DASH Screen Problem GRAY BAR AT TOP PLEASE HELP ME!!!! - HTC Excalibur

So, I pulled my Dash out of my pocket today, and found that the top 1/3 of the LCD is grey!!! It's only the top third, the rest of the screen is fine. It's almost like the screen is foggy on top, where you can see the icons but its grey. Please please please help me what should i do???
NOTE: I reflashed it with TMOBILE's ROMS and HTC's, and no change. PLEASE GIVE ME ANY ADVICE YOU HAVE AS TO THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM AND SOLUTIONS!!!! THANKS!!!

I work with LCD's and it sounds like the LCD has cracked, it will only take a hairline crack but if the crack has gone thru one of the tracks etched into the glass you will need a new LCD. You can get a new one on Ebay and I am sure you will be able to find some instruction on how to fit a new LCD if you Google it.

Fair enough. Isn't it possible that the ribbon connector is just loose? It's like a perfect 1/3rd of the screen, which makes me wonder if it's really something like a crack. Is that still possible? For example, when i reflashed it, the top bar of the bootloader (red) was perfectly the only part that was grey...

Dude, the screen is messed up. What do you want us to do about it ? There's any magical software fixes or advice we can give you. Either take the phone apart and see what's wrong (if you're technically inclined).. or get another phone!

So it's for sure the LCD?

That certainly looks like a faulty LCD to me

yup. i just sent mine back a few months ago for the same problem.

[Q] Desire Screen crack

topad while in my pocket my phone recieved a little pressure from a metal bar under a table at lunch, this resulted in a "tree" crack spreading from the edge above the menu button, however when feeling it you cannot feel the crack so i assume the crack is on the bottom side of the glass, there is no bleeding of the AMOLED, and on boot screen looks fine, however the touch doesnt work, i assume this is because the glass is providing constant pressure causing it to be ineffective, or is it the digitiser aswell? :/
i found two links to parts (a replacement front body panel, and a digitiser, cannot provide link because of 8 message forum rule) , and i would appreciate an opinion on if i should try to fix it my self or send it to the repair centre as htc support has suggested i do
Cheers
depends on whether you wanna risk messing it up I suppose.

Ive looked at the phone and it seems that to replace the bezel its just 4 screws, no hastle, but the digitizer might be a bit harder not sure though :/
do you know of any sites with DIY guides, because youtube hasnt got anything...:/
but atm im thinking of sending the phone to HTC and getting a quote, then ill see what to do from there

Bubbles under digitizer? No screen protector

Hi all. Quick searching leads me nowhere as there are thousands of problems concerning issues I'm NOT having. Sorry for the crappy 3ds camera pic, it's the only thing I have at my disposal right now besides the phone. As I said in the title, I'm not using a screen protector - this is a stock phone right out of the factory with no accessories, albeit aged a bit.
If you'll take a look, you'll see two screen bubbles. The huge funky-looking one at the top started out looking like the one at the bottom, and grew over a period of a few weeks. The bottom one started out really small and doubled in size to what it is now, but has since stopped.
It's really annoying and starting to bother me, but I was wondering if anyone had experienced similar issues, or has any input whether or not I can maybe fix this thing without having to get a whole new screen/digitizer/whatever. No replacement plans on this phone so gotta figure something else out. Any idea what's going on?

Is the plastic actually raised up? Can you see it when the screen is off? To me it looks like the digatizer may be going out, but its hard to tell from a pic.
It appears to be sealed and working fine... just has bubbles. I don't really know much about the insides of this phone, but it almost looks as if whatever is behind the digitizer is slightly warped and might be causing some contact with the glass or something like that. Reflections (off what is behind the screen - lcd? Not the reflections off the glass) tend to bend near the bubbles, whereas everywhere else behind the glass is pretty straight.
Essentially it just looks like water droplets or air bubbles forming on the inside surface of the glass, but it's never seen water before. I don't think the digitizer is failing.
Same problem, can I fix this myself?
Hi guys, I have the exact same problem on my HTC Desire. Touch is working fine, the pixels underneath are ok... yet this thing is expanding. What used to be 3 little bubbles near the very corner moved and turned into this amoeba looking thing after a few months.
Here are a few other shots.
Hope someone can let me know the possible verdict? Is it gone? Can it only be repaired by a professional or can I expect to be able to "clean up" the inside of the screen if I dismantle my phone as it is done here?:

Maybe the liquids from the lcd are boiling from the heat? Sounds dumb but is a possibility

Yikes. Mine is still having the same issues. I'm thinking about just tearing it down soon and figuring it out myself. A little nervous working on something with such small components. Any tips for a first teardown? I need to get a T6 torx and I've already looked at a couple disassembly guides, was a while ago though.
As far as I can tell, I will have to replace either the digitizer/glass or the LCD. If it's the latter I'll probably just upgrade the phone cause they seem pretty pricey.
Ok, I did what I said and investigated myself. Unfortunately, I broke my phone doing it.
The problem is the front glass/digitizer. I couldn't get the LCD off, but I pried it back enough to see bubbles through the glass looking from the inside.
I broke my LCD prying on it, now I have an ugly black spot. Guess I'll be buying an LCD and a digitizer now. Anybody have some spare ones, or know the cheapest place to get them?

There are some digitizers on ebay for about $20 USD. i dont know about LCDs cause i never needed to replace mine but i would assume that they would be a little more expensive. Also, make sure you get the digitizer WITH the bezel because it will make your life a ton easier.
I'd better not touch it then
Sorry to hear about your LCD, D-Lew
Guess I wont be touching mine on my own. I'll definitely break it trying to do the same thing as you. I wonder if it's gonna break my phone if I just leave it as is. I mean, apart from the fact that it is there, it is not affecting the performance at all.
The bubble might get bigger. That's all you have to worry about.

[Q] Screen is grey/pink

Hi guys
I hope everyone is well
A week or 2 ago i noticed a pink line down the right hand side of my screen
ALso the bottom of the screen was slightly pink although i could see the text.
Gradually over the last couple of weeks the pink at the bottom of the screen has nearly filled the whole screen. The bottom of the screen is now turning from pink to grey.
Obviously i believe this to be a screen/LED problem
I have looked on ebay and found screens with digitizers but I am not sure if this will do the job or it needs another part with it
can someone please point me in the right direction...preferably with links
thanks in advance

Hi mate, I recently changed the screen and digitizer on my phone. If it's just the screen thats broken then you only need a screen, however you need to be VERY careful when taking out the screen from the digitizer, as if you break the connector to the digitizer then you will need to buy a new one too! Search youtube for "bravo disassembly procedure" or something along those lines, it's the official htc video.
It's actually pretty straightforward to do, and you don't need to treat it as gently as nitro glycerine either, as long as you don't use too much excess force.
Thanks
Hi mate
thanks for the reply
I have seen those videos around and got one in my favourites already
By the sound of my problem do you think i will just need a screen and digitizer or will i need more

Hi guys
Anyone managed to have a look at this?
anyone
sorry to post again
anyone able to comment on this? please
Hey sorry mate.. Hmm if it wasn't the screen then it must be something else... I don't want to tell you what it is for you to aimlessly keep buying stuff, because it's just not worth it. If it wasn't the screen then it could be so many other things.

Screen problem

Hi everybody I have a question regarding a screen problem I have.
Like I mentioned in an earlier post I accidentally spilt a lot of pure alcohol(the kind you use to disinfect a wound or something) on my HOX.
After a while the phone screen showed some strange grey shape on the lower right part of the screen and a bright white long shape looking like water jumping from a fountain on the left side starting from the bottom of the screen extending to almost the middle of the screen. After turning it off for 8-10 hours they grey shape dissapeared and the white remains and it doesnt look like it will ever go.
Strangely enough the HOX has no problem everything is working but I noticed that some apps are working somehow over the white shape covering it and some others like facebook seem to be under it making it visible.
I made some screen shots to show you the problem but stangely enough this white shape is not shown at all in the screen shots!!!!
Can anyone tell me where this thing might be?
LCD? Digitizer? elsewhere?
HTC funny enough suggested a factory reset to solve this and if that doesnt work(like there is a chance that it will...) to just send it to service.
I plan to play dumb to service hopping to fix this under my warranty as the phone has absolutely no scratch or anything anywhere as I never even dropped it once.
Do you think they can somehow find out what happened of maybe they will fix it under warranty?
Thanks a lot for your time reading this and I d love to have your opinions
Any photo?
Perhaps some alcohol got stuck between the lcd and glass...

Looks like overheating damage by a component beneath the screen, possibly something reacting to/affected by the alcohol.

When you say beneath the screen do you mean beneath the LCD as well or just beneath the glass?
I am just thinking that if its beneath the LCD it would probably not show plus the phone would have some kind of functional problem(it works just fine) wouldnt it?
Beneath the screen assembly. It looks like (possibly) some component or board has caused damage to or affected the digitizer, as your actual display seems ok.

So the service corrective action will be a screen assembly replacement or you think that something more will be needed?
Also if the digitizer was damaged wouldnt the phone use be affected?Cause the device has not been affected in anyway.
Everything works like it used to before this damage.
Send it of for repair, youll have to pay of course, how much tdo you like your phone?, that's the question.

I like my HOX very much otherwise why would I pay 428 euro to buy it?
Of course what makes the HOX stand out of the samrtphone crowd is the amazing display so of course I want it fixed.
I will try to cheat saying I know nothing about it(the phone doesnt even has a scratch) hoping waranty to cover this but if this doesnt work I ll have to pay 196 euro for screen replacement.
Although appart from that mark nothing else is affected I am worried that perhaps a screen replacement might not be enough if the digitizer is affected by something beneath it.
Do you think that a screen replacement will be enough to solve this problem?
HTC will give you the digitizer and LCD, especially if you end up paying, which will then get you a new bezel and unibody all still tapped up in protective coat, I've had it done for my phone, 160gbp.I even think you get the Onex+ version screen, gorilla glass 2.Could be wrong

[Q] Display problem - local greenish pixels

Hi,
please have a look at the attached image, cause its hard to explain.
It was kind of strange... it started with some cloudy pixels in the middle of the screen, they went down to where they are now and got more intense.
Its now there since about 4 weeks without change.
Anyone experienced it? I guess I need to replace the screen, or is there any other chance? In case I have to replace it, what would I need to get? The touch screen digitzer or the full lcd display?
Thanks
Susi

Although i'm not an expert on this, But i should suggest you to replace Digitizer only because it seems like Display is okay just chemical imbalance between digitizer and display panel.
If you've proper tool to disable the device and with some flat hard plastic or something try to take this to the edge where it easily go out. To me Display seems okie. Because such things happen when we put phone in tight jeans and due to over compression such happens but it has nothing to with display panel, its just chemical in between display and digitizer.
I had an iPod 4th Gen,. Same kinda Dark black spot i've noticed after single drop on top right corner and later it disappear automatically. So just saying try that first rather buying whole new panel or digitizer. Flat blunt plastic to take that bubble to the side
