Take your pick. There's plenty on the forum here, and they all work (some better than others). Just do a search and spend some time reading.

dude
there are roms called "for JasJam" but I think there are wm6 roms
here http://www.imate.com/Support_DeviceSupport.aspx?key=d82017df-dae6-4b67-948c-c875e3cb5ec7&cmd=roms
listen to other guys - try roms called differently - like Hermes

hmm
It saddens me that this sorta posts still pop up after Veyka's hard work! You are obviously a lurker and have posted a few, with this thread you've posted 11. Please do some reading I have a jasjam and I am loving my ROM, there is no such a thing as an official ROM for the jasjam, nor there will ever be I don't think, at least I am not holding my breath.

I would eat my hat of an official WM 6.1 build came out for the hermes! (aka, there not going to, IT would eat into sales of the touch pro ect, why get one if the hermes did the same thing and was a lot cheaper!)
However much time/effort you put in.. people will still ask.. (a lot less though..!!)

Go easy on us new ppl please... There is so much info on this site its overwhelming and us nubs don't understand all the lingo...
Also remember that ther are threads with over 1000 posts, so when you say "go do some reading" that could take a while...
When I followed the wiki and other 'how-to' guides here, I got it wrong heaps of times as I just didn't understand the instructions...
For new windows mobile users stumbling across this site after a google search, words like flashing and rom and bricking/unbricking and bootloaders and spl etc etc will be quite intimidating...
I've noticed heaps of talking down to newbs from some senior members... Please stop...

The point is that you see the same question asked a million and one times, when you answer the same question 5++ times it gets annoying.. even more so when you have spent many hours trying to stop them being asked!
The guides mrvanx wrote, the FAQ I did, should answer this question without having to read more than 4-5posts..
Maybe I will update my FAQ a little now anyway though..

The biggest thing I had to overcome was the terminology... And I'm a computer geek and still had to get my head around what you guys were saying... So maybe an xda dictionary & acronym buster?

I suppose I can work on one.. Ill have a look to see if there isnt one that I can link to allrdy.
SEE HERE (added to faq)

Don't get me wrong, it's all good help here... just so damned much of it...
I only got my jasjam weeks ago and I've tried around 15 roms.
Hard spl was a pain for me as I just didn't get my head around what the how-to was saying... But I got there...

I only had my jasjam since april 2008, and the only thing that kept me going was mrvanx guide to upgrading, man that was fun times flashing roms, but yeah I have found the two chefs I like, and one may be returning one hopes it is soon.

Can anyone provide me with MW 6.1 upgrade for I-mate jasjam/hermes?

hehehe okay...my bad...
But I got problem flashing my babe for the last two month...I think...

Hmm....
A little help will be much appreciated.....

Ok now you're getting silly, there is no official 6.1 for the jasjam. The wiki and my 4shared will give you the official WM 6.0 pro ROM, but none of them is a 6.1.

Comparison Table PLEASE!

Can we have a sticky comparison table of all WM6 flavors?
It's just really getting harder and harder to pick with ones to try out or which one we should focus on. I really like the new COOKED ROMS but still don't know what is the advantages of using one over the other!
Also maybe having a comparison table will help build the SUPER ROM! All the cooks collaborating would be awesome for everyone...
What do you guys think?
So here's what I started!
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Cooked_ROMs
See Comparison Chart!
I think you should put on your flame suit....
Like anything in this "hobby", its a matter of taking time and reading. Compare the differences between the versions, read the threads.
From what ive seen in my fairly short time here, if you want quick easy answers or if you want someone to make the decision for you.... then XDA developer forums might not be the right place for you.

Please read the FAQs, Wikis, and the various release notes. To get a better picture yet, install it yourself. This is pretty much a self help forum, screaming in such a way is only going to invite lots of flames.
If you think the comparison is good and since it isn't there. Why don't you come up with it? I am sure all the n00bs will benefit.

I have installed all of them and I was going to start a comparison table myself but with the way its changing almost everyday it seems to make more sense to have the cooks update their own table!
I am a newbie too and don't want to make a mistake on such comparison table. I think the senior members or cooks are more fit to produce it.

Cheers for wasting 2k of our bandwith custel. This shows that you can't be orignal as people have been saying in your thread (eg black). And i have seen maby its time for you to put on your suit. </rant>
To the poster:
Mate the best thing you can do is read, the wiki, and threads. I personally think its a grrat idea. If you got some time have a play in the wiki and see what you can do.
Im sure if you ask the cooks (in their relevand threads and not via PM) they would be happy to tell you what they believe the posatives and negatives (lol) or their roms are.
Then maby you can flash them and make a wiki page for future people that are asking the Big Question.

read the release notes if you want to compare different wm6 distributions.
It's actually difficult to get an easy answer to what you're asking. Comparison chart is tough to write up at this point (or ever) i think.
I know some people will respond/brush you off and say "read the wiki" but as someone who was in a similar situation, I find that the wiki stinks for a beginner.
Hermes Wiki is a lot more valuable after learning your way in the forums and reading the individual ROM threads, past and present. After that, the wiki starts to make sense and becomes a great way to learn about the developments and modifications.
I would read the boards for a couple of days before doing anything and get a feel for what each developer is trying to do. After that, start going through the wiki and see what you want to do with your device.
After that, I personally installed the different ROMS (after taking the appropriate precautions against bricking the device) and actually trying them out in the field. I still have mixed feelings about which ROM is best for ME but so far i have narrowed it down to the Black and Custel cooked ROMS. (This was after a couple of weeks!)
And it is also true that this site isn't really for someone to get in, pick out the "best" cooked rom and then get out. It's more of a long term committment in my opinion.
Hope that helps and good luck.

If there was a sticky entry for the polls it would be nicer to have too!

The ELF is in the house!

After a short, and forced, vacation I'm back! LOL Anyways.. My ELF rom will be recooked shortly. Primary support will STILL be at htc-devs.com (I like it there ). It is a totally different style of rom cooking.. Mostly relying on extrom and .cabs to allow for greater end-user flexibility. My rom won't be for everyone, but, it should allow for a nice option--unique from other roms on here.
Creativity is the name of this rom..

There ARE newbies like myself, who bricked their phones upgrading (I had a PC crash) and figured out how to fix it by going through the WIKI even though some create threads doesn't mean every newbie does it :>
n00bs are critical to the success of XDA-Developers. We tolerate and help them because our best developers were once n00bs. Devices are constantly changing and our "experts" constantly change too.
When m$ officially releases WM6 this forum will die back down to what it is 99% of the time. Then we will quietly begin taking apart the next generation of hardware and will start looking at the next generation of Windows Mobile.
The n00bs that we tolerated will drift away except those who can contribute. You will never find this on forums with zero n00b tolerance.
I dont think n00b has EVER turned into something useful, however once we were all newbies (yes there is a difference) who didnt know what we were doing, but wanted to learn how, not sit there demanding 'HI LOL GIVE ME GUIDE FOR TO PUT MW^ ON MY SONY ERICSSON NOW LOL' then five minutes later 'WHY IS NOONE REPLY YET? HELP ME NOW'.

In the strictest definition you are correct. I'm a half full glass kind of guy tho and I'm always thinking one will switch over. I'm sure that somewhere this has happened. More importantly, n00b bashing means that some newbies may be afraid to post and might just quietly slink away...
The great thing about the internet and the millions of subject based forums is that folks from all over the world can get together and share information on the subject of their choice. This free flow of information coupled with our fast paced lifestyle does lend to folks wanting to ask rather than search since they see it as the fastest way to get the information they seek. For the most part a gentle nudge in the right direction is all they need. The downside is that forums also provide a venue for those who lack knowledge to demonstrate their self perceived superiority anonymously. It's far easier and less costly to ignore a post that you think doesn't deserve a response. If you feel the need to reply you should respect the individuals who are providing the equipment, time, and bandwidth that makes the forum you are using possible. You do this by posting intelligent and informative responses.

Turn on without battery

Hi.
It's possible to turn on BA without battery inside but when it's connected to AC/Usb? How can I do it?
as far as i know it's not possible. but a battery doesn't cost much nowadays.
EDIT: btw, i wouldn't expect much help here. either everybody is dead or they just dont give a damn.
no it is just, that the question is redundant, take out the battery, put in the charger cable and try it out, that is way faster than asking on the internet. if you had at least told us, what the general idea behind that is, there would be further help.

i didn't mean specificly his post. i ment more generally. since it appears that i'm the only one reading this forum. however it might be related to the age of the blueangels. since they're so old nobody uses them anymore. ergo, no help with issues.
EDIT: i was thinking of buying a new one since mine died. but when the is no "fanbase" so to speak, its qute a waste of money.
LED light orange color but nothing more. Device is off and cannot turn it to WM. I heard there is hardware hack that allow to use BA on cable but you must connect 3 pins that really connects to battery

i feel a bit offended, since on the last 10 pages in each section of the blueangel subforum, there is practically no post, that i didn't read, in fact, if you had a look at some threads, you would see, that most of the last posts in those threads are solutions, offered by either me or egzthunder, which is why i have 600 posts. actually, there is no issue going unsolved here, and you will see there are a lot of very active members here.
sorry that this was not a very constructive post.

if i offended you i apoligize. however i haven't seen you anyware else then the upgrade and wm6 subforum. just to point out what i mean, my thread was the first for nearly a month without posts. so it looked like the blueangel subforum was pretty much dead.
that is true, actually. the blueangel accessories sction is not frequently used as well. you see, most people don't come here very frequently, just to check for new roms, so they visit the wm6 section, when something goes wrong while upgrading to those roms, they post in upgrading, there are hardly any general blueangel issues these days, or people in need of wm2003 support. also there are no new accessories coming out. also, since a general questions and answers thread is also to be found in the wm6 section, most people come there for problems.
but you are right, it seems, these days most people just come for the roms and how to get them flashed, and hardly anyone really appreciates the device itself. many people left the blueangel section to go on to the universal of one of the new devices. there was a thread "do you still use your blueangel (as a phone)" some months ago, that als showed that many people moved on and just have the blueangel to play around with.
also, now that i think i fully understood the intention behind your last post, there really was no reason to be offended, it was obviously due to a misscommunication.

the thing is that the blueangel is still a very competitive unit. too bad nobody uses the anymore. and i think i'll just copy paste my thread to the upgrading forum, maybe i'll have more luck there. since i died just minutes before being flashed to wm6.
that is true, maybe some hardware aspects are outdated, like qvga, wi-fi B only (also no newer encryptions) and it lacks G-Sensor, GPS and other gadgets, but it is a solid pda, a great phone, and since the software is always up to date, you can still make fun of people with an iphone for spending hundreds while our device is better in many ways and just costs 50
BlueAngel for his year of production is awesome and still hangs medium level in all other phones. I think much of them are dead and there's not much owners of it. I am using Universal too and it's not best at all but i like it. I think it depends of how much you like this phone not functions or whatever. Classics are always good.
Okay. Anyone know is it really posssible to turn it on when battery isn't inside? And something about in post #5?

sorry mate, didnt mean to hijack your thread anyways if you have one of those transformators. you know, the one you use in chemistry or physics. you connect it to 230 or 110v and you can set the voltage and ampere. simply hook it up to the unit. the thing they use in CSI to resurrect dead phones.

[Q] What does XDA stand for?

I've been here for a few months but I still don't know what the three letters XDA stands for. I searched around and didn't find any answers. Quite odd.
Xtreme Developers... Awesome!
Nah, it is really the first device that the forums were started for, IIRC.

The first PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants) originally did not have any radio hardware. Soon they had bluetooth and infra-red connectivity but they did not evolve into "smartphones" until they got given radio for telephone and 2G data modem. So, O2, the British network provider (now part of Spain's Telefonica) contracted HTC to build such a device and so released the XDA (i.e. a PDA with the "X Factor" - telephony and 2G data hardware); hence the XDA was born in 2003.
I didn't get the XDA because it had a great big antenna sticking out of the top. I waited and got the O2 XDAII (aka HTC Himalaya) in 2003 http://www.gsmarena.com/o2_xda_ii-697.php.
There's a lot of love on these forums for HTC because they were the original pioneers of the smartphone.
Guys should make it into something hahaha XDA is pretty sick!

there is more if you speak about the history!
before o2 devices there was a period when win phones were on the market. when xda was introduced by o2, competitors (like tmobile, etc) had MDA (mobile digirtal assistant), VDA (vodafone digital assistant) and others probably. first users on this forum did not knew that they are using the same devices (in terms of producer) and this is how xda-developers appeared.
my first phone was a qtec (htc) unbranded, with windows ce - a test device from a friend, microsoft emplyee.
this forum was started when the need of the community appeared. it used to be a great forum! without the need of sayign something, I was simply searching for info, find it and use it. now... even if I am a member since 2006 I have to post some useless thoughts to have the right to read the forum posts! I think is pitty and only shows what the rulles say: no better alternative! I would ask: of who?
anyhow, is nice to remember the xda as I knew it! I did not thought that enybody of present users and owners will care about it.
PS: as an example of what the forum is: I got the error of not bein allowed to post a link!!! I wasn't posting any link, it was just the one in the quote! again, is easyer to make rulles when you are not able to think of a better alternative...

I started coming across this site, via internet search, as far back as 2004 but never became a member until I needed to download stuff and contribute posts. The membership count was going up uselessly because people were registering just to download stuff. Now, I believe, you can download from the forums even without being a member. This makes the membership numbers a more true figure.
The 10-post rule applies to development forums only, I think. You can still post on the device specific forums but in the Q&A and General sub-forums. The intention is to stop people from asking questions, not related to development, in the dev threads.
haha i was wondering the same thing. a google search led me here. enlightening!
