The Mini-USB-Connector on my XDA-Diamond isn’t working anymore. Windows recognizes my Diamond as “unknown device”...
So I have to ship my device to "O2-Germany" (repair service) and I think, I should remove Hard-SPL before ...
Normal flashing is no Problem for me, using the following “workaround”:
1. Rename your Image to DIAMIMG.NBH
2. Copy DIAMIMG.NBH to Internal Storage root (I can do this via Bluetooth)
3. Put Diamond to "USB Trigger Mode" throught holding VolDown+Back while pressing reset
- After a few seconds Diamond will ask you to flash DIAMIMG.NBH
4. Press PowerButton to start flashing
Now I tried to remove Hard-SPL by performing the following steps (using the workaround above):
1. flash original ROM (O2-Germany v.1.93)
2. flash Stock-SPL (SPL v.1.37)
3. flash original ROM (O2-Germany v.1.93) again
Flashing seemed to be successful, but when I go to “Bootloade-mode” it still displays something like “SPL 1.4 Olinex”
What did I do wrong? Can anybody help please??

I just got my diamond back from the repair at the danish provider 3, I simply stated when i turned the phone in, that i allready had tried to flash it , and it didnt solve my problem (which was the same as yours, they are going to replace the print in your phone so make sure to backup everything on the internal as well as on the phone). Just make sure the write it on the repair note, and everything will be allright.
My phone went to repair with bePe 0.96.

Did you tried to connect you Diamond to antoher PC?
If not, try to remove Active Sync(also manually delete the Active Sync directory in the folder "c:\program files\microsoft activesync" en reinstall it.
You can also try to go manually into the bootloader(pres and hold volume down + reset button and release the volume down button when you seee the tri-colored screen). When you connect to the PC there should be USB on the display on the phone(instead of serial).
Maybe it's just your pc instead of your TD
I'm sure it's the mini-USB connector and not the PC that is not working properly.
I have another Diamond tried on my PC. The other device is working well.
Activesync I have also completely deinstalled and then reinstalled (with manual deleting before).
Even in bootloader mode, the diamond can not be accessed from the PC.
Hello all i have the same problem my usb does not working and it's my diamond not my pc. Im sorry for my bad english im french i have tried to change all the rom but no change my usb not work.
Same problem here, USB-Connector is broken. It all started with a loose connection. Back then i thought that it is my PC that is not working properly, because charging still works - even now it does.
Nonetheless the USB-Connector in the phone is dead for any type of data transfer, so i need to get the Diamond into its state of delivery to get warranty service. That means restoring stock rom , stock spl (which causes the main problem), and stock radio.
As the originial ROMs from O2 Germany contain their stock radio, these 2 problems should solve pretty fast - before or after restoring stock spl.
I thought of the .nbh-File containing the stock spl renaming to diamimg.nbh and push it to internal storage via WLAN-Connection and flash, as i usually do with roms - but i don't have a clue if this might work and i am afraid of bricking the device by doing so.
If anybody has an idea how to safely get stock spl back on the phone WITHOUT USB-Connection, that would be great.
have you ever tried to hard reset your diamond in steed of flashing it!!!!!!
so you can try to flash it then hard reset (after flashing)
uninstall your active sync or windows mobile device center
do not install your's
download the latest version of active sync(4.5) or wm device center
then connect your phone i tihnk it will work
i had the same problem and i did this steps
now it works good
hope this help you

I did a rom upgrade on an hx2110 - installed successfully, but now the only thing I can get the pda to do is go into Pre bootloader mode (i.e. Pre-BL 1.00.02 blue screen). SO I tried the universal bootloader method - makes it all the way to the flashing portion but then does NOTHING - the terminal simply sits there saying "ready" and does not upload anything - the program sees the correct communication port (ie. usb01 or whatever). HOW do I force an upload???
Thanks!
Rusty
On another note - I had purchased a working 2110 with a good mobo to replace this one if the flash is not repairable - is that a difficult procedure? Unfortunately, the 2110 I purchased was not working, but this may still be in the books at a later time, so some info would help.
Thanks!

Rusty,
You are so lucky that I experienced this problem and solved it on my own. You did not specify what ROM you were loading, but here is the fix:
First you need to get another pocketpc, hx2000 series like yours that is working.
Put that device into white screen bootloader or pre-BL mode (depending on which device you got to borrow)
Ensure that the battery on that device is 100% charged.
Run the original ROM upgrade for the ROM you wish to install (use PDAViet if it's WM6 and use the HP SP32408 to Run it)
Hit all the Ok screens until it brings you to the one that has the "UPDATE" button.
Remove the working Ipaq from the cradle and place it's 100% battery in you own.
Put your Ipaq into pre-BL mode and put it on the cradle. Press the calendar button to activate the usb drivers.
Once it says "USB", Hit the "UPDATE" button and it will load the proper ROM to your IPaq.
When It is done, perform a hard reset by formatting the PS on the device.
Voila!! Your Ipaq is Un-Bricked!! Put in your original battery and charge it up!
Enjoy!!

hi Rustmonkey,
i have the similar things - i made my hx2110 brick when i flashed it with a different language ROM, it went 100% when i flashed the ROM but didn't work at all after that.
the problem is i can get it in the bootloader mode after trying many ways, at the same time the pc can't find any USB device at all.
how to make it work again?
thanks.

You're going to need another hx2000 series to make sure the battery is fully charged - put the battery in and then use the bootloader keystrokes immediately (contacts+itask+reset) - you made need to tap reset a few times while holding the other two to get it to work. After it is in bootloader mode, push the calander button while it is connected to the cradle/usb to get the pc to recognize it

I just saved my hx2110 as per your step by step instruction now.
Thank you very much.
ok, well, I thought they were fixed... now one of them freezes at the bootup screen, even when I do a clean reset... I've tried reflashing multiple times to no avail... any ideas whats going on?
ok, got everything working - reflashed the non-working one back to an original 2003 rom - which made if freeze at boot - then upgraded it via pre-bl to 1.00.00.L - from here, it wouldn't do anything after filling the bar at the boot screen, but it didn't CRASH (as in lights out) - so I ran the pre-bl again and ran the flash program for 1.00.00.L again WITHOUT swapping between the 2495 and the 2110 - just put the 2110 in pre-bl and away we went - flashed, formatted, and booted - then proceed to upgrade to WM6 via 1.00.00.H --> 1.02.00.H --> WM6 - works GREAT!!!
Thanks for the help everyone!
Dear All,
I`ve got the same problem but i don`t have a second ipaq.. is there anyway to repair it with out the second device???
Thank you very much

Hello,
I have run into some problems with a bricked hx2110.
I was flashing the IPAQ to a new ROM WM5 (Battery was full and I read all the instructions 10 times prior to flashing). While flashing, the progress bar went to 100% then faded out immediately and it wouldn't reset (clean reset). I put the battery in my friends hx3000 series and the battery I used was completely dead. It did flash to 100% though, but not matter how many times I try 1 + 3 + reset, it doesn't reboot. If I can figure out how to get it to boot, that would be great, but I can't get anything to come up with any key combinations.
To this point all I can do is get into Pre-BL mode 1.00.04. I have tried the below scenarios on two machines, both running windows XP SP2 (USB 2.0) with the firewall and virus software disabled.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330382&page=4
1) I have tried the above links directions and used the the Universal Bootloader (Bootloader.exe). It gets to the point where it says "The PDA should be updating now" or something similar but nothing happens. I don't get any errors regarding communications (it sees the device when I hold the "Calendar" button until it says USB; windows then recognizes the device as "HP USB ..." so I know it's communicating).
2) I tried to use the Bootloader_GUI.exe beta so that I can watch the progress indicator but it just sits at 0%. There are no error messages so it is communicating but for some reason, the device won't let it flash (and the flash utility thinks it's doing something).
3) I tried the original ROM flash from HP (SP29856.EXE) and it recognizes the device, but because the current ROM on the PDA is hosed, when it does it's "verifying" process, it comes up with "?" marks as the model number and when it goes to flash it starts at .1% then says "FINISHED" immediately. The ROM utility thinks it flashed it correctly but it didn't flash anything. I'm guessing that the verification of the PDA failed and forced the utility to not flash.
Does anyone have ANY ideas of what to try? I wish I had another HX2000 series PDA and try the "swap" thing prior to hitting the update button but I don't. All I have to work off of it my sad bricked PDA and a full battery (friend keeps charging it). His PDA is an HX3000 series.
Any ideas would be appreciated,
Thanks!
Are you using a the HP flash program that is specified for your device?
2nd - you might be able to use your buddies device in a swap as well - not sure but its worth a shot - use HPs upgrade program, let it verify, then swap your device onto the same cable - overwrite the firmware in the update program for HIS device with firmware compatible with yours and then hit update - let us know if this works...
I am using the "official" HP flash program specific for the HX2110 (from their website - SP29856), bootloader.exe, and bootloader_gui.exe
I wanted to try my friends, but he won't let me touch his because I bricked mine lol (I swore nothing would happen to his but he still won't let me try it).
Anyway, I just copied over the ROM image (from HP) and stripped out the header (now showing 64 bytes before the ECEC). The ROM is for WM2003. I copied the ROM in binary using psdwrite.exe to an 256 MB SD card. As soon as I can get the battery back, I'm going to try to flash it from the SD card. If this fails, I am going to try to play around with MTTY / USB and manually call the ROM flash and see what happens.
Having another HX2000 series would make this easy (maybe a little TO easy )!
Bootloader never worked for me - but if you can get it to manually call the flash, more power to you good luck!
Well it was worth a shot. After spending the better part of the day with the PDA, I have made no more progress (can't get Pre-Bl to update). The only option I have now is to find someone with another hx2000 series that is willing to resurrect it from the dead for me (PM me if you can help - I will pay two way fare). Until that happens, it's going in the "broken" drawer with all my old comp stuff .
Thanks to all the tips and tricks that is posted on these forums and brighthand! There is a wealth of information on this topic and without them, I would have gotten nowhere in trying to repair the device (granted, I wouldn't have been intrigued to upgrade the ROM in the first place and would still have a working PDA, but that's besides the point ).
Best of luck to you all.
1).download original ROM from HP (sp29799) -extract files
2) download http://upload.dvhk.pl/content.php?id=88892 - replace files
3) flesh device.

link crash http://upload.dvhk.pl/content.php?id=88892 - replace files

Solved, my hx2100 returns to be in this world
thank you i saved my ipaq
Recently tried upgrading my SPV M3100 from WM5 to black WM6. Everything was going fine and I had installed the following
SPL (Bootloader) version 2.10.Olipro (HardSPL v7)
Radio version 1.43.00.00 (optional)
Was updating to ROM version: Windows Mobile 6 LVSW 160607 when USB cable was disconnected before installation ands I am now left with WM6 screen only
Can anyone help?
If you stuck in the wm6 boot screen and have flashed HardSPL 2.10 already you can just enter the bootloader and reflash your ROM again. Why do you use nearly 6 months old ROM (LVSW)?
Did you try to reflash the ROM?
Just switch to the bootloader and run the update again.
If the updater is complaining about "Not able to do so" you might need another ROM, but that method worked to or three times for me.
Cheers,
Jago
tried raflashing but activesync won't pick up phone
you do not need active sync to pick it up. Just enter the bootloader and run RUU.
how do you reflash without activesync?

Simply - flashing process itself is not done by the Active sync (its icon is grey when flashing). I have tried to flash a ROM this way and it works. You just have to input correct values to the RUU yourself. Bootloader is the tri color screen. You can access it by holding power and ok button while using the stylus to soft reset the device. Hermes will pick up the usb connection.
Please read the WIKI and flash an original WM6/WM5 rom before attempting to flash a cooked rom.. then make sure you know what you are doing before flashing the cooked.

Put your device into bootloader mode.
Connect it via USB to your PC.
Run the RUU on your PC (like if you had Active sync working).
Flash the ROM.
(should work with all cooked ROMs)
Update: I tried it now with the Schaps 4.20 - it is working.
When you run ruu it should create ROMUpgradeUt.exe if it says it fails to find the device just run this. I usually take a copy before clicking to close the error box.
where do u locate RUU.exe
sorry I'm not an expert in this
RUUWrapper.exe should be in the folder with the image you are flashing. Sorry if I confused you saying ruu.
When you download the cooked rom it comes in rar or zip containing 2 files - one with extension .NBH and the second one is RUUWrapper.exe (resource upgrade unit), unpack them to one folder and run RUU.exe Be sure to flash only ROM for your device otherwise you will kill it for good.
tried running RUU but get error 260, i.e. cannot pick up phone on USB
See post 12
yeah, tried running ROMUpgradeUt.exe, but still no joy

If this does not work for you - then you can use flashing from the SD card (no USB needed for this kind of flashing) . But try what markafreeman suggests first.
Lets try some troubleshooting:
Whne you connect your device in the bootloader (red green blue screen) to your pc what does it say?
In the white part of the screen on your device it should say USB - then it will work.
If not you can still try flashing the ROM from the SD card - you will need a card reader though for this kind of flashing.
Please help!
My HTC TP2 freezes at start up with the black screen and the Touch Pro2 Logo and some details in red at the bottom:
B 80
R 4.49.25.17
G 61.44tc.25.32U
D 1.86.67102
No USB connection can be established.
What happened:
1. Tried to update from original WM 6.1 to WM 6.5 by using the official HTC ROM update utility. Seems like USB connection broke during update and update freezed at 42%. Update utility process has stopped by itself (no process visible anymore in the Task Manager).
2. Restarted phone and multicolor screen appeared and stayed. After connecting with USB cable again "USB" appeared at the bottom. Started again the HTC ROM update utility which recognized the phone and started the update process again, but stopped at the beginning with an error message stating something like the ROM is broken.
3. Restarted again (by removing the battery and hit power button) and state reached like described above (HTC TP2 freezes at start up with the black screen and the Touch Pro2 Logo and some details in red at the bottom).
4. Performed a hard reset but did not help.
What can I do to bring the phone back to life?
So you can't or can get in the colored screen now? (the boatloader)
And it's kind of normal that their nothing happens after the tp2 + red information screen, this since their is no rom to startup.
EDIT
Is it possible to tell exactly what error you got?
EDIT
Try to hard reset your device, do you know how to do this?
If not this is how to do it:
To perform a hard reset
1. With the device turned off, press and hold the TALK/SEND, END and POWER buttons until you see this message on the screen.
"This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel."
2. Release the TALK/SEND, END and POWER buttons.
3. Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.
Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=523083
This is just what worked for me..
Had the same issue on my tp...
Hope it will work for you.
Did already the hard reset - but this did not help as nothing changed!
One further info: whenever I insert the battery the device automatically starts up - until it freezes again at the start up.
Can someone please help?
It's normal that the device starts up when the battery is plugged in...
But this is just what I know out of my own experience.
So sorry I can't help you farther.
EDIT
Did some research you might want to try to flash your phone by micro sd... (not for sure if it helps but by some people it did work)
Read the tread about flashing at the top of the rhodium section and you know how to do it.
Did another trial: downloaded and copied a RHODIMG.nbh to the micro sd card, inserted it again and pressed volume up at startup -> colored screen appears shortly, then switches to a white screen telling "Loading..." in blue font color, but nothing more.
Is there anybody out there who can help?
Do I need a specific RHODIMG.nbh to make this approach working? I didn't flash this device before, so it has been still in the original manufacturer's state.

Try entering bootloader by switching off device then switch back on holding down the Vol down key.
If you can enter bootloader this way then you wil be able to flash from SD card following the instructions from here

if you want to flash the Official update from HTC you can extract the Nbh from the Exe file you downloaded from them, just use winzip, Zzip or Win RAR to extract the contents from the Exe you are looking for RUU_signed.nbh..follow the above thread instructions to change the name of the file to RHODIMG.nbh.
I DONT KNOW IF YOU NEED TO HARD SPL FOR THIS..Probably better to do it than not. Can Anyone Confirm???

For future info, from what I have gathered you must hardSPl for all ROM flashes. If the ROM you flash is the stock ROM, you can also revert your SPL to stock. For any other ROM, you must leave your device hardSPL'd.
Hope I helped.

is it possible to connect to active sync in bootloader, cos my phone cannot even boot, it freezes up with a white screen and htc logo.
After entering bootloader you can flash either way, either by ruu package provided by your ROM's maker or running official ruu release or if you have the renamed file on the root of your sd card....I never use sd card flashing and have never had a failed flash...If in bootloader it will not connect with activesync, but device should be recognized by ruu.exe

Hi!
What I have done:
-got a rom which fits to my needs
-downloaded it, renamed it to DIAMIMG.NBH, transfered it to my internal storage
-put the phone into bootloader mode, used MTTY all went well
-boot again... freeze
-initialising rom .... freeze
-trying custom_ruu.exe .. freezes at 0%
-hard reset.. fine, boot.. freeze
-finding the thread about MTYY reading that I should have Hard SPL.. swearing a lot
Is there any possibility to get my phone running again? As far as I have found no info how to install anything without a running sync connection, but without any system on the phone I dont know how to establish any connection other to the bootloader mode
Because you haven't upgraded HardSPL before flashing new custom rom - I think you did brick your phone.
Hello, prl3st
I have solition if you use htc touch diamond ( diam 100 ) but if you did not model HTC Diamond, can go try it.
A possible solution could be:
- Obtain a functional ROM (file that RUU_signed.nbh) interface CustomRUU.exe
- Connect the phone cable to the PC
- CustomRUU.exe starts and pass the first two screens where you wondered if you connected the device and that he give the order to enter in flash mode
- On smartphone: press volume down and reset simultaneously to get in the boot mode. Once you made that follows the instructions on screen.
Possibly if it fails the first step to obtain a version of HardSPL Diamond, copy the file there. Nbh and running ROMUpdateUtility.exe phone connected to PC and a loader.
It should work. Good luck and more attention next time.
yep worked fine with the original ROM from HTC!

Hello,
First instal ActiveSync 4.5 in PC. - if not already installed
Code:

Then in settings in (ActiveSync) disable (NOT check): "allowed to connect to one of the following port" and "Allow connection to USB".
Perhaps the translation is correct. I use the CZ version. But it's second and third check box.
Now
This works for when the Universal is in Bootloader and Windows Mobile.
1. First download the ROM you want to install.
2. Extract it to a folder (use winar or other extraction software).
3. There will be up to 3 ROMs in the package: ms_.nbf (Extended ROM), nk.nbf (OS ROM), radio_.nbf (Radio ROM)
4. Delete those which you don't want to install. (If you just want to upgrade the radio rom for instance delete ms_.nbf and nk.nbf and leave radio_.nbf.)
5. Download UniversalRUU.zip
6. Extract it and copy into that folder the nbf files you want to install.
7. Enter BootLoader mode by pressing and holding the power button and backlight button whilst performing a reset with the stylus. And plug to PC. Wait few seconds.
8. Doubleclick ROMUpgradeUt.exe and follow the instructions
9. When the upgrade is finished pull out the USB cable from the Universal.
10. You will need to do a soft reset OR hard reset depending on the situation. (note: some say do a soft reset / others a hard reset .. possibly someone with more knowledge could correct me here, but until then it's best to investigate the matter for yourself on the forum.)
11. To do a hard reset (push the two menu buttons ("-") on the keyboard + the reset button at the same time (all of this three). Doing a hard reset will result in you losing all your installed apps and data so ensure you have a backup of everything first.) Everything should be fine from this time. You have to calibrate the screen and do some tutorial...
12. If after doing a hard reset you want your Universal not to install the extras from the Extended ROM wait untilsetup is complete and then do a softreset when the popup window appears (you have 3 seconds before it installs ExtendedROM)
For a long time I have not installed the new ROM. I remember so I proceeded as follows
