Best Rom For My Needs? - P3300, MDA Compact III ROM Development

I've decided instead of getting a new phone, I am going to keep this one for 2 more years.
When I bought it, I used the HTC Official WM5 and upgraded to the HTC Official WM6. The only tweak I used was the SDHC one so I can use a 4gb card.
I want to upgrade to WM6.1 but I don't need all the extras that come with a cooked rom so anything that is close to Official will be great as long as I can still use the +4gb SDHC memory cards.

well i recomend you with the YuE extraclean.. (v10 or v11.3)
but 2 problems with your needs
1. i think it don't support SDHC so you need to do it by your self (don't know how cuz i use SD)
2.you have to flash it with SD card flashing since it's smaller than the usual ROMs..supposing you don't have an SD card.
if you did not like it look at the following
PDAVIET & LOVE
the latest version is a lite version
the touch vanilla ROM
greasy weasel ROMS
hint. you can find more info about them in their threads
cheers

I can confirm that SDHC works with the YuE roms, but I always found that the Artemis Vanilla 4.02 rom from Meschle is a fantastic stock WM6.1 build.

I'd go for YuE Lite (not extraclean), because it's much faster than stock WM6.1 and not too much is stripped.
If a rom you want doesn't have SDHC support, you can use a cab for that. There's one around on the forum somewhere......

i think ROM of michyprima good too .. it's like the original with a little of modifications.

What is the newest WM5 ROM for Universal?

Hi!
I'm searching for newest, good ROM for My exec...
I heard that helmi 3.5 ROM is good, but it have many bugs
(no smartdial, problem with PIE High Res, etc). I don't want
WM6, becouse I want to have videocalls...
What is newest shipped ROM version for Universal? (O2,
Orange, Era, Qtek, Jasjar, etc) ? Can I find shipped version
with AKU 3.x ??
THX
try 2.01.01PDA from Pdaviet.net , AKU 3.5, very stable and very fast
THX, but I also want to know, what is the newest version
of original shiped roms... And also answers for rest of my questions
That 2.01.01PDA is older version of ROM v2.01.08 PDAVIET UNI,
that can be found on this forum?
How much free RAM space will I get? I need to have at least 28MB
free program memory to play COD2
For the shipped rom u can visit other manufacturers site to check for the latest official upgrade provided by them.
OK, but there is nothing about AKU, only ROM version - that tells me nothing...
So what about that ROM v2.01.08 PDAVIET UNI - is this newer version of
2.01.01PDA on WM5 AKU 3.5, or I must search 2.01.01PDA somewhere on the
net?
Maybe another ROM? I need 28MB of free RAM (program memory) to play
COD2, so ROMs eating a lot of memory isn't for me...

Which AKU3.3 ROM to use

At the moment there are 3 roms which seem similar,
NEW ROM: MDA-PRO offcial AKU3.3 ROM with SDHC support (from swat4)
[08 11 2007] (Vanilla) Debranded WM5 AKU3.3 T-Mob rom (from PsiDOC)
New Rom!! [21/12/2007] Final Release. PsiDOC's WM5 AKU3.3 Matrix Edition
I am trying to choose the one which works the best, but was wondering if each one is a vanilla ROM or what extras each one has, if any.
They all seem to use the AKU3.3 ROM. Is there much difference between them and is it possible to use the swat4 SDHC Support with the PsiDOC roms as I have a 4g SDHC card which I would like to use
I have been using the WM6 Beasty Leo 2.09.01 which is good but does not seem as reliable as WM5, and since they have stopped working on it WM5 seems more attractive, if less flashy.
Anybody please
I advice you the unbranded version by PsicoDOC

Tahnks for the reply, do you mean this one
[08 11 2007] (Vanilla) Debranded WM5 AKU3.3 T-Mob rom (from PsiDOC)
rather than
New Rom!! [21/12/2007] Final Release. PsiDOC's WM5 AKU3.3 Matrix Edition
Any special reason you picked that one
I tried both of them, the matrix edition and the new rom with sdhc.
i actually have this last one, they are both the same, but the psidoc's one is more pretty, but it doesn't have the sdhc support.
i'm customizing the second rom...

Thanks for the reply. What are you doing to customizing it? You will have to let me know when you finish the customizing and let me have a try of it.
I'm using WM5 AKU 3.3 by HELMI
Icon and WaitingIcon is WM6 looks...
Also Bootscreen...
Well, i've put on the
MDA-PRO offcial AKU3.3 ROM with SDHC support (from swat4)
and it works fine, the 4g memory card is recognised with no problems. See how it goes from here.
I flash Swat4 ROM with SDHC support, i partition my 8GB SDHC to 2 partition as Swat4 mention, it only can recognized 1 partition only. If no partition, also can recognized 4GB only.
But i flash MWANG wm6.1, it can recognized 2 partition. Anyone can use MWANG wm6.1 SDHC file to replace in Swat4 ROM ? To try can WM5 to recognized 2 partition or not !
Thanks in advanced !
Cheers,

ok, i have nk.nbf, what the hell do o do with it?

which rom is better

hi
i had a problem with my htc p3300 that was freezing all the time
i have windows mobile 6 on it now and i want to upgrade it to windows mobile 6.1 and was wondering which of the rom would you recommend to me:
this what i found so far:
1) Oop's Black v1.0 WWE CE OS 5.2.19949 ( Aku 1.2 )
2) Artemis Touch Roms WWE WM6.1(3.01)(4.0)(4.01)(4.02)
3) 4.02 Vanilla
if you have any other roms that you recommend that will be very appritiated
thank you.
i've found Ooops black to be best for me. tried loads too.. gonna try the manilla 2d 1's this week and see what there like..
YuE ROMs are the best, esp 4.4. You can search and get them from this forum.
Its like saying does Chocolate milkshake taste better than banana milkshake. You have to try it to taste it.
Personally i have tried so many roms, i have had problems one way or another.
Freshly installed worked for a couple of days, then you find out it has stability issues.
Im currently using 4.02 Vanilla with no apps installed into the main device mem, but apps running of the mem card. Seems to be the stablest rom i have used.
I would say each to their own.
I've tried loads of roms as well and settled for Vanilla 4.02 without
cube, cause I find it just works better , I also use Ultimate launch
with it and it looks good,
Just waiting to try one of the Manilla roms but waiting till all the problems are ironed out

Is there a stable WM 6.5 ROM for the P3600 (NOT 3600i)?

Hi,
I have to flash the rom anyway (there are some strange things happening to my device, I fear it is hijacked). Since I am only an interested end user, not so much interested in testing - I would like to know whether I should use one of the latest WM6.5 or a stable WM6.1 rom. I already have a 6.1 rom, but a quite early one ([english ROM LVSW_Trinity_WM6_v2.0.1.1 (2007-05-27)]) and thus not so reliable.
The first issue, however is, since I own a P3600 (400 MHz only) with ROM: 128 MB and RAM: 64 MB SDRA only, whether WM 6.5 would ever run stable on this device. Does anyone have a well founded opinion on this issue?
Anyway, what would be the most stable version?
From my side, no language preference, English would be as fine as German.
Thank you for any kind response!
stable ROM
Hi,
Chanvi 's one are good ROM(s) .. On my opinion, i prefer the 6.1 rom with manila 2D more usable than 6.5 with CHome ...
I'use this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=472178
"Update Feb-13-2009 : OS 21139.5.0.0 Manila 2D Iolite-Footprints .
This Rom is a hybrid WM 6.1/6.5"
Great ROM !
regards
[ROM] [WWE] Windows Phone 6.5 21815 by Savesaint [Online] [Updated 2009.06.18]
This one is more stable, then Chanvi's, from my opinion, i had much more bugs using different builds from chanvi's, even in different customisations.
Savesaint's has it's own bugs, and i can't customise it (because it's not a kitchen), but i prefer using that one.
But 3600's wm5 doesn't look like this one
the both sent ROM is 6.5 and as i know it always Memery hungry . does anubody knows whis ROM is the best in 6.1?

I use from 3 month now and i have no problem with FInixNOver 3.7.2 light, before i use FInixNOver 3.7.2 manilla and it work very good.I was change it becose in manilla i have 12 mb free memory and igo stops sometimes.
this is another vote for the FInixNOver 3.7.2 light rom, for stability you cant get anything better than this ... i've tried a lot of roms and have allways gone back to this one.
I've tried all the 6.5 version roms and to be honest mate ... dont go there, they all have their issues.
give it a try to 6.5
I have been testing for a while now some 6.5 Roms. From my experience they have bugs, not all the programs can't work on 6.5, etc...
But I am confident since the savesaint 815 that we are going to have a very stable Rom soon. From my experience this was the best in 6.5 roms.
The few bugs that the rom have are solve by now.
Must wait developments... until Stable!

Yeah
I agree, things got to get done. WM 6.5 it's not final version yet. Still in development from Microsoft... so got to wait a bit more so that we can really talk about a stable ROM.
Until there, with minor or sometimes a bit major bugs, the latest Builds are working better...

in the official thread, there is no links: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=506501
thanks

thanks.
installed the rom and after playing with it for a while, i must say that this rom is very good. quick and stable. so i think i stick with this rom for a while.
wm 6.5 is cool, but it soo slow with newer releases, so that i cant use it anymore.
I am the same opinion, for now I'll stay with version 6.1 light version to not have problems with iGO.I find on the net windows mobile 5, original vesion HTC P 3600 and I thinking to install that to comarare wm5 and wm6.1. I bought SPV M700 from orange, 2 years ago.

first i was very happy with wm6.5 (first releases). But the more wm6.5 goes further, it's soo slow and the response time is very long (i use spb mobile shell).
I never had problems with tomtom, but with the last wm6.5 releases tomtom runs so slow
Greek rom

Only if you want internet radio.
You all welcome to try my rOms.
If you are looking for stability, I definitely recommend trying Tomme45i's latest ROM series:
[ROM+KITCHEN][WWE][26.08.09]WM 6.1.21054 + 6.5.23017 Classic
He has stripped away the fancier elements of 6.5 (so personal preference will play a part in deciding if it is the ROM for you) but it's incredibly stable, has excellent memory handling and suffers from no memory leaks.
It is probably the last of his Trinity ROMS, so well worth checking out.
Hope this helps,
Matt.

6.5 Roms - speed, stability?

I'm running a pretty stable, but older version of CRC's rom. I'm thinking about upgrading to one of the 6.5s and have a few questions for those who have been more adventurous than me.
Are the 6.5 roms stable?
Do they seem slow on our long in the tooth hermes?
are there any that have "timed" themes for volume? Example is SPB's solutions that allow you to say "Vibrate" --> for x configured times or any custom time.
Oh - and can these be installed via the SD card method? or direct USB only? I don't think i saw any that mention anything about the SD card. I haven't ever done an upgrade via this method - so don't know if that's been the established standard by now. I do have Hard SPL.
Are there any gotchas?
I've been doing a lot of browsing and window shopping reading through all the different roms threads - but it's just getting waaay too much to try figure out.
any input would be greatly appreciated.
My Hermes has struggled with 6.5 ROMs. Compared to Schap's and CRC's 6.1 ROMS, I have found it to be frustratingly slow.
You can flash them via SD card, no problem at all.
If you want really stable ROMs with everything just working, I'd recommend a 218xx build, which are the official 6.5 release builds. The newer 23xxx builds are more finger-friendly (originally intended for capacitive screens), but still beta and thus have some bugs.

did you eventually roll back to a 6.1 ? have you tried one of the ones based on the 218xx build like livven suggested?

cool thanks!
My experience of sluggish 6.5 ROMs is based on the 23XX builds. It sounds like it might be worth trying a 21XX but I've just gone back to 6.1 and lost my appertite for flashing for the moment.
I've tried many 6.5 ROMs. I found that TAI ROMs are awesome. You could see the screenshot:

Speed & stability is good too.
I prefer the SD method. The easy way. Just rename the rom to HERMIG.nbh and copy it to SD card. Flash it. After finish flashing the rom, hard reset it.
That's it done.

Sorry mistyping, the correct one is HERMIMG.nbh
Manila2D is still somewhat buggy and slows down the device very much, especially the new 2.0 versions from the HTC Mega.
But try it yourself, everyone has different preferences!
