it stands to reason if your hardware doesn't change, you *shouldn't* have to change your SPL just cause you're flashing a new ROM
KukurikU said:

I have experince now with 3 HTC devices: 1. i had Trinity with wwe rom when i bought it-> try to put it to my language (Finnish ROM) didnt work, used hardspl-> it worked
2. Polaris with wwe 6.0 rom, tried to update to the latest wm6.0 rom which was a rom from Singapore, no succes-> put hardspl in device->it worked
3. In my Diamond i put hardspl right away(after 2 hour use), so that one i didnt test at all, based on my previous experience I didnt even try to flash the official 1.93 rom witout hardspl
So at least my concution is that u must have hardspl even when you want to flash a official rom from another region. Dont offcourse no if that is a fact, just what i have experience
[/QUOTE]So at least my concution is that u must have hardspl even when you want to flash a official rom from another region. Dont offcourse no if that is a fact, just what i have experience[/QUOTE]
From my experience from the diamond, you have to flash hardspl onto your handset before you can use 'other region' roms even when it is 'official'.
I have a HK WWE handset and tried to flash my rom with the first upgrade rom from SEA, and it wouldnt flash. it would say my handset is not from the correct region.
i flashed a hard spl afterwards and it worked.
So from pak1234 experience we can make some conclusion? its the same experience I got with Polaris and Trinity

Hi,
As a total recent Noob (TRN), I spent about 2 working days trying to find out where to start. In particular, the definition of HardSPL, ROM and Radio.
It was very difficult to ramp up to speed. you guys rock, seriously, but your community can thrive if you lower the gate a bit. Think about all the time you'll save in the long run by giving noobs somewhere to start. 'There are no stupid questions, only arrogant responses'. -- I read that somewhere here.
For anyone who enjoys noob-razing, come visit me and I'll stick you in with my horses. Get some payback.
A Where-To-Start sticky would help enormously.
peace.
PS - Eventually I found www.modmydiamond.info and started reading. I nearly cried when my Swiss language-locked Diamond started talking in good auld English.

congrats on yr first successfull step (english language on yr swiss locked diamond)! perseverance and good reading skills pay back.
welcome to our forum!
from yr post i can understand that you started as an intelligent user/member of this forum (as opposed to noob) by using this forum accordingly with it's rules.
there are stupid questions. if one of the next is called by somebody "arrogant response" then he'll have to adjust or just grow elephant skin (i can name a few that already did):
1. "search, this was already posted". (most used)
2. "read the manual." (almost an insult)
3. "read wiki." (friendly, useful advice)
4. "most of the polls are useless." (no comment necessary)
5. "comparisons between any other ppc and diamond does not belong here, this a diamond only forum." (sadly not enough enforced)
a noob is not somebody with a low count of posts. a noob is somebody with a noobish attitude (total disregard of the forum's rules and it's members, wanting everything now, ready, chewed and put in his mouth).
respect the forum and it's members and you'll get respect and help beyond yr wildest dreams.
yr PS only confirm all from the above.
i prefer not to comment yr horses-payback threat
noob here
Hello all, noob here, just got my diamond via vodafone NL.
The device is sim locked contrary to what the agreement with was.
The current rom running on it makes this device incredibly slow, my brother has an p3300 which works way faster than my diamond (but does not look so nice).
This made me start looking for a solution. I've been reading this site for three full days and I'm still very confused, everything and it's contrary is written here, how is one supposed to draw a conclusion?
With that said I would like to see a well written tutorial in plain english and that does not assume the reader is a techie.
It should explain:
- How to backup the original ROM and hardSPL
- How to flash a new rom and avoid issues with screen flickering and so on
- How to restore the original ROM and hardSPL in case the device needs to be send back for repair
- Clarify what to do with radio roms
- How to unlock a device to be used with any sim card (ok this already exists, i've seen the sticky)
Thanks
One more question to be added
- Why would you need a CID and security unlocker?
I thought it was just another name for sim card lock but apparently not.

One question concerning the Oficiall-ROM flash.

Sorry for asking, especially when there is high probably an answer somewhere here already... however I've been searching but couldn't find the information I need...
I have an German o2 Diamond with:
ROM 1.37.207.2 GER
Radio: 1.00.25.03
SPL 1.37.0000 (DIAM300)
And I want to install the latest official HTC english version ROM with radio, suitable for the central Europe region. What would you suggest?
RUU_Diamond_HTC_Europe_1.93.401.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship?
And my question: is it necessary to install any SPL (HardSPL) primarily in this particular case? (When replacing an oficiall ROM with some other only?)
If yes, what a version of HardSPL should I use then?
Can you help me? Many thanks in advance!
Best regards, Marek.

ROM choice is OK.
Since you are going from GER to WWE I think HardSPL is needed. You could try first without HardSPL of course.
I would recommend the 1.24mfg, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408621.
If that gives any problems use the one in my signature.

Is there really no one who has/had the same problem/question?
(It seems to me it's a kind of quite fundamental question!)
Or... is it safe just to 'try' to install another oficiall (e.g. WWE in my case) ROM without any HardSPL?
(I guess I am not a freak but rather a careful user ;-)
May I get also some more info about the SPL versions? Is it necessary/recommended to have e.g. the 'same' version of SPL and ROM?

Official P3600i Win 6.0 ROM SWE or WWE anyone!

Hi everyone!
I´m interested in upgrading my P3600 now having Win 5.0 SVE official HTC ROM on it (RUU_Trinity_HTC_SVE_1.23.413.2_103_6275_1.38.00.11_108_Ship), to Win 6.0/6.1 SVE (or WWE) official HTC ROM.
Can anyone help me with that?
Is it possible to use this Tytn ROM (HTC_TyTN_SVE_3.54.263.2_102_6275_1.47.00.10_108) without bricking my device.
Regards Matti

let me get this straight - you're asking if flashing TyTN firmware into Trinity is safe?
Yeah sure, go on
jesus christ, where did these people come from

No, do not try it. ONLY flash ROMs specifically designed for your phone. (At least that's what I 'think' jedai was trying to say. )
Thank You SuperSport! We need less sarcasms on the web......I feel kinda stupid, but one cannot catch up with everything. I´ll stick to the official Win 5.0 then I guess!!

There are official WM6 roms out there for the P3600i ... and plenty of non-official (but very good) WM6.1 and WM6.5 roms for P3600i too.
eg:
Official WM6 (Aus WWE) Trinity_HTC_WWE_3.00.707.18_Radio_1.46.30.11
Just don't install any roms that are for other phones
If you are going to install any cooked (non-official) roms just make sure you really have a P3600i and not a standard Trinity (the "i" model will have 256M of Storage Memory). There are different roms for P3600i and Trinity.
But please ... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ... Install HardSPL before you try and put _any_ rom on there!
How to install HardSPL bootloader on your P3600i
(link removed because user has Trinity not P3600i)
Otherwise we all end up here again
...hi the.decoy!!
Official WM6 (Aus WWE) Trinity_HTC_WWE_3.00.707.18_Radio_1.46.30.11
- is really this an official win6 rom for trinity?or is it only radio?!?I just thought htc never had made other official roms out of win 5....!

Yeah It's real. Pretty sure it is the rom that my p3600i actually came with (I know it already had WM6 on it when I bought it).
It contains a Radio Update also, but it is primarily a ROM update.
The Trinity shipped with WM5 but there were offcial WM6 updates for that too.
Have you confirmed which model you have yet? What is you total Storage Memory size?

...it's a trin 100
speed 400 mhz
ram size 64 mb
flash size 128 mb
data bus 32 bits
storage size 62.86 mb
display 240x320
65536 colors
actually I'm using rubenalf 's supersport translation of win 6.5...sometimes soft reset becames hard reset, and in the latest month tom tom gives graphic problems-
- I'd like to really format everything, but mtty procedure isn't enough maybe...!
so if I try using this old official rom for some days, maybe my trin will rise again....

You have a TRINITY not a P3600i.
You need to use SuperSport's HardSPL guide and not the one I gave you.
You are free to use pretty much any of the Official WM6 roms that are out there.
Hi!
I didn´t know that the P3600i had more memory. As I understood it the P3600 and the P3600i was the same but the "i" had the GPS enabled from start.....
Now, i have a P3600, any links to official HTC win6 ROM anyone?

This is the Official OEM WM6 with GPS Enabled. It also includes the SPL, OEM Boot Screens, and Radio 1.46.30.11. If you plan to flash other ROMS after installing this one, be sure to flash Hard SPL Back on. This Flash overwrites HardSPL. This ROM can also be used so you can return your phone for warranty repairs (although I doubt there are any warranties on these still).

PS: Occasionally, I flash this ROM just to clean things up again, and it's sorta nice to run it for a day or so. Very fast and works without problems. I just end up missing the WM6.5 features, so I start flashing again.

Just a quick clarification, the P3600i had more storage (which is technically a kind of flash memory).
Sorry but I have to take every opportunity to beat to death this "P3600i has more RAM" myth that plagues the Trinity forum
Thanks!! I´m a total noob when it comes to ROM upgrading. All I want is a working official win6 or win6.1 ROM, preferably SVE but WWE will also be nice.
Again, Thanks to all helpful people out here!
Hi again SuperSport!
I tried the Dopod Asia ROM but got an "invalid vendor" error so I put my original win5 ROM back in....Do I need to change the SPL?

Maybe someone can confirm this for me, but I believe that is exactly what is needed. I am on my phone now, so no link, but be sure you have HardSPL 1.20, and also be sure to enter into Tri-Color screen mode before flashing.
Yeah, the standard SPL is locked to region (SVE), ModelID (TRIN***) and sometimes even Carrier vendor, regarding what ROMs that it will allow you to install.
Even though it is an official OEM 6.1 rom you will definitely need to Hard SPL on there to be able to flash that WWE rom.
As usual, all I can say is ... why wouldn't you install HardSPL?
It is purely an improvement on the original SPL, which provides you the safety of flashing directly from the the Tri-color screen.
Successful ROM upgrading
Hi Decoy and SuperSport!
Thanks tou You guys i dared to try the "FInixNOver_3.6_Normal_Black" WM6.1 ROM.
I was still not able to use the DopodAsian WM6 ROM due to the error "invalid device vendor", but it might be me unsecure in using Olipro HardSpl.
-If i would like to restore SVE WM5.0 ROM back to the device I must install Olipro HardSpl again since it´s overwritten, right?

If you installed HardSPL and then only flashed FInixNOver, then HardSPL is still on your device. If you've flashed an OEM ROM onto your phone, then HardSPL has been overwritten.
With that in mind, if you are going to flash an OEM SVE ROM back onto your phone, then you don't need HardSPL on it because the OEM ROM would in fact write OEM SPL over it anyways.
To verify if you still have a HardSPL installed, enter into bootloader screen and see what is listed there.
To check which SPL is on your device:
*** Enter Tri Color Screen ***
--Hold down the Power & Camera Buttons
--While still holding them down, press the Reset Button using the Stylus
--Release the Reset Button, but continue to hold the Power/Camera buttons until you see the Tri Color Screen.
If you see 1.30.Olipro, 1.20.Olipro, or 9.99 CP, then you already have Hard-SPL on your device. I recommend 1.20 or 1.30 Olipro. To go back to your phone, press the reset button again using your stylus.
To repeat what the.Decoy said before. Please don't try flashing 'Custom' ROMs without having HardSPL installed. It can render you phone unusable. If you are only flashing OEM STOCK ROMs, then you are fine.

i need help with an opinion!! thnks :)

hello i would like to know if you could help me decide... i have this htc diamond with a ROM 1.93.422.4 WWE wich is the one the phone brought and i wanted to know if theres a better ROM thn tht one and if its compatible with the phone... like ive been reading about this one 1.93.831.1 WWE but i dont know wich one is better or if its compatible.... help me please
If it's the first time you flash a ROM, you have to follow the HardSPL tutorial.
After your Diamond have HSPL, you can flash which ROM you want, there are lots of good ROM in this section, i suggest you Maemo ROMs but you should try it yourself.
I'm using Celoni Tribute ITA, he also released a WWE version with WM6.5.x and HTC Sense.
Im using 2.03.xxxx
Get them from the Diamond Stock ROM WIKI
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Diamond_Upgrades
hey thanks a lot but do i need to do a HSPL to upgrade to those ROMS? the shipped ones? and any HSPL would work? or i have to flash an specific one in order to upgrade the ROM to the shipped one 2.03.xxx ?
No it should flash fine if it is your operator
If it is a different operator, maybe, Im not sure
so i dont have to do any HSPL ? just run the rom with the phone on activesync and thts it? and i think my phone is not flashed with HSPL it will work without doing it?
If it's the right ROM for your phone you'll be able to flash it even without HSPL, but it has to be an official update, check on the HTC website for your IMEI.
I suggest you to use HSPL to have a very higher choose, there are lots of ROMs here, official ones are outdated nowadays.
ohhh ok thanks!!... is there any rom that lets me use htc sense on the diamond?
Sense is WM6.5
If you are going to flash a 6.5 ROM you need to unlock it and HardSPL etc
TouchFlo is the 6.1 version of sense, its almost the same without the eye candy
Hi,
Check this out and pick what suits you best.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649841
I've been using GTX for a couple days w/out problems, although it's not the fastest ROM I've ever used looks-goodies/speed ratio is very reasonable.
Of course you have to HSPL your phone before flashing.
Also It's highly recommended to use radio 1.17.25.09 which I think is the latest.
I've had it installed even before flashing GTX and used it with wm 6.5 ROMs in USA, Mexico, Canada, Germany & Greece w/out problems. It's Quad-Band.
