Hello, i'm trying to extract the 0410 italian version of that mui but it just don't want to be extracted. I mean, i tried ROM Extractor and i get the error unable to copy. Now i'm trying to use Total commander, but each time i try to paste the copied file into storage memory, first i get the prompt that target file already exists, owerwrite? (the target file on the storage memory is 0 byte, 1.01.1601 1:00:00) If i choose yes, it says unable to copy/move file.
Any idea?
You'll only be able to do it with ROM Extractor. Just make sure you have a path in the Save To field as by default it doesn't have one (\ will save it to the root directory of the device) and a name in the Save as field.

You can use Total Commander (google it) to make it writable.
If the file is in the ROM, you won't able to edit it. Instead, copy the file into another location, edit it, and overwrite (copy over) the original file.
i try to copy a file out of the windows directory and i get the message, file is in rom and cannot be copied....???

if the system you wanna dump is WM5.0, it's a easy work. Use grab_it or other util to dump the rom to raw BIN image file, then take IMGFS_TOOLS to extract files.
I want to copy some of the cab files that were put in to the phones memory by my service provider, is it going to be in the EXT rom, i am pretty new to PPC
the cab contains some SP settings n stuff which gets installed when a Hard Reset is done..

yes it is in the external rom that operators put cab files to automaticly be installed
There are two ways to get at does files:
1) Find out how to unlock / unhide your ext ROM.
2) Use total commander - not sure if it works for all phones but if you enter Extended_ROM2 in the path field it should be able to open the folder as read-only even when hidden. (The folder name may be different for different devices)
The first methods are not for the rookies.
The second method works. Total Commander is a freeware. At Total Commander's command line, type \Extended_ROM\ and you will see the extended rom.
Hello everyone, here is my question there is a couple of cool apps but they are .zip folders and when i download them and put them in my phone it says "there is no application associated with this file. run the app first and then open this file inside the application". But i don't know how to run the app.
Please help me, it is driving me crazy!

Perhaps if you could be more specific as to what kind of applications you are trying to install. You may need to install a driver in order to open said apps.
did you save the file to your storage card? if you did then open it up there first, then run it on your phone.
Did you download a .cab or a .zip file to begin with?? Sometimes your PC will identify a .cab file as a 'Compressed (Zipped) Folder'. (1) If you downloaded a .cab file, then just move it to your device or storage card, then execute it from there. (2) If you downloaded a .zip file, then you will need to extract (unzip) the file on the PC first, if it contains a .cab file then follow step 1 above.
Sometimes program files are zipped up for transport (e.g. an RUU packages), those files need to be extracted on the PC and then executed from there. Hope this helps!

I let you here some tools to work on ROM.
First One is Brottli (files ROM format) to Ext4, like it say change from brottli format to ext4 format as example system.new.dat.br and system.transfer.list to system.ext4

Second on ( the one i use more to extract files from ext4 format images) 7z_Ext4_Imgextractor, for this tool you need to extract, enter in work folder, right click on 7z.exe, compatibility and select execute as administrator or it will not work properly.

Third, is the same as 7z_Ext4_Imgextractor.zip but i only use if 7z_Ext4_Imgextractor.zip doesn´t work. Some times extract with a few errors...

And the last one, is a Update.zip, inside you will find system and vendor folders, inside that folder you can paste a directory/file as you find inside the extract image, example if the file is in vendor/etc, you need to create/paste etc directory inside vendor...
Important Only works with directory with 755 permission and files with 644 permission!!!!! You need to know what you are doing...
