If there is, probably it would only work over WIFI, as I doubt EDGE really offers enough bandwidth

Take out your camera and tape it to the front side of your phone, DUH!!!

Or I guess you could flip the phone front to back really quick... Now THAT would look funny in public.

have you read any of this?
how can you video chat when your screen and keyboard are on the opposite side as the camera? you can get some software that turns the phone into a webcam and you can plug it into your pc and video chat that way.
I think video chat is not just to show your face to other person but you can show them your surrounding for example in the school you can show the lecutre to your friend if he dont come to class.

I got the N73 RM-132 and it has a webcam on the front but 3g and webcam are disabled WHATTA JOKE

Wow - that PocketCaster is cool. It's amazing the things you can do on the go these days.
ive got octro video and octro talk. you can use octro video via cam on your phone so your family or friends can see you via there pc. octro talk works great per to per thats useing gtalk google talk on your phone to phone video works great with the dash. http://www.octro.com/index.php <<< its free works over edge but better over wi-fi

Use the Options>About Messenger>Report A Problem menu to report this to yahoo if you want it to be fixed.
Sorry, not what you expected but the only way
The more we are that report the issue the sooner it will get fixed, probably not by the time it's officially launched but it's worth the try.
Mention that you can't switch to the front facing camera but that the one on the back works.
Don't forget to specify device and OS version.
Maybe it's worth linking the original post in the Evo 4G section, which also includes download links.
Fyi, it's a version of Y! Messenger supporting Android to PC videocall
yup, got it myself from there. Hope we manage to bring this to yahoo's attention because once the app is released they really are slow to update...

I just discovered the same problem on my Galaxy S 4G. I am able to make video chat calls from my PC to my phone, but the phone only uses the back facing camera. Also, the sound quality is horrible! Lots of static. In its current state, the software is useless. I hope-hope-hope that Skype will enable video chat calling on Android the way they have on the iPhone - Yahoo Messenger for Android is just a beta program that needs a lot of fixing.
Back to trying Tango for now to make mobile to mobile cross-platform calls. So far, there is no software that works across all platforms for video calling. Skype! Can you hear me...?
videochat working on 2.3.4 version
Videochat is working in Google Talk.. update your android version into 2.3.4 and finally your front facing will be used.. tested and 100% working on my Mytouch 4G

i try in my samsung galaxy S i9000 copy the jar to system/framework change the permissions to 644 but the image when spin to front camera is black, returning to te back camera is the only method for see video.
Any suggestion?

Front facing cam doesn't work on my new HTC Sensation with Yahoo Messenger

If your device are running android 2.3.3 gingerbread rom.you can flip either front or back camera you want to use..just update your yahoo messenger and plug in,

You can use now your front facing camera on yahoo messenger.just update yuor yahoo mssenger and plug in.mine is already working.both skype and yahoo.
I know we dont have a front facing camera, but i like the slight ui changes google made to gtalk in the new version, can someone share a compatible apk for the desire hd?
