[Dev Topic] Fixing a 19900 build kitchen.

Hi all,
I've managed to find a dump of build 19900, however I haven't managed to make a working ROM out of it as yet. I'm hoping to find a way to get it working with bepe's kitchen tools - therefore removing the reliance on a custom chinese binary to build these ROMs.
I believe this ROM is big storage, so I'd like to make available a non big storage version as well for everyone to benefit.
Any takers to help out?

Will take a look at it dude, aint got a load of time at the mo though. Might have a quick PM session and see if theres a WWE version we cna use.

Have you guys tried PM'ing Dvha79_ddt? I'm not much help on cooking but i'll try and suggest anything

I've managed to get the ROM to build using Bepes kitchen, however it doesn't boot. It sits there at a black screen on power on...
This leads me to believe it's part of the XIP that is just wrong.
I've attached what I've extracted from the included os.nb by doing:
nbsplit -hermes os.nb
RomMaster -w 5 os.nb.payload -x -o xip.bin
Run xipport, choose Dump xip.bin
I then deleted os.nb & os.nb.extra.
Then put the XIP dump together as it should be (i think) for bepe's kitchens.
Not 100% sure where to go from here...
edit: Oh, I've attached the TOOLS directory too - just in case you don't have a copy of Bepes great work.

This is a non big storage modded 19900 xip that works.
I haven't used in a kitchen just yet.
I will have a look at the dump later on.

Hmmm - I've used your XIP - it boots, but same as using the default ROM kitchen tools, it hangs after displaying splash2. I replaced the OEM_FLASHDRV.DLL in OEMDrivers with a non-BS version, in case that was an issue, but still no go...

For now you can try to merge that XIP with the payload from the ROM (without kitchen) and it should boot&work.
Will try to get the romhdr.bin and in fact to rebuild the whole ROM folder and let u know whats happening.

Using Dvha79_ddt 900
I know it's not what you are looking for, but I am using Dvha79_ddt ROM and it is working as well as his 701 which was very fast and rock solid. Would like to help in any way I can as I loved your ROM's apart from the issues. As a noobie where do you find these ROM's in the first place?

A lot of it is hit and miss finding things here and there - like this kitchen that seems to be almost complete, but just doesn't work. A bit of hacking around and it can probably be made to work.
As WM6.1 doesn't exist for the hermes devices, it is always ported from something else - which can lead to weirdness.
Most of it is pot luck, and a lot of knowledge (and I'm missing some in getting this kitchen working )

just a working trick
what I am sure is working (tried it before) is replace the whole ROM folder from new kitchen with your working one and then just slip in the xip.bin into the new payload in a few steps.

Still can't get this working....
I've changed the BuildNB.bat to show the following:

This should use your XIP in the ROM, which shows as 3.62.07.Dan - however I still can't get past splash2... Eventually, the backlight goes out, but it doesn't seem to display anything past splash2... Eventually, the screen goes off (power setting). Turning it back on via the power button just gives me a white screen... I'm at a loss to figure out what's happening here.
The OS.nb.payload is the same (non-BS) that I was using from my 10.1 release of my ROM, and the XIP folder contains the same XIP as 10.1 release (Build 19209) - however the XIP version shouldn't matter, as we delete it and merge yours into the OS-new.nb instead...

About the same happened to me and after a re-flash of a good nbh I got some very strange things happening. I could not install any cab. Very weird.
I had to format everything.
Anyway the xip is working if slipped into old rom, but that's not much of a news...

I looked into S00 of FLASHDRV.DLL module in order to convert it, but it does not look like usually.
Maybe that dump is not from a hermes device.

Hrrrm - that is possible, however the site said that it was for Hermes devices... Are you looking at it in the OEMDrivers directory or the XIP?
Can we swap out the FLASHDRV.DLL from a working ROM? I'm pretty sure that isn't tied to a certain build?

I can try to make it work with the XIP from the 19900 version existing on this thread. (actually from there was the xip I uploaded). Could it work? There will be maybe a 409 & 804 conflict?? I have no clue really. Can only try.

I don't believe the XIP is localised, nor are the OEMDrivers. I may be wrong here though. 409 vs 804 should in theory only become an issue when applications that use localisation is involved..

It is definitely not a hermes rom as the kitchen does not accept a hermes payload while other kitchens accept older (different) payloads. Kitchen halts at ImgfsFromNb.
I can not think of something else. I give up on this one.

One thing is that you have to include version used with each mui
like HTC.Album.1.0.1030.720 or every mui with responding dll or exe file
like sys muis from 19212 dont work on new sys 20755 so you have to mix SYS files

mui files are all over the SYS and OEM folders... you neeed to catch them all.... in fact all the EXT pkgs needs a MUI but not all apps

WM 6.5 Native Kernel/nk.exe/xip.bin for Hermes

I think the topic pretty much says it all;
This is a native WM 6.5 Hermes OEMXIPKernel/xip.bin/nk.exe - aware of the new Slot 60/Slot 61 virtual memory layout - what does this mean for you as a chef?
Now you don't have to recmod any modules in \SYS anymore, to port over WM 6.5! And you have 64mb free to convert more files to modules!
But you will need to use a relocation tool that is aware of the new memory layout;
Ervius Visual Kitchen + Bepe's New Kitchen do this with the "Real WM 6.5 AKU" checkbox
There's also a build of "WMReloc" 2.0 floating around that may support this, that would be compatible with the "old style" kitchen (buildos + g'reloc, it would replace g'reloc)

thank you. I have been following your topic for some time and I must admit its way over my head. So do we just not use the \SYS folder anymore? I'm really confused on this.

over my head too... does this mean improved memory performance for 6.5 ROMs on Hermes? Storage or RAM? Could use a RAM boost with most ROMs...

goona redo the kitchen for 21807 with the nk.exe that nurkamol gaves me... oemxipkernel here must do the trick inthe ervius last kitchen just lemme get rid of the big admin folders there! a little confusing... but with a nice master chef ould be posible...

Edited: first try was a failure! i set all the kitchen with all the 21807 modded of course... The thing i change was... the nk that nurkamol gaves me, and I couldnt find where to place the .ROM folder (it was on the sys, but in new kitchen where to place it?) and set kitchen to Imagestart at 0 PP 6mb not works... then i Add tehe default wincenls of course it was verwrited by OEM and chenge Startimagfs at 340000 and PP to 8mb and not works...
Next attempt...
Dont delete any folder from 21807 and let the xip ported nk by josh...

For others: don't panic, it has 15MB of PP set so you have to change it. btw, implantxip can't do that, you have to do it with osnbtool - or manually

Edit your TOOLS\kitchen_build_rom.bat and find the line with implantxip and replace it with those two lines:

Use the Romhdr and os.nb.payload for any other build cause its special for Hermes... I ask you this cause the OEMxipkernel modules are different, are many more on this kernel by Da_G.

I've took from Da_G only nk.exe, ceddk.dll and flashdrv.dll. You have to either take his boot.rgu, too - or ensure you have this line in yours:

WM6.5 - a plea for a clean/extralight version, pls.!!!

@all,
one may think of wm6.5 what one wants, comparing them roms to wm6.1 they are not my choice, though some nice effects of wm6.5 are rather nice!
I am mainly using my p3300 for tomtom navigation and phone-function in between!
wm6.5 makes tomtom runs by far more zippy, startup is reduced, recalculating an alternative route or correcting an error is done more speedily. In addition i find the graphics somehow to be far more crisp within wm6.5!
..and thats about all i really find more positive, for my usage!
wm6.5 is terrible within changing from tomtom to an incoming call, never mind trying to start an outgoing call...
the worst though is the start menue: absolutely useless to use in any way with your fingers; you always end up opening various other porgrams trying to scroll down the list
In other words:
I would be highly appreciative if someone would cook a wm6.5 alike yues extralight: speedy, stripped, light yet functional in its basics phone and gps!

I'm wanting a clean 6.5 too, but the latest builds are too buggy. I think we M$ is in the process of altering the GUI altogether and the current builds are 'passages'. Maybe we should let M$ do its thing and come out with a build which has proper finger friendly popups rather than horrible enlarged ones of the old 6.1 popups
Other than that, I'd love to cook a clean 6.5, but the ones I cooked (23034 and 23037) are extremely slow to release! If somebody tells me what files I can delete to make it faster......

i think you are making a mistake in step 3
as far as i know kovsky is name of device(xperia)
so you shouldnt copy OEMXIPKERNEL of that
keep the files same from older builds just change the numbers

thats what i cant say for sure.
i tried to dump it with the latest ervius kitchen, i get a whole lot of output...but the kitchen seems to freeze at the end!
so to say, for me to do it quickly is the way, as i aint sure of what it is supposed to look like, never mind how i am supposed to go about it!
is there a small-stepped howto?

i have the knowhow but if the kitchen froze at "adding packages" the rom isn't dumpable....so you'll have to find another one...if you can find a rom that you want (doesn't matter if it's dumpabe) i can try to dump and cook it

[DUMP][CHEFS ONLY]Windows 7.8 (8335) SYS dump? I'm to find/build one!

Does anyone have a proper SYS dump of 8335? Most rom developers have taken the malicious step of protecting their roms (while real devs like ultrashot and mwang do not), and I am unable to obtain a proper 8335 SYS dump to create an international build of my SparkW (Verzion Trophy) rom.
This might sound like whining, but after spending hours on end trying to find a unprotected rom to nab a dump out of, I haven't been able to find one (*edit* I found one with almost everything! Just need two more languages!). I'm not going to lie, I'm incredibility disappointed in the number of rom chef's that have "popped out of nowhere" releasing Windows 7.8 roms in an apparent "money grab" while offering no real support in their roms, yet adding protections to not allow anyone to even have a look.
I don't want or need anyone's XIP or OEM, I just want to create a true SYS dump. It's bad enough the only 8335 dump I've found had almost all packages in OEM (for whatever reason), and I had to dig into it to get everything into SYS like it should have been in the first place.
So here it is, I'm releasing my repackaged 0409 (US English) SYS dump for ANYONE to use. This is the same system I use in my XevRev rom for SparkW! I don't know if it contains the font fix (I hope it doesn't, since that should be implemented via different packages to keep things neat anyway).
If anyone wants to help me out my sending me a dump (even an old mixed on one with everything in OEM for some reason) with other languages, or point me in the direction of a rom I can nab them from, I'll try to create a SYS dump for EVERYONE to use, not just those who feel privileged enough to have a dump in their possession. I want to make the best SYS dump possible, and in all my searching, still haven't found one that resembles this.
This dump is setup for use with OSBuilder. Don't ask how to cook this into a rom or install it, PLEASE. This package is intended for rom chefs.
This dump does not contain XIP drivers, as I haven't been able to obtain a dump with XIP drivers integrated (if they were updated at all since 8773).

The original 8835 came as a set of Canonical updates with full lang pack..... All the things you are trying to dump, cook, upload and download - came from ONE self-made Nokia test rom with 0409 and 0415 included.... With old XIP from mango..... And mango lang packs.... Besides - it's old and has nothing except possibility to make the tiles smaller....

I have look into your dump, and the language packs except 0409 are not in 8835 version! ... whats the difference between the SYS 7.8 pack release since one month and your dump ??

Where is this rom that people keep talking about? I simply packaged up the stuff other devs had and am released. I would rather find a pure dump, but cannot. I can't look at/find stuff people keep talking about and never link to! T_T

I have look into your dump, and the language packs except 0409 are not in 8835 version! ... whats the difference between the SYS 7.8 pack release since one month and your dump ??

I'm not trying to build a combo package! This is only what I've found, since it's been IMPOSSIBLE for me to find an original 8835 dump anywhere. I've google and searched and dug and found NOTHING in these last few weeks. Its because I missed the original release news somewhere along the line, but I cannot find an original SYS dump of 8835 anywhere (even if that dump is just some test rom as AndrewSh points out)!
I asked in several places if anyone could point me in the correct direction and was ignored, so I build these packages in an attempt to find the originals, if they exist. Lord knows that the chefs I have talked too just ignored me when I asked where they obtained their 8835 builds.
If anyone can link me to this test rom, cab updates (yeah, I doubt that's likely), or whatever it is that people got their 8835 SYS files from, that's all I want! I've exhausted the power of google to do so on my own!
I just want to create 8835 as a SYS dump, because its just silly how the chefs I've attempted to contact horde a SYS build to themselves for self-gain. If its only available with 8335 language packs in 0409 and 0415, so be it. Even if the build isn't complete... just.. whatever there is! Please help me find it!

I would love to upload and give you a link to the original 8835, but unfortunately I deleted it from my PC at the end of July. Sorry.
