Opera Mobile "Out of Memory" - P3300, MDA Compact III Accessories

Hi there,
I have a little problem, when I use Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta.
After a short time i get the errormessage "out of memory".
I don't know why - Because of the programmemory? Can i move this space from internal memory to my sd-card?

Hello,
i have tried too this beta version, and ocurred the same problem.
You can try to change the cache directory, making this :
After all, create a directry in your storage card like /Storage card/cache/
In the task bar of opera type opera:config
then go User Prefs
change the Cache Directory4 adress to the one on your storage card
But for me it doesn't work well.
I have a stable version of opera 9.5 with some writing bug but no problem of memories.
Try it !

[MADE IT BIG] Shamanix 3.54 SUPERSTORAGE [Based on Schap`s]

After PAPPL asked me to make a SuperStorage ROM of my last ROM that I released, I wanted to give it a try and finally made it!!!
Successfully melted Ext. ROM!!!
Everything stayed the same except free storage space, now there is 72Mb FREE and it is still based on Schap`s ROM
If you want more info about the ROM visit the link to my original 3.54 release..
Mind you.. I just melted this ROM so I did not test the stability, but it seems very fast!!!
DOWNLOAD:
Shamanix 3.54 SuperStorage 4Mb PagePool - RapidShare
Shamanix 3.54 SuperStorage 6Mb PagePool - RapidShare
To download the addons, just click on the list ( picture ) above
Excellent news!!!!
Now downloading... report soon ....
Thank you!!!!
I don`t know how is it possible and what went wrong, but MMS account is not present..
Will do some research...
EDIT: False alert.. it is present but it create itself when you enter messaging or something like that...
I tried to access it via HTC Home for the first time and it wasn`t present, then I unplugged it from PC and entered messaging and saw MMS account was there..
This makes no sense, but hell.. it is there now...
Al the moment, this is the best ROM for me.
Everything work fine like your previous ROM.
Congratulation!!
Very good work, I will keep for a while.
Thank you Shamanix!.
This seems to be the best ROM for Hermes for now.
Many thanks to shamanix!
Great work, Shamanix!!! Congrats!
Olioaglio
Shamanix,
Great work! I think you are the first to make bigstorage without using bepe's 3.60 rom. Could you tell us how you were able to do it?
Ross
Thanks guys! I appreciate it!
megarek, I think you are wrong.. I am not the first one to create big storage ROM other then 3.60 since mattk_r did it on his 3.57 ROM and edhaas did it on his Super D-Lite ( originally Dopod ROM )
PAPPL asked me already how is it done, so I did a quick search on the forum and collected some links where bepe explaned how is it done..

IE and the "Empty History"...
I have a little issue:
Every time I launch Internet Explorer, the "History" go back to empty.
I store temporary Internet File in the "\Storage Card\Pocket IE".
I already try to change "Save links to page visited in the past" to 10, 20 or 40 days, is the same... always go back to empty.
Anyone have the same issue?
Any idea to fix?
Thank in advance.
How much free RAM is there after Install? Im downloading now to try out. Looks great from what i can see!

I have the same issue over here ( storing temp IE files on storage card too ), I never looking in the history before with any of my ROMs since it remember URLs in the address bar, but I would like to know if that issue is present in Schaps original 3.54 ROM and my remake of his ROM or it is a new issue that came along with melting ?

Is working in Schap's 3.54c and in your last ROM 3.54Fix was working perfect! I was using... It is strange...
Regards.
PIE Hostrory really working with your previous ROM.
Do you really think it's because of melting? Does PIE store History in Ext-ROM usually? I don't think so, do you?
Maybe you removed a file which doen't look like to having something in common with PIE.
In Start/Programs i found a folder called Accessoires, which is empty. I this folder necessary for some cab-installs?
I didn`t remove any of the files compared to my last release.. Everything is the same..
PIE has nothing to do with ExtROM, thats why this is so confusing..
I suspect there was an error in the process of building or extracting.. I have no clue what else could go wrong...
So I did a rebuild ( again, everything is identical, no files ware touched ) and here is the BETA of revision 1.1 for you to test if the issue is still present..
Accessories folder is empty because I deleted BT Explorer that was there and I like the Accessories folder icon so I left it there because I usually move the shortcuts in there of some 3rd party application that I install afterwards..
Here is the link of the rev.1.1

I Flashed this new ROM and the issue persist, so, I flashed back to your ROM 3.54 FIX and the problem was already present, so flashed back to Schap's 3.54c Lite and also introduce this bug, but in all cases it is only with "/Storage Card".
I apologize for having said earlier that working with your ROM above, surely I have a lot of confusion by flashing so often.
Thank you.
Hi, I do have this shamanix ROM installed and i do have entries in PIE history, and I do always have a 2GB microSD inserted.
I put this setting for store History in default place and the rest in Memory Card and it works fine.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]
"History"="\\Windows\\Profiles\\guest\\History"
"Cookies"="\\Storage Card\\Pocket IE\\Cookies"
"Cache"="\\Storage Card\\Pocket IE\\Temporary Internet Files"
Nice find... So there must be two "\" slashes to make it work...

Just a word of warning, it's better to keep the single slash in the path for the IE cache. The double slashes will cause Schap's Advanced Configuration tool (built into this ROM) to crash when you try to exit.
Otherwise, things seem to be going well for this ROM other than that butt ugly and useless standard calculator. Whoever wrote that thing for M$ has absolutely no concept of UI. I have yet to find a good *free* scientific calculator that had buttons large enough to use with your fingers. Seems like a no-brainer to me. Maybe 1-Calc should licence their product to M$.

Kavana WM6.1, Esmertec JBed, and Opera Mini: A Complete Solution

Hello everybody,
I've figured a few things out regarding JBed and Opera Mini on Kavana's latest WM6.1 ROM, and I thought I'd share them with you.
Introduction
First off, a quick introduction: Opera Mini 4, a Java MIDlet web browser, is arguably the best browser available for Windows Mobile. It routes traffic through Opera servers, so it doesn't take as much data (or time) to browse the Web, and it has small-screen rendering like iPhone's. Slashdot, for example, loads in seconds under OM, as opposed to half an hour in Pocket IE. Esmertec JBed respects the system's network settings, so it works with the T-Zones $5.99 internet trick.
JBed isn't perfect, though. It has a few glaring issues: network access permissions, inability to use a MIDlet as a systemwide default browser, and ugly fonts. I haven't figured out the last one yet, but the first two are solvable, and here's how.
Network Access Permissions
Most tutorials for fixing this problem refer to the file \Windows\AppDB\Selector.utf; editing this file and replacing the text
Code:
domain=untrusted, \
with
Code:
domain=tckmax , \
fixes the problem under Cloudyfa's JBed. The version of JBed in Kavana's WM6.1 stores its data in \Application Data\JavaDB, and the selector.utf trick doesn't work. The culprit is a missing file named policy.utf, which defines tckmax. I've attached a copy of this file; just move it to your \Application Data\JavaDB directory and the selector.utf trick will work as usual.
Systemwide Default Browser
First off, you can make it easier to access Opera Mini by changing the short_IE.lnk file to open OM instead of PIE. I've attached a version of that file for your convenience; copy it to your \Windows directory and the IE (or T-Zones) button will open a usable browser for a change. This only works if OM is the first MIDlet you've installed; if you have installed other MIDlets you'll have to edit the shortcut (Notepad works nicely) to reflect the change. If OM is your second MIDlet, change s0_ to s1_; third, s2_; and so on.
Also, various MortScript scripts have been floating around that attempt to automate the process of copying a clicked link to the system clipboard, opening OM, and pasting the link into the address bar. I haven't found one that works, but a much better solution is available. The linked post contains a CAB file (which I've reposted here for convenience) that installs an actual application that works well under WM6.1. This one is hardcoded with the assumption that Opera Mini is the first MIDlet that you've installed.
One Other Thing
I recommend backing up your \Application Data\JavaDB directory once you get everything working; you can simply copy it back from your backup after a cold boot to get everything working again. I don't know how to make a CAB file myself, but if someone is up to the challenge, I'd suggest making a single file that installs Opera Mini and the Opera Mini Default Browser application, and optionally replaces the PIE button with OM. Or maybe Kavana can add this to his next ROM
Hope you find this useful!
EDIT: The application I've attached only works if Opera Mini is the first application ever installed under JBed. If you uninstall it and reinstall it, it will get a new suite number. You can look at your selector.utf file and figure out your suite number (e.g., s1_), but I would recommend clearing out your \Application Data\JavaDB folder to reset your suite numbers. Also, it may be a bad idea to edit your selector.utf file in Notepad; a hex editor should avoid corruption issues.
~truggl
awesome! thanks!
very useful, thanks!
Great Job!!
How do you tell what the s number is for the OM midlet?
When I press the short key cut key I get a "Could not find suite s0_" error message. When I dismiss the message I get the jbed midlet manager window which list Opera Mini and it's the only applet listed. I click on that and Opera Mini opens up.
Perfect, the policy.utf file did the trick. I'm not so sure that I want to replace the iexplore shortcut to OM because there are still some limits to the OM applet over PIE. OM can't launch youtube for example.
Thank you ... thank you - Tim

Kinda bummed.... I cant seem to get this to work. Everytime I edit selector.utf with the new code, my opera midlet dissappears. I have policy.utf in the directory so I am at a loss. ???
Works great on my system - many thanks for this!

I had the same problem. I was using notepad to edit selector.utf which I guess is bad. Try using a hex editor or run this script. http://treo.discussion.treocentral.com/tcforum/showthread.php?t=152078

Yes, it will depend on how many java programs you installed before so that you can get an accurate count.

Opera is the only java app that I have installed and I still get the error, however, I have installed and uninstalled a few times... so I think there may be .db remnants that force it further down the "install list" e.g. s2_
edit: just had to clean up \\application data\javaDB, works fine
Hi all,
Glad I was able to help. I added a bit of information to my original post; I recommend starting with a blank slate, so to speak, because OperaDefault.cab is programmed with that assumption. When in doubt about your suite number, and if you don't care about OperaDefault, then you can look in (or post) your selector.utf file and get it from there.

Esmertec jbed
Can someone point me to forum where i can get esmertec jbed?
I'm looking for a couple of hours already.
Please help....
Having a very strange problem with Opera Mini 4. I'm using Ricky's Rom V5 with my Dash and Opera will not display fonts correctly. They all seem to have horizontal lines going through them and appear to be slightly stretched (that could be my imagination though). I checked the Jbed version and it appears to be the latest one (I never changed it) and I'm not sure where to go from here. Opera boots and runs fast but it's not legible at all. Any suggestions as to what I can try? I searched XDA but couldn't come up with anything. Thanks,

NOT TRUE.
I tried to use from s0_ to s4_, nothing worked....
Untill i opened my selector.utf(windows\appdb) and seen that gMail is "root=s-1_", so i've change my shortcut to point to "s-1_", this did the trick.
Thanx.

Change Opera in manila 2D to Opera mini or anything

hey.
i just figured this out.after i searched in the forum.
if you want to change the opera in internet tab to opera mini or any browser you want follow these instruction
first you have to download VJBrisk
then copy the program from where you installed it.. [the default in the Program Files\vijay555\VJBrisk]
then rename the copy you made with the application you want [ if you want to change opera .. rename it OperaL.exe]
make a shortcut of your application and rename it to VJTarget.lnk.
then copy both of files to windows directory
this should work for everything in manila.
i tried it with the opera mini and works
Cheers
Thanks for your Post! Works perfectly

iGo8 on Dutty's R4 Muchos.

I had before the Dutty's ROM the stock ROM and iGo8 worked fine with the stock ROM. Yesterday I flashed my HTC Touch HD to the Dutty's WM6.5 R4 Muchos and iGo8 is giving me every time a error:
"Program application database cannot be found. Please insert original application SD card".
I also tryed with the AUTORUN to install it on the internal memmory but shows me the same error message.
Might there be a solution to this?
Greetz,
Roy
EDIT:
Stupid stupid stupid.
Forgot to change the SYS.txt
[folders]
app="Storage Card/iGo8"
The path was all wrong.
Sorry for this all nonsense post.
anyway of setting up IG08 to run from device but store files in storage card??
personally, i installed TomTom and iGo to my microSD so i never have to reinstall after ROM flashing. i simply copy a short-cut to the start menu and i'm up and running with no issues. both applications run fine from the microSD card.
and why would you want to do that?
Problem to keyboard of igo 8
With this rom do not work the keyboard of igo8 for put the city because there is the caracter a on the string, so j do not coud put the name of the city.
Samebody know the cause.
Thanks
The answear of this problem is in Dutty's 3.9 Turbo thread! Search in the thread for "igo8" and you will find the things you must Add in SYS.TXT to clear the symbol!

Opera mobile strange bug with download folder in new 6.5 ROM

I have Opera Mobile 9.5 build 17518 in my official 6.5 Rom (WWE Europe, english lang). When i try to download something (for example i click "save" for .pdf or .cab file), opera sometimes crashes, and if not, my download location is set to folder like "□c□□c" or "□□c□□□□□□r□□t□-□c" or "□□c□□□c□" and similar. These folders are automatically created under "My Documents". I tried to change default download location in opera.ini but this doesnt work. Please help, where can be problem
I have exactly the same problem. Every time I try to download something and click "Save" it creates a folder in "My Documents" with strange characters in it, probably meant to say "Received from <website url>" but some of the characters are non-standard so they don't display correctly.
A lot of the time it doesn't get to the save to location screen. Possibly this is because it's trying to create another folder with a name the WM API doesn't like or possibly it's because it's trying to display the strange folder names and dying. Anyhow, it crashes.
I have to keep deleting the strange folders.
Whatever the reason, most of the time I cannot save files with Opera mobile in my new TP2 WWE 6.5 HTC ROM.
