I'm sorry to admit that I am new to this, and have gotten very stuck attempting to flash a new rom.
I am on the splash(tricolor) screen, but my unlock program crashed, and mow I have a rom (.nbh) but can't seem to get it to install on the phone.
The computer ins not recognizing my device.
Is this the right forum to ask?
any help is greatly appreciated.

If your device is an HTC then you are in the right place

Hi guys, my brother sent me up his HTC Desire in the mail asking me to fix it. Now I'm pretty **** at fixing android phones so I don't really know what to do. He tells me he started to root it but the cable came out half way through. Don't ask me what he was using to root it because neither of us know.
When I boot holding VOLUME DOWN + POWER this screen shows up:

Factory Reset does nothing.
I think doing a recovery might be able to fix it but I have no idea what to download.
If anyone can help fix this for me I will appreciate it so much, I have been searching the internet for hours and can't find a solution...
P.S. The device won't show up in Odin or in Windows explorer if that helps at all.
He's S-Off. All he needs to do is fastboot flash a recovery.img, then flash a ROM from there and he's good.

Honestly, if my brother borked his phone, not known what he did, not figured out how to fix it himself, and wanted me to do it for him, I wouldn't do it. You're a better person than I am.

I joined that IRC but you never replied. I'll try and read this guide but I don't know how relevant a lot of it is actually going to be.
ok using the following command.
fastboot getvar all
this will help out some what. Does selecting anything in Hboot cause the phone to freeze if not then its just a matter of getting a recovery on. If you do get freezes then it could be borked.
s-off
I recommend going to s-off it.Then up another rom see if overcome
I thought I could do it, root the phone and install jellybean or something.
Not only I couldn't, but I ****ed the whole device up. I'm really sorry for my ignorance, I turned out to be a complete idiot.
I have no idea what to do now, I followed every possible tutorial to downgrading to froyo and one of them suggested something with PD98IMG.zip.
So following that tutorial, I remember putting the zip file to the SD card..
After a few hours, following another tutorial I opened HBOOT, and it suddenly asked me if I'd want to update my device with this PD98IMG.zip.
As an idiot, I did.
And now, instead of an HTC boot I have "SoftBank" boot and the phone is in japanese, and I can only access emergency calls. can't even get to the homescreen past the unlock screen.
Please, can anyone suggest something? [inbefore going to repair the phone..]
Edit: Managed to get it working only on airplane mode, otherwise it's on an emergency call only mode.. It's still softbank though [while mine is originally HTC Europe]
Sorry, I'm double posting but this is really serious
I got it to be set to airplane mode and that's the only way to use my phone currently.
[otherwise I only have the emergency dialer, and the lock screen]
And, the phone thinks I'm from japan and all my sugestions are to japanese people..
Is there a way to change my carrier back from Softbank JP to Europe?

Here's the background:
I'm rooted and tried to install TWRP but what happend was when i booted into recovery from GOOMANAGER, it took me to stock recovery and now I'm stuck!
I'm used to samsung and htc phones (being able to bring them back to life after soft-bricks) but this is my first LG phone and don't know what to do!
Please help or point me in the right direction. Much appreciated, thank you in advance

can someone please help me i think i hard bricked my samsung galaxy s3 for at&t and i need some to tell me how to unbrick it or any body that can do it for me. i am willing to pay up to 30 dollars but i just need to do this please help

Well i tried installing a rom but im a noob to all this rom stuff so was installing then it said failed so i just put reboot and from there on i couldent do anything and i went online and i think its hard bricked

This should really go over in the S3 forums, correct location and the people over there are more likely to be able to help you. I reported the topic to a moderator and hopefully they'll get you taken care of.
what rom did you flash, because if you flashed a rom for another phone, your fear is confirmed. i have done the same thing with my last phone.
i have heard of some phones using odin, and other tricks on youtube, but usually after wiping a phone ,like you did, there is little you can do to fix it.
I need Help. I have tried all day to figure this out. I am about to chuck both stupid ass computers and my phone out the window. I need to return to stock and locked to return my phone to Verizon as I received a CLNR device.
I started with the Return to Stock thread. Followed the instructions (downloaded the most recent version i could find since the link in the op isnt working) . Re locking the bootloader went fine. But when I go to flash the RUU i get an error everytime. It gives the loaded target size then I get error cannot load *filename* : no error . No matter what i do. I have tried every version of RUU I can find, flashable , exe whatever. I cannot get anything to load. If any one can be of any help I would appreciate it . I cannot figure out what the hell im doing wrong. Or if you have an easier to follow guide with current links. IDK Im lost at this point...

I DID IT!!! YAY!!
I stepped away for awhile. Finally got adb working on my good laptop. Re downloaded the files. And I can now safely return my phone stock/locked/s on . I appreciate the offer to help!!
