Any way to change ESN of Diamond CDMA? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

Is there anyway of changing the ESN no. of HTC Diamond CDMA version just like we changed ESn of Touch (Vogue).
Please tell me how if there is any.
thanks

Yes, but it's illegal.

the CDMA diamond does not use ESN anymore instead MEID is used. Even though you do see an ESN # but its a pESN.

If I'm not mistaken on my reading of the technicals of MEID, the tower only verified the pESN in the verification process. And the way MEID converts to pESN, it leaves the possibility open of later on down the road having clashing pESN's. Technically, I think you only need to make sure the pESN needs to match up with whatever you're trying to change it to. Again, it is illegal. Just trying to provide the necessary technical info.

Why would someone want to change their meid?
Why would someone want to change their meid?

any more information on this topic? i bought a Touch diamond cheap on ebay from the states nd want to use my telus vogues ESN/information on it... any ideas? i tried CDMA Workshop but it didnt work

Of course it didn't work with CDMA Workshop. Diamond has no diag port atm.
There are already hacks for changing nvitems in diamond (such as ESN),
but due to security reasons and a high risk of bricking the phone, we won't publish them here, sorry.
Cya,
Viper BJK
P.S.:
Neither MEID nor pESN nor ESN is used anymore. It is a HWID.
As the change of these items is illegal, we won't discuss them here.

if u change the MEID to the esn it will work.
i have cloned my MEID to my treo which origionally had an ESN and it connects to the network and makes calls no issues. i use my treo as my beater phone.

nah Luckily, HTC left ours wide open via EPST
very nice of them i must say

Yeah, that's really nice. But who know if the newer ones will also have diag port open.
If you need any feature added to QMAT for CDMA, let me know
Cya,
Viper BJK

alright so i found out how to read nvitems and which ones i want to edit but i cant get them to write to the phone... (QMAT says successfully written buh its still unchanged wen i display it, QPST says that there write-protected or read only)... any ideas? i did SuperCID it and tried the open sesame door folder trick to get access to the nvm folder buh those didnt work
QMAT EFS browser tells me all the files in the nvm folder are unrestricted but i cant write to it either... gives me an unknown error
I also tried doing Backup and restoring the untouched backup and QMAT came out with about 50 bad data errors.... so im guessing my only problem is that i cannot write nvitems... any ideas?
i feel like im so close lol

Did you try using QPST? Open the NVM folder with EFS explorer and copy the $SYS.ESN file to your computer. Edit that like this post http://www.mobile-files.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34392 and copy it back to the phone. Let me know if it works.

No did not work... there is no $SYS.ESN in my Diamond nvm folder... thx though

You need a correct SPC + SP to change, otherwise it won't work.
Cya,
Viper BJK

is there a $SYS.MEID ?

I know my SPC but how to i find the security password?
thanks in advance

SP is FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF for Diamond.

what do you mean by sim unlocking ? tell us wich tools wich exe you run and why and when it resulted on a dead phone. a simunlock will not make your device turn off and unable to boot it again. where u got this file from ?????
please be more precize
Try to send it to RMA, warranty issue.
If you've got no warranty .... there might be soon a solution for jtagging / repairing it, but it will need good soldering experience and additional hardware.
Cya,
Viper BJK
P.S.: No matter what "unlock" he tried, new devices have improved security, so current hard spl or oemsbl hack might not work due to newer hardware or better protection
The one i use was a link from this forum, its call Diamond Unlock.

If you've flashed the CDMA unlocker and you've got a GSM device, say goodbye
Try RMA or wait for JTAG solution.

1) if you got the CDMA hardspl... I made that one, and I *EXPLICITLY* mention in my post there that it WILL brick a GSM diamond. I guess people just will never learn to read

2) that is nothing to do with SIM unlock either. if you need that, get it from http://diamond.htc-unlocks.com/
3) interesting note... apparently just running the CDMA SSPL will already brick GSM diamonds, because I saw another case, where it was confirmed the RUU didn't even get to flash, and we know of course that it cannot because of the different modelid. so, just by running that exe it kills the GSM diamonds, maybe I'll integrate some check in the hardspl program to check diamond model before loading SSPL. but until then, people had better read more carefully.
that's an expensive paperweight ^^
well it could be used for more than paperweight... if RMA is not an option, viperbjk needs a bricked diamond for JTAG experiments.
lol ^^
donations accepted... money or phones!
i'll send it back as Dead on arrival... down to the supplier to sort it out
lolll, this is funny no doubt! Maybe this needs to be a sticky! An example of searching, reading and comprehending fully before doing any type of hacking to your phone!
Any news?
Has a solution been found for idiots like me that have managed to brick there Diamond?
hello,
I'm also looking for a solution. i can't turn the phone on, i tried hard reset, or taking the battery off....nothing worked.
It's not your fault cmonex.. Indeed, he just didn't read.

CDMA Workshop + AOSP

As it stands right now, NO! The reason behind this is because AOSP roms don't have EPST and in order to get CMAA workshop to work you need to dial one of those codes (can't remember which one because is been a while since I messed with that stuff)
If I were you, I would just Nandroid backup your AOSP rom and flash a Sense Rom to work on CMAA Workshop (Sprint Lovers or any other rom that has EPST....not all have them so ask before you download)

have been trying to find anything on it and cant seem to find any information....
any help would be appreciated..

Still Waiting
I've been waiting on an answer to this question too. Anyone know how to get the 220C to be seen by CDMA Workshop?
if it's an LG device than it needs to be read by LGNPST before it can be read by cdma workshop or qxpd or dfs or w/e.
To get LGNPST to recognize the phone you'll have to find the correct driver for it and install it in the model/mtn folder within the lgnpst folder. I have no idea what driver works for an lg220 though.
good luck googling.

Ok, I flashed the Cyanogenmod 9.0 and the *#*#DIAG#*#* actually worked, i get into the menu that let me select between PDA and CDMA MODEM conection.
BUT!! It kinda doesnt connect like a Samsung Modem or anything like that, it shows me two new devices in the Device manager:
1) In the modems it shows a "VIA Telecom USB Modem"
2) In the Other devices shows "INTF2"
And when I try to connect it to DFS or QPST it doesnt work.
Im shure i need some drivers or something, but i dont know which ones.
Any clue?

Oi, hit thanks instead of reply. O well.
I doubt you'll be able to 'flash' the phone for any other carriers through any menu available through the device itself, if that's what you're intending to do.

Well Its just matter of changing the MSL and the PRL and modifiying the Data parameters and sh*t like that.
And Ive done that like a thousand times with several HTC's Samsungs and Motorolas(Thats actually my second job, seriouslly, i get paid for doing this), I just need to connect it in diag mode and have the drivers.
Which is beeing really hard to do right now
Obviously using my laptop to change the parameters
Same problem
I have been struggling with the same problem for 2 weeks. Have any one found an answer. Can use 'better cut' to write prl, however can use qpst to make internet work.

Uhh, Well I found an answer, but its not a solution yet.
Check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696621
It explains why we can't use QPST...
Well it actually doesnt dierctly explain, but we have VIA Chpisets on our phones, instead of the common Qualcomm Chipset, who owns QPST.
But it also give some instructions about a program for VIA chipsets, ETS i think.
I was also reading in a Droid Charge thread (also VIA chipset) that there is a programm named VPST and VPCT or something like that, its like the "QPST" of the "VIA telecom" chipsets.
I'll try it tonight.
Is your gnex Sprint or Verizon?
Have you tested? Did you get it working? I tried but 'getprop' not showing my MSL code.

I've just made the MSL change to 000000, and switched the PRL to my carrier, but just that. I havent had time to work on anything else.

If its Verizon your MSL is already 000000, if its Sprint you can get the MSL code with a script made by Viperboy

Dont know man, I dont have the Nexus anymore, but for the PRL updating theres an app that makes shortcuts, I cant remember the name right now, i think it something like bettercut or something like that.
You can also flash an ICS rom and update the PRL like you would normally do.

Kidding...
This is a very common issue, and there is a thread in the development section on how to restore your imei.

Hello,
Unfortunately, I'm having the same problem and have been unsuccessful at finding the right forum . After unrooting my Galaxy SGH-T999, I lost service "no service." I also have the circle with the line crossing it, only WiFi is working; Baseband version, Network, Mobile network type, as well as the IMEI appear as unkown. Please help me or re direct me with the link, I have tried everything and nothing.
It's actually not in our section. But with a simple Google search:

Looks like I'll be adding this to the FAQ.
More help please
Thanks for the quick response; however, what is it that I need to do to get back service. Make a backup, restore, or inject imei? Also, i'm having trouble understanding the thread. Is it to much to ask for to give me a little guidance of what exactly is it that I have to do. I'll appreciated it a lot.

I'd ask about what you don't understand in the thread about restoring IMEI.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Well, to be honest I don't know where to even start.
1. I downloaded QPST program
2. AT&T and TMO Phones (or any variant thereof)... I don't know if this applies to my process.
Option1:Using the stock dialer dial *#7284#.... When I do that my phone says: Mobile network not available.
Option 2: Stock ROM w/ unsecured kernal flash this file by drothenberger and geek HERE!... lost there
Install QuickShortcutMaker... don't know where from
Open it and type IOT in the search box... don't know what that is.
Click on the entry that says IOTHiddenMenu / IOTHiddenMenu / com.android.hiddenmenu/com.android.hiddenmenu.IOTHiddenMenu
Click OK..... ???
3. The Following Steps Applies to all phones!
Put phone into RMNET + DM + MODEM mode... what do those abbreviation mean?
IMEI Injection:
If you have lost your IMEI and did not have a backup made this is how PureMotive and I were able to get his IMEI restored.
Open RF NV Item Manager from the bin folder found in Program Files folder/Qualcomm/QPST (RF NV Manager is no longer accessible from the
(open RF and NV?)
start menu or from inside QPST Configuration).
Click on Setting menu in RF NV Item Manager and select Comport.
Select your phone from the list of ports and click ok.
Go to File menu and select Read From Phone.
You will get a list of NV items and their values from your phone.
Look for item NV_UE_IMEI_I it will be item number 550 you can do a search for it using the search.
I'm so upset, disappointed, and mad at myself. I just bought this phone and I already broke it. I been trying to fix it all day and no luck. Please if anyone could make this pain for me. I don't understand the abbreviations or where it is that I need to start.
Thank you

If you're competent enough to root and flash a ROM, you're competent enough to follow Peoplearmy's guide to restoring your 4G. If not, then you you need to go back use Triangle Away to get rid of the flash counter and then Odin back to a factory TouchWiz ROM to erase your evidence of tampering with the phone.
Follow the guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801997. Just remember since people have been making this mistake, you're not done when you inject your IMEI.
-IMEI injection
-Backup
-Restore
