Hi,
I hope I'll have some time during the holidays to update ER2003Edit. Planned features/changes are:
 Support for Blue Angel and Magician (different header, different ROM image location
 Do not depend on ROM type selection in Open dialog
 Auto-Generate the config file for the extended ROM
 Automatically detect the type of the connected device and set the appropriate header options in order to prevent the country ID error
 Asscociate .nbf files with ER2003Edit in order to open them in ER2003Edit directly from Explorer
 Fix the "ActiveX component can't create object" error under WindowsXP
Please post if you have more suggestions. The focus here lies on helpful features that are _easy_ to implement (i.e. in a short amount of time).
I need some help with the following issues, can anybody help?
:?: Accessing the OS ROM. What kind of file system is this, any way to access it
:?: Automatic Password detection: Does anyone have some code to accomplish this, would save me some time..
Best,
This would be great.
does this include changing the "new country id" as stated in step 9 of DCS's post ?
dcs said:
Run the hex editor and in that open the file ms_.nba. At offset 74 (0x4A) you will see the operator string your device will be set to and at offset 94 (0x5E) you will see the language string your device will be set to

I think this "new country id" is a nice discovery by dcs, but there are only rare cases when you really need it. (like the incorrectly authored ROM, dcs had to deal with)
Normally when you want to update your device to a "foreign" ROM, you use ER2003Edit or xda2nbftool to change the headers. Once installed your device's id will be (in nearly all cases) set to the id of the ROM you install. Thus you will be able to do subsequent upgrades of the same brand and language.
Changing the "new country id" would only make sense if you already know during installation what your next update will be and you know that you are unable or unwiling to use ER2003Edit then (and only when changing brand and country).
Technically it wouldn't be hard to implement but could bring trouble if the location/offset would change. Though I think very few people will really need it, I will consider this for inclusion into ER2003Edit.
...any other suggestions...?
Those features will still be there ?
-Extract and modify the splash bitmaps
-Completely modify the contents (=extract, delete, import, rename) via Drag'n'Drop
Would it be also possible to make rom backup ? and Restore ?
Anyway thank you for trying to make your soft BlueAngel friendly ! I was waiting for this since I get my 9090 !!!
Best regards and Merry XMas !
Softworkz
Hope everything is going well with the alterations to the ER2003Edit.......
How is it coming along - anything we can help with over in the BlueAngel Forums?
Hi all xda-devs
Does anyone have the latest TyphoonNbfTool ? I got one but I think it is the old one and it does not seem to be working properly.
I loaded a custom cooked WM6 ROM and then I edit the header data to change the Operator version. Then I recalculated the header CRC32. After that, when I save the file, the file size appears to be only 1kb instead of 30-40 over MB, any solution?
Thanks
Look at xda ftp,in uploads\upload for a file called typhoo5.exe or typhoonnbfdecode.exe or install as perl 5.8 and nbfutils from itsme and use typhoonnbfdecode.pl. look at spv-developers.com, there are lots of info how to use it
have the same problm
Sorry for my bad English the translation FR-> EN made by an on-line translator
Hello,
The objective of this post is to allow each to modify its Rom in particular to correct the small youth defects of this quite new PPC under WM6.

From these characteristics we notice resemblances at the level of the processor and the reports with Kaiser.
1/Dump of Rom following the tuto of KS20_en_colère.
One thank you to him and in forums of http: // www.forummobiles.com
We have now four files
Part00 = 1.12M
Part01 = 5.00M
part02 = 65.38M
part03 = 150.13M
2/Reconstruction of Rom
Basic hypothesis - > the KS20 is close enough to Kaiser to apply him(her) the same step(initiative).
Thanks to BEDAV for excellent sound tuto on the www.win-mobile.com site http: // qtek9100.forumpro.fr/htc-p4550-tytn-ii-kaiser-f41/kaiser-reconstruction-d-une-rom-t8849.htm
We obtain reconstituted Rom named RUU_signed.nbh = 79 451 Kb
3/Construction of new Rom
Again thanks to BEDAV and www.win-mobile.com
http://qtek9100.forumpro.fr/htc-p4550-tytn-ii-kaiser-f41/kaiser-tuto-rom-custom-t9322.htm
Finally we have 4 files:
- Temp (contains the temporary files for your works)
- SYS (contains the logs of the builder(manufacturer))
- OEM (contains the logs of the operators phone)
- ROM (contains the BASIC BONE)
Check has this step of progress I can say that we find a multitude of thing, progs, the keys of the base of register, icones, DLL...
4/Questions
How to verify the integrity of Rom extracted to confirm or not my hypothesis?
How to relieve this Rom to obtain a base work (transfer the menu Lg and the other one superfluous!) the Seine and without bug (or almost).
How CID unlock the KS20? The dump can he help us?
Thanks to all for your precious help.
oh ... its on xda ftp ^_^ thx ... i will try to extract the videodriver and put on the HTC Niki!
Hello,
If you want I can put the directory OEM or SYS (or Dump) on the XDA FTP.

Hello Everyone!
I had problems with my Ipaq. It has an italian ROM. So I´d like to flash it with an german ROM. On the HP-Homepage i found an italian and a german ROM. But of course it isn´t possible to use the german version. Couldn't anyone cook or dump a GERMAN ROM for the Ipaq 114? I think here are a lot of Germans who would really really appreciate that.
Many thanks!!!
Thomas Further Informations: Isn´t it possible to overwrite the italian nbf-file with the german one???
Got new informations!!!
Instruction to flash:
1.) You need the german and the italian Rom-update. Both have to unpack on your hard disk!
2.) You connect PDA with the PC, but not with the ac-power.
3.) Start the italian Softpaq. Meanwhile the Update the programm will recognize, that the update does only work with ac-plugged
in.
4.) No you rename the Romfile from the german Update with the name from the italian one and copy it to the folder with the
italian Update
5.) NOW plug in the AC-Power Cable
On this way you bypass the country check - this will be done before the checking of the ac-power.
No ideas???
It must be possible... Here are so many "professionals"!!!
By the way: This is a great forum here. Interesting discussions...
Has anyone experience...
...with the instruction from above???
Thanks for supporting
First, I have to say Hello!, this is my first post in this forum. I own an ipaq 110 classic series with WWE(world wide english).
I'have tried many ways to perform a language change, none of them appears to work, at least in this model. The method described above don't work on ipaqs 110 series, because this model only have a mini-usb port in the bottom end; which supplies data connection and power. Then... How I can "connect the AC power" to the device?. O maybe I'm omitting something.
Sorry about my english, I'm from Spain.
First of all you have to forbid your pda the charging via usb.
Use these settings to do this.
When the software ask, reactivate the settings...
Try it...
Greetings!
Bye the way. My english isn´t better. I´m from germany
EDIT !!!!!
SORRY!
It doesn´t work to deactivate the charging funktion. The problem is, that the pda use just one cable for the datas and for charging.
When you start the rom-update the setup programm automaticly start the charging option. The update starts immediatly...
No chance for overwrite the original language rom-file with the one from - in my case - the german one...
Need help! Please!!! It´s very important for me to have a german system (especially for my software).
additional information: i have a spanish model and i need urgently a german one...!!!!
HELP NEEDED!!!
Finally... I'have found a way to change language on ipaq 110 series (I think I have seen this method somewhere else)...
First you need:
1. ROM update for your device's language (in this case spanish)
2. ROM update what you want to change (germany or other)
both can be downloaded from HP's web page.
You must unpack each ROM in a directory with winrar, by separate, for example in the desktop.
Run the RUU utility of your device's language, the program will make some checkups and tells, it is correct the ROM and the language. Proceed with the update.
THESE ARE THE IMPORTANT STEPS:
1. The progress bar in the PC screen will not move forward, and in the device the screen will show "RUU downloading mode" in a white background (I suppose this is the famous "bootloader mode"). In this moment you have to paste the "HPImage.nbf" from germany ROM (I suggest before you copy the file and let ready for the paste) to the directory with your device original ROM language, you have aprox 5 sec to do so; the update will continue with no warnings. The device's screen will show "downloading mode" and the progress bar in the setup in the PC will reach the end.
2. The device will perform a "CLEAN BOOT" in green letters and... your device is speaking germany (or other language).
I'm not sure how safe the procedure is.
I suggest you run the ROM update of your original device language before doing the change, to check the screens, the timing, etc.
Hope it works in your device. Mine now is speaking spanish.
Regards.

Netherlands ROM
Hi, a have a problem, i got Ipaq 114 witch Netherlands ROM (NLD, Dutch) and i would like English, German or French (it does not matter), but to flash i need Netherlands rom to, but on official HP site it isn't (just only English, German or French). Can anybody help me pls, give me some link to Netherlands rom? thx
I have the actually german based ROM (April 2008) and wondering about this symptom:
Always when I connected my "blank" IPAQ 114 to active sync (sync with local Outlook) "and make" a new partnership - the Time on my PDA is "-9 hours" from our local time.
I test this with other IPAQ 114, with other Windows XP, and other AS 4.5 - always the same problem. If I use an other PDA (HTC Touch HD, Pro, S740) all work fine and the time on this devices are correct...
Any Idea what is the timesync Problem with ipaq 114 and active Sync?
the Language settings, time zones are correct on the IPAQ114.
I found a solution for an old IPAQ 6315 :But is that the really solution?
I found out that this is a know problem by HP. There is no current fix, but they did provide me with a work around. The work around is a 2 step process and both must be done before performing an ActiveSync. If not, the problem will become worse by advancing all the appointments in the host's calander. First, in the date and time properities on the PC, UNCHECk the automatically adjuct clock for daylights saving time box. Second, if the IPAQ is located in Eastern Standard Time, set the IPAQ's time zone to Indiana (IN) as they do not observe DST. If in MST set the time zone to AZ. If in CST set the time zone to Saskatchewan, Canada.

Does anyone here have any idea if is possible to update an iPAQ 116 (that is pretty much the same as the 110 and 114) from WM6.0 to WM6.5?
I have one here but I don't even have it's instalation CD. For some reason I can't connect it by USB, just by Bluetooth.
Any help?
Hello. This is my first post here so please take me easy
I've just dumped 6 raw images from an Asus P552w:
2 of them have in the header some "ECEC" string and I guess those are some ROM images from that phone (just like other ROMs I've seen)
1 of them has some "XPR Rf" string in header and I guess is related with Radio ROM (I've saw inside other strings like: GSM, BLuetooth...)
2xFAT16 raw images with files. I can mount Fat16 images (using DaemonTools or from Linux) to see what is inside and I saw is the main FS of the phone and another one has only a few configuration files.
My problem is with the last image EXTROM (it has 16MB and is full with phone operator string "Orange" and operator settings):
1xFAT32 raw image which I cannot mount. This image has the FAT32 structure:
- MBR (end with 0x55 0xAA)
- File System Information Sector (begin with: 0x52 0x52 0x61 0x41 and end with: 0x55 0xAA)
and then after ~3000 bytes is the MBR (ended with 0x55 0xAA) again then only 0x00 and after ~6000 bytes is the MBR one more time , then some 0x0 bytes and then I think there are some files.
Here you have a diagram how it looks:
---MBR
---FileSystemInformationSector
---0x00... 0x00 (~3000 bytes)
---MBR (identical with the 1st one)
---0x00... 0x00 (~6000 bytes)
---MBR (identical with the 1st one)
---0x00... 0x00 (~37000 bytes)
---RAW FILES (I saw a lot of strings there)
Can someone explain to me what is with that ExtROM ? I've searched on this site and I didn't find some tools to dump files inside that image.
I've tried to mount this images with DaemonTools and under linux with no luck. (I've even tryed to do some edit inside that image)
Question
Hi.
This is my first post here too. If I don't bother you too much can you send me on private message how you did the backup for the p552 phone? I have one too locked to orange. I have also got from another forum a P552w rom image that the user I got it from Asus site. The update is no longer available from Asus and this is very strange. I didn't want to put that image on the phone yet because I want to do a backup first (ROM backup).
Check this tutorial: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_HowtoDumpRom
I have tried following the tutorial but I was able only to dump the data from the extended ROM. When I was trying to save the other partitions I first checked for their length with -t parameter and I always got an error. It only worked for the EXT Rom (partition DSK4 and for the SD card.
By the way, you have dumped the rom from the ASUS P552W (the one that it is NOT sold by Orange) and has the wifi or you have dumped the ROM of P552 (that do not have the wi-fi ... or it is disabled by Orange)? Can you share your rom? If you want I can upload the Ext ROM from my device. I have a Asus P552 (from Orange Romania). It does not have wifi ... or it is disabled.
I have been able to make the firmware from Asus run on my phone ... but I don't want to use it until I can backup my ROM ... and find a way to put the original ROM back if I break something during upgrade.
I gave you a PM with my contact detalis. Talk there

EXTROM is very easy to reach. The hidden partition name is ASUS_ROM. You type in TotalCommander the path \ASUS_ROM and there it is. It can be copied, deleted, writhed!!!
The GM2WiFiDriver.CAB is an updated driver (sdio.dll) for wifi, but the file is existing also in P552 Orange but is disabled by provider. I haven't find a way to enable it, yet.
i wasn't aware of that, thanks.
btw, even if you install the update for the wifi drv, it won't enable it 'cause if think the device is disabled from bootloader.
Can someone upload the p552w to mediafire filehost.
