My phone updated the other day somehow and some settings were lost, and now the menu shortcut order has changed to match the wm6.1 menu.
I checked my version and my phone says I've got CE OS 5.2.1238 (Build 17745.02.3). I've looked lots, but have had no luck in seeing what the differences this wm6 version is and the stock wm6 version was.
Anyone got some insight for this?

Hi all,
I'm loving the WM5.0 ROMs, however I cannot seem to get GoodLink to install (it claims my version of WM is unsupported). I've noticed for some other platforms, people have managed to change their WM version number to effectively combat this (fooling GoodLink to install).
Any idea how I can change the WM version number to fool GoodLink to install?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
if you provide me with the install cab i may help, but first i have to look at it
Sure, I've uploaded the install cab here.
Thanks a lot.
First i think this is smartphone release, not pocketpc one, second your link does not work
Apologies.
Here is the correct file. I selected the wrong one
Matt
I dont know what this software is, and how to configure it but here is working WM5 cab of it, it installs and the some kind of setup wizard comes up, and then it asks for email and for pin
Thanks for your help. However, the issue with GoodLink is that it does a check after you enter your PIN on the WM version. At this point, it sees my BA is 5.1 (not 5.0) and fails the install.
I've seen other ROMs change the version number to avoid this problem and didn't know if it's something that's easy to do (either via a hex editor or a registry fix).
Cheers,
Matt
it is compatible with older wm5 roms without the 5.1 core, i am not sure where is the correct address to change for blueangel
and i think that it is time for them to update their app, there are no WM 5.0 devices anymore on the market
Thanks xplode, I'll try finding, downloading & installing a 5.0 ROM tonight then and see if it all works.
Agreed that they should update their software!
Matt
Just a followup to the above, I cannot seem to find any older images for download, the earliest I can find is "xplode_AKU3.3_Beta1_R1.rar" which still has a 5.1 core.
Any ideas where I can get an older WM5.0 image from? I'd go back to 2003, but that's not supported either (between a rock and a hard place with GoodLink!)
Matt
sorry i am a bit of a beginner with all this but very confused. I want to upgrade my wm5 loox n500 with windows mobile 6 so i can run certain apps. I have read all the forums and i have downloaded the rom upgrades which say they will change my pda to wm6 - file appears to be os_122u.nbf. however after doing this which all appeared to go successfully my apps will still not run and it appears when i check that i am still on wm5
what am i doing wrong ? have i downloaded the wrong image / duff image ?
is there a dummy guide to upgrading the n500 anywhere ? is it the same for upgarde purposes as a n520 ?
any help appreciated
Craig
just by way of update after supposedly upgrading to wm6 it now says i am on version 5.1.464,
rom revision p224452-p919-v122
rom date 2006-09-20
bootloader revision 1.05
if this means anything to anybody ?
" 5.1.464"
== windows CE 5 which every windows mobile since wm5 have been build
on
where windows mobile 7 should use windows CE6
thanks Rude, just not sure how that helps me - or am i missing something ?
it gave you a version number to search if thats a 6.x version
another thing you can see is if you got threaded sms's it's one of the
few differences between wm6 wm5 apart from the glossy top panels
Hi everyone,
I have just encountered this problem yesterday and have tried extensively to rectify this problem on my Arte 100...
My messaging functions does not load. Even after I performed a backup restore, the messaging function still does not load/open. It seems like it has just gone missing for some reason.
My Arte 100 runs on RM Version 3.7.707.1 WWE
ROM Date 6/21/07
Radio Version 02.69.90
Protocol Version 4.1.13.30
ExtROM Version 3.6.707.101
So far, I have not done any major hacking... just installed the SDHC_Artemis when I expanded my memory card to 4Gig about 2 months back. This problem did not occur then but only now. 've searched extensively into the forum but couldn't find any clue or any topics relating to this...
Please help!
So what happened was my original one had a microphone problem, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4779840#post4779840
So I backed it up with SPB Backup and Sprite (just in case) and last night since I had some time to kill I verified the backup would restore properly. I didn't try Sprite yet, but SPB worked just fine. It asks a few questions during the restore process, but nothing surprising.
Today I replaced my Tilt 2, it just finished charging and when I went to restore the exact same backup I restored to my previous Tilt 2, SPB Backup says my ROM version is different and what type of restoration process to follow, ROM Upgrade Mode, etc... !?
Both were hard reset before restoring, etc, so... Interesting! I didn't look at the version of my original one, but could some of you look at your phone info and post your ROM version? Stock ATT ROM's please ;-)
This phone shipped with this: CE OS 5.2.21849 (Build 21849 5.0.63)
If the ROM is already listed, no need to re-list it, just curious about different versions out there. Very interesting that two phones from the same store 4 days apart have a different version, wish I knew what the original version was! I guess I could maybe restore the "whole thing" back in SPB and see if the version differs... Might do that in a bit.
I have the same OS version you do, and here's my ROM information:
OS version: CE OS 5.2.21849 (Build 21849 5.0.63)
ROM version: 1.59.502.3 (67150) WWE
ROM date: 9/25/09
Radio version: 4.48.25.20
Protocol version: 61.39tc.25.30h
dupe, ignore
Interesting.. From here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4720804&postcount=15
The dump from Herg is build 21839 the shipped ATT build is 21849.

That's because it is a Test ROM.

If it helps, my Tilt2 has the same version info.
I'm currently running NRGZ's latest ROM however occasionally I cook my own. He hasn't updated the cab for HTC Messages recently and the version in the addons section is 1.5 (Build 2012.1931). I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a newer version out there? A cab with the newer version would be great but I can convert an oem or ext into a cab no probablem. Even if anyone could give me a newer version number (to better search google with) that would be great!

Tried this on the TP2 works but the SecureBox doesnt. The suggestion is to change the MessagingClientDll.dll.0409.mui with the one in the thread, but when you hit all messages, it does nothing, and if you go thru start and then messages, it throws you back to the Today screen. So I had to go back to an older version I kept to make the Msg app work. Anyone with clues?
Where do you check which HTC Messaging version is in our phones? There's no "About" that I can see
Or is it dependent on the Manila version? Mine's 2.5.20121225
I want to change it as I don't really like my existing version as there's no character count
UPDATE: I was using Energy's Apr 23 ROM and there's no "About" in HTC Messagng. I've since installed the HTC Messaging Client cab found in the Add-On and I can see the "About" now in Menu. The version I have now is 1.5 (Build 2012.1931). Probably an older version, but the character count is there now
