[Q] emulator for rom - P3600 ROM Development

is there an emulator for see the rom in your pc before flashing them into ppc?
thanks in advance

I'm glad you asked this question. I've wondered this for some time. I've tried the WM6 emulator, but it does not use the P3600 specific hardware, just a generic WM device, and you cannot flash ROMs to it. Would be cool to try cooked ROMs on an emulator first.

i want to know this as well.
yeah, would be good to know what we're getting before we actually flash our phone

VM Ware?
Could you make a VMware image? My mate uses emus for his PIX images when testing.

I thought of that too, but could not figure out how to emulate the hardware. I haven't yet seen a VMWare emulator for the Trinity CPU, USB, Memory, etc...
If you figure it out, I'm all ears!!!

I want to learn how to cook a rom

I want to learn how to cook a rom but i dont know where to start. whats the best programme to use? any tutorals? please help
Search for Kitchens.
You use kitchens to cook roms.
The wiki has lots of information to ramp your base knowledge.
I second the suggestion to Search for Kitchen, both in the forums and the wiki. It's all here.
Then the easiest place to start is with matts Pandora Kitchen.
Then as you get more comfortable , I like Core Kithen, he even includes a tutorial.
A great search tool that I use:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298893
It keeps me from asking questions that have been asked a thousand times.
Best kitchen documentation is available in Wizard forum. Download Faria's kitchen and read the instructions with it. Cooking concept is the same for both the devices, just the OS is different.
Once you have the knowledge, you can try matt's Pandora or RomDonald's
PS: Do not use wizard kitchen to cook a hermes ROM
is there any progamming language you need to learn before starting or is it all part of the kitchen?

no, it's moving files around, running applications, and clicking checkboxes. Super easy once you get rolling.
is there a good tutoral for these things or is a lot of it just trial and error. any good tips? dont want to risk bricking my device more than i have to.
im also running windows vista will that limit my choices?

Again, what kind of reading in the wiki, or the kitchen threads recommended in the above posts?
is there a kitchen that runs on vista? i was tring to downgrade the reinstall to dual boot with xp but it says theres no hard drive whe i try to install so i need one comatable with vista
Download the pandora kitchen....give that a bit of a play with.
I am interested in where can I find base OS roms. I would like to cook my own rom and for example to use build 5.2.2000 WM6. Where can I find it?

I dont think .2000 has been ported yet for hermes...if you can port it for hermes, then you are a chef (like faria or Schap's, etc)...but for us cooks, find the ROM you like (eg. Schap's 4.0 or Pandora's, etc), extract OS and start playing with it.
so far ive read up on the pandora kitchen post and the others suggested in this post. it seems like the easyest to use it the pandora kitchen but it dosnt seem to run. the build os programme stops responding. im currently downloading the latest .net but it might be because i have vista. i cant downgrade to xp due to a problem with my hard drive. should be getting a new one this week but would like not to have to dual boot to save hard drive space plus i like vista.

To ensure you have configured the kitchen correctly (ie put the components in the correct location after downloading), try downloading the Pandora Naked kitchen from it's rom thread (in my sig). It's a complete package - so extract it into a folder and try running BuildOS. If it fails - it's your PC. If it works - it's the way you assembled it.

6.1 kitchen

Im looking for a rom kitchen that will work for wm6.1 does anyone know what would be the best one that'll work with vista?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363721
I think that's the only one.
Matt took his down.
here's matts: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365604
ive tried both and they dont work ive been using the earlyer versions of the pandora kitchen but even that wont work now
Maybe it's because of this forums current ftp issues, see the "Announcement: FTP Problems!" at the top of this Hermes Mobile 6section.
I've created a basic rom with Matts on Vista Pro. You need to make sure you have the re-distributables installed

I'm with you my friend!
he he.. most of our developers have switched to other forum, got newer devices & developing android for other devices...
Now you still with trinty and please BE one of our the developers... now i'm still learning about compiling/ tweaking kernel & stuff.. so will you, learn..
kinda gotta agree with u there.. my Trinity's been collecting dust on my desk ever since I got my Blackstone...
...that is until I flashed it to WM6.5 today and put it on-par with the blackstone (on OS anyway)...
I say wait for Android to get a bit more mature first on other HTC devices...it's still such a young OS, it's fast because it has practically nothing yet compared to the current gen WM OS.
Yeah, I want Android on my Trinity as well Hope some developers start working on this...we will be very grateful
I hope to try android on my trinity too. Please mention the good and bad if anyone had tried the rom especially memory after first boot. thanks.
Well, android on Artemis seems to be moving very well

It seems to be harmless to try running Wing Linux (and Android) on any OMAP850 device
http://apps.sourceforge.net/trac/wing-linux/wiki
Welcome to our project wiki. We aim to bring Linux and Google's Android operating systems to the T-Mobile Wing, HTC Herald / Atlas platforms and many other OMAP850-based devices.
Nobody tried it on Trinity?
androkkid worked well on my htc trinity
hello to everybody..i tried firmware called androkkid developed by Simosoft (windows android emulator) and it worked very well...
Androkkid is just a new Windows Mobile interface, but not the ROM
So it's irrelevant
It's much more interesting to start a real Android on HTC

Replacing Linux with Windows Mobile

I'm asking that anyone could change OS system of PDA. I have a PDA "Porient H9" which is XScale 524Mhz running Linux OS. Is it possible to change the OS to WM? The specifications of this PDA like Athena, is it possible to flash Athena ROM to this machine? Thanks.

Basicly it's possible to change OS, but in this case it's impossible - NO WM ROM exist for this device.
And never ever try to flash any other ROM that is not designed for Your device.

Thanks for your reply. I have this idea because I found no software to support this OS and it becomes totally useless. It would become useful if the OS is WM. I want to flash Athena ROM because their specifications are very much alike. But I don't know how to get into bootloader mode. Hope any expert here can help me.

YOU CAN'T FLASH ATHENA ROM!!!
Drivers are different and similar hardware doesn't mean anything.
Never try to flash any other device ROM, because You will brick it.

Looking for a simple ROM

while i know all the rage is with the TouchFLO and other GUI's, i really don't want them. I like SPB Shell so much better since it's very customizable as to where and what you want on your screen.
with that being said, i would like a simple ROM with just the basics like:
internet sharing
3d drivers (if possible)
VC
contacts
camera
remote desktop
active sync
adobe
comm mananger
IE (with PIE)
java
notes
pictures and vid
sim manager
voice recorder
ZIP and
GPS apps (quick gps and maybe tomtom or garmin).
no opera or youtube or fancy tele-pad (it actually interferes with Privus Caller-ID). I install a lot of my own apps like Core Player and games.
is there such a ROM for a user like me? I find all these extra UI's to take up a lot of space which otherwise can be used more efficiently.
if there is such a ROM, please direct. Thanks!!

thanks!! i actually searched and must have missed that. my bad. thanks for the great link. will try today.
Hi, i dont like 6.5, tried 3 ver, and don't like it at all.
Is there some completely verified and lite ver 6.1
Don't have the nerves to download and try couple of them...
Please...
try the lite versions of either ENERGY rom or GEN Y rom they are dependable roms
but i would like to reinstate that roms are ery personal things and experiences vary among users depending on their core needs...
ALL THE BEST n PEACE
Thx,
i used Dia Duit ROM v1.6.7 "official" - based on 2.11.70.1
If it's not sutable, I;l try it.
Quick question on clarity:
IF i download the RUU, do I still have to hard-SPL my diamond? i don't seem to understand what Hard-SPL is used for if RUU is packaged in the ROM upgrade.
any unofficial ROM and u need hard SPL
OK, so i tired to get Hard-SPL to get on my Diamond and failed.
apparently i have hard-spl 1.93 vs. 1.23/24?!?!????
what are my options now? i would like to try different radios (maybe even the polaris' radio since i get GPS lock no longer than 2 minutes while the diamond 1.00.25.08 takes... well, if it did would be a miracle).
how now brown cow? what can i do now to get newer/better radio roms?
thanks!!
