I need to send my Hermes in for repairs on the USB-connector (it's got a short)..I still have warrenty, but I have a strong feeling that they won't do anything with the device if I don't put it back into factory-default (Bootloader, ROM, Radio-ROM)
I think I'll find a way to get the default O2-Germany-ROM on the device (USB is broken, so I need to do all by SD-Card-flashing..), not sure about the Radio-ROM, trouble will be the Bootloader! I have one saying its Olipro 2.10 or something..
anyone know how I can put it all back into factory-default for O2-Germany?
Downgrade your SPL first. And then load o2 original ROM with radio. Do these using SD card method.
done the downgrade, but I can't get rid of the olipros 2.10 hardSPL..might not send it in after all, they'll only charge me for flashing different ROMs around :/

I've been reading and I see there's uspl for devices, for upgrading a rom without the need to upgrade to hard spl,
Is there uspl for htc diamond? Is it more dangerous for use?
Im asking because everything I found is related to hspl only.
I need to keep the option for restoring everything back for warrenty reasons, but I see its not possible to flash back to stock spl from internal storage, so I'm afraid one day maybe my usb slot will stop function and I wont be able to flash it using AS.
It may sound dumb, I know, but I want to make it carefully.
Is there any risks involved in using uspl instead of hspl?
I appreciate the help.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I did found SSPL, though only for very old versions of radio and rom, Mine is 1.93 and radio 1.00.25.05

Hahahaha, hi eranyanay, your worries have come true for me.. Couple of days ago, my Diamond stooped recognizing the usb port, and all the syncing and transferring have been done through bluetooth..
Now i can not revert to factory SPL, thou i have flashed a stock rom and put some of the original parts (bootloader, splashes and OS) back, just to try and make the warranty work (if they accept it )... we will see in the end
And, btw, i have been flashing and using HTCs for 3 years intensively now...

Oh I know!
You're one of the reasons for my question.
Its just that I couldnt find any attention to sspl around here, only to hspl.
Well, I tried to build rom from my backup of the original rom shipped with my device.
Now I've got to check it somehow to see if its good.
I havent hard-spl my device yet, but im going to do it now.
I couldnt find direct answer, but what happens if I try to flash bad image?
Im going to use the hardspl 1.93 olinex unsigned.
If the Image I created isn't working properly, I'll be able to flash my device with another rom for bootloader mode?
If so, how?
(of course, Im assuming bootloader mode will be accessable even though I flashed bad image?)
thanks
yes..i have flash my device a few time from the bootloader screen..its appear "usb" and than your pc see the device..start RUU and flash it againt
butevery time you flash..is possible to brick the device..becarefull
put in the storage card the file .nbh and rename it in "DIAMIMG.nbh" than press volume down and backspace+tasto reset..hold the buttons and flash without pc...this is the faster way (less 1minutes)
ps i never brick any phone..and flash a few time a week with new release and mine
hi there Soikiro,
sorry for being a bit noob at this, but would greatly appreciate if you could explain if it is changing the spl that will brick the phone, or flashing the rom that may brick the phone?
And if the phone is brick, can I reflash it back to default?
Thanks for your help!
Three may be more possibility for bricking the device during changing of spl. So be careful and choose correct one for your device. You may play with the rom. But be careful of spl.{sorry for my bad english}
my t-mobile htc touch pro 2 broke, im gonna send it back but i need to put the stock rom and radio n spl so i could do it... now my question is how can i put the stock radio back... i already put the stock rom from t-mobile website. but im actually stuck now cuz i dont know how to do it... i've try to search but i cant come up with anything... please help me out just this time... i need to send it back by tomorrow...thanks in advance
the stock radio should be along with the links, and you might have to hardspl again to change the radio, not sure, ill be back with a link and stuff
Ok, you ARE going to have to Hard SPL again, and flash the stock radio which is apparently here:
http://dl.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobileUS/Filedownload.aspx?pid=tp2
enter your IMEI and you should get the stock radio, let me know what happens.
You flash a radio just like a ROM, easiest way is to put it on your SD card and name it RHODIMG.nbh then start the phone in bootloader
Thanks bro thanks a lot,....
DO I HARDSPL AGAIN FIRST N THEN THE ROM OR THE OTHER WAY AROUND?
A few days ago I posted a question asking whether or not I should unroot my desire before sending it back because of a temperamental usb port, I was advised that it would be best to do so.
Today I decided to do it but my temperamental usb port has now completely gone, which means I am unable to restore it using the normal method. Is there anyway of somehow unrooting without needing usb (I have a microsd card reader). Would it be possible to extract the rom from the RUU (...) .exe files and installing it like a normal rom?
If this is not possible, do people have any recommendations on what I should do?
Thanks for any help.

Depending on what else you have done to your phone (for example s-off) you can flash an unrooted ROM from your SD card. There are quite a few guides and tutorials available.
Are you sure the actual port is broken? Have you tried another cable? MicroUSB (unlike mini USB) has the small springs that hold the cable in on the cable rather than the port. That makes the cable rather easy to break and the port more reliable. I was surprised when it happened to me (still not sure how) that it actually made the connection temperamental rather than just not staying in when pulled. Of course it could be a flaky connection inside the phone.
As for your question, I'm pretty sure it can be done with extracting the images from the RUU and flashing from recovery but I don't know how myself. There might be a guide somewhere, or you might be able to piece together instructions from when people were flashing only some of those (when avoiding hboot updates for example).

iain2510, could you point me in the direction of a guide on how to unroot without using the usb? All that comes up for me are ones that require using HTC Sync.
I've managed to extract rom.zip from the RUU but it only contains .image and .nb0 files, trying to flash it brings up an error, probably due to it not being in the format that is required.
@Antcodd Its definitely the port, the board that above the pins had broken and now the pins have bent. I'm now wondering that htc might say its physical damage and not covered by warranty.
make sure its the correct ruu for your phone... is your phone branded? then use the correct branded ruu, unless you have a goldcard and i doubt it. If your unbranded then you can use any as long as you dont get the ones for slcd/amoled screens mixed up.
Extract the rom.zip from the ruu. (If your s-off and want to stay s-off then remove the hboot file from the rom.zip)
Rename the `rom.zip` to `PB99IMG` and put on SD card, powerbutton and volume down takes you into the bootloader, and confirm the flash.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1027650 - worth a look.
Edit-just read the above post and it covers what you need to know/do!

I'm getting an error "main version is older update fail" I've spent a while looking around to find a way to do a downgrade but I can't find anything that I can do.
Thanks.
That's because your firmware is newer. Find another ruu, or search for teppics downgrader facility, should be on xda somewhere.
Managed to do it now. I had a problem was that my phone was t-mobile branded, even though I had unbranded a while ago, this meant that all the ruu's that I could use (t-mobile) where older firmware versions. The goldcard website has been down for a while so I wasn't able to create a goldcard. Now its back up I was able to flash the lastest HTC ruu.
Thanks a lot for the help. I now hope they will replace the usb without any complaint.
Hi there,
I m going to sell my phone to a recycling company so wanted to remove my root before sending it in.
I messed up a number of times by trying to install a lower version RUU, ended up with no ROM and unable to flash another ROM.
I remembered that i originally de-branded the phone using the WWE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869048, so used my goldcard and re-flashed.
So I am now back with working phone. Is it ok to send it like it is now or should I downgrade the hboot and flash with my original carrier RUU?
There aren't any further updates after froyo from HTC anyway, so they wont need a gold card and my phone is unlocked.
thanks
