PC Suite for HTC Touch HD - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Could someone pls recommend a good software programme for sending texts from a PC via a WM device? (similar to Samsung's PC Studio for example)
Any links to forum or external site would be appreciated.
Thanks

Try My Mobiler, though it wasn't created for that.

Dashwire can do that.
Also Jeyo Mobile companion, but I'm not sure that works in HD.

NOt sure - just installed this - seems to work

Editing Conacts on Desktop

Hello everybody!
anyone knows a good, preferably free tool, which allows to edit the contacts on the pda on a desktop pc? i am not using outlook...
thx,
krz
You could use thunderbird and other free tools to sync your contacts/calendar/mail and in this way edit your contacts on a desktop pc.
Read this: http://www.downloadsquad.com/2007/02/26/how-to-sync-your-pocket-pc-with-thunderbird-mobile-minute/
thx, LGSilva, for your answer. this is not a bad idea, but still not what i am looking for...
maybe there is no such thing, like a standalone contacts editor...?
Found another solution for you: http://www.mymobiler.com/

My Mobiler works better for me as self installs the files.
as far as active sync remote it did work fine for me. but i prefer the My mobiler as is more versitile and doesn't require copying files from the windows mobile power tools to the phone
How to make it work!
To get Activesync Remote Display working on WM6, just drop the attached two files into the /Windows folder on the phone.
The PC program will still whine that it doesn't recognise the OS, but once you click OK, it'll come up perfectly anyway! I just make sure the two files are baked into every ROM I flash because that way I don't have to re-copy them after a hard reset.
Enjoy!
Thank you ! It really works !!!
Thank you, Thank you Very Much.....
is this like remote desktop except for the mobile? can u use the mobile to view full desktop OSes?
yes soti works good for me.

Nope....this is for controlling your Windows Mobile device from your desktop PC; you get a desktop window showing the device screen and you use your PC mouse/keyboard to operate it.
(My personal preference - as someone suggested above - is MyMobiler. That does the same thing as Activesync Remote Display - and then some...you can copy/paste between mobile & desktop, take screen shots of the mobile, etc.. have a look at http://www.mymobiler.com and see what you think).
Remote Desktop - for viewing/controlling PC desktops from Windows Mobile - is available in WM 6 and above, but it's got its limitations. You have to connect using a password for one, the scrolling is horrible....some people swear by it, but it's not for me
Hope that helps,
Mark.

Done!
Yup, I tried the Mymobiler too, it's wonderful, great job.

Sending SMS from PC

Hello all... I did not see this thread around...
I am sure many of you use some software to send sms from the pc through your HTC.
I know HTC can do this through Outlook 2007 using third parties..
Is there a recent software that I can use to send sms through pc..typing them on the keyboard instead of mobile?
Nokia PC Suite does it, A software for Sagem does it as well..
HTC???

Sending Bulk SMS from PC through TP2

Dear all, I'm new to this forum and I'm looking for your qualified help.
I bought a short while ago a HTC TP2 with WM6.1. and I upgraded it to the WM6.5. using the original HTC ROM software. Before the Easter I've been trying to send several greetings sms to my friends, discovering the very limited sms capabilities of the TP2 (compared to my old Nokia N70) :-(((
1. I'm searching for a software application to install on both PC and TP2 to allow me typing SMS on my PC and sending them through the TouchPro2 (something similar to the Nokia PC Suite). Freeware is preferred of course. I've been googling for it, also doing a search on this beautiful forum, but I didn't spot anything reliable where TP2 is specified. Any good recommendation from your personal experience?
2. Actually cand someone point me to something similar to the Nokia PC Suite, does such a complete piece of software exist for Windows Mobile phones?
All the best to you all.

It looks like just using the features available in regular ol' ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center would achieve everything Nokia's PC suite does

Thank you for the quick answer. I am using Win XP, therefore ActiveSync 4.5 is on the table. (I am unpleasantly surprised by the limited and decreasing capabilities of the AS 4.5 compared to much older versions like 3.7, but that's another story.)
Anyway, I am not aware of such a strong feature allowing me to type sms on my computer using the ActiveSync interface, therefore could you please give some details about this? I guess that I need more than that in terms of software and that's why asking on the forum. Thanks.

That's not a part of activesync natively, I was just covering everything I saw listed as a function of the Nokia PC suite...I didn't see that SMS was part of that.
I know there's a number of apps that will allow you to SMS via an ActiveSync'd TP2, the only one I happen to recall off the top of my head is Jeyo Mobile Companion. When I get home this evening I'll see if I can turn up any of the other ones I've run across. Jeyo's product is great, but not free.

I'm not aware of any such software available for TP2, though it seems Samsung has developed a similar ( like Nokia PC Suite) for the Omnia B7610 based on Active Sync, I'm not aware though if it will work on our handset.

Sirphunkee, I was editting the post to give more details about the OS in use and about sms and probably that was the moment of your first answer. No harm done.
Thanks for the hints, I will see what Jeyo Mobile Companion can do. Of course other alternatives are most welcome.
With these limited sms capabilities of TP2 I feel like having 2 left hands :-((( Preparing a new sms one doesn't even get a view of the contacts list to click on the target name, but has to type the name. What about if having 5 or 10 persons to send to? Unbelievable unconfortable and unfriendly.
Sorry, the bitter comments are not addressed to you, but to the software designers which did not put themselves in the user's shoes.
Thanks for your open minded support.

No problem
And we'll gladly add your opinions about how SMS is lacking on winmo to the pile that's already accumulated around here
Group SMS does not text from the pc but it DOES allow for mass sms. Also it is not free. That said, I use it to mass text people and it gets the job done nicely...you simply set up groups, check off the boxes of those you want it sent to, type your text and send.

Yet I am a bit confused as you mentioned that Group SMS does not text from the pc, but, following your link, at the bottom of the page it says Skb Group SMS and Scheduler 5.2 does a PC application. May be there is a new version, if so I'll be most than happy. Also HTC TP2 is not shown in the Compatibility devices list, may be the list is old.

Not really .. I admit that I do miss the ability to send SMS/MMS from my PC thru my old Nokia. PCSuite also allowed you to view/delete your messages on your PC, selecting which you needed to keep and which could be discarded. I honestly expected some kind of PC software to come with my TP2 and was disappointed to learn AS was the answer.

Thank you for the hint. I installed the Samsung New PC Studio v 1.4.0 for Omnia, it looks nice and similar as functions to the Nokia PC Suite, but as expected it does not recognize my TP2 phone as connected (USB). A matter of drivers I would say, but how to solve it? Thanks anyway, I forgot that Samsung put on the market WM phones.

I fully agree with you. All the major phone manufacturers are supporting their phones with a free PC Suite, I am disappointed that HTC didn't cover the WM phones. Active Sync is a very poor solution with very limited features. I know there is a HTC PC Suite for the G1 nad Hero Android phones, but not for the winmo phones.
Btw, I wonder if anybody asked HTC about a PC Suite for the WM phones, with TP2 in particular, and what was the HTC answer?

This is a newer version from what I have, which did not have pc linking...apparently they have changed that, but to what extent I do not know. I run version 5.0 on my TP2 without any issues and it does a fantastic job!! I am pretty sure that if an older version runs good on my TP2, this updated version will work just fine.
Hi again. These days I managed to install and test both the Jeyo Mobile Companion and the Skb Group SMS and Scheduler 5.2. Both are nice and doing what they are supposed to do, but I consider the Jeyo Mobile Companion more user friendly, looking closer to the Nokia PC Suite I am used to and therefore more appropriate to my needs. So I will buy this one. The only drawback is that is doing only sms and not mms, but is good enough for me for the time being.
Thanks everyone for the good advice.
Sending Bulk SMS through TP2
You can enter multiple recipients manually or create a group where you add members and send bulk SMS like that. You can also search (or scroll if you don't want to type) through your contacts to add them to an SMS. You mentioned that you are not able to do this.
Can you tell me what limitations you've discovered in TP2's SMS?
Just curious.
Thanks!
I have been using PowerSMS and My Mobiler to bulk sms from my phone via PC. Although I do have a bit of lag when typing, but that may be the Fuze vs TP2.
Also, Google Voice can do this for you too. I won't get into the setup needed but you can bulk sms from that interface.
I've used Efficasoft mobile Express (free), but since upgrading to latest 6.5 ROM, I'm having a problem with SMS remaining in 'outbox'. I have emailed them and they're working in a fix.
Just thought of an application which could allow me to "bulk-text-message", and after reading here, I am giving PowerSMS a go...
My carrier here in Norway has a program I can install and use from Outlook. It syncs perfectly, of course, and I can just click all the contacts I want to send the SMS to and click send.
Maybe your carrier has something like it?

I enjoy using it. During NFL season I burn through thousands of texts to Fantasy league members, family, etc. I still haven't figured out a way to backup the Lists that I create so I end up having to recreate them after each flash.

Can I use my pocket pc to make simple programs for WM?

Hi everybody! I recently got an HTC Universal from my brother (he has a Tytn 1 and 2) and I use it more often than my pc. Im wondering if I can use it to do simple programs that I cud run on WM. I've searched the XDA forums but I'm still unsure where to start, and if its possible. I have also searched at the Windows Mobile site, but it seems that I'm required to use a pc to make a program. I travel a lot so all I have most of the time is my pocket pc.
If doing an app for WM would really require a pc, is there a way for me to at least minimize it by using my pocket pc?
I'll also appreciate any help on links and downloads for this.
Thanks!
I used to program with my Tytn.
The program was named basic4ppc
Hope it helps!
