Is there a working BT FTP Explorer for Touch HD / Blackstone ? - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Hello,
I have really a strange issue. I am unable to "beam" the images from Touch HD to Bluetooth enabled PC using Bluetooth. I tested against two PCs and it never worked. The activesync works ok. But i don't want to use activesync... as it's a bit of overkill - i am looking for a out of a box solution that will possibly work with every pc everywhere... last time i ended up with mailing the images by email =))
Both sides have bluetooth enabled in visible mode, i am using either resco or wm file explorer beam function, then the list of visible bluetooth devices appears, but when i select the PC it always fails. =((
I remember there was some issue of "too much services pc provided", but i am unable to remove services provided by the pc i have no use for as FAX for example. On both PCs there's bluetooth stack by Widcomm, once branded for IBM and once for HP.

I have a PC with integrated bluetooth module and a Microsoft driver. If I right click on the Bluetooth icon in the system tray (lower right near clock), I can select "receive a file" which brings up a little wizard that waits for you to beam your picture. Maybe your Bluetooth device also has this software. I use ActiveSync for several pictures because in the long run it's quicker.

PGMMA, yes, but this is about widcomm driver... not ms... =(
Activesync is OK, but won't work on a PC without Activesync - i had an issue, when i want to send a image/file to a friend. No luck. The Bluetooth Stack Tray icon gets green for a sec, then white again with no message what so ever.
The other computer now requires pairing all the time, but i am sure i can handle that later. =)

Well i tested dryar 1.6 (i was unable to find the version 2.0 which should be on dryar.com) without a luck, but was able to make at least part of the bluetooth ftp explorer working (HTC_BT_FTP_Explorer_1.2.30489.cab)
i can share my files on cell phone, but i am unable to browse others after installing this file (couldn't enable the explorer in the ftp tab), when i click the icon in programs nothing happens.
anyone has a bt explorer fully compatible with blackstone / touch hd?

tried all versions from here, but simply \windows\btftpclient.exe won't start =(

identically problem

There is NO working BT Explorer client for the Touch HD. I called HTC 2 weeks ago about this issue. They said that it's not supported with the current ROM, but they did say that they are building a new ROM to be released shortly & it WILL have BT Explorer support.

How to send file via Bluetooth with Blue Angel?

Hi,
Like the subject says really. Can anyone please tell me how to send a file via Bluetooth (not a contact, just a normal type of file i.e. image or whatever). My Bluetooth File Transfer Service is enabled.
I've searched the forums, but can't find anything so I'm sure it's just me and I must be missing something blindly obvious?
Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
Whoops that was from me if anyone wants to know who's being stupid :-(
File Explorer -> Click and Hold on file you want to send -> Select "Beam File" and then wait for the list of Bluetooth Devices to appear below the Infrared Section.
Alternatively use Resco File Explorer which has a specific Beam via Bluetooth option and (to me) seems quicker and more reliable (At least to startup).
Erm nope?
"Beam" via File Explorer makes no effort to open a Bluetooth connection (I've got a wireless video sender next to me and everything anything tries to do ANYTHING with Bluetooth it interferes like crazy with the picture)
Also tried Resco and that only has a "Send via Infrared" option. I see no Bluetooth option :-(
This is with an O2 XDA IIs running their software :-( (Although no O2 customisations)
I have GOT to sort my cookies out. Yes above was me again... I think that's 3 posts today I've done as a guest. DOH :-(
Then I'm at a loss as I can do it with both!
I am using Resco v5.12 and the menu item is under Send To > Bluetooth Recipient... if that is of any help.
That's freaky. I see you're not using the standard O2 rom's though. Perhaps something to do with that. I just backed up, did a hard reset and tried again, but still no joy :-(
Is "cooking" my ROM hard/bad? I've seen all the files/documentation on WIKI etc, but mostly just worried about WHICH I should install on it :-(
--Neil
Could be, can't remember now, had so many variants of CE Rom and Ext ROM I have lost track!
We have spent a long time putting together a "Wiki" for the Blue Angel for upgrades etc and I have had no problems yet (I would say it has improved the responsiveness of my device and I no longer have any real issues with Bluetooth, audio or WiFi).
Have a play, you can always go back.
To send a file via bluetooth on Blueangel, first you have to turn on your BT
then open the Bt manager > press on new > choose "Browse files on a remote device > select "All devices"> The BT scan for the online Bt devices> Select lets say "Nokia 7650"> press next >now discovering the device>pair it>a window will appear showing you the files> select the file you want, et voila...
I also had the problem of not having any option to send files via bluetooth when using the inbuilt file explorer. Consequently, I installed the trial version of Resco Explorer. After using it for a day, I uninstalled it. Imagine my surprise that when I now open my inbuilt File Explorer, I get the option for Send via Bluetooth. I don't know if it's related to Resco or not, but it's worth a try? Just install the Resco Trial Version to ur PDA2K and then uninstall it.
The answer is in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=17976&highlight=

XDA2s Will not beam files by bluetooth!!!

I have had an XDA2 for sometime. I have just purchased a XDA2s but can not get it to beam a file, like on the xda2. I go to file explorer, hold down on the file I want to send and hit beam file. The page says searching but does not ever find any devices!!
I have upgraded the Radio ROM upgrade to version 1.12.00 and the Bluetooth upgrade to version 1.0.0.3900, but I still have the same problem. Is anyone else with an XDA2s able to beam files like with the xda2, or have any ideas why it is not working?
Thanks
hey same here too
hi
i too have the same problem and i dont even know on which windows m i Running my PDA ??
Can some one help me how to find which windows have been installed on my XDA IIs
if you have installed the 3900bluetooth stack, then you must forget about the beam option, when u tap and hold within file explorer, tap send by bluetooth instead of beam file, this will work as i had same problem, and i was told this by members here.
hope this helps.......
my way of beaming files via bluetooth is to open the bluetooth manager and select "new" then click on "browse files on a remote device". After that, bluetooth devices will be discovered by your BA. Once the devices are already listed, you could select to which device you want files to send to...
hope this helps...
cheers!
Guys, you're talking about two different things here. When you choose 'beam file' that means trying to send it to another device using the infrared port, not Bluetooth.
It says it can't find other devices because on your receiving device you've probably turned Bluetooth on, but not IR. And even if you had, you're supposed to align the IR ports and keep the two devices pretty close to each other. On your BlueAngel, the IR port is on the left side so you have to turn it.
You should either choose 'send via Bluetooth' if you want to send something via Bluetooth, or choose 'beam file' if you want to beam it via IR. Check if your receiving device has Bluetooth or IR capabilities and has these switched on; if you're using IR, point the device's IR ports to each other.
Your Windows version:
Start -> Settings -> System -> About.
Thanks
Thanks all of you
I just Cant belive that i couls see a reply posted so so soon
A million Thanks

bluetooth not in my menu
Hey jojo
i have not got send via bluetooth on my menu in the FE
also i dont know the bluetooth stack ???
how do i get that now
no bluetooth sending on SPV M2000/XDAiis...
Robrecht: they are not talking about two different things, to beam a file it "should" pick up all incoming beams including bluetooth, if you try beam a file a menu will come saying two things:
1) infrared - align ports
2) searching...
Now the "searching" means its looking for bluetooth devices, provided you have activated "recieve all incoming beams" in beam settings...
Unfortunately although i know how it all works, i also have the same problem with my SPV M2000, i also cant send via bluetooth,i had the XDAii and that worked totally fine, the only way to do it on the M2000 is through exploring another bluetooth device, but not all devices allow for that...its such an easy operation that has become so difficult, i mean if thats how they have programmed it, it sucks ass, even old crappy phones with bluetooth can send files easier...
i think it is a problem and if there is any solution can someone let us know...
regards...

you dont need to unzip a cab file, a cab file is the same as a .exe file on your desktop pc,
just copy the cab file accress to a location on your pda, somewhere you know where it is.... lets say you copy over using active sync, into your documents..... when you go into file explorer on your pda, just tap the cab file and it will install ........ and hey presto..... your on bt build 3900
tradivise, upgrading to 3900, should sort your problem out.... sending files from devices to another handset by Ir is something that needs avioding, as i find that even if the pda can detect the device, it aint compatable and will always fail..... i even found this on my old XDA 2
instead on tapping on beam file on 3500 like with the xda2, upgrade to 3900 and you dont need the beam option.... just hold on file and tap send via bluetooth., anything is now sendable but if you want this to help with Ir within the beam option, this wont help as it is for bluetooth.....
happy installing if you choose to....... id recommend it tho!!
it does solve the problem!
joey jojo... thanks, yeh i installed it and it solves the problem, i now have the "send via bluetooth" option in the menu when holding down on a file i want to send, you can almost send anything....there is one thing thats seems a bit odd!!! - when using my bluetooth headset it sometimes crackles a bit even though im within a metre or two of the phone, i dunno, that doesnt seem normal...but i guess for the amount of times i use my headset compared to the amount of times i "wanted" to send files via bluetooth, i suppose i can live with the crackling...
thanks JJ
So i also recomend to anyone having the same problems as me upgrading to bt3900, i mean im not sure about the crackling, i read on another post somewhere that there are a few others with the same crackling problem, but as far as sending the via bluetooth, it solves the problem...
this is good news!
joey jojo, could I ask for one too?
cheers!
bt3900...
you can get bt3900 from this site - http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Bluetooth_1.0.0.3900_Upgrade
It gives you instructions and everything else...
happy installing...
thanks tradivise! one question though, would it be just fine if I wouldn't upgrade may radio rom and just install the bluetooth upgrade, would just do the trick the same?
cheers!
yeh it all workd fine for me and i didnt upgrade my radio...im running radio 1.06.02...
guys, thanks! just installed BT3900 and my BT works better now.
Hey man, thats cool, im glad you got it sorted out...
HAPPY BLUETOOTHING!!!!!!!!

Lovely phone....but activsync 4.2 bites!!!

Hi chaps,
Excuse what might seem like a stupid question from a newbie...but....got my new Orbit a couple of days ago....and straight away, the problems came in thick and fast!!
Has anyone successfully set one of these things up to Activesync via bluetooth??? Mine is stubbornly refusing to do so...
Also...my FM radio plays nothing but Simon and Garfunkel, since all I get is "The sound of Silence" Nothing....zip...zero is being played
It spat on my TomTom's auto install, until I handraulically installed the cabs, must say, this sat nav is head and shoulders above the same software on my old XDA II, using a wired GPS Antenna...nice
Anybody any ideas (I spent 2hrs on the phone with O2 about the bluetooth this week, and they just put their hands up in the air!!)
Nice site btw
Neil
Why not trying this here:
http://www.dpicts.com/axim/
Bluetooth Activesync works ok using the Microsoft XP SP2 stack instead of Widcomm or Toshiba:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=288761
I tried and failed with Widcomm, but got it working 1st time once I used the MS stack.
Had the same problem with Tomtom. For me it was because my version of tt (5) was for an older version of WM. Installer didn't work, but manually dragged cabs were fine. I suspect tt6 installs fine.
F.
Mine is WIDCOMM, how to I get it to run the MS stack?
works fine with Toshiba, and the older versions of widcomm.
Toshiba stack always has an incoming port on com 7
set this and it will work fine (make sure you have the latest version of the stack from http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/pages/download.php)
Not tried with the latest versions cos my MIS key runs bluesoleil :-(
Try this
open my bluetooth places.
click bluetooth at the top of the windows (next to file, edit etc.)
click advanced configuration
click local services
note the port associated with the bluetooth serial port service.
open activesync on the pc
click file
click connection settings
set the com port here. (it must be lower than 20 for activesync 4.x)
click ok
open activesync on the device
tap menu
tap connect via bluetooth
tap yes when it asks about creating a pairing.
tap new device (if your device is already there, delete it. not totally necessary, but cleaner)
select your device and tap next
enter passkey
tap next
once it scans for services on the computer, it should find activesync.
tick it and tap finish
in activesync, tap menu
tap connect via bluetooth
should be gravy!

No Bluetooth File Receive after PhoneAlarm

After installing PhoneAlarm 2.13 I cannot send files via my windows XP computer to my HTC HD.
I can send files from the HD to the PC but not the other way round. In fact I can activesync using bluetooth and then use the activesync window on my PC to cut and paste files from the PC to the HTC but not by right clicking the file and then using the "send to" command.
I am positive that the problem is due to PhoneAlarm because when I uninstall it and hard reset my device everything seem starts working normally but again fails after PhoneAlarm installation.
Anyone else experiencing this problem and please help.
Regards
I had the same problem, could send files from my HD, but not to my HD.
Never installed PhoneAlarm though.
What I did to fix it:
- In Advanced Config, go to "Bluetooth". "Obex" was disabled. I enabled it, saved settings and did a soft-reset.
- In HD Tweak, also go to "Bluetooth". "Files reception" was disabled. I enabled it, saved settings and did a soft-reset.
Hope it solves your problems!
If I remember correctly you need to activate IRDA in the phonealarm settings to allow the bluetooth to work (I think it even mentions bluetooth next to the IRDA check box - odd but it then worked on mine)

This is correct. You need to activate IR in the profiles in PhoneAlarm you use to receive files over bluetooth.
No need for hard reset
I have had the same problem even after uninstalling phonealarm. No file receiving over bluetooth. Then I have re-installed phonealarm again, enable infrared and uninstall it. Everything works fine now. I think some changes in registry would have solve it too, but this is easier I mean.

To enable file transfer in registry:
HKLM\\Software\Microsoft\OBEX and change the IsEnabled value from 0 to 1
The OBEX_inbox.cab can also be useful if your rom lacks it.

Error on sending files over bluetooth directly with Resco Explorer

If I try to send a file by BT directly in Resco Explorer 2008 v7.5 by selecting Send To > Bluetooth recipient I get an error message "Bluetooth device-activation failed. Switch on Bluetooth manually. Do you want to disable Bluetooth functionality? YES / NO"
(message text could be slighty different as I am using Dutch language)
If I select yes, it defaults back to Explorer view (of course) and Send to > Bluetooth recipient option is now greyed out.
If I select no, it continues to a screen titled "Send file(s) (OBEX)" with a list selection window view titled "Select device:". The window only a line "search" as if it is a link but nothing happens when I touch it and besides it doesn't list any nearby devices, just stays empty. Left soft key says "Send" and right soft key says "Cancel".
I've done some reading here on XDA and on the Resco site and came accross similar problems, where some stated I should uncheck the "Use IrDA trough OBEX" setting in the General options section wherafter I should select Send to > IR recipient instead of BT recipient to send my files.
If I try this it shows a different discovery window with a Bluetooth icon named Search and a progress indicator ( . > .. > ... ) but still no nearby device is found.
Do I have to update the BT stack to get this working? Any other hints or tips? Thanks!
Bad Bluetooth Stack
I have the same problem and have not found a solution as of yet. Not to impressed with the stock Bluetooth. There are some devices I have not been able to connect to which worked flawlessly with the TouchPro. Anyone know of any Bluetooth fixes? I don't like HTC's control of the Bluetooth devices.
I'm having the same problem when trying to exchange file(s) with another phone via bluetooth. Resco Explorer don't recognize TP2's Bluetooth. If any of you can teach me how to transfer for example a cab file via bluetooth to another phone will be great!!! I can't do that in the Send Object function in the Default Bluetooth App.
use the normal file explorer. click and hold on the file. there is an option to send via bluetooth in the context menu.

I know it works with normal Windows explorer but I want to use Resco... have you ever tried to access the Windows folder with Windows Explorer? Then you know what I mean...
Read somewhere Resco deosn't recognize the new blue tooth stack used in TP2. Therefore, u need to use default explore or wait for new version.

That figures... I can't understand why HTC has chosen this BT stack instead of the one supplied with Blackstone for instance...
It is because Rodhium has got 2.1 Blutooth capability wich is not driven by the official Microsoft Blutooth stack (only 2.0). We have to wait for WM 6.5 to have the microsoft stack back, maybe... i hope so...
