After syncing the Dash with my desktop Outlook I was surprised to see that the Notes field does not exist in the Mobile Contacts.
As well I noticed that the notes in Calendar and Tasks sync only one way - mobile to desktop. Quite an inconvenience.
Is it the MS Mobile Smartphone OS or the Dash problem?
Works fine for me -- notes in contacts, tasks, and calendar... Something related to your setup -- no idea what though.

I had the same problem with Cingular Blackjack. The problem is with ActiveSync. Use Activesync 4.1. Microsoft activesync has a bug in higher versions of activesync. I recommend 4.1 (Build 4841)
I've seen several complaints that AS 4.5Beta deletes notes from Appointments and Contacts, is that what you're using? Apparently AS 4.2 is fine. Upgrading to AS 4.5 also wipes all your partnerships without warning. Typical MS quality!
Hello everybody,
Microsoft Myphone service is still in a beta and available here:
https://sn1-p3.myphone.microsoft.com/mkweb/Start.po
First you have to register, then you are on a waiting list (it took 4-5 days untill activated for me)
Just for a reminder, MS Myphone is a service which allows you to synch contacts, calendar, documents, sms, tasks, etc... online.
You have 200MB available for free at start.
I got a few printscreens if you want, but their are in french... so let me know if you want them!
Myphone VS Google
I tried Myphone but i like the Google sync better.
What thoughts do you have using MYphone?
Hello, hum,i prefer use spb backup .My personal data on the net, it doesn't trust me!
I just got mine activated.... and to tell you the truth, i am a little suspicious about what kind of info they catalog.... but so far it has been beautiful. Flashing Roms will be so much less painful
I want to use MyPhone to sync SMS and contacts to the web with MyPhone service, but i want to keep using the new GoogleSync through ActiveSync for the calendar, but MyPhone don't allow synching contacts if activesync is set with google servers, any workaround?
Hi,
I'm synching my TP2 with my work's exchange server for mail, contacts, diary and tasks.
Everything works fine except for tasks. I'm finding that when I make changes to existing tasks on my TP2, they aren't updating back on the server, so when I get into the office and Outlook (2007) synchs the tasks folder, the tasks I updated are not updated.
It's intermittent, sometimes it does work fine. I also find that in ALL cases if I update tasks on the server (ie: from my office desktop) that the tasks are updated fine on my TP2.
It's really annoying me and I'm not sure how to address this. Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Pete
Me too, but task dates affected and all the time.
If I change my task dates for more than one task they all end up showing the same date as the first task I changed on the Exchange 2007 server/Outlook while my phone shows the correct dates. My experiences so far are...
Changing the task dates via the web or Outlook produces no problems.
MS Exchange 2003 - no problems.
MS Exchange 2007 - Exactly the same error with 2 different company servers.
MS MyPhone - no problems.
WM 6.0 and 6.1 phones (both HTC) - same problem with EX 2007.
All other data is synched correctly for tasks, emails, contacts etc.
Does anyone else have strange task syching problems... or even better know of a solution?
P.S. HTC, both Ex 2007 providers and MS forums unable to help so far...
Hi everybody,
the switch from my TyTN II to the Rhodium was far from painless so far. I use the T-Mobile German version with the 6.5 upgrade. Running on 6.1, the Rhodium was far from stable and I was fearing I'd break my back cover from having to remove it so often for a reset. But even the update to 6.5 didn't remove the following error:
After Syncing I find in my calendar (mainly on the current day) one or more rows of identical, empty appointments that cannot be deleted, or rather, that seem to show up again and again when deleted.
The trial version of "Duplicates Remover" then shows literally hundreds of identical appointments.
Does anybody know a fix for this, or a hint where the bug could originate?
I have mixed experiences with Active Sync as I'm synchronizing with two PCs, so appointments and contacts have been deleted/are cropping up again long after deletion. I wish it was as effortless as HotSync on my Palm used to be ...
I'm sorry if this question has been asked and answered before, but forum search didn't come up with anything useful (maybe I've used the wrong search terms).
Thanks, Robert
*bump*
anybody have the same issue? hundreds of empty appointments on the day I start sync? I talked to T-Mo support and they didn't know the problem.
Robert
I've noticed the same issue recently with my HTC diamond 2 after upgrading to Outlook 2007 SP2 on a Windows XP laptop with ActiveSync 4.5.0 (Build 5096). The problem did not exist previously when running Outlook 2003 and syncing the same laptop and device.
Also have the device syncing with a Vista laptop also running the Outlook 2007 SP2 without issue. The difference is that vista uses the mobile device centre software instead of ActiveSync. I've searched the internet for a patch or update to ActiveSync for Windows XP but it seems I'm running the most update version.
I have the same problem with windows live, outlook, plaxo, and messenger, the problem is messenger really doesn't like you messing with the contacts and pictures attached to messenger just aren't really supported and are more or less user defined by the contact... so you get multiples... then syncing can create a info loop... still working on the problem but as for the calender what I found is to go and remove the repeating occurance... bet this is where the problem lies I have loads of them! I ended up deleting the folder and starting over! I created a dummy folder set it as my default and then deleted the corrupted one... I have found no program that changes all repeating events to one time events...
<fingers crossed>
At the moment I seem to be rid of most of the duplicates. In the end I had to do another hard reset on the mobile device, clear the duplicates from Outlook (2003), then sync. I have not, as I had before, synced the HTC with a second PC.
</fingers crossed>
Active Sync is really an embararssing piece of software ...
Robert
I have a similar issue. Got a Diamond 2, at home I run Win7 with Mobile Center but at work I have XP SP2 with AS. I get tons of blank appointments being created. If I disable calendar syncing, I get hundreds of blank contacts instead!!!
I use no messenger and whatnot - anyone has found a solution?
For me it was a problem of duplicate appointments and contacts.
I no longer synch using the wmdc now. Instead I just use the Microsoft My Phone service.
Notwithstanding, it would be great if microsoft could sort out the messy wmdc...
Yes, but the problem is that I deleted all my appointments and I've no duplicate contacts,a nd the problem persists... so it can't be that.
Also, no use for me using MyPhone as I don't use AS purely for backing up my device but also to sync it (surprise!) with my job calendar etc...
Duplicates...
I've had all these issues and my only work-a-round has been to make a backup .pst copy of my contacts/calendar at work (XPSP2-Outllook 2003), making sure that when sync is done, I delate the lot, and re-import them from the backup. This seems to solve the problem. Also recurring appointments can sometimes stuff up as they are interprited as 18hrs and not just 12hrs, which in turn can cause conflicts.
From what I can see it is an active sync issue that I have not come accross with Vista/7 & Outlook 2007+. With the different ways that these applications handle appointments/calanders I'm not surprised as to the corruption/dupplication of the data.
Another alternative option is to use PIM Banckup/SPB or other, let AS do it's thing, then over-right the phone with the backup copy, and let it re-sync the corrections.
I've triedto find something on MS helpdesk and leaderboards, but so far no success.
Hi everybody.
Did anybody get a solution (definitive, easy, fast) for this issue?
My sync was running nice and without problems for a long time. The same smartphone syncing with a couple notebooks... but I also starting get this same problem some weeks ago.
I've been hardly looking for how to fix it but I didn't find a solution so far.
Tks2all.
Over 3000 empty contacts in Outlook 2007 under Win 7
I have a similar problem, and haven't yet found any specific solutiion. I add contacts and calendar items to both my home installation (Outlook 2003 under WinXP x64) and my work installation (Outlook 2007 under Windows 7). I was able originally to sync my Samsung OmniaPro B7330 successfully with both systems (using ActiveSync 4.5 and Windows 7 Sync Center, respectively). The problems started when I tried to resync with my work system after adding a couple of thousand contacts to the Samsung which were on my home system. When I tried to resync there were no error messages, but I had to interrupt and resume once, because it took so long. Now I have over 3000 empty contacts on the work (Windows 7) system. The contacts still look correct on the Samsung and on the home (XP) system.
How can I get these contacts correctly on the work system?
Iam afraid to delete the empty ones for fear that the next sync will wipe the corresponding contacts with information from the smartphone.
The calendar entries seem to be working OK.
Any ideas or pointers to other possible sources of info on this problem?
P.S. If I observe the Outlook 2007 Contacts page while the contacts are synchronizing, it looks like there are 2 phases:
During the first phase, I can see the desired contacts being added to Outlook, one by one.
At the end of that phase, they somehow all disappear.
Windows Sync Center eventually says that the sync was "completed", without showing any error messages. Is there some way to get Winows Mobile Device Center to produce a logfile, so I can get a better idea of what is going on?
P.P.S. The last sync seems to have finally gotten the new contacts to appear in Outlook 2007. However, I still have over 3000 empty contacts. Can I safely delete them?
P.P.P.S. I went ahead and deleted them. I now have somewhat less than 3,000 contacts, with information that looks reasonable. Looking at my "Deleted Items" folder in Outlook, I see a bit over 12,000 contacts?!
Why this? In addition to the 3,000+ empty contacts I just deleted, there are 3 copies of each contact with information! The Outlook "Sync issues" folder conatins a string of messages distributed over the last week, about half of which mention "Conflict Resolution". I am now concerned that Outlook or WMDC may have done violence to some of the data in my contacts in the attempt tpo "auto-resolve" conflicts.
I have this problem if I sync via ActiveSync at work and Device Center at home.
I've learned the hard way that those two just don't play nice together. I keep praying that one day they'll kiss and make up...
Debbie
I also have this problem syncing my HD2 with 2 PCs, one with Outlook 2007 and the other Outlook 2010.
All ran fine for a while syncing from my Work PC to HD2, and from HD2 to my Home PC. Out of the blue it failed to sync properly with my Work PC and 2,000 half-hour blank appointments were created at the current time and day. To make matters worse, most birthdays disappeared in 2011 and lots of entries were duplicated.
I spent a whole morning deleting the 2,000 blank entries and hundreds of duplicate appointments. Listing the annual events I found most were set to repeat every 12 years which explained why birthdays had disappeared! I've corrected this and things seem fine now with my Work PC, but I'm wary about syncing with my Home PC in case all goes wrong again!
Any solutions?
My friend has same problem with his HD2 (Win7, Outlook 2007, 2010).
With sync the Outlook make half hours appointments in the current day. Interesting: when I disconnect the phone, the empty appointments are dont cancelling.
Same problem here (around 150 of half-hour appointments in one day).
I am using HTC Diamond since 2008, the problem started in July 2011 when syncing with work computer.
I have no idea how to fix it.
I can only offer some information on what's going on.
When syncing, the first thing that happens is empty appointments are all created on today. These are then populated, setting the date, time, subject etc. So it sounds like your sync only gets up to creating the empty appointments and doesn't finish setting the information.
Sorry I can't be more help - unless the process is not allowing to be completed.
Hey all ! Questions for the lucky ones with Evos already in hand out there.
It's unfortunately mission critical to me to be able to sync my phone with my MS Outlook contacts / calendar / notes (appointments, reminders, etc) and so on. Not running an exchange server... Just need to be able to sync my Outlook personal data every night. It's a work thing, you see...
Anyone out there in the same situation and with experience to share ? How well and reliably does the HTC Sync software work, in general, and more specifically with the Evo ?
Thanks !

Well the website for HTC Synch doesn't even show it supports the EVO yet and it also shows it only supports Outlook 2000.

It doesn't only support 2000, it only says the latest version (2.0.33) supports 2000 - it previously wasn't the case.
Also, given that v2.0.33 supports the Incredible and the fact that I've read a couple times that HTC Sync actually comes with the EVO (on the SD card - EVO owners, what say you?), I don't think it's a stretch to assume it probably works with the device... All I want to know is how well HTC Sync works and how reliable & seamless the sync is; if EVO users have experience with it, then it's ideal and I'd love to hear !

I would also like to know this...
I use outlook 2007 and use it for my calendars, tasks, and contacts....
will this work for me? Thanks
I have the same issue and don't like the HTC sync tool. messes with other things. I sync the contact manually with Google contacts once a month. i do this with a CSV file. I then loaded Googles calendar sync app which syncs my Work outlook calendar to my Google Calendar.
I created a second Google caledar which i use as my person calendar to keep them seperate.
Not pretty but works and is not phone or brand dependant
Google Calendar has a tool on its website ( dub-dub-dub-dot google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=89955 ) to sync with Outlook automatically. I know it does Calendar, but I'm not sure about Contacts. I'm pretty sure I've seen something for Calendar contacts.
The phone will automatically sync with your Google Calendar and Contacts.

That's great guys but I'm not looking for workarounds through Google Calendar - I don't use Calendar, or Gmail. Putting my data in the cloud would breach confidentiality agreements with clients, unfortunately. So I need to know how well the straight-up PC to phone sync works... Until now I've been with WinMo (on HTC, of course) since it just works so seamlessly (well, the synching part), but I'm way overdue for a jump to Android...

I am also making the switch from WinMo to Android, here is what I did to "sync" my contacts. I am not sure what I am going to do in the future, but mine don't change much anymore (4 years of working with outlook contacts, they are pretty up to date).
Sync'd phone with Outlook Contacts
Used PIM Backup to backup Contacts
Established OTA sync with Google (selected contacts only). This will remove contacts from phone.
Restored Contacts using PIM Backup
They then Sync'd with Google Contacts.
You might want to delete all your contacts on Google first or make sure you setup what has priority for the sync in the direction you want. Only takes about 10 minutes and ALL info is then sync'd properly.
HTC Sync 2.0.33 works fine with EVO. It can sync Outlook Contacts and Calendar items. Despite the fact HTC sync application says you can only sync Outlook 2000/2003/2007 I'm using Outlook 2010 and it works fine. Automatic/manual sync options are configurable. It's more stable than microsoft's active stink...err sync, or windows mobile device center.
on the SD card
HTC Sync 2.0.31 is included on the EVO sd card - works fine for me with contacts and calendar on Outlook 2007 - a little slower than active sync but it works and I'm happy with it.
I'm running XP
Mule
There is a new version made for the EVO on HTC website. It is version HTCSync2.0.35.
Here is the link:

Thanks everybody ! Awesome to hear that it works well, especially on 2010 - that was one of my worries, since it's also what I'm running. Sweet !
outlook 2010 beta does not synch- even w 2.0.35
running win7 64bit & office 2010 beta, outlook 2010 does not show up in HTC Synch as a application w contacts or calandar available to sysnch (will only show the built-in windows contacts app as compatible.
Someone in this forum said it works, but does not say how, also, perhaps they are using the non-beta newly released profession version only available to corp accounts right now????? (consumers can't get RTM until June 14th).
Do I wait til June 14th and hope the RTM works, or does anyone have a work-arround?
Solutions for Outlook Sync
check out the following two solutions. they are both pay to play but will allow a 14 day demo period. Companionlink is a pretty decent google sync that uses google gmail for a conduit. I was skeptical but it does a great job. Seamless with the exception of Outlook notes. It even updates all contact notes etc. Calendar and task sync through google calendar. So far works pretty good. The second program was just was released this a.m. it is from dataviz, and is called roadsync 2.0. It uses exisiting htc contact, mail interface, but uses stand alone, tasks, calendar interface. This seems pretty decent as well just not as used to going to a second program for calendar. It is about a third of the price of the companionlink alternative.
using htc sync off the memory card... syncs great with calendar and contacts of outlook 2003. Wish wish wish it had notes... but with capacitive - is there even a decent notepad app?
People hate on me all the time for this - but sometimes I miss winmo (omnia or x51V)... was a little more mature and business oriented and tied in to outlook/office:
+synced great with outlook (contacts, calendar, email, NOTES - even with audio)
+whole operating screen would to go HDTV/Projector/monitor/tv through VGA or composite
+WMV/MPG/DIVX/XVID... all seemed to just work (TCPMP love!)
+Text to speech didn't sound like Hal while boards being slowly removed...
+Speech recognition - Voice Commander was TITS!!! LOVED IT. Handsfree!
+any bluetooth Keyboard, some mice - my laser keyboard all worked great!!! HID or SPP
+windows/startup let me easily kill off any task I didn't feel was necessary...
there was no amazon MP3 or other **** that felt it NEEDED to be ready to run at any moment if I didn't want it.
+ROOT out of the box!? Sometimes I think - would people really buy a computer if it only came with user and not admin permissions? and they couldn't delete bloatware and stuff?
+SDIO/CFIO? expansion possibilities - REALLY? an SD or even mini is too big?
+CF 32GB + SDHC 32GB = 64?!?
+IR (how fun is that at sports bars and magnolia/best buy, CES?)
+Fully functioning Office - word/excel/pp ... out of the box!
+RD/TSC
+WM mediaplayer(which had it's faults) DRM ecosystem... worked... so you could do rhapsody/amazon vod and stuff...
...
OK - sorry - I've vented. I'm done. X51V love forever! 6.5.3 was sweet! Screw you Dell and MS for killing a great system.

I'm in a similar situation...
Running Win7 x64, Outlook 2010 x86
HTC Sync v 2.0.40 syncs my Outlook contacts with no problem, however I keep getting errors attempting to sync the calendar...
Unfortunately HTC Sync doesn't give me any real error message. I did a quick pass and could not locate any error logs either.
Any help? Was hoping this would be as seemless as ActiveSync/WMDC and I could avoid 2 to 3-step syncing.
