Help the new members to choose...
my opinion
the best rom for my needs is my own cooked version of PDAVIET 3.00.07.09
i just added to it some tweaks and apps to MY liking... but to me its the best ROM ive tried so far from the bunch... the AX3L ROM which i used before, was also great, the only problem i have with this great work is that its not based on the dopod release and gives me trouble with my local customization...
i hope it helped

Thanks for the thread
I'm a newbie and i want to install a wm6 based ROM on my Trinity, but I don't know which one...
P.S. May be (IMO) you have to specify in a better way the title of the thread to result more comprehensive

Yes, I got what you said.
The thing is that what is the best ROM for you, doesn't have to be the best ROM for the next person. It very much depends on the type of user that you are and the what features the user is looking for.
So you could create a table or a matrix which shows the features per ROM. This would definitely be a great startingpoint.
Always the same question ... And the better answer is try yourself for having your own opinion : the best rom is different depending on your needs...So try and post your feedback...But that sort of question is useless !!!

I don't think that the question is useless, cause the features, the bugs, the speedness of a ROM are not an OPINION....
I think that made a table with pro, cons , bugs and features of each ROM is USEFULL for a great part of the community, in particular for the newbies like me. Thanks and sorry for my English

If you take the time to read the tread of the differents Roms (i know it's difficult to read for someone...) ... You will know which bugs are in which Rom ... So...I persist..i'm sorry but i'm still thinking it's useless
You'll see if you read each ROM thread that some people say it's quicker than others, it all depends on what you're using it for, what apps you want to install.
In the end, asking everyone which the best ROM is, is pointless, because as shym says, the only way to fins out is to TRY them all.
It takes 10 minutes to flash a new ROM, half an hour to install all the apps, use it for a day, flash another one the next day, try for yourself, it really is the best way.
what is a pro to 1 person is a con to another
I agree with shym - interesting that most senior members have the same opinion. You will find the pros and cons of each ROM by reading their threads. (If you can't be bothered to do that - this forum probably isn;t for you).
and if not - try out different ROMs for ourself - you'll learn a lot - it's worth it.
... I'm not the thread mader but for me an overview table of all the cooked ROMs is usefull.
Ok without pro and cons (cause are personal opinions) but alt least the features and the bugs cold be added.
If all the community don't think so, My best apologise to all
don't you think that anyone that will make that table will put inside his own personal opinion? you will have a table with only one person as jury. pretty useless huh?
I like mun_rus TE and i don't like Axel's rom. why? just because. is my opinion.
and maybe I'm wrong because many people love Axel's rom. how could that be helpful? just try yourself some available roms and you will get the best opinion.
the best opinion for YOU I mean

If you add your own opinion to the fact, yes, it becomes blurry and useless. But if you state facts (installed software, cutomizations etc)... I would love to see such an overview.
Yea, alright, i know, there hv been many threads abt which the best ROM is in ur opinion, but none of them hv really continued and provided some usefull opinion, so Im creatin a poll ova here, and post your opinions abt different ROMS and why you like them and why you use them and pros and cons.... if you don have so much time, or u think its better to read their description or try em out, atleast vote in the poll, its not a really tough thing im asking you to do...
EDIT: Anyone wanting to vote for a version previous to ones listed plz do, in the same option, eg: AX3L or LVSW's and if you like a ROM not listed here, plz do mention it.

but you figured that your poll would be different - that everyone would vote and comment and that something useful would come of it.
OK fairy play to you - I encourage anyone who feels the same to boycott this thread. Sorry AK - no offense meant - but creating 5 threads for the same thing - I just can't see the point. Your last post was in another thread created today on the same topic.???????
Is it me or what?
this poll is great - a third of voters currently think the best ROm is one that does not yet exist!
You lot wouldn't be taking the p**s by any chance?
I like that "i dont understand english" hehehehe great voting
wow, dude, yea, everyone has their own opinions and I created this thread for the benifit of those ppl who are new here, and want to knw which is the best ROM to suit their needs, and yea it is funny that ppl have voted for ingigo's full version, but its because of their trust on mUn, or they already knw it gonna be good, because the FULL edition is just the lite edition plus more apps.
And yea, I posted in another thread created for the same reason, because it wasnt goin anywhere and it didnt have a poll.
And yea, everyone has their own opinion so I respect those ppl who find this thread useless, but till then, the ppl who think otherwise can continue voting and utilize this thread...
How about adding "Shipped ROM" to the poll?
What about PDAVIET ROMs why can I not express my preference for those ROMs? Also - my favourite AX3L ROM is 2.0.5 - why can't I vote for it.
What about Lasagna, Dopod, Spanish, Faman, Bepe's ROM ENG and GER, FLY ROM, UdK's ROM, Ausdim's ROM etc etc.
Even if you wanted just to look and English language ROMs - there are far more than you indicate. even though I really disagree with this thread on several points, if you insist on doing something- at least do it fairly? If this sort of thing can be done fairly.
well alright, although Im pretty sure your favourite ROM IS NOT A3XL 2.0.5, you have a point, so if anyone wants to vote for AX3L ROM 2.0.08 or earlier they can do that in the same option... I was not aware of the other ROMs, so if anyone has a choice not listed, they can very well mention it here. (although, ROMs of other languages are mostly based on the ROMs listed here)
Well, I tried to be fair, if I wasn't, I apologize, and if you anything else left to say, plz do....
Again : same useless question
I'm agree with nealed : "What about Lasagna, Dopod, Spanish, Faman, Bepe's ROM ENG and GER, FLY ROM, UdK's ROM, Ausdim's ROM etc etc"....

Absolutely agree.
It's the joint work of chefs to make our devices better, and we shall respect their work without this kind of competition.
Ciao
Should we open a thread asking which is better, P3600 or Trinity?
Or Opel or Vauxhal?
You are free to open as many threads as you want, but when you think 1 minute about the real use of this thread, i think that you will hit your head in the wall and call yourself names.
So you think that making a poll will make life easier for the users that want to choose a new ROM? You think that its not easier to read the threads about each of them and then pick the one that has better support for your device/likings?
Or that by doing this you are actually hurting the community by making people actually choose a ROM and make the cookers of the other ROMs leave the scene?
Everybody deserves the right to freedom, but there is a difference between freedom and stupidity and i guess that you are mixing it somehow.
Just my 10 cents... Feel free to disagree
To all SENIOR members, I know that for you this is just 1 more topic about the same old question, but for example for me it's a good information topic, at least to decide what will be my first WM6 ROM!!
I know very well, that 1 ROM could be the better to someone but for another person it can be the worst!
But if we have some kind of information about the pros and cons of the various ROM's then it's easier to decide wich one we will install!
And maybe later when we have more experience we start to try all of them and then we can decide by ourself's.
Maybe this can go STICKY and then no more questions about this

If you really want to help anybody choosing their ROM then you can make something more helpful. Read all the threads about the available WM6 ROM's, write down their pro's and con's and present this information to the community. When you do this, i am sure that many people will actually thank you and almost for sure that the thread would be a sticky. But this is the hard way, the easy way i think you already know about it...
This is not a question of who it senior or who is junior, its just a question of being lazy.

Unfortunately sometimes u don't have the time to read all the post, and when u just want to put something new on your device, there should be a easy way to help you!
I started yesterday on the WM6 ROM,and already tried 3 ROM's, and I still don't even know how many ROM there's in this forum.
This is why we should have some starting point of information.
Of course this should not be considered has some sort of competition between the ROM developer's, and eventually the newbies will become more able to try new things and after some experiences (sometimes bad) they will decide what is the best ROM for them!

Just as a few examples of all the other people who asked the same sort of question.
The simple answer? The best ROM is the one that you like best. There's no right answer. But make sure you do your research first - if you go flashing them without doing HardSPL, then you might end up with a nice new shiny paperweight.
There's a list of some of the ROMs at the wiki, where your journey should have begun. There's also some excellent guides over at MrVanx's site.
(In another note... when are people going to do their research? :-/)
Be thankful I wrote this before everyone else tears your head off...
"The simple answer? The best ROM is the one that you like best."
What if this guy is evil and considers the best ROM to be the one that you like the least?
for me i cant sem to decide. Ive had em all, well a lot of of em anyway. I keep switching back and forth. But yeah definately read read read. Some do run a bit faster than other been when it comes down to it, its gonna be personal liking. Good luck
i would like some more articles on these roms... with pro's and cons and just what they are more focusing on... that way readers can pick of off some lists or specs... but that isnt always clear or easy to find.
Good documentation and or reviews of roms is what is needed, for the new person or for ppl who simply want to try a different rom, ya for the advanced users who have tried almost all it doesnt help but for rest of us I can see already that nauturally most of the authers are going to be biased to some way with there roms.. and this should be documented and then the right readers/users will be targeted much better thus more ppl that are too

Likes/dislikes, reviews, and comparisons for each ROM can be found in the threads dedicated to those ROMs. Simply read what every who has replied has to say about it.
yes that is one way, and very unreliable way and painfully slow way... reading through all of it...
what has to be done is a contest between individuals who write reviews/articles... then people can vote based on how they feel for that review... after the winner... other suggestions or ideas are compiled from the other articles into wiki...
there you go one centralized idea/view by the majority vote
updates have to be added from time to time.. with solutions or new bugs and features...
do you know how many threads would be reduced if something like this was incorporated?
I prefer vp3G's ROMs.

A "contest" is unnecessary, and a list of suggestions/ideas would be just as hard to wade through.
As the Hermes is nearing the end of its development cycle, this will be a moot point soon. But if you want to put something together, the best idea would be a review website. Instead of saying which is better, just list all of the features that each ROM has, along with screenshots and metrics on battery life and speed. Then people can decide on their own which is better.
vp3g's rom is the best.. but thats cause im partial to ATT

Yes, it is slow. But flashing a Hermes ROM is not something you rush. Always do your homework.
I disagree on the unreliable part, however. Its like when software is developed, they dont have ONE person test it, because bugs, etc. can be overlooked easily. They have MANY testers. The replies to the threads are from the, if you will, testers of the ROM. They report good and bad. I don't know any better way, besides trying for yourself. I personally research tho.

Link below is for your Triton. This threat is for Hermes only.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=359
My personal opinion for Hermes is Kin0Kin and Schaps' Rom. These ROMs are fast and stable.
What do you think is best ROM for Blackstone ?
What use you ?
I guess that depends very much on what you're looking for. Until you decide what it is you want, nobody is EVER going to give you the right answer.
For me, the best ROM is the one my device came with..it's stable and works. I have never felt the need to flash a new one, esp since just about every ROM I've ever read about has a problem in one way or another (even if it is fixed the next day)
Actually, I have to say that I'm always disappointed by the number of ROMS that come out....it seems that there's new ones almost every day. I appreicate that these are released to allow people to test and report back, but surely they should be restricted to a handful of beta testers perhaps?
ok..back in my box now...apologies

if you dont want this thread closing i suggest you put a list of things you need require want and ask what meets your requirements. you have been warned!!!
Suggestion
Hi
May I respectfully suggest you have a trawl through the Blackstone Rom threads and see what you like and as mentioned above what best suits you. Most of the topics have a change log or features log and screenshots to help you make your mind up.
Then read the Wiki to gather all the info needed to actually start changing to the ROM you find is best for you.

I use Onkolog's and I'm very satisfied. In terms of speed it does not compare with the stock ROM, much faster. Very stable and quite Spartan, the way I like it. Hope this helps a bit more than most of the posts I've seen in this thread.
It depends on what you want.
Do you want a light, fast & probably stable ROM?
Or a heavy ROM with many programs on it?
Or between that?
I use dutty's 2.3 at the moment, but I don't use TF3D.
Take a look at what ROM's you want.
PS: the manila 3 is nice, so pick one with manila 3 and check out your new TF3D Look
In my case, after testing several realeased roms, I am using Dutty's 2.1. It is very satisfactory. I tried versions 2.2 and 2.3 but I don't particularly like the new start menu (I have a lot of programs installed and it doesn't suit my needs).
Try any of the versions (v2.xx) available at dutty's website. Any of them will amaze your relatives and friends.
I'm just surprised no MOD closed this thread!!
This is a common question with no answer as everyone is different so obviously everyones likes & dislikes will be different so no point asking which rom is better as what you may like, the next person won't!
Go into each rom thread, read up on them and flash whichever one appeals most to you. If you aren't happy, flash another!!
I've flashed countless rom's and I'm still searching for the perfect one!!

What, no deleting threads?
I asked a similar question to this about 2 months ago, having just bought a Blackstone, and got a short, sharp message about searching instead of trying to start a conversation and engage people. The thread got deleted a few minutes later.
Glad this didn't happen to you, good luck choosing a ROM. People on this forum are very helpful and talented, but can be incredibly rude at times.

I understand your comment, but if I can defend a few people on this site. Yes, some are rude and they generally get banned due to complaints....and rightly so. But others may have come across as rude but are infact actually good natured people who are just annoyed at getting asked the same questions day in.
As you said you asked the same question a few months ago and I can guarantee this same question has been asked dozens of other times. This is why we always ask people to read threads before posting new ones, and at the top of each forum included in the rules etc it also states this.
I try and be as helpful when I can and answer every query to the best of my knowledge, but I've also lost my cool once or twice.
My previous post in this thread is basically as much as anyone can offer on this subject.
Anyway, thats my two cents on the subject!!

Very well said. a) I too am surprised this didn't get closed. b) I agree, I don't think it's as much as people being rude but it gets annoying when the same questions are asked without using the search button.
and c) each ROM IS different. I've installed about a dozen different ROMs on my Blackstone and each one had their issues and/or benefits.
For the most part, I followed Dutty's ROMs but 2-3 weeks ago, I tried David's ROMs and though they're both great, I actually found an older ROM from David that I extremely liked when I disabled 3FTD. My phone is stable, extremely fast and has what I need in it.
It's very easy to get caught up "upgrading" ALL THE TIME. It seems that we all want the best and fastest ROM out there. Unfortunately, there isn't a perfect ROM out there that doesn't have some small issue and even if you found one with a minimal amount, you probably wouldn't like the amount (or lack of) programs in it.
I suggest you try several ROM's until you find a "style" that you like. After 3 years of upgrading ROM's (started back with a Razr) I can finally say I'm happy with the my current ROM and have no desire to upgrade.
So, start modding and good luck.

Sound advice by Mark. I personally have tried most roms available as well - currently using Dutty 2.4 quite happy with it, I found the new Dutty version release slighty slower then the 2.4.

I understand what you're asking but "which rom to get" is not appropriate, insulting to the chefs, and very subjective. This thread shall be soon be closed i'm sure, right mods??
But to answer some of your post, the face down speaker phone option you speaking of wanting to do is available as a tweak in almost all roms and is a simple registry tweak (as are all other tweaks) that you can do your self, just search for it and i'm sure you'll find it..
Misunderstanding
I didn't mean it. I dont know which is best like that have almost every option because people here tried almost every rom. I jst tried 3 roms so that is why. Like i installa new rom last night and my camera is not working on that. Unbealiveable
Not again...
There is no such "perfect ROM"!!!
This has been commented many times before.
What is perfect for me could be not for you
Try them all and decide what fits you better
Also as a general idea, enter to ROM section and see what is the one more users have installed, that would give you an idea

This.
You can look at the number of replies in the threads to get an idea which ones you might want to try. Most chefs are also courteous enough to list many of the features and tweaks of their ROMs in the first couple of posts of the thread.
If it helps, some of the more popular ROMs are Valkyrie, the various Energy ROMs, and the various Cell series ROMs.
Perfect roms don't exist. All have pros and cons, its like everyone here is saying, you just have to find one that fits you.
Anyways, on a positive note, the lock application I believe you are looking for is S2U2: http://ac-s2.com/
Take a cooking class
I too, want the PERFECT rom...but for that I will need to learn my way around the kitchen and cook one up myself. Even stock roms have glitches. The difference is that most, if not all the chefs here try to stay on top of glitches. You may need to make some "sacrifices" to what your idea of a perfect rom is, and instead have a really damned good rom. I am still running stock for warranty purposes, as my device is VERY new, that being said, I have spoken with many cooks here as well as many Rhodium "pros", and have come to the conclusion that Energy roms and JoshKoss roms are very good. I cannot tell you from personal experience about these roms, as I stated above, I do know that Chef Josh has been very kind and quick in responding to me over past inquiries.
I wish you luck. Perhaps you should instead consider reading the many extensive tutorials that explain the kitchen. This may be the only way to get YOUR perfect rom. What I may think is perfect you may think is crap. A little scenario...last night I spent HOURS making dinner, I thought it was very good, as did my kids, my husband, however, thought it was just OKAY. Same with the various roms. The chefs cannot please everyone all the time, so perhaps the only sure-fire way to get a perfect rom is to make it yourself.

In terms of stability and speed, I have yet to tweak anything to match my stock 6.1.
In terms of eye candy and usefulness, I really like the Energy Leo 6.5 w/ sense 2.5. Most of the features really reduce the time it takes to get to my favorite locations.
Please
Please stop posting in this thread so it falls off, for it is totally pointless.
P.
if you have question so where you can go?

So you didn't get the answer you wanted so you are going to take your toys and go home?? No offense but your response sounded like something my 9 year old would throw at me.
Several people answered with rom possibilities, but we also said that the elusive PERFECT ROM is truly a matter of taste. Stable roms are built of off stock 6.1 or 6.5's, and 6.5.3 builds have extra bells and whistles but the consensus seems to be that they are buggier.
I myself stated Energy or JoshKoss roms a few entries above. While I have not tested them myself, the various pages and pages of reviews sound very positive. Others have made other suggestion.
You are chasing unicorns. Period. The only truly perfect rom would be one you build yourself. No chef can cater to your specific wants and needs (unless you PM them and arrange some form of compensation for their time). What I feel would be perfect may be the total opposite of what you or John Doe thinks.
I'm sorry you didn't get the answer you hoped for, and if you choose to not participate in the forums that will be your choice, and frankly, your loss. We have tried to do our best to point you in a direction that may help you. If none of the suggestions fit your needs, then learn to cook your own rom. I understand that it can be tedious to read the many pages associated with the various cooked roms, but I have managed to do that with several of them, you can too. It is the only way you will learn what works and what doesn't. We will guide you, but we won't do the work for you.
I apologize if this seems rude, but it has become quite frustrating to see yet another "perfect rom" thread.
Perfect ROM
Near as I can figure, the perfect ROM is the Apple iphone. Or at least it seems to me that post after post after post is users trying to make Windows Mobile, Look, Act, Feel, Sound like an iphone.
As a not so bright end user of many of the forum genius's works and yet, also devoted fan of Windows Mobile since early Ipaq days, I've found Energy Phoenix to be my personal favorite for hands on simplicity, ease of use and having all the basic features of my TILT 2 working. Curiously before I found that you could even have a custom ROM, I was using as a desktop background one of the pics he uses as his ROM background defaults. So that's how I was attracted to trying it. Pretty retarded huh?
I also use SBP Mobile Shell and have said to **** with POOPFLO3D. I swear I'd like to find the HTC guy who came up with that one and womp em a good one.

iPhone's OS is the perfect "ROM" for an idiot that barely knows how to turn on his/her phone.
