Registries for CHome? - HTC Excalibur

Can someone please post an exported registry for HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CHome and HKLM\Security\CHome\DefaultSettings? It would be much appreciated in next couple of hours, thanks in advance.

Thats cool, just don't eat them all @ once

I know this is an old thread, but I have a question related to the registry. I'm going to reflash my phone after editing the pagepool... sticking with Ricky's v24 rom also. I don't want to have to go through and redo all of the customizations that I've done, and have backed up all of my icons, cpr, and bronzeres.dll files. I also exported both CHome registry portions (that Showaco originally asked for at the start of this thread).
My question is after the flash and installing all relevant apps, as well as copying over the icons, cpr, and bronzeres files... can I just use the resulting .reg files to restore all of my panels on the homescreen?

Yes, you should be able to import the registry after flashing and doing any other setup to chome(or before setup). Just to make sure, try importing before flashing to see if your .reg files are correct and working. I've had trouble using .reg files from Mobile Registry Editor and Phm registry editor, but thats just my experience. I use CERegEditor or Resco to export/import reg files now.

Thanks... I used Resco and it worked like a charm...

Can someone please post an example .reg file???

I'm trying to put together a .reg file that I can run after hard-resets which will automatically apply all of the custom reg tweaks that I usually have to perform by hand one at a time using a reg editor. After a few tries though in notepad, I think I am screwing up some formatting or something. I just can't seem to get them right so that the .reg file runs without errors.
Can someone please post an example .reg file with a couple different reg tweaks that I can then edit and add to in notepad so that I have a template to go from of how the reg entries need to be formatted within the .reg file?
Thanks!!!!!!!!!! Alex

[NEW] Kaiser HTC Home v.2.0.720719 BW and Color

OEM supplied by Schaps. This version already integrated in his last ROM.
Not like previous version, this version Profile Tab already work correctly. No need to do anything. I have use it for several days and I dont notice any notifications queue issue or wild vibrate at all.
But I do change the following:
-Installation directory change to \HTCHome instead of \Windows
-To get Brightness shortcut working, the same patch as previous version applied.
-The same patch applied to enable the Tab Setting through registry.
Other than that Nothing. Much better version than v1.5
Color version uploaded!!!!
If you are ROMcooker, download the htchome.dll for rom cooker .
Install sdkcert.cab if you have not done so.
There are about 100 pages of discussion about v1.5. Lets not repeat what have been discussed over there like: Clicking left most mail icon will take you to MMS, how to change music tab tolaunch HTC Audio Manager, and so on and so on. I dont plan to follow up closely on these thread as I think this version is very good already. Should there be any fix, change, etc please refer to the respective post.
Enjoy
Is this better than the one you had released with your kaiser skin?
Currently i am using that, is it worth me updating?
Thanks
Bennec, the one you are using is v1.5.xxxx. Very earlier and uncomplete version that has been tweaked to make it reliable enough to be used. This version is a new build with the profile tab working and additional features in the contact tab thatenable you to select what number ina contact for the speed dial. Definately worthed.
Can you post a version where the files do go in the windows directory? I want to cook this in, but not have duplicates.

you can, just use windiff on the SYS and OEM folders of your kitchen, the dump folder is created by processing these 2 folders, so any file dups will be in there BEFORE you run buildos.exe.
add you package, then run windiff ont he SYS and OEM folders, it will find the file duplicates, and delete the ones that ARE NOT from your new package!!

Maybe I should have been more clear.
When creating a rom, all files will be placed in the windows directory, if you need files in a different directory like the cab posted above you will have to use initflashfiles which just copy the files to a new folder, then you will have duplicates. I just don't want 2megs of photos in two spots.
Garphical Anomolies
@schen you need to swap some of the icons for my fixed ones!!
please Download this Original Icons Fix and add it to you package. 2 of the black and white icons (Music and People) dont react properly when you select them.
that link fixes them!! (it is not just yours, it is a common problem with all htc home plugins!!!)

Your question makes no sense then!
When you COOK this in obviously you would remove the version you already have in the ROM therefore you would not have the duplicates.
Also if you just created an package out of the cab above you will get NO initflashfiles therefore the package will install to the windows directory!!!

You still don't understand. My problem is NOT buildos failures. I don't want duplicates when the rom is complete. Any time you use a initflashfile you will have duplicates in the finished rom. That is what they are for. Again the problem is not with duplicates in the OEM and SYS. If you go back and check my posts you will see I helped you with this exact problem. I know how to create a rom!!!! What I don't know how to do is edit the dll file to redirect it to look in the windows directory for the png files. Hence why I'm posting.

Yes you do get a initflashfile that copies all the png files to HTCHome. See attached.
schen, installed & everything working fine, except for one, am unable to use the hardware navigational pad when accessing music tab, from there u can't proceed to go up, go to ff, rw or play button.
Touchscreen function (for all of the above ff, rw & play tabs) in music tab is working though.
thanks anyway.

Well then my answer to your question would be to remove the initflashfile, then everything would get installed to the windows directory and since you have no need for shortcuts, this would be fine!!!
been using this for a while and saw the new version a while ago. has option of more when u go to the 4 day detail in weather. fonts seem nicer and all. looks like a good upgrade to 1.5 Bennec83 irc bro

Just tried that. It doesn't work without the png files in the HTCHome directory. I guess we can't have everything.
The special dll for installing n Windows directory uploaded. Use that dll.
On the subject of weather plugin.
I am not sure why is there a need for a pre-configured xml file. Anyway, you need a gui to choose the city. Why not have a gui where you could enter the data which is stored on xml file. I suppose rather than sending an entire xml line when communicating with xml service, build an xml file base on the data entered via gui.
As I understand it, the DLL was just edited using a hex editor as \HTCHome and \Windows has the same number of characters, it sounds like it wasn't a decompile thing or something like that.
I'm not at home at the mo so I can't check but if you load the DLL up into a hex editor (winhex?) then replace all the \HTCHome text with \Windows, you should be good to go.
This is just my uderstanding though of what I've read in the previous....saga
Smiffy.

wow! how'd you do that?
Well he did it using the Welcome Center. I actually had this done a few days ago, after seeing it done on the Shadow. Here's how mine looks and I also attached a .cab that will let it install on your device. All you have to do to edit it so it shows your apps is go to HKLM/Security/Chome/DefaultSettings/CWelcomeCenter
p.s. I will take requests to modify the .cab to add paths to your specific applications, if you reply with the exact path to the application you want launched and the text you want it to show.
Thanks NRG.
do you mind posting the steps on how to manually change the reg keys here? so that you won't get disturbed
Here's the REG file I'm using. Edit the paths... then save it into a blank Notepad text file... rename to .reg and import it to your device's registry, using your favorite registry editor. OR... just look at it and go edit the registry yourself directly... Here it is:

Thank you for the reply NRG.
Nah... they're downloaded from the net. Hell... two of them are IPhone icons! LOL
very... very slick...
I noticed on your reg edit that you skipped "page 2", I imagine it contained previous data that you wished to leave unchanged....

Hmm when i imput the text for the programs i wanted to load, it didnt seem to save after a softreset, also it wouldnt let me import a reg file, did you have to do something special for it?
great job OP, love it.

I noticed that this is a modified version of the menu that I created for the T-Mobile Shadow (http://freddyreyes.com/forums/index.php?topic=285.0)
The only difference is that you added DefaultSettings\CWelcomeCenter to the registry path. In the Shadow you don't need that...interesting.
I may be able to port all the customizations that I created to the new wm6.1 interface.

You can also use the HKLM/Security/Chome/DefaultSettings/Settings. In fact you can duplicate the Settings to some other name and change the contents of both Settings and the new one accordingly.
Change Clock Font
Here's another tip. Copy \Windows\CHome_240x320.cpr to pc. Modify it to your hearts content, fontsize, fontstyle, etc, etc. I changed my clock face to digital, moved the date position, moved the wi-fi position and reduce the pane size smaller (take a look at my avatar).
Should you messed up this file, simply delete i from your device on \Windows. The original will be restored since it is in ROM
Hope this helps. But I really appreciate anyone who can add ElecontWeather to the clock's pane
Thanks

You're right. Only difference is... I didn't work with "CLinks3", like you did it. So I had to use the WelcomeCenter which is kind of useless anyway. Kavana did it with the Settings plugin... I guess there's several ways to do it.

Yeah, Kavana already release a utility that does it for you. I released a .cab that did it, a while ago.. The "JavoZ" cab. Also, rickwyatt included that utility in his latest ROMs.

WelcomeCenter Error!

Hi.
After I upgraded my T-Mobile Dash from WM6.0 to Kavana's latest WM6.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=374890), I can't use "Getting Started icon (WelcomeCenter.exe)."
When I try to run it, it shows an error "PlatformNotSupportedException."
Does anyone know how to fix it?
Thanks.

I don't think you need it, best bet, install chome configurator and hide that panel. If you need to remove the icon from start menu, you should be able to go to \windows\start menu and delete the link.

thanks, i couldn't remember the reg entry for hiding it.
Thanks. I will just remove it and use CHome.
However, it is strange why "Kavana (someone's nickname, right?)" included "WelcomeCenter/Getting Started" in his/her Dash ROM update that will not work on Dash.
By the way, for CHome, there are many files. Two .cab files and three .zip files. I know what "CHomeConfig.cab" is, but what are "IconPack" and "Ricky ROM" for?

ChomeConfig does not work on my Dash. It shows the same error as WelcomeCenter.
I wonder why.
My guess is that the locale is not English, would it cause this problem?

Rickys rom is another 6.1 rom like kavana's. The iconpack is probably(I'm guessing since I don't know where you found it) the iconpack for chome configurator so you have more options to choose from for the custom icons. And I believe that welcome center works on dash, kavana might have just removed or moved some files that it is looking for.

The CPR is located in windows directory of your phone. If you are using WM6.5 by Ookba then you have to edit the file name : Titanium_320x240.cpr. Find this file pn your phone, then copy it to PC, where you can use notepad to edit the file. Once done, you need to copy it back to phone.

No.. you don't edit your Titanium 320x240.cpr to "file name.cpr" You have to edit the content of the cpr. Please refer to the link on my previous post.

If you are no longer using the font you can rename the extention with Total Commander or Resco Explorer eg: font.ttf to font.bak then restart phone and delete it.
