Has anyone else noticed that the HV to RGU and RGU to HV convertors Suck.
None of them work properly and they throw load of errors up.
Below is an example of what i am getting:

You have to manually site there pressing return all the way through BOTH registry rgu's
what is the problem with this. does anyone else get this?
I have been sat here for 3 hours trying to get all of the entries on separate lines.
there has to be a faster way of doing this?
are you seriously trying to tell my that JJ, Sleuth, Schaps etc etc all sit there for hours pressing return?
No i dont think so, so it is possible that someone can enlighted me as to what i am doing wrong
thanks

Ive never experienced any errors with rgu to hv and voce versa conversions. I'm still using CORE's Kitchen!
Set 'Wordwrap' to 'off' when editing if using Notepad.
And make sure you set it to Unicode and not ANSI...
You have to check a few things.
1) REGEDIT4 at the top of the file
2) wordwrap is off
3) Save as Unicode
4) Leave a blank line at the last part.

Right.
Never 'take for granted' every details.
make sure you have both .dll's present in the directory when you make the conversions (cereg400.dll & msvcr71.dll).
i had similar issues and found out I forgot to copy one of them althou everything "seemed" to work fine.
cheers,

Somewhat related issue ... any help appreciated...
I'm trying to build a package for one of the apps I always use. I have been somewhat successful, but I see (when doing a WinDiff comparison on REG dumps before and after CAB installation), that there are several more Registry Entries created than can be gleaned from the CAB file. Several of these REG entries include a CLSID.
I used one of the online GUID generators to provide me with the GUIDs for the DSM and RGU files ... no problem.
But the CLSID entries already in my registry dumps obviously don't match this ID. So, do I:
1) make the CLSID entries in my RGU to match the ones in my REG dump?, or
2) make the CLSID entries in my RGU the same as the ones generated for my DSM and RGU files?, or
3) Change the GUID numbers on my DSM and RGU to match those of the REG dump?
Does it matter WHICH way I do it? Do my GUID numbers need to match the CLSID numbers at all?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot,

A dump question I'm sure, I started cooking recently and I'm wondering what I could accomplish with this application. In what scenario would I use it? Thanks, 12
Thanks. One problem I had w/ rgucomp is missing unicode support.

Well I think I'm starting to understand. As I always have had the luxury of initflashfiles.txt or app.reg and never edited the .hv manually. It was unclear to me why I would need this or what it would add to a kitchen that supports those features (initflashfiles.txt and app.reg)
So does this app have a function in such a kitchen, I mean is there anything I will need to do manually that can't be done otherwise or is this more like a general app so that the hives on any phone can be more easily changed?
Thanks 12
@AnDim, PMed you.
Have anyone used this program? It's not working well for me. I use it fo rgu to hv convert but when i compare the output hv file with cereg alot different files

Hi,
thanks for this software it works great, if you now how to put this commands.
My experience was this:
D:\>hvedit.exe hive d:\hive
or:
D:\>hvedit.exe hive d:\hive\user.hv
I'm getting this:
(HVEdit) !ERROR: failed building DEFAULT hives.
When I copy HVEdit.exe and cereg400.dll to d:\hive and run this:
D:\hive>hvedit.exe d:\hive\user.hv
I'm getting this:
Admsoft (R) HVEdit Version 2.0.035
Hive and registry file editor.
(C) 2009 AnDim, XDA-Developers.
(HVEdit) Extracting user.hv ...
(HVEdit) Done! and only 21.kB of 69kB .hv file
When I run it on system.hv like this:
D:\hive>hvedit.exe d:\hive\system.hv
I'm getting this:
(HVEdit) Extracting system.hv ...
ERROR: C:\MacB\private\winceos\COREOS\filesys\reg\reghive\.\registry.c line 172: Reg: Invalid reghandle 0x20000a61
and 144kB .hvm file of 105kB .hv
I didn't mention it but I was trying to convert .hv to .hvm
Maybe my dump has got some errors in it.
Any idea what is wrong, why the user.hvm is so small?
Thank you AnDim for great software. It is quite difficult to find out utility for ce hive.
After use for a period I would to to report some small problem.
1. Long multi string was trimed. (Maybe fixed length variable in code) See Ex.
Registry key in my rgu file is
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt]

"\\mxip_system.vol",

2.The size of hv file is larger than original. (This is not effect functional just file size is increase from 732kb to 744kb for instance.)
After investigate, there was extra length on data key which have length just fit 32 bits size. (Maybe when adjust cell size to fit 32 bits)
Hope my comment will be some benefit for you for next version.

This seems to be JUST what I am looking for .... but I am having problems trying to use I suspect is simply a case of finger-trouble on my part, so will greatly appreciate any help available from AnDim or any other users who can point me in the right direction, please.
I think I correctly understand the command line syntax and have run HVEdit to unpack a default.hv registry file taken from a dumped ROM (Toshiba TG01). I then made some basisc edits to the resulting .hmv file and used HVEdit again to recompile back to .hv.
When the ROM is recompiled and flashed it refused to boot. So I went back and tried using HVEdit to convert to .hmv and back without making any changes. Same problem.
I have attached the .bat files i used to run for reference....View attachment 305797
I have been reading about a need to insert REGEDIT4 at the start of the file; have tried doing so but that just results in an error.
Any guidance will be greatly appreciated

hi guys,
sorry if this is not the correct place for this post..
This is in windows mobile on my HTC HD2.
I have been trying to use mortscript to create a little batch file that I could click on to remove the \Android folder and all of its contents on the root of my \Storage Card
i made this file called removeandroid.mscr
and here are the contents of that file:
******************************************
DelTree(Android)
RmDir(Android))
Message("The Android Files Have Been Deleted")
******************************************
Now, when i ran it, it deleted just about every file that was contained on my \Storage Card....
can someone help me with the syntax please ?
this file will reside on the root of the \Storage Card
possibly it might be with forward slashes in front of Android like this ....
******************************************
DelTree(Android)
RmDir(Android))
Message("The Android Files Have Been Deleted")
******************************************
the * symbols are just here for this posting, they do not reside in the file.
thanks for your help.
kevin rea
palmdale, calif.
Deltree probably did not like that you did not have a clear path to what to delete.
Try
Code:
If( DirExists("\Storage Card\Android"))
DelTree("\Storage Card\Android")
RmDir("\Storage Card\Android")
Message("The Android Files Have Been Deleted")
Else
Message("The Adroid Folder Was Not Found on Storage Card")
EndIf
Thanks very much Rory !!

Hi there,
I'm porting an app which uses SQL to query a SQLCE db.
Now under WP7 I switched over to XML files.
Can anyone help me to "translate" the following SQL sentence to Linq to XML ?
Code:
Dim SQL As String = String.Empty
Dim USERENTRY As String = String.Empty
SQL = "SELECT Info.INFO_COMMENTS FROM Names INNER JOIN Info ON Names.NAME_ID = Info.INFO_NAME_ID "
SQL = SQL + "WHERE (Names.PARENTS_NAME_ID = " & "'" & USERENTRY & "') "
SQL = SQL + "GROUP BY Info.INFO_COMMENTS "
SQL = SQL + "ORDER BY Info.INFO_COMMENTS"
My skills are very low right now to deal with this...
On the other hand, if someone can point me to a some kind of tool to make the conversion or a great tutorial, that will be great too!
Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers
I'm not Linc expert, but the quickest way to get your sql server output into an xml format is to use the FOR XML statement:
SELECT * FROM TABLE FOR XML
Whether this is the correct syntax for Linc, I don't know, but it may point you down the right path.
Google "sql server for xml"
Hello,
Your SQL request depends on your db schema. The Linq to XML request over a XML will depend on the XML structure.
So we need to see your XML file to help you.

As the Badger says, post some sample XML and we can take a look...
Also, check out Linqpad for a collection of Linq To Xml samples and a great way to learn Linq in general (it will change your coding )
