Prophet vs. Trinity - P3600 ROM Development

I use to have a Prophet last time and I found out that the speed ( compare with Trinity) is faster, although Trinity have a faster processor.
Anyone?

Everything depends on what rom you have. Good configuration e.g. proper set of cache or/and page pool value can make the difference.

BA Overclock to 531 MHZ hack master settings?

Hello, guys. What are the most stable overclock settings for my O2 XDA IIs in hack master?
THanks
i've toyed with several overclocking utilities and found that its useless.
first of all, you will not see Excel opening up faster. However you will see that some programs will not work properly e.g Windows Media Player
when u overclock to 500+, phone becomes unstable. Even when it does work (about one in three times u OC it), you'll be getting like extra 2-3 FPs in SNES emulator, which brings it up to 27-28FPS (gasp) in Zelda. That plus a tiny screen makes for aN aggravating experience
.
hardly noticable? you get aprroximately double the performance in TCPMP benchmarks clocked at 590:147:295.. stock was getting about 800kb/sec media performance and at the above settings try 1.6mb/s
if anyone wants to compare your results with mine search for this video RL_MQB_320x240_512_128.avi and run the benchmark against it in TCPMP
The point is, just because it benches better doesnt mean its actually any faster for how you use it. Fiddle with the settings - just be careful with the memory. If you push it up to 166mhz (from the stock 100) then it will lose all your data!! Below that I have had no problems (147mhz and below).
I agree to a point.. you can't expect it to double your GPRS downloads because that just wont happen.. but with almost a 50% overclock I can tell a significant difference

Overclocking an XDA Orbit

Sorry if this has been posted b4 but im at work so not a great deal of time to search.
Has anyone increased the processor speed on an Orbit / Artemis ?
If so what seems to be a stable speed ?
How much effect does it have on the battery ?
What is the best software to use to carry out the overclock ?
Any help appreciated inc links to previous threads about this subject.
Thanks in advance.
Run a search for BatteryStatus.
Its freeware and it has a lot of options including overclocking. I used it once, although my needs never justified it and found it stable when clocking up to 270MHz. Others have had varying experiences, I think its user to user depending on the applications/OS you are running.
Overclocking
I use OMAPCLOCK @ 240 and it works fine.

Overclocking Hermes wm6

Is there a preferred tool/utility that's compatible with wm6 (if it matters?) that will let me overclock my hermes?

The only one I know of that works is pocket hack master
http://www.wizcode.com/products/view/pocket_hack_master
Have fun
Chris
I was under the impression that the Hermes wasn't really overclockable...
I played with the trial version of Hack Master, I set it up under/over clocked. I got some screen flicker when underclocked below 300mhz otherwise it seemed like it worked, I didn't try any benchmarks though. Give it a try. I'd be surprised if it doesn't work for you.
I don't know about WM6.1 though. I tried it on WM6

sweet thanx chris . i'll give it a benchmark and see how it works
I have seen somewhere that when you overclock hermes the bluetouth will not work.

there is no way to overclock hermes. the procesor change it speed accord the needest of procesing. the can vary trougth 100 to 400 mhz. the hacker master software only show the speed but it doesn't change it on the procesor. this is the best way to safe battery power, cause less speed >>> more battery.
sorry about my english, i speak spanish

So your saying you can under clock with Hack Master, but it actually doesn't over clock above 400? I know it underclocked my hermes as I could see the screen flicker change with lower MHz. I'm gonna have to install their newest vers. and try some bechmarks. Unless aliencurv gets some results....
I can see that it would save battery with the underclock...

you cant change the procesor speed with any software. hack master only show you the speed that you have configured to change clock, but actually doesnt do anything.
the procesor speed is managed by itself.

Try loading the trial version and drop your processor speed to 200mhz and see and feel the drop in speed. Your screen will flicker too. Is it changing something else. I know last summer it didn't support the samsung processor, but it is now listed and it definitely does something to my hermes...

Search In Hermes Forum
Do a Google search in the Hermes forum and you will find a thread that was dedicated to this subject. I believe the conclusion was that, at best, one of the applications to overclock could be increased by, at most, 10% before resets were required. That may have changed with the release of version 4.3? of Pocket Hack Master this past January.

HTC touch Overclock Program (sprint)

Hey i just got this over at http://www.smartphonejunkie.com/main.php thanks to Dash
"It's a control panel. You launch it, enable 'dynamic CPU frequency scaling' checkbox, and pick the 520mhz max or 624mhz settings.
Then you forget about it, except your mogul or touch to now runs like it's on steroids.
It is noticeably faster... snappier. Stable, so far, as well".
After a soft-reset. Go to settings>system>performance, where you'll see a new icon called Performance.
Here's the link
http://rapidshare.com/files/87407743...mance.cab.html
I just installed it and WOW!! You can really see the difference.
"HTC performance only works on xscales... it wont work on the dual core stuff found in these qualicom devices. because there is (at this date) absolutely no way to overclock the 400mhz core (dedicated for the UI) without screwing up the 133 core dedicated for the radio (or "the phone") hopefully those wizcode geeks are going to figure this out for their next release of pocket hack master but I'm getting more and more skeptical the more I look into it.
You can oc your ti omap to like 3something but it will get weird on you.
If you have seen "faster" speeds I apologize for killing your placebo effect."
I just read this..... what a buzz kill, but i still see a performance improvement, so you guys decide.

This has been posted and discussed many many times. it does not, does not...work on the msm 72/7500 series...
the title of this thread really should be changed in order to prevent giving a million users false hope about the same app again...good ole "HTC Performance".
doesnt belong in the vogue section, and should not have "sprint" on the end.

What do these do exactly??

HLCM->System->GDI->GLYPHCACHE
click values
highlight and chose limit
change value
default is 16384
change this to 32768 or 65536
Also what does omaping do and what is safe level to change it to on tornado? I have kavanna 6.1 and my dash is made in china i believe.

I know that changing those values will speed up the performance of the Dash in some capacity. I don't know exactly what speeds up, but there's a noticeable difference.
OMAPing (or overclocking) speeds up your phone's processor speed. The processor is set to 200mhz by default. Overclocking pushes the phone to perform at speeds higher than the suggested mhz of the processor. There's a BIG difference in the phone's performance, but there's also a RISK that your phone will lock up if set too high. I have mine set to 240mhz--and it runs beautifully. For a couple of days, I had it set to 252mhz--but it began to freeze at random times. Thus, I set it back to 240mhz. Just be careful going above 240mhz. I own a Dash/Excalibur, so I don't know what a safe clock speed will be on your Tornado.
Does increasing glyphcache maintain an application's normal running speed? i.e. does a video run faster, or normal?
Regarding overclocking, it would be nice if there was some level of dynamic switching. There was a tutorial for setting a different clock speed for when the screen's backlight is on or off. That would maximize battery usage and performance transparently. Anyone still running this scheme?
I have performed the Gyphcache tweak, but not sure how to re-set the processor speed. My system info says 201 Mhz, but tcpmp says it's running at 180. How can I raise it? I have T-mob 6.0 Standard (...I know...)
Thanks!

Not quite sure how to overclock the 6.0 ROM. I'm running Kavana's 080408 6.1 ROM, and it has a pre-installed OMAPClock program which allows you to overclock. Just look for the standalone OMAPClock program on Google or some other search engine.
Download Rickys Extras
Go to the page for Ricky's remade ROM and download his extras. The OMAP clock should be in there. Once installed open it and it will set you processor to whatever speed you want, but make sure to not go over 240 like stated earlier. Don't trust the TCMP's info. Just listen to the OMAP clock. It works perfectly. Later.
