Free SD/MicroSD cards and more (confirmed) - General Accessories

Hey Ive seen many people here that cant afford to get a memory card and couple of weeks ago i ran across a website.
Basically you sign up, fill up some useless info and you get points for every survey/sign up and you can get memory cards and other stuff with the points. The website is PrizeRebel. Friday i actually got my Kingston 2GB microSD Memory Card that wasn't worth many points at all.
Just a little tip for the people here still without a memory card for their phone. As I said i already tested it and its not a scam, i also included my referrer link for sharing this info with you i would appreciate it if you sign up with me as referrer =] Of Course you don't have to.
Direct Link: http://www.prizerebel.com/index.php
Referrer Link: http://www.prizerebel.com/index.php?r=494563
Enjoy
PS. I don't think there is a rule against posting stuff like this. If there is sorry and you are welcome to delete this post. Was just trying to help out

sweet thanks
lolz dont really need one but if i did i would have used the referrer link

Bump, i still see some people around here without memory cards

kinda pointless imho
on grps it would take a year to get something big down
and it would cost a big pile of cash
a) It wouldnt if you have something faster, like EDGE or even UMTS/EVDO. Even on GRPS its not that bad for downloading.
b) It wouldnt cost a lot of cash if you have good unlimited dataplan.
well suppose so but what would make that much sense to get directly to ones pda?
of cause one could dl a perfectly legal movie to watch but that movie would run alot better if converted to the resolution of the devices and take up much less space too
not to mention that with turrents others upload from you too
which would mean that having a few people recieving from you
would damage bandwidth alot
since even HSDPA is optimized for download not upload
heck even many normal pc connections have rather poor uploads compared to download and will cut down on download if the uploads begin to reach the connections maximum
HSDPA is no worse the ordinary ADSL in terms of up/down unbalance. And many people leech regardless of their true upload abilities anyway, but with bittorrent you dont get as much download if you dont upload much.
BTW I never had problems watching unconverted videos on my phone. Maybe because I stick mostly to XScale-based devices, so I dont need to waste time on converting more then actually watching
Sometimes its more handy to just put download on phone then leave the whole noisy and powerhungry PC box all night on
Did you guys really RFT article!?
It says "You can start, pause, stop and monitor your downloads, and it also offers some additional info about every Torrent and a couple of settings." and that's it.
Where the hell it says dl to your phone!? AFAIK, it just can't even add a new torrent using that mui.
LOL
honestly I didnt read it
I thought Rudegar have read it and so replied directly to his remark about uselessness of pocket-base torrent client
cool! )))

lol, debating a lost cause...
read what where now ?
lol, we all have diffrent needs...if we all had the same needs, we would need a pda with 4x5 Gb cpu, 2 TB Ram, and 10000 TB storage on our phones to be able to use everything that is out there
I just wanted to point out that its there if anyone would want it
Hi,
the site is inactive now, but i would still like to try this app.
Can anyone share it?
I am more interested in being able to remotely add a new torrent to my utorrent client at home using my kaiser wm6.1
thanks

MicroSD (Kingston 8Gb) only 300kb/s write speed normal?

Hi all,
i performed a Benchmark with "SK Tools 4.5" to check out why my microSD card seemed to be very slow on copying or installing programs on it...
The result was very surprising to me but im (really) not a specialist so i may ask if this writing speed is normal or not? 260-330kb/s even my old Amiga 64 is faster ...
Btw.
how can i do a signature to my profile? I didnt found this option in the User CP.
Greetz from Germany and awesome Forum!!

I have a Class 6 8GB MicroSD card and the SK Tools benchmarks for the Storage Card are 654kb/sec write and 8890kb/sec read. Having the fastest MicroSD card that you can afford (not necessarily the biggest) really makes a difference to TP2 user experience.
You can always try tnyynt SD TuneUP to see if this helps. I've been using it without problems. I'm not allowed to post the URL, but search the forum with "SD TuneUP 460577" and you can read all about it.
As for the signature, go back into User CP and 'Edit Signature' is the second link down within 'Settings and Options' on left hand column.
Class 6...Ok, i searched for what is "class 6" and which class i have...and i have 4 (34x)
I tried the SD Tuneup cab and i get 390kb/s now, a bit better , the major change is read transfer speed, from 3300 to 9100Kb/s, thats a huge difference, thanks a lot!!!
Maybe i will buy a faster SD Card, i found one with Class 10 and 16Gb, is it compatible to the TP2? Lill bit expensive but speed has no price.
Greetz
PS: I have no Option "signature" in my Usercp (see screenie)...I dunno, maybe i need more posts to "unlock"?
Hi,
From what I can determine, Class 10 belongs to the new version 3.0 of the SD Memory Standard. The TP2 hardware only supports version 2 of the standard (Class 6 being the top of the pile). That means that it may not be able to take advantage of the new Class 10 speed or even work with it. Bit risky to buy one considering the cost of these cards. The TP2 will work with 16GB cards though.
Regarding the signature, here's what I found from xda-developers.com
I want to add a signature to my forum posts, but I can’t find where to do that.
In order to combat spam, we have placed several restrictions on new user accounts, including the inability to use signatures. This particular restriction is removed after you make eight posts, but please don’t post junk just to raise your post count. Once you make eight posts, the system will auto-promote your account (this script runs every hour), and you will be able to edit your signature. You can find this option on the user control panel (accessible at all times in the forums using the “Quick Links” menu item). If this answer didn’t solve your problem, use our general contact form to email the webmaster.
Hope this helps.
Thanks a lot for all the Information, ill buy a 16Gb Class 6 Card.
Have a nice Sunday

[off topic] is the internet getting strict

I havent downloaded movies music not so long ago. yesterday I wanted to download 5 music albums. what I got is 5 songs for searching google in 1 hour. before I just type in get results and working links. all file upload providers now deletes it right away. some just gave up sharing files, you just can download your own upload. Whats happening. Is this stupid SOPA might be already running in google servers and the internet in anonymous mode?
I noticed this already in the last month or two, havent been downloading much at all, I never really used torrents as I never really gelled with them, I used Rapidshare for years, but now that all the file hosters are going tits up I need something new, so I am gonna try out Usenet this evening and see if I like it, my friends swear by it....
Ive seen that usenet before but never tried it. Im gonna test it to when Im on pc. thanks for sharing, I hope its free.
beemp3 is good.
Ill test that one too. thanks
Hi, it is still easy to get whatever you want really esaily.
P2P is obvious winner : torrents/magnets, slsk...
DDL : Pirate App, Blogspot. Search-fu skills... Russian sites too (http://zaycev.net/search.html?query_search= for instance...)
Usenet : paying. C'mon, don't do that. They're the same bastards as MU and RS... Making money on artists' back.
I'm a Black/Death metal head, and I easily manage to find whatever I want, so if you're listening to more popular music, you shouldn't have any problem
I hope this helps
what I only understand in that site is silicon stuff. I dont need it since I dont have boobs.
edit also says something about a chip, put a motor in it then you have vibra boobs.

Wow, people still use Soulseek?
Theres a name I aint heard in eons! I used to use it for dj music many moons ago when I was on dial up....
To be honest, I only want usenet for movies/tv shows.... I payed for Rapidshare for 2 years and the service was great, so I have no issue paying a fee again if I have hassle free downloading.... (I live in rural ireland, my connection is 4mbs!)
I still support and buy ALL my music as im a dj who plays radio every week and gigs regularly enough aswell, so I need receipts for that stuff....
I didnt get around to setting up newsgroups last night due to not being arsed connecting my laptop to my tv, next time gadget, next time.....
@m1ndh4x8r : Yeah, russian stuff you know... Being French I had troubles with it too, but it's not that hard to manage. Try PirateApp though, you should be fulfilled : https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Pirate-App/125065507548174?sk=info
@Ko_Ka : It sure is an old stuff and I don't use it much nowadays, but it still works, and it's still good to find underground content
The thing about paying is not that I don't want to, but for illegaly downloading something, no, I won't pay yet another mafia. And I sure buy a fair share of the music I download when I can and attend to as much gigs as I can. This way I make sure the artists get the maximum possible amount out of my money. Not some filthy over-rich mafia dude like MU's creator.
Haven't you guys seen what has been going on?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S using xda premium
That is to say ?
Are you talking about SOPA/PIPA/ACTA, MU&Cie down ?
Discussing warez is NOT allowed on xda.

One Tap NFC Business Card

Hey One Tap sent me one of their Plastic business cards with an NFC chip embedded, I like the approach they are taking of using a URI rather than trying to fit an entire vcard into 36bytes. What do you think, vid below:
I think that having only one business card isn't enough, not everyone has an NFC enabled device. In order to share your contact information, you'll still need to hand out your business cards from time to time.
I cant imagine that the feel of an plastic business card is a good one. It's like a drivers license or credit card.
And the price!!! 15$ for one card? Thats a lot. Believe me, they use the cheaper NFC chips, since they don't have enough memory to handle a whole vCard. All they do is to link to an URL, and there will be a online profile.
The idea to share contact details with a TAP is an illusion here. Who wants to search in an online profile eacht time in order to call someone? The idea should be to save them in your genuine contact list in your phones memory.
Same is right for Moo, they link to an online profile only.
If you want to see the cheapest NFC business cards on the market, but still these with the highest quality, check out the videos below!
www.tapmy.biz sells you thin paper NFC business cards, have a good feel (a real business card feel), store an entire vCard. it's 2$ a card and with quantity the price goes down. You can upload your own design or create your own design on the website by choosing from many templates :good:
My only complaint about TapMy is that they use Mifare Classic which isn't supported by the Nexus 4/10 as far as I know. Mifare Classic is the cheapest tags that support up to 1K data. The cheapest thing I can find for N4 is the NTAG203 which costs a little more than Mifare but only holds 144B.
OneTap Promotions
Hi Batou069, thank you for your comments, we always try to promote feedback from people as it helps us to recognise things that our customers think we can improve.
We completely agree that that there is still a huge market for paper business cards and will still be around for at least the next few years. This is an area of the company that we are currently working on and are looking forward to making these available in the near future. The decision to originally launch with a PVCA card is to be able to offer something different and original for people. There are many benefits for this, durability being a big one, but it also helps you to stand out in a crowded market, which we feel is the most important thing ever when networking.
We are sorry that we have not made it clear on our website that you can download an entire vCard with one tap once the profile has loaded. This is the primary button that your are presented with at the top of your page, but having a profile opens up the opportunity to share so much more. Clearly we have failed in bringing this across.
We are currently working on a brand new website and this is something that we will definately keep in mind whilst designing it, we also plan to include a short video that will show all our new and interesting features that you won’t get elsewhere. Once again thank you for your comments. You can keep updated with our progress via twitter @OneTapPromo and please keep an eye out for our new site coming soon.

[Q] Fire TV Question?

OK, this is a OLD subject? Does anyone have any idea why Amazon insists on ruining a perfectly good product by disabling external storage? 8 gig is useless when downloading multiple games? I am on metered Internet so downloading multiple times from the Cloud is not a option?
I know there are mods to correct this but it seems a awful amount of trouble for something that it should support to start with? I am probably preaching to the choir thought as support does not seem to have any feedback on the issue at Amazon?
Been waiting patiently for a replacement product to come out ......maybe Google??

Well, it's made for people to use with Amazon stuff, like Prime, it's App store, so on. You know, online stuff. So why the stupid choice of not having an external SD slot isn't that hard to understand. It's made for streaming online content mostly.
Now, thanks to the great hackers and programmers of the world (and this site) you can put stuff on external storage. For instance, I used an external usb flashdrive to put stuff on, via foldermount.
I would check out the posts on this site, some great guides to get you information about these subjects.

Thanks, as much as I hate to admit you are correct! This just makes the product not practical for people who are metered on usage? They want you to use this as a gaming device but give you no way to store more than a few? Many would not have the knowledge or patience to perform the mods? I myself have not rooted but have loaded XBMC and Playcast. It's a dual edge sword use my bandwidth to download or stream? I to am most grateful to the people who take the time to allow us to enjoy the Fire TV's true potential!
Rumor has it that this is a non issue in the latest firmware, but will likely have to wait for that to be rooted or that functionality to be backported.
