Sim unlocking with HardSpl + Old radio version giving me trouble - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

Hello, I've been trying to SIM unlock my new HTC Touch Diamond, but I've been having some issues. MOD EDIT and I've used it on my phone. I've managed to sim unlock my phone with it, therefore I am now able to use my old SIM card. However, since those ROM upgrades it made I've been having a lot of issues with the phone. I found stuff randomly crashing in it (such as manila.exe), my battery is consuming really fast, and even ActiveSync has some trouble sync-ing sometimes.
I've been thinking to restore my phone to its initial state, but I didn't know how to do that. I made a backup with some software the phone came with (Sprite Backup), but I can't restore that backup now. I am assuming that I have this issues because it had some very old versions of radio or such.
Here's what I see when I start my device with volume_down+reset:
Security Unlocked (as a title)
DIAM 100 MFG 64M
SPL-1.40.OliNex
MicroP-Diam (LED) v11
PSOC-Diam STAGE_PVT v0x32
Click to collapse
Also, here's what it shows me on Device information:
ROM version: 1.93.479.3 WWE
ROM date: 07/25/08
Radio version: 1.20.Olinex
Protocol version: ...
Click to collapse
I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do now to make my phone work better. I've been thinking at upgrading the radio by following the steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211. Will that help me? Also, if I update the radio, will my phone still be unlocked? Because the first time I had to run a DiamUnlock.exe in my phone and disable the sim unlock very quickly.
If my phone has a SIM lock again, can I run the same DiamUnlock.exe again to sim unlock it?
Moreover, I've downloaded "[ROM][WWE][23.07.08]Hong Kong Official ROM - 1.93.831.1 52.29.25.12H_1.00.25.05" from your forums, and I would also like to upgrade to it. Will that leave my HardSPL there? Also, will that keep my phone SIM unlocked?
This phone is locked in the Vodafone RO network.
I apologize if I posted this thread in the wrong category, but this seemed like the most appropriate one. Also, I apologize if I didn't make a lot of sense, but I'm a newbie. I welcome additional questions if you have any.
Best Regards,
Steven

Something weird about my WIZA200

Well, i tryied to see what information i retrieve with the french rom(QT_FR_9100_2170706_21707106_20710_180406) of qtek 9100 executable, u know, the screen in wich u can get info about the device language, image versiion and model make. Followed the standard procedure , CID unlocked, backed up the rom, no need to sim unlock cbecause it was no locked. Here comes the weird part: the screen that was supposed to return the info (where u still can quit),didn't return any info, it was like upgrading nothing to nothing. It's a g3 and i did the normal way to CID unlock it. now whehn i reboot the phone, the SPL remained the same (1.01), but the IPL has changed from 1.01 to IPL 1.01.0000. Why those four zeros?...neve knew.Anyway i didn't installed any rom , because of no info on that screen...was afraid not to damage my device . Still, the qtek rom provided here for WIZA200,(RUU_Prodigy_1010708_108_Qtek_FRA_SHIP) returned this info.Wich one is correct?, If i want to install a new rom do i have to CID unlock again, even if i didn't installed any?
I forgot to mention that the phone is in french language and i do not know from wich vendor came.
Here's the info:

Please Really Need Help for Flashig / Upgrading

Hi!
I am totally new to HTC Diamond. I got my set from England (Orange). It was locked. I was able to unlock it with the free solution available. Ok. Now the problem is I heard about TouchFLO but it I can't seem to activate. What can be the reason and what can I do?
Second, mine says it has :
ROM Version: 1.37.405.1 WWE
Radio Version: 1.20.OliNex
IS it ok. Or can I get a new more better version. Whats with radio version? Please guide me what can I do? I right now have no idea. I tried the tutorials as well but I am confused.
thats not the radio version, thats the SPL (Service Provider Lock).
and its a Hard SPL, which i presume you flashed to 'unlock' it.
the Hard SPL lets you flash a different ROM (but voids your warranty) it doesnt SIM unlock it tho.
TF3D (Touch Flo 3D) should run automatically when the phone is started, if it doesnt, go to Start> Settings> Personal tab> Today> Items tab and make sure "TouchFLO 3D" is checked.

The ROM version you're showing here is really old (as ROM's go!). You can get a link to the latest Orange ROM (v1.93) here, or flash one of the superb cooked ROM's in this forum

Thanks a lot. But flashing with v1.93 will not do anything bad with the set. I once tried to upgrade my Imate jamin and it went dead and was not repaired. So I am a little hesitant you know.
you have already voided your warranty by flashing a Hard SPL. i would suggest flashing it back to the original, then flashing the latest Orange ROM (its not supposed to be too bad).

Ok ok man. i got it myself without looking them thanks. But now I have this problem that messages are not being sent. i tried soft reset and hard reset but no avail. What could be the reason for that? B
By the way I upgraded it with 1.93 flash given above in this thread.
Try the new 2.00 ROM.
You can also try one of the smaller lite ones
(Swtos, Panosha), each time followed by a HARD reset (backup your Internal Storage data first).
If THAT doesn't work, you might have an SMS configuration/operator issue.

can anymore upload to this forums please, thanks for any help ^^

Ive tried to download this file but its not allowing me access to it.
Hi everyone. If you want the latest 3 Australia rom then you can get it rom http://www.diamond-dazz.com/Files/Three/RUU_Diamond_Hutch_AUS_1.93.861.4_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.44.25.24_1.08.25.20_Ship.exe
I have tried installing that rom on my phone but it says that I have an invalid ID or something like that. Obviously it does not like my serial number. I tried putting HardSPL on my phone and still get the same error. It always happens at about 1 percent when installing.
Any ideas how to work around it.

You must flash Hard-Spl in your device, then it works!

I have Orange UK Diamond, NO HardSPL and i can flash any official roms with no issues.
I must say this 3 ROM is great, my standby time has increased greatly.
Try to unlock your phone, CID/Security than you will be able to flash any official rom, with out hardspl
Tried HardSPL and that does not work. I can put any cooked roms on there but not the official three australia firmware because of some CID or something like that. What is that 200meg file that you sent me a link to fooie.
Cheers

Just use 7zip and unpack the ROM, Take the NBH file out and rar it together with the Diamond RUU. Then flash it.
Thanks guys and gals for everything. I ended up using 1.93 for the HardSPL and it worked. 1.40 did not work. I aslo tried the 200 meg file fooie posted that worked. So both options do work.
Cheers

Hi,
Can anyone please help provide some clear guidance on the following issues and questions:
I recently purchased a HTC Touch Diamond. It was purchased brand new and unlocked from a reasonably reputable Australian store, and is branded with the Australian carrier Telstra NextG, and appears to be running a customised Telstra ROM. The phone is currently being used on the Hutchison 3 carrier in Australia.
The phone has the following hardware/firmware settings:
R 1.00.25.06 (Radio Version)
G 52.31.25.13U (Protocol Version)
D 1.38.00.00 (ROM Version)
Installed ROM Version: 1.38.841.5 WWE
ROM Date: 07/07/08
I am finding that when using the EDGE data connection, whenever I attempt to make a call, the phone instantly crashes and reboots. Everytime. Arrggghhh! I am also finding that when using the HSDPA phone connection it has quite poor signal strength that results in lots of call dropouts. For a brand new phone these issues are very annoying.
I then discovered on the XDA-Developers site that HTC has released updates for their ROM on Hutchison 3 that, according to the htc Australia website, may fix the crash issue described above. Thanks!!! I've found this site is hugely informative but unfortunately for a noob like me, it is taking a while to learn what all the HTC jargon _actually means_.
I originally tried to download the official HTC Hutchison '3' ROM Update Utility but was denied access to this from the HTC website. I'm guessing this may be because the phone is Telstra Branded with a Telstra assigned serial number.
Eventually getting past this, I obtained access to the official HTC ROM Update Utility here:

So, my several related questions are as follows:
1. Is there an exact stepwise procedure that I can use that will definitely not brick my phone? Eg. Something really informative like this post: (http://selfmod.net/?p=7)
2. Reading the posts on the XDA Developers site seem to indicate I need to install Hard-SPL onto the phone first. Is this correct? and if yes, then which exact edition (Noob Edition, or Developer Edition) and version number should be used for the HTC Diamond specifications above? What is the official link for downloading this?
3. Will running the downloaded official HTC Hutchison 3 ROM provided above, without installing Hard-SPL at all, have the risk of bricking the phone?
4. What does Hard-SPL _actually_ do? Even after reading this: (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Diamond_HardSPL) it's still not actually clear to me what this really does, but then I'm just a noob.
5. Exactly how do I backup my original Telstra ROM, just in case I need to re-install this.
Any help with these questions is appreciated.
Thanks.

I've have just done this on a Telstra phone but updating to the 1.93 HK rom.
1. Download the Telstra Rom from the link you have to your PC. This will be your backup. You can always re install this.
2. Install 1.24 Hard SPL as per instructions available on wiki and elsewhere. Basically it removes the CID security lock so you won't have vendor id mismatches etc. as this is the way HTC prevents other regional roms ending up elsewhere.
3. After rebooting, flash the 3 rom and install either using the KAISIMG.NBH from the internal storage (method as described elsewhere on this site) or by the USB method (standard exe installation).
4. Chances are this will all go through without issues if you do everything correctly and follow instructions. There is always a risk in doing all of this so there are no guarantees. Should something go wrong you should look at how to recover a bad flash.
I hope this helps.

Hi yozhek,
Your suggestions are very helpful. Thanks!
I found this this link (http://www.4winmobile.com/forums/ht...mplete-upgrading-guide-hardspl-radio-rom.html) that seems to quite clearly explain what's involved in upgrading various sections of the phone. It also explains key pieces of the jargon/terminology so after reading this various aspects of the upgrade process are actually starting to make sense.
I also found another post on this site where 'princi' had tried to flash the HTC Hutchison 3 ROM using the Signed version of Hard-SPL (ie. Noob Edition) and it did not work. Apparently the ROM needs to be re-worked and signed by someone/grop on this site... the "Key-Master" i guess? In relation to the issue 'princi' had encountered, someone had suggested he try the Unsigned Hard-SPL (ie. Developer Edition) but there's no info posted so far indicating if this has worked.
In relation to your suggested steps:
Step 1 - done.
Step 2 - Do you mean the Unsigned Hard-SPL (ie. Developer Edition) version? The Unsigned Hard-SPL version currently available from here (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Diamond_HardSPL) seems to be a more recent version number than your suggested 1.24 Hard-SPL. Does this matter?
Step 3 - Does the 'Hutchison 3 ROM' upgrade also upgrade the Radio ROM in the same single process, or are you suggesting using KAISIMG.NBH to do this? Is upgrading the Radio ROM really necessary, and if yes, what is the best link to obtain this from? (I did try to find this).
Step 4 - Mate, I hope you're right. Thanks!
Thanks Chaps for notifying that this ROM is available. Just loaded it with no probs using the DIAMIMG.nbh method from internal memory.
For anyone you is wondering why to use this ROM. The benefits are that it adds THREE network branding and a dedicated TF3D "3" tab with shortcuts to several "3" related items. Radio included is 1.08.25.20. Will give it a run for a day or tow and report back.
Hi Guys,
I am experiencing a very similar issue.
My unlocked Telstra HTC which I use on the "3" network, the system volume periodically turns itself off (and it is not just that the volume button has been turned down) and doesn't have any volume until I power off and on again. After reading a number of threads, it has been suggested to download the new Telstra ROM for the phone, but despite having updated the new Telstra ROM, I am still having the problem. I thought maybe changing to the new hutchinson "3" ROM may help with this problem. (or will it not?)
So
1. I have installed the unsigned Hard-SPL and the phone now displays SPL-1.40.OliNex.
2. I tried to upgrade the Hutchinson "3" ROM via the PC using the exe, but it is telling me "ERROR 244: INVALID MODEL ID."
3. I then tried to install it using the DIAMIMG.ndh method, but when it reboots, it asked me to 1.Press vol up to restore man default 2. Press volDown to restore man default and format moviNAND........ I suspect this is not the screen that I am supposed to see. I don't know how to get it to boot off internal storage ROM.
Any useful suggestions gratefully received.
pkilroy,
This is an extract from my ROM reflash checklist that I use religiously. It should get you going.
5. Flash the New ROM
Place the nbh file of the ROM you want to flash in the "Internal Storage" directory, and name it DIAMIMG.nbh
To initiate ROM load, keep volume down and back keys pressed (arrow pointing to the left above call-end key) and press red reset button. Wait for the new ROM to be flashed.
6. Factory reset when new ROM load complete. [Vol Down + Enter + Reset] then [Vol Up]
I have tried it with diamimg.nbh in the internal storage. But after I press Volume down, back <--- and reset, it says loading ... no image file found!! then it stays on the tricolor screen forever.
I have rechecked a few times and have make sure i have not put diamimg.nbh.nbh in the internal storage. Even tried hard reset the phone and internal storage first.
I am able to flash Dutty's ROM on my TD now, but somehow just can't get the HTC official Hutch 3 to work! any other suggestions?

How to verify Hard-SPL is installed?

Hi everyone,
I recently SIM-unlocked my phone with Olipro's unlocker (from http://diamond.htc-unlocks.com/) and whilst I went through the three steps to:
- install Hard-SPL (which seemed to run/install something on the device - it certainly went through the motions),
- install a specially-patched radio
- perform the SIM unlock
This all worked fine but when I reset with the volume-down button I get the following info on the tri-colour screen:
Code:
DIAM100 MFG 64M
SPL-1.35.0000
MicroP-Diam (LED) v11
PSOC-Diam STAGE_PVT v0x30
Serial
From what I can gather it ought to to say Olipro (Olinex?) somewhere but mine doesn't... does that mean Hard-SPL did not get installed?
Mathew
Try to download an flash Hard-spl 1.4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=93362&d=1213719705
After that check if the spl version has change to 1.4...
Thanks Söderström. Is the fact that it is 'unsigned' an issue? I'm getting well confused with all this (my fault I'm sure) - perhaps I should adopt the approach of 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'?
Having gone looking for a signed v1.40 I found what appears to be the (one of several?) official Hard-SPL thread however the first post discuss v1.37 and v1.93 yet the version of the two attachments are v1.38 and not mentioned! Later on in the thread it appears that the 'attachment with no version mentioned' is actually v1.40...
The post also states that this procedure will hard-reset my phone - is this true? If so, I think I'm better of leaving well alone... I assume that I only need Hard-SPL should I update the ROM in which case a hard-reset will not be an issue in those circumstances.
[Edit: Reading the thread properly I think I've now sussed that the unversioned attachment is indeed v1.40 and that v1.93 does not feature at all. That clarifies that a little, but what about the hard-reseting? The unlocking process, which (supposedly) included installing Hard-SPL, didn't require a hard-reset - why should this?]
Mathew
Try the attached file. (Sorry for not posting link to the original page. Was bored to find it!!)
And Hard spl will NOT reset your device.
Unsigned is better than signed becuase signed the team behind Hard-spl must verify the rom.. Use Unsigned and read the theard carefully before flashing.....
You can backup all your contacts, call history, message... with pimbackup (free)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705
Thank you both. What I think I'll do is wait until I update the ROM - I've come to the conclusion that I don't need Hard-SPL right now and so if I wait until I do update the ROM it won't matter if it hard-resets or not. To be honest I'm sure I'd be staying quite 'mainstream' hence I imagine they'd be signed anyway.
It's still very confusing - OliNex's post could not be more clear in stating that INSTALLING THIS WILL HARD-RESET THE DEVICE (this is stated separately and in addition to the hard-reset warning using the SSPLManual method).
Thanks again for your time - much appreciated.
Mathew

[Q] Flashing unknown Rhodium

Hi, I recently bought a new Rhodium on ebay from Hong Kong. I'm a junior when it comes to flashing but did succeed with Tael on my previous Touch Pro 1.
On the Rhodium I was looking for a rom with speed and a low bug count and choose the Silence or Energy roms. I could flash neither even after unlocking. I flashed Mighty and I thought successfully but when I rebooted only had the HTC screen then stars and I thought I'd bricked. Took it to my local shop who played with it and then handed it to a guru and came to the conclusion it was dead. I continued and found on the tricolour boot screen it responded to a usb connection. It is now working but the only rom it will accept is from the site.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Rhodium/Shipped_Roms
and is the
HTC RHOD100 n/a 1.86.401.0 (67102) WWE
I don't know whether I have a GSM or CDMA phone but it is a T7373
Is it possible to load Silence or another fast custom rom?
Thanks
In essence
I believe the T7373 is the Rhodium 100 and that it is a GSM phone.
So I should look for ROM's on XDA and not on ppcgeeks
My question now boils down to why can I only flash the stock ROM and if I try the Silence ROM, for example, it says not suitable for this device.
Hi
when you say "after unlocking" do you mean you installed HardSPL, found here?

The Rhodium Model Number can be found at the sticker in the battery compartment under the battery...I'm curious about the purchase of the device from Hong Kong and whether or not it's an official HTC and if not, would that have anything to do with it.
Rhodium 100
Thanks for the replies

this is what I get after a google
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-touch-pro/57578-error-244-invalid-model-id-reflashing-stock-rom.html
Are you sure you got the correct (GSM) version of HardSPL?
You may have to relock and then rerun HardSPL

Locking and Unlocking
Well, I don't think I'm gonna get any more advice. So my conclusion is that my phone is not properly unlocked. I've tried the relocker and unlocker posted by OliNex at the top of this board. Can anyone tell me what I see on my tri-colour boot up screen which tells me whether the phone is locked or unlocked? Thanks
i also bought one from hongkong on ebay from dealrus or something and is also a rhod100 and have a energy rom on it so if bought it from the same seller it is possible
