Connection pop-up - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I somehow managed to stop the pop up that shows up when starting a connection. The little window that pops up when starting a data connection, it says what network you are connecting to, and gives you the cancel or hide option. I don't know how I did this, but I got it to stop. I never really noticed until I reflashed my ROM and it came back. I looked in Schap's advanced config, but don't see that option.
If anyone knows how I can disable this again I would enjoy not seeing this anymore.
Thanks!

start, settings, connections, click on menu and untick the enable on startup!
PS, if you are flashing again, why not try CRC's latest, definitely faster than 9.2!

I must be missing something... Start > Settings > Connections, where is "menu"? If I click on Connections, there is Tasks or Advanced.
What am I missing?
Also, I am downloading CRCs 13.0 right now.

connection setup sorry

I see what you mean. We are talking about different things. I mean the little pop-up at the top of the screen that pops up when you open IE or something else that uses data connection. It has the little arrow pointing to the signal meter, it says "Connecting to GPRS, 3G" then has 2 buttons that say Cancel or Hide. It goes away once connected. This isn't the network setup wizard, it's just the warning that you are starting a data connection.

whoa sorry, ... didn't know you can do that! will wait for some other expert to come up with solution.

Found it!!!
Go to <Start>, <Settings>, then click on <Sounds and Notifications>.
In there, go to "Notifications" tab and then choose "Connection established" from the drop-down box. You should see "Display message on screen" checked. Uncheck that box and those connection messages should not show up again!

I see this in all the ROMs i have flashed, everytime the phone an internet connction thru GPRS or 3G. I think this is a part on the software's notifications. So maybe there is now way of disabling it.

Quakie, you are an absolute star! This has been driving me mad for over a year. With TomTom running, and as you drift in and out of phone service area, this pop-up would appear. TomTom would then freeze until the pop-up was physically cancelled. Really annoying.
Now fixed, and one less distraction when driving.

Disable Phone Lock

Hi, I have finally setup my TP2 to get email from an exchange server. As part of the config though it has forced the "lock" function in all settings to be on. It is set for a max duration of 15 mins inactivity and needs a simple pin. Does anyone know how to either extend the "Prompt if device unused for" time to a really large value or how to disable it. I have looked at the registry and tried advanced config and can't find anything to change this.
I like having my email, I don't like being forced to use a device lock!
Ta
I didn't get the lock selected when I set up my Exchange mail. Have you tried:
Select Settings
All settings
Personal Tab
Lock
Is there a tick in the box at "Prompt if device unused for"
take the tick out of the box

Thank you for the suggestion but I tried that. It is ticked but greyed out so I can't untick it! I have only got access to set the pin or change the duration on that screen.

Give a man a fish he will feed himself for a day. Give him an internet connection and a few hours then he will solve his own problem.
Hopefully it helps someone else.

I have tried and it works so far. I have gone for the 24 hour locking option.

I beleive if you set exchange via activesync this occurs, yet if you set up via the device with manual settings it doesnt force the locking.
I normally setup my exchange via the device........... I hate activesync

Hardware key to disconnect GPRS?

Does anyone know of an app that will allow me to assign a hardware key to close a GPRS/3G connection? I have AE Button Plus but that doesn't offer this option.
Go to SETTINGS-PERSONAL-BUTTONS and you will find a tab named "End Key". You can set there to close data connection by long pressing the home button.

Long pressing end buttton does close data connection, but it start automatically a few minutes later. Any ideas?
search this section for "no push internet" and you will find the cabfiles to install that will mean when you terminate the data connection it STAYS terminated until you manually trigger it (updating weather, running a browser etc)

Network Login Problem

I've been having a weird problem lately on my Tilt 2 AT&T device. On boot, a "Logon to Server" window will pop up saying "Network Log On". Below it the following:
Resource: MEdia Net
User name: [email protected]
Password: ____________
Domain: ______________
And an unchecked "Save Password" selection
This came out of nowhere it seems. I'll also every once in awhile will get the 3G Icon on the top bar acting like it's trying to connect...instead of the usual 3-4 bars itll say "3G" with 2 arrows beneath it...one going left, one going right.
When I try to access an application that uses the network...say...Marketplace...I'll get a "Can't Access/Dial Network" grey bubble that pops up on the screen...Even when I "Dismiss" the bubble..it'll constantly pop back up. I also noticed in my TouchFlo settings area...the option to turn on and off the network will be on...then it'll flip off...then it'll flip on...like it's confused whether or not to connect.
It's weird...because it won't always do it...but majority of the time it will. I'll still get text messages and the marketplace and apps will work perfectly sometimes, then other times I'll get all this crap and will be forced to restart the device...
ANY IDEAS?
Me too!
I don't know what happened either, but it sure is annoying. I have the EXACT same problem. However, I think I may have caused it. I was tinkering with the advanced configuration tool and BsB Tweaks.
Does anyone who uses these two programs know which setting might be causing this? MediaNet Login Page opens when you reboot the phone.
Thanks!
I think I found the Fix
Sorry, I initially provided what I thought was a fix for this, but after several more tests the problem still exists periodically.

Time zone on boot

Hey all,
Every time i start up my phone, it always prompts me to set the time zone, ive try many different roms and pops up everytime.
Any one have an idea?
Are the other locational services working okay? For instance, does the HTC weather tab (or home widget) display "My Location" as the proper city? I think the time zone is determined automatically based on location (via cell tower). So maybe your carrier is not broadcasting the proper locational information.
yeah, google and weather both show correct location

So...you want it to not prompt you for time zone?
Have you tried this?:
Settings (All settings)>Personal>Phone>GSM/UMTS Services> Select "Time Synchronization" then "Get Settings". On the screen that appears should be a check box for "Automatic change time zone and clock". Uncheck that box, then "OK".

But be advised that this work around will also kill the ability of the TP2 to know where it is. So if you travel via airline, for example, the phone won't pick up your new location - you will have to manually change it.

[Q] How do you disable/remove AT&T Address Book?

Every time I open my address book (or at least the first time after a reboot) I get this AT&T address book verifying subscriber status popup that takes a while to complete. I have no interest in ever using that service so how can I disable the check and just stop using it at all?
I'm guessing that the answer might be root and remove bloatware but I'm hoping there's a way to just turn it off without rooting. Don't worry I'll be rooting sooner than later but for now I'd like to just get rid of that annoying delay.
I havent got my phone yet, should have it within the next 3 hours, but have you looked through the settings, and opened up the AT&T address book app and checked the settings within that app itself?
Yeah. Not seeing any settings for it or actually any AT&T Address Book App at all.
Yeah i finally got mine a few hours ago, but i dont see any options to disable it either.
I'm guessing this will be one of those annoyances that only root can salve.
Not sure about the s3 but on skyrocket I checked out the programs.. scrolled down to sync and disabled..
Rebooted and never got the error again.
... sent via subspace

Where exactly did you "check out the programs.. scroll down to sync and disable"?
I don't see anything about AT&T address book anywhere.
I have the same issue. Every so often when I go into my phonebook I have to wait for it to check the AT&T Address Book. So now there is a huge lag to access my contacts.
Why do carriers think they should be mobile phone designers? I wish they'd just leave the designing to the people who are good at it.
Over 10 years of buying my own phones out of contract for a reason. I've only had the phone for a few hours. I wonder what other lame surprises await....
Ok, I seemed to have fixed it. Not sure which action it was because I was just doing everything I could to make it stop.
First thing I did was to turn off AT&T phonebook in my online account. Log into www.attwireless.com. Under MyAT&T tab, mouse over "Wireless" and select "Usage & Recent Activity". Scroll down to "Members Shared Usage" and click on "view details of the number you're working on. Scroll down to "Minute Detail" and right under that is "Phonebook" with the option to turn it on or off.
At the same time I was doing a lot of flailing around in the the phone. I was Settings page in Contacts and I deleted all the AT&T BS contacts it auto inserted into the phone.
I rebooted and it stopped trying to access that AT&T phonebook. Hope this helps.
1. system setting
2. app manager
3. click on the phone book
4. force stop
Now it will stop and the icon will be removed from the app list. You can do this for all of the apps that will not uninstall till we get root.

In step 3 when you say "the phone book" do you mean the app called Contacts that has an icon that looks like a phone book? When I disable that app my phone dialer icon disappeared making it so I couldn't dial out. Had to re-enable it.
Otherwise, I dont have an app named Phone Book.

Hi I just got my phone the same thing happened. I let it load (the second time it happened the first time I hit cancel). I got a page that was basically an ad for att's backup service, I scolled down to the bottom and clicked on close (or whatever the button did say). Now when I start contacts no more "checking subscriber status etc".
I have not rebooted yet but will and if it comes back I'll post, if it doesn't then at least on my Galaxy SIII it was a one time event.
