Long-time lurker, first-time poster.
I picked up a S620 a few months ago, and finally upgraded it to the official WM6 ROM linked in the sticky (1.33.422.1) a few weeks ago. (I couldn't do it until I found the USPL.bat file - thanks to the author!)
I've installed Blackberry Connect 4, and it's working fine, except for the fact that my corporate BES IT Policy insists on locking the device after five minutes of inactivity. "Annoying" is an understatement.
I found some directions on how to bypass it at the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=336355
but that method uses Memmaid. I downloaded it, but it won't work on WM6 standard. I tried Task Manager from Fdcsoft, but that won't do it, and the interface doesn't really work on WM6. I also grabbed SK tools, but that won't seem to let me stop the service. What can I use that will let me do this? I'd prefer free, but I'm willing to pay for something that works well.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the pointer - it's a good program, but it doesn't quite do what I need. It stops tasks and processes, but it looks like what I need to do is stop a statup service. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Thanks - that's helpful, and I see how to disable them, but I've figured out that what I really need to be able to do is to stop a service, and also set it from manual to Automatic. The service needs to start when the main Blackberry Connect service starts, but then it needs to be shut down after each reset.
So how can i stop it after it's already running?

I am posting this again as my earlier message has been deleted (by accident, of course)
Occasionally when I want to activate bluetooth by clicking on the
system tray (bluetooth settings icon), it takes about 30-40 seconds
for it to come up. I am not sure why.
This problem is inherited to PZP and PBT as well.
Plus I have some problems with PZP and PBT, so I want to avoid them.
Anyone has a simple application that can turn BT off/on toggle?
Some small EXE will do. Appreciate if you can share this with us.
Bluetooth Tools is probably the app you're looking for.
If you do a search you'll find a link to it in here.
Cheers
Anthony
As I said, I am trying to avoid PBT (POCKET BLUETOOTH TOOLS) due to its problems as highlighted in previous discussions.
i hope someone has a simple EXE to switch BT on/OFF
hey mate,
if you're using tdlaunch or an app which allows you to put shortcuts on your today screen; then you can use this...see attached. it's the link to the bluetooth app of the pocket pc; it's still the same app as the one on the bt icon opens but it might work faster for you as compared to clicking the one on the tray. hope that helps.
cheers
rob
Thanks Rob, but unfortunately the delay of 30-40 seconds is still there even when I use your link.
I am still puzzled by this delay.
I have exactly the same problem on my m-1000, I have tried three different ROMs, and it still occasionally takes a while before the blueotth screen pops up. It is really annoying as it is not another piece of software causing it, as I have tried a hard reset and used it with no other software installed and it still kept hanging for 30 seconds or so. If anyone can find the cure I will make a hefty donation to this site as this problem is really irritating!!!
Bluetooth Toggles
Exclusive order is ready!
PM me when it stops working e.g. trial expiration
Bind with hotkeys to achieve fastest speed (Settings->Butons)
I can't seem to get it to work Winhex.
Actually I installed the program 2 days ago but
I forgot to try it (a phone call came in just after I installed
it and I forgotten about it altogether).
Is it because it's expired? How long is the trial period anyway?
Sorry I could not test it for you.
BTW why did you put an expiration trial?
Are you going to sell it?
After findus has made his/her 'hefty donation', would you
make it available for all of us for free?
Cheers
I haven't tested it yet either, will do this weekend unless the expiration date has been and gone. Thank you for your hard work in advance though. Out of interest, I take it you intend to sell this software after it has been tested- how much were you thinking of?
John Smith - I said I would make a donation to this site - I have been a member for a couple of months now and I haven't donated yet, so I thought it would be a good opportunity. If the person who has spent time designing their own application wants to charge for it, then that is their right surely! I know we would all rather have things for free, as there is a load of free useful software on this site, but still...!
So I have a Tmobile Dash/HTC S620 and as this is a work project to compare PDAs for our org, I planned to unlock it so that I could try various services with it and do a good comparison for my boss.
I went out to http://www.gsmliberty.net/shop/tmobile-dash-unlock-p-1313.html and bought the $40 dollar unlock code, downloaded Dashv2Unlock.exe, followed their instructions and now I get a bloody error saying: "A monitor program prevents this application from execution. Stop the monitor program and try again"
I'm pretty well pissed off with it at this point, given that I just wasted half a day on this process and haven't fixed it. A quick run down on what I did to troubleshoot it:
1. kill symantec corp auto-protect
2. check permissions
3. run Process Monitor on it (see sysinternals.com) and came up with nothing.
4. killed every living bloody process I could get away leaving active sync working with using Process Explorer (again see sysinternals.com).
5. uninstalled & reinstalled activesync.
6. tried it on a different computer.
7. tried it on yet another computer that's not related to work.
and more, and more.
I'd like to note that after looking at the program, and looking at the signatures, gsmliberty.net didn't even write the program . It's orginally from http://www.imei-check.co.uk/dashunlock.php which I also downloaded and tried (hoping for a different version that would fix it).
My question is this:
has anyone else run into this problem? What's the deal here?
Thanks,
Rich
I posted the CSV from ProcMon and the orginal screeshot that shows the error as well as how far I trimmed the processes at one point.
So it turns out...
I went back and forth with gsmliberty and finally gave up with them.
http://www.imei-check.co.uk on the other hand was extremely helpful and after playing email tag we finally figured out that Active sync 4.5 is the problem. Use Activesync 4.2 not 4.5 and you'll be fine.
Rich
that's weird because I did my s620 last night with activesync 4.5 with gsmliberty. Also if people are trying to put the tmobile dash wm6 firmware on the oem htc s620 you have to follow the instructions in the official wm6 released thread. DONT USE the unlocker program that came with the gsm liberty file. You need to use the unlock program from IMEICHECK. Nothing bad will happen, it's just when you hexedit everything, it's being hex edited for the dashv2unlock.exe from IMEICHECK, not GSMLiberty. You UNL file will work with either or.
WM6 running here np.
I am running WM6 and purchased the unlock program and code from IMEICHECK about a month ago. Worked fine with WM5. Now I get the same errors as you. Are you saying that I need to purchase the same thing from GSM Locker? I still have my unlock code. Can't I just download the unlock program from somewhere?
I've been using Jeyo Mobile Companion for a while now: http://www.jeyo.com/companion.asp
It's great, you can SMS from your PC with it, manage your contacts (SIM or memory), use it as a task-manager, device screenshots, etc... Very useful program, but, doesn't work with Vista/WM6. Emails to support go unanswered (for months now) and they don't respond to users in their forums.
Does anyone know of something similar that works with WM6/Vista...? Thanks!
JMC works with WM6/Vista.
There is a work-around to make it work though. You have to go into the menu that says 'Install cab file', and then it opens up the browse window. Once in that window, click the network icon on the bottom in the left hand frame. You will see a message at the bottom saying 'Starting Device Agent' and as long as you are connected to your device via Windows Mobile Center, you will see stuff like you used to.
Edit: I see you have already registered and posted on their forums about v2.0. Does this workaround not work for you? It works OK for me.
It worked for WM5/Vista, but doesn't work for WM6/Vista.

Dude, chill out. I was trying to help and not say that 'it works for me so screw you'. My point was that since it's working for me, perhaps you could look into your non-working config a bit more to see if you can fix it. That's all. You said it doesn't work with WM6 & Vista and I corrected you. That's all.
Sheesh. Can't even help anyone these days without being dumped on.
I think its better to try and contact the developers. If the Network workaround doesn't work, then I am not sure anything will.
Really, I was (am) happy for you. It's just one of a few Dash-frustrations I've encountered since upgrading to WM6. Not sure why mine won't work. At one point, I was able to get it working by manually copying the file over that JMC uses on the device, and then manually running it on the device. Jeyo support doesn't respond, and I think they've all but abandoned their spam-ridden forums. Have given up for now, hope they come out with an update, it's a great product.

As mentioned already, the Jeyo team is incredibly unresponsive. They are possibly the worst software development team that develops great software. It's almost like the engineers are also the CSRs who have no regard for customer service.
There forums are being spammed constantly by spambots advertising p0rn. It's ridiculous.

Windows vista ultimate vs wm5.
Network trick works!
I read it on a thread (I WISH I could remember where so credit could be given where due)... but the solution worked like a charm.
I have a Dash running WM6 on T-Mob. Since the launch of GMM2 Ive been both excited and terribly disappointed that I couldn't get it to work. However... the solution is simple: get "appunlock" (from surreal networks) and install. Then reboot.
That's it. After I did this, my location showed IMMEDIATELY on the GMM app as a happy little blue dot. YAY!!!
Happy locating everyone!!!
Thank you so much for the tip. I used the APP unloked on my S621 and MyLocation feature works now.
Where you been?

Um honestly where have you been? It's been known for quite a while that you can get MANY smartphone apps to work on the dash by simply app unlocking it. I'd suggest hunting around first before posting because you're dishing old info...
yeh you haven't app unlocked your phone yet?? wtf
You guys are butts. I don't even know what "MyLocation" is or what it's for, but I have app unlocked my phone and performed many tweaks. That's why we come to this site--to learn new things!
App Unlock for GMM
Okay, my HTC S621 also says 'location is temporarily unavailable' Since I've had the phone I've upgraded it to Rogers WM6 (although I'm with Suncom), I've installed numerous applications like Google Maps, Microsoft Voice Command, TCPMP + plugins, Palringo, Fring, etc. I did have to use the methods mentioned on this site to temporarily lift the CID lock to install WM6.
But I'm thinking that this would that mean that my phone isn't application locked. Or does the application unlock, do something else. It seems to me that since I can pretty much install anything I'd like, that my phone is not application locked, and therefore this GMM proposed fix isn't really a fix.
I look forward to your responses.
Thank you,
Tim
just tryin' to lend a hand...
Im no expert.... clearly. However, Ive never had to appunlock my phone to install or run the software I have added to my Dash. Ive had it for well over a year and the "My Location" feature of GMM is the only thing Ive run across (that I have any need for) that has required appunlock to work. Old news or not... since GMM2 has been released nearly all (I'd say 5 out of 6) of the postings about it that are associated with the Dash say that while the mapping software worked fine, the "My Location" feature did not. It always and immediately (without attempting to connect tot he network) gave a "You location is temporarily unavailable" message. Since adding appunlock the feature now works as it was designed. My intention isnt to waste your time with 'old news' (if you already know it); It's simply to help others out there like me who just want the program to work and are looking for a solution. If you already have it working, why bother reading this thread?
Just trying to help a brotha out, you know? :-D
My S621 was app unlocked. I've installed many unsigned apps, including GMM2.0, but the MyLocation feature didn't work. I just ran the surreal appunlock, and now it works!
Weird, no idea why it works, but it does...
as I understand it, appunlock makes a few registry edits that allow your device to run 'non-microsoft-certified' programs. Ive added a number of other programs without issue (just as you are saying), so I was a bit surprised that this solution would be necessary...nonetheless, it worked, and was an easy fix. Hope it works for you too!

Same with my phone. It was already app unlocked but the Sureal Network app is the only one that work on to get My Location working.
You were correct!
Apparently the appunlock cab file does something to the settings. Because now it works just fine! It zoomed to within 1700 meters or so from my house. If anything it'll at least get you in the vicinity of where you're at.
This really makes the Google Maps worthwhile having on your phone, even if you do lack GPS.
I just want to say thanks to whoever started this thread because I HAD Google Maps, but was not aware that there was an update! I already had the Surreal Networks AppUnlock, so when I upgraded to GMM 2, (which I discovered after reading this thread), I was able to see "My Location." It's great! Thanks to those of you who know who you are!

My comment wasn't a "hey retard nur nur" but it was a response to your apparent "fix" to get GMM to work. I was simply stating that app unlocking your phone is your answer to many installation and functionality issues. Sorry if i came off as abrasive but it wasn't meant as strong as it appeared. Let me reiterate: "App unlocking isn't just the answer to get mylocation on gmm working, it's your answer to many of your installation issues" there problem solved..
No Prob. And likewise, I appreciate your clarification. :-D
Now... if only we could start digging into/toying with the 'upcoming' WM6.1...
I just unlocked my phone and all but my location is still not working. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Did you use Surreal Networks AppUnlock program?
Are you somewhere with a decent signal? It won't work if you're in the Boonies!
Yes I have three bars on my cell phone, and I do not see why it would not work? Any suggestions?
Yeah i also have no luck with the my location feature, i used the appunlock from surreal, I have four bars and am on the Edge network right now, but it always says that my location is unavailable...
doesn't work on my cavalier either
not working
be sure to reboot your phone after the appunlock and then 're-set" GMM2. I believe you go to "Menu/Options/Reset Google Maps".
That should work. beyond that, unfortunately, I would have to suggest going to one of the Google community forums, but I really didnt find much there when I looked.
Good Luck!
From what I've gathered reading about the GPS problems on XV6900's with Verizon....you might need to know the history of my ROM's.
1. I got the phone brand new 3 weeks ago and of course it came with 6.0 out of the box.
2. I installed the newest Verizon 6.1 ROM w/ radio 3.37.78
3. I then installed NFSFAN's 6.5 v7 ROM
4. I installed "NFSFAN Verizon GPS Registry.cab"
So for starters my GPS does not ever connect. I don't even know where to start. I've been searching and reading on here for 4 hours this morning and about 5 hours before bed last night. I just got really confused. Lots of what I found was regarding an older Verizon 6.1 update, so I'm not sure any of that was applicable to me. Please point me in the right direction so I can start using Google Maps. Thanks in advance!
Now Pandora.....I have installed the pandora app that I found in the NSFFAN's 6.5 FAQ thread. Well it installed fine, but when it asks for my email and password there is no where to input them. The screen is just solid blue and at the bottom says "Back" and "Sign In". I changed my hardware button to bring up a keyboard thinking that might help, but no such luck. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it once already. Once again thanks in advance!

Alright, I realize it sucks when there is a new thread every week about this, but there is also a ton of old information on this site and it makes finding an answer very hard and even when I think I know what to do I look at the thread date and it's over a year old....and thus refering to an old Verizon ROM. Obviously the answer in on this site somewhere I just need someone to point me to the most recent solution that also correlates with my ROM history and problem. If I have to I'll paypal someone $5 if they can get my GPS working.
I haven't seen anyone have the problem I'm having with Pandora. Has anyone had this issue? Am I actually alone on this one? Are there any other native Pandora program options?

For the first time you open pandora,
open the keyboard before you open pandora,
it should stay open.
it's a problem with pandora itself.
also it seems to not be working correctly with 6.5 as of right now.
I put it on there for others to test for me,
but everyone is reporting it is a no go.
:/
hopefully pandora will release a update asap.
Also, gps issue,
verizon is blocking ip's or something like that,
therefore everything people are doing to make gps work,
is more of a work around.
And I'm sure verizon will figure out a way to counteract those as they are crafty son's of b*tches when it comes to people unlocking stuff they want locked down.
