How to add Windows live, and Messenger on Today's Screen?

Dear all,
I just install lvsw wm6 rom, and currently im trying to installl windows live and windows live messenger on to wm6..however I didnt see the live search bar like many other wm6 does as well as the messneger..
how do i have it on today's screen?
many thanks
Mike
It's actually pretty easy (and simple to overlook sometimes). Just start Live Messenger and set it up. Once it's set up and you're logged in, It'll show up on the Today screen.
TaurusBullba...many thanks for your great help!
I have the today plugin!
Thanks again
Mike
Today Screen Search Bar not on Today Screen
Today Screen Search Bar not on Today Screen - and not listed in the control panel's settings for Today Screen either. I have also installed Windows Live mobile. Can anyone help me get the search bar back onto the today screen?
Windows Live Confusion Resolved
- "Windows Live" Confusion Resolved:
1. The file you attached (windows live mobile, search for "Windows Live Mobile.zip") did contain the application that would allow you to have the very thin search bar on the today screen. It puts a "Windows Live" icon on your applications menu(/screen).
2. Microsoft Live Search ("LiveSearch.cab") is a FANTASTIC application. It puts a "Live Search" icon on your applications menu(/screen). It has these small but very powerful applications built into it: Categories, Map, Directios, Traffic, Movies, and Gas Prices. For example for "Gas Prices", that tells you where you can find gas the cheapest - near where you live!

Separate today screen google search bar cab?

hi
I found cab for windows live app, is there one strictly for todat screen search bar w/ google enabled?
thanks!
Not that I know of. You need to install the whole shebang.
You get direct push hotmail too which is pretty damn cool tho....
thanks, Sleuth,...and for all your innovations!

Search bar on today screen?

I had WM6 (an unofficial version) on my 8525 somehow, and then got the official version from HTC. When I have the unofficial version there was a very useful Today Screen plugin that took up very little space - just enough room to type something for doing a search. Where can I get that plug-in? Does it ring a bell with anyone?
The Live search, you mean? If so, download the latest WindowsLive cab and you'll have it again mate.
[rummages around hard drive]
Et voila.
Live Search does not have the today plugin
Live Search does not have the Today Screen plugin, it is just a separate application.
Look for SearchToday or LiveSearch.

if you are talking about an internet search plugin there is one on triangle powers website
Today Screen Search Bar
I tried the one from the triangle powers website, it is huge and takes up too much space on the screen. There is another one I found that is configurable and takes up less room, called searchtoday - here is the link -
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/searchtoday.shtml
its part of windows live with messenger and all that.
There is an option for the search bar on today screen. Also, read the wiki for the registry hack to make it use google instead of msn.

menu>options>today screen options
check the box for the search bar
Quick question.
Can't the files as they are...... .cab be altered to have google by default so that those of us who are scared to death of the registry, can have it work as google?
Just the idea of changing the registry by hand makes me winded and dizzy.

another missing app navigate?

navigate seems to work if i goto google voice search and say navigate to.. xxx.
it appears to work but i cannot find a navigate icon to goto it directly and there does not seem to be an option from google maps.. just directions..
any ideas?
after i upgraded google maps i magically got the navigate icon.. hopefully this helps others.
it's not magically...if u read the changelog that icon is added in the latest update.
its magic in the sense that the functionality was there in the program as evident if you voice search "navigate to xxx" but there was no way to directly execute it with an icon or option that i could find.

if u say so....i can't call it magic when it's written there so obviously on the changelog.

WP7 Maps direction and searching in New Zealand

There is a little bug with the Maps app if your System locale and Browser & search language are set to English (New Zealand) in the phone region settings.
If you go into the Maps app and hit the search key, it will bring up Bing search, and you also have no way to use the directions feature.
Temporary workaround seems to be to set the system locale and browser and search language to English (Australia), and click the button to save settings and reboot the phone. After reboot, you should be able to search for destinations directly within Maps.
