Live Messenger for Samsung Epix i907 - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I use unlocked version of epix i907 on tmobile.
The live messenger client on i907 won't work, and it seems that the messenger program is tied to at&t text messaging, so it won't work with wifi connection or data plan.
It would be great if somebody would help me with a working live messenger for epix i907.
I tried both 10.6.0034.2500 and 10.6.0034.0800 files from this forum, both doesn't start at all, with me installing it after hard reset.

Same thing here. Has anybody had any luck?

After playing around with this for a while it looks like "Windows Live 10.6.0034.0800 (Fixed).zip" CAB from the Windows Live Messenger thread does not include the 128 DPI resource DLLs needed for the 320x320 Epix.
Fortunately, the Treo Pro has the same 320x320 dimensions and the ROM image ships with WLM version 10.6.0034.0800 so the 128 DPI files were there.
To get this working I installed the CAB from "Windows Live 10.6.0034.0800 (Fixed).zip" and then manually copied the Treo Pro 128 DPI files to the Windows directory.
I did get a series of security messages for each DLL asking me if I trusted the DLLs.
Now I'm new to all this jigger-pokery (this is my first post) so there was probably something I could have done to build the DLLs into a new CAB, but once I accepted the dialogs for each file, things seemed to work fine.
Here are the 128 DPI resource DLLs:

can you guys help me to get to the windows directory epix

your going to have to unhide the protected operating system files on the host computer to get to it, or use something such as total commander.

WM6 Internet Explorer to WM5

Hi all,
Someone succesfully extracted and ported the excellent Windows Mobile 6.0 Remote Desktop Mobile into a CAB which installs and works on a Windows Mobile 5.0 device.
Now the question is: did someone every manage to do the same magic with the Internet Explorer (which has high resolution mode) of WM6?
I've played with the T-Mobile Ameo on the CeBIT and was surprised to see that the Ameo's Internet Explorer (Windows Mobile 5.0 AKU 3.3) had a high resolution mode.
Is it somehow possible to port that to the Universal's Windows Mobile 5.0 IE?
Well i know that Ivan ported it to his AKU3.5 tests - definitely had the hi-res mode in there, but i can't get hold of these any more - desparate to get them if anyone can help please
I think the best solution - if possible that is - would be a CAB that OVERWRITES the standard IE with the one that supports high res browsing. Or a CAB that just adds the feature.
Overwriting would be neccessary, because it otherwise wouldn't be possible to launch the IE by pressing the IE hardware button (since you can't assign another program to that button).

WM6 Email Client on WM5

Hi!
I have a Dell Axim x50v (VGA device) running WM5 AKU 2.3, and would really want to have HTML support for email, since WM5 email client doesn't support it. I don't want to download any extra third-party application like Flexmail, but rather would like to know if there is some kind of a plugin for this native email client that allows HTML support.... I heard of WM6 and it's richer email client. Is there any way you can install WM6 email client on a windows mobile 5 device like mine? If not, is there any WM6 ROM that will work on my PDA? (Other things like viewing Internet Explorer Mobile in high resolution mode, or the new "calendar ribbon" would also be a worthy upgrade.)
.... There is a very slight chance that Dell will release an official WM6 upgrade considering how old my model is.... (it came out in 2004, being replaced by x51 models in late 2005).
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
For what I have read, you are basically out of luck.
You can't rip the email client out of WM6 since it seems to be very much incorporated within the OS. If you want to enjoy the WM6 email client you have to upgrade.
As far as if there is a WM6 I am not sure and since you have reached a HTC forum, well, have you tried a Dell site?

Quoted for the truth.
Outlook (PIM) depends on Shell, Shell depends on Coredll, Coredll depends on kernel. Bummer.
Like I said, there is no chance that Dell will be releasing WM6 upgrade for its handhelds, so visiting "aximsite" wasn't very usefull for me right now.
When you guys mentioned that the WM6 email client is very much incorporated with the OS, does the same apply with the Internet Explorer Mobile that now supports high resolution, or the Microsoft "MarketPlace"?
Is there at least a third-party HTML support plugin for the native email client, or is Flexmail the only solution for viewing HTML-formatted emails? (I would really prefer a "free" third-party application.)

Try Qmail IMHO the best email program and what is more important free
http://q3.snak.org/download/ take most up to date compilation from Nightly build section and don't be afraid about japanese page Qmail is in english! At the bottom of download page you'll find openssl extension for secure connections.
I can't properly download this "Qmail" program. If I want to download and install it through activesync by first of all extracting the zip file from the nightly build and then running the exe file, it eventually says "not a valid Win32 application" or something like that. In fact, i can't stand that official japanese website, cause i get that same message for anything i try to download from there.
Actually, i got a chance to see how Qmail works (looks pretty nice - it supports HTML, right?), but not necessary to use it. Instead of running it on a PC, i copied right away that zip file to my device, and installed Total Commander on my PPC. However, I had to extract each component for Qmail separately using the Total Commander. Really a disasterous download, if not even. It ended up opening the program, but never really saving it anywhere on my device. After a quick soft reset, there is no more trace of it.
So, SERIOUSLY, does anyone have an alternate cab or exe file of the latest nightly build for Qmail v3 that actually works, not links to that japanese website?
I think you don't get the idea of inslalling it it's not self installing program! unpack it on your desktop than move whole folder with all files (all dlls and q3u.exe) to some folder on your ppc, probably the best is storage card. You can copy files that way by opening activesync and than klicking on explore button there will be your ppc just like any other folder in normal desktop pc. Copy whole qmail folder to it and thats it, you can start qmail using totalcommander on ppc or later create some shortcut to program on today or in programs.
here is packed folder "Qmail" with all needed files unpack it on your desktop and copy unpacked folder with files to your ppc using activesync explore button! Sorry but I can't write it more simply This one works on my ppc as all other versions did!
http://przemek.nekla.pl/Qmail.rar
and one more thing here you can read somthing more about qmail and the power of this program! also how to set it up

Nice!!! I finally got Qmail installed on my device. Seems like it can do a lot more than just let you view HTML-formatted email. So, how well does it compete with the native WM6 email client?
Ohh, you guys never answered me about WM6 Internet Explorer. I find that IE that comes with WM5 takes very long time to open pages, or at least - fairly slow. (Doesn't work very well in the morning when you are in a rush, and don't want to wait for your PC to start up, and whenever it's ready to connect to the internet). Many WM6 reviews say that the WM6 IE is quite faster, supports AJAX, and especially more stable. (Don't know how to explain it to you, but when scrolling too fast the web pages, especially in landscape mode, at one point all the graphics and program icons become as if shattered with black, grey, green, red, ... lines -the images corrupted, that requires soft reset.) Not sure if this is an error, or if WM6 fixes it. That's why I was thinking of overwriting my current IEMobile with the Internet Explorer that comes with WM6. Or is it hard-coded, as well as WM6 email client, into the OS?
One last question. (sorry, if I'm bothering you guys too much.) Everyone knows that IEMobile of any kind does not allow multiple tabs. And i really would have preffered some kind of a plug-in, not a separate web browser, that allows it. I tried PIEPlus, but it also adds way too many features that I don't even need (i need a browser plugin that handles it as simple as possible) that only wastes more memory, and i think, slows down the IE even more. Any idea???
Ok, I know I was asking above lots of things. So, to make it easier:
1)Does anyone know how i can speed up my internet explorer mobile?,
2)And how i can fix that occasional screen error that occurs while browsing the internet that messes up my whole PDA?
So, um, can somebody help me?
Hello! Is anyone out there?

HTC Home Plugin working on Dell x51v (wm6.1) with simple hack

I have tried this hack on the MAKUU wm6.1 beta6 "pure" and on the Lennysh wm6.1 beta 2.1 preview for my Dell Axim x51v.
See thread here: http://forum.lennysh.com/showthread.php?t=182
Basically you need the fake phone/sms DLL hack before installing the HTC plugin.
All files found here on XDA-Devs, but forgot where. So cred to the devs that first posted the files. Found clue for hack in the "Midlet Bible" by Menneisyys.
Also the HTC Home Plugin Customizer v1.0 Final found here works great!!
-NonPaq
Update: LennySH was kind enough to combine a version of HTC Home Plugin VGA with the two DLLs included in a cab for quick and easy installation. See Post #15 for Download.
thank you very much spent a lot of time on trying to get this work
@all
you need to put the dll files in windows folder..
Awesome! Man, I've been looking for ways to get it to work. I gave up and instead, used lrToday with my own clock skin. Now, I can truly get rid of that and try this. Thanks for posting this solution!
Just reflashed with LennySH edition (2.1) and I'm having problems customizing with Home Plugin Customizer v1.0. It goes through all the options, but saving does not change the plugin. I know this used to work (just look at the image). Let me know if you able to change the configurations.
BTW, is this the best "VGA version" of the plugin? The text is very small.
Dont know what I did other than reinstalling the Homeplug, but now the HTC Home Customizer works.
I experimented with installing PocketCM again (scrolling contacts). Previously, the application would immediately bomb out with missing component error. This time it actually ran!! Unfortunately its immediately closing down after loading the contacts, but at the PCM forums it appears to be a wm6.1 problem.
Looks like these fake DLLs may also allow other phone apps to now work on our non-phone Axim. (perhaps even other non-phone devices).
(I changed Homeplug to transparent backgroung, iphone icons, and silver streak clock. All auto downloaded with HTC Home Customizer.)

Mine doesn't work. I copied the dll files over to the Windows directory. Installed the cab file and all it shows on my Today Screen is a line separated where the HTC Home Plugin should be. BTW - haven't install the customizer yet.
Running makuu's pure 6.1 rom.

I originally did this on Makuu's 6.1 pure, so I dont know what is happening. Did you reboot after install? I never did not try it in RealVGA mode however.
Pst... btw, Makuu "leaked" that he will be releasing a new rom with HomePlug built in. My discovery may just be too little too late for Makuu fans.
It will not have the plugin built in, but it will support the installation natively without any tricks. I'll post the link to the rom in few minutes.
Not sure why it's not working. Maybe I'll wait for Makuu's next release. I'll stick with Moble Shell 2 for now. Thanks.
Does it works on WM6 ? (Not 6.1)
My X51v runs the Makuu WM6 FR, and I Wanted to try this homme plug for a long time.

it is a very nice looking plugin, but is it possible to change the tabs like contacts to another launcher?
If 2 or 3 tabs (on a total of 6) aren't usefull on a non-phone device, I won't have it on mine.
ok worked until I changed the theme color with mobile shell 2.. now only a seperator and free space where the plugin should be.. but I think there are better programs out there right now especially ultimate launcher
Attached is a modified cab install for the two attachments in the 1st post. Although this is the older version, I'm at work and can't post a newer version of HTC Home so I decided to go ahead and post this one for people not comfortable with copying files. Just install this cab, and soft reset.
Is there any way that the plugin grows a little bit because it is too small!

Anyone running Opera Mini?

Hi I was thinking of switching from Omnia to TP2 and use Opera Mini all the time due to its speed. Had anyone tested it on the TP2, wondering if the different screen res makes it differcult to read due to size or should it be better.
I just installed it in JBlend. The legibility is OK, although the default font size is a little small. The main problem is that opening or closing the keyboard requires you to restart JBlend, which is a royal pain in the neck as I often want to switch between landscape and portrait mode when I'm browsing.
This problem seems to exist with all JBlend apps.
Install JBed, works like a champ. Will thoroughly recommend it. Much better than JBlend.
On Jbed what is the font size like?
Are there no problems with keyboard as described with jblend?
I just installed the latest JBed and OperaMini now loads fine. The font is pretty small, but readable (by me, at least).
Does anyone know how to create a direct menu shortcut to a specific JBed application (e.g. OperaMini, GoogleMail, etc)? (i.e. without having to launch Jbed then select the app you want to launch). I'd also like to assign a different icon to each application, so that I can tell them apart purely from the icon.
Sorry for the obvious question: JBed? JBlend?
Are these some sort of Java runtimes that one must install on a WinMo device?
There's no Java ME edition in WinMO 6.1 by default?
I don't get why you wouldn't just use opera mobile which comes with it
Because until Opera Mobile 9.7 with Turbo ships, mini opera is several times faster with proper settings.
For the past 3 years I've used almost nothing but Opera Mini myself, instead of the full fledged browsers available (I have bought Opera Mobile as well and a Webkit browser).
It's just so much faster due to Turbo caching and fits my needs.
I suspect many others are in the same boat.

Thanks for the link.
So....following the instructions for jbed...I created a text file on the PC containing only the following line:
"\windows\jbed.exe -run s0_"
(with the quotes included). I copied this file to the TP2 and renamed it "OperaMini.lnk". When I run the renamed file it doesn't know how to handle it - I get the "Open with..." dialog.
Can anyone advise what I'm doing wrong??
itm,
I believe what you need to do, is create the shortcut file on your TP2 using a file explorer other than the stock WM one (at least on my Uni, it is not capable of creating shortcuts). I think you can either use the inbuilt function of the file explorer (i.e. paste shortcut or something like that) or create a file and change the file extension to .lnk (as you have done) Once the new shortcut file is created, you need to access the "properties" box of that file and in the box where it says something like "go to" or "link" you will need to paste "\windows\jbed.exe -run s0_" (with the quotes). You then save the change and should hopefully be ready to roll...
Appologies for the vague explanation, but left my Uni at home today, so can't physically go through the process on an actual WM device atm.
If you're still stuck after reading this, PM me and I'll try and walk you through once I'm home.

File size problem

I have a frustrating problem that so far I've been unable to solve and hope one of the experts might be able to point me in the right direction please. It might be a TP2 or WM file support issue or somehow related to using a 16 GB microSD card, or it might be due to some aspect of the application, Memory-Map.
I transfer maps (proprietary .QCT files) from my PC to my TP2 so that I can then use them on walks/trips. Up until now I've been using only small files, 20 MB or so. But recently I tried larger maps, 80 MB plus, and Mem-Map reported that it couldn't open them.
FWIW, it did rather better when I transferred the files externally to the 16 GB microSD card versus direct via AS. That managed 34 MB but failed to open the 80 MB. But with the AS method the best I tried was 12 MB.
I then dusted off the TP2's predecessor, my ancient iPAQ 2210. I copied a file of 120 MB to it externally and Mem-Map opened it with no fuss.
So can anyone suggest why the TP2 can't handle it please?

Take the SD card out, mount it on your desktop, then copy the files and put it back in your mobile.
Thanks, but the problem remains.
I've just had a reply from Memory-Map which I'll paste below:
"The issue we are having with Windows Mobile 6.1 is that it seems to refuse to open Memory-Map map files that are smaller than the limit set by the Memory-Map Pocket Navigator software. The Memory-Map Pocket Navigator software= has a file size limit of 400MB per map file, however we have found some Windows Mobile 6.1 devices will not open map files of sizes greater than 100MB. This unfortunately changes between devices and as such we are unable to supply an answer telling customers the maximum map size they are able to use on a particular Windows Mobile 6.1 device.
The reason for this issue is that Microsoft have changed something in the way that the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system handles data and threads the available system resources (CPU, RAM, and ROM) to software applications. As I am sure you understand Microsoft are quite unwilling to change their operating system back to how it was in Windows Mobile 6.0 or Windows Mobile 5.0 (that Memory-Map Pocket Navigator software worked fine with), as such we are currently working on ways in which to be able to use larger map files on the Windows Mobile 6.1 devices. This however is not an easy task, as it involves changing the entire Memory-Map .QCT file structure and the entire way in which the Memory-Map .QCT files are handled by the Memory-Map Pocket Navigator software (.QCT is our propriety map file format)."
