Power bar on today screen?

I feel kind of silly here. I did a search on the forum, and didn't find much.
I want to be able to look at my phone and see how much power is left. Right now I have to go Start-->Settings-->System-->Power.
Ridiculous!
Am I missing something?

You will need to install some plugin on the today screen to get the feature you are looking for. I personally use PowerCheck version 3.5, which is freeware and allows you to monitor both the battery and memory state.
I have attached a a CAB file with PowerCheck. Just copy it to you device execute it there to install.

Is this a general issue with the Blue Angel (or what device do you have xcalibur)?
Honestly, I have been running this plugin for more than a month on my Magician. It hasn't caused me any problems at all - not even something that required a soft reset. I find it strange that it should cause problems on the Blue Angel but not on the Magician given that they both run Windows Mobile 2003 SE PE. Moreover, this plugin has received almost purely positive reviews on several ppc freeware sites.
I'm sorry xcalibur, but I have ask: could it be that your hard reset was caused by something else than this plugin - or perhaps by a bug in some other software that doesn't work if this plugin is installed?

I have an O2 XDAIIs with ROM Version 1.12.62WWE. ROM DATE 10/4/04.

You can create today shortcuts and put a small block style powerbar across the very top edge of the screen.
Loads of other features as well including the option to make the X button really close apps rather than just minimze them.
Completely customisable as well

I remember when i load the O2 Uk ROM there was this battery bar in the today screen, any know what program they use?
I hope if possible it can be extract from the O2 UK extend ROM, i just need to know which file?
I have recently upgrade to the iMate Arabic 1.31 ROM so lost the O2 features.

There is one TodayScreen add-in where this one will disappeare but I don't know which one. Un/reinstall it and it's back.

I'd recommend Magic Button 1.8. It's supposed to give you control of running programs, but also incorporates a powermeter, as seen in the top right corner.

This is the smallest and nicest I've ever seen. You can also choose the position on the top bar.
No installation required, just copy it wherever you want and execute (\windows\startup is a good place).
Tapping on it you will have immediately all your bat and mem information at a glance.

magic button is fine but sometimes creates prob.
If you guys talking about yishin powercheck then I do have that on my blueangel for months now and not got any problem with it. I also have from the same worldtoday and tdlauch from the same place. These all are free apps and tdlaunch gives u the ability of have shortcuts on today screen.

Forgive the (perhaps) simple question: I tried battery_OU. Now I'd like to uninstall, but don't see it anywhere where I can remove, either on my xv6600woc or in ActiveSync or anywhere else for that matter. Any helps or hints, please? Thank you.

this file don't has uninstall option but you can uninstall it manually,
1- go on your pocket pc to windows folder you will find a file called bettery.exe,,, delete it
2- now most important you have to edit the registry because the phone will be looking for battery file every time you reset it and it will give an error because you deleted it , now using any reg edit software go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init
"Launch250"="\windows\battery.exe" <= delete this key.
that should work.
please make first a backup for your pocket pc, you may need it in case something wrong happened.

Thanks for the reply; appreciate it. After I posted here, I started looking at files w/in the CAB & found the reg entry. I also thought it's _250 init meant that the corresponding pgm would get started in the order implied (basically about last if I remember correctly). Reminded me a little about the root pcs start sequence dependencies in Unix. So I removed the reg entry, restarted & the upper right icon disappeared. Then I was comfortable w/deleting the windows\battery.exe.
Rebooting, that-all looked fine. So then I thought I'd wait for your reply, to see what else I might have missed, then reply back.
Again, thanks for your reply. I think whoever built the CAB didn't build the corresponding uninstall; kind of 'hacky' to me, but, no harm.
FWIW, I'm using the kbattery executable that 'dave' posted in his post dtd Thu Mar 10, 2005 12:20. Small, works fine, can place in the Start where I want. Shows primary battery strength, which is what I'm mostly looking for most-all the time. Can click it to get more info if I want too (although it shows more detail about memory only).

Dr Puttingham will be my only source for Hermes ROM's since he is the MAN! I will offer support but the good thing about my ROM's is you won't need any support they are that clean and fast! Run a benchmark on my rom compaired to anyone else and see who comes out on top!

u r serious when u say its fast.. i havent had to tweak ur stuff at all.. one question tho. do u think u can re-work this rom to have like 80mb storage like dutty did to his? or maybe even 70mb? reason i ask is cuz i like to keep at least 30mb free on phone and opera alone is 6mb to install. im running ur rom and i can say that ur rom is the only rom out that i can have palm threaded sms opened and STILL have 26.03mb of ram free...its amazing.

Goes even a little faster with my WM6 Tweak cab without Vibrate! I made a new cab that has Shaps Vibrate renamed, then I delete the standard Vibrate shortcut from the Startup. Austinsnyc like the old Vibrate and I like the new...
But.. it IS fast just the way it is.

I see how you got so many posts, you never take the time to look up anything yourself.
And btw, dont expect much support from the chef, it always gets done by other people, dont get me wrong, Austin cooks some good ROMs, but support and screenies have always been lacking, or other people had to do it.

actually, i tend to look a few things up but i have sigs disabled so stuff loads quicker lol.

This may have been posted somewhere if so sorry, but is this ROM experience the same issue if you hide the wireless manager you will experience a slowdown?

Here's my latest cab, give it a try. Gi to startup and delete the trayicon_manermode shortcut. All the settings are the same as in my sig except the bluetooth icon is now a shortcur rather than the executable per Kyphur's suggestion. I also added Lordsmith's Batteryguage in it cause I really like it.

how can I install windows media player on wm6, this version is vast but missing this importent fiture (sync MP3 with desktop), any suggestion or a cab file for installing WMP???

Yes, it didn't change any other mod. I still have the possibility to change background in all tabs, have different layout, icons etc.
And yes, you can use the same backgrounds from other tabs or you own only for this tab.
Only problem is, that this mod didn't use landscape

There is a problem with this app and dutty's v3.3 with default start menu and programs tab enabled. When u install this software, the last tab in your manila disappears. Mine was Settings, and it was gone... So it was kinda hard to get to settings to change the tab order, but i done it and made the Music tab the last and it's gone but this Today App works fine but there one more thing, try setting "Override tab height" 200 for example in MTP settings, and at the manila tab u will see 2 halfs of backgrounds, aswell as when you hold the Today tab in manila it will show "Today Screen" on the back background, not front

you have another solution. In the config app, select today as target page. It will create a new page named today with your today plugins.

I created an extra tab nr.12 (with regedit) and copied the values from the settings(nr.11) tab to the new tab and did a reset then installed MTP did an other reset. MTP shows up as the last tab and your settings tab is still there and also now you're able to move the MTP tab around to the position you want.

From me it deleted the 3rth tab.. my SMS tab... noidea how to get it back, nor do i get an extra tab with MTP options or anything..

Be nice togehter. There are many coders outside who writes pretty good and usefull software. But these guys have only one phone!!!
Not enough money to by every actually phone to write the source for everyone. Or is there a possibillity. Ah yes. Donate and the guys can do that.....
I am a coder too. Not for phones but for industrial automation controls systems. No not Siemens, i am a lucky one .
The today plugin runs on my phone perfect. OK i have an original one. Seen my signautre. But everyone who knows a loittle bit over cocking, cabbing and manila problems, use never the install cab files. Take a klook in the file what he does and do it on the old way. Step by step with your hands and a keyboard.
And another thing is: the most people ~90% forget to do a backup before install new apps. Backup files or the complete phone. However, backup is the trick to come back every time to the original status.
The trick from us users is to feel the toughts from the coder to get an idea what he has done. Why is the button green and not black
The other part of the story is: everybody is free to install apps. Or it is the story - ahh a new driver/app, i MUST have - Why that, we humans are crazy? Thanks god the coders not
Ok back to reallity. Be nice and have respect for the work from others. Many hours of coding, coffee, meal and lovely people in the background that support coders. Give all the time contsructive comments or reports.
Ahh by the way, a report from xda that is an idea. Then every coder can use that doc for user reports. I think i have work todo today.

In the main settings from MTP there you can select to use the same background as normal, or you can use a own one. There is the possibillity too, to change the hight for your own background.
Play a while with that and you find out new things. I hope it help's.

Ok, there are 79 pages. I have done it and can find out a way on every problem. Why you not? Ok the app is an older one and so as i sayed, the coder can't do it for all the phones and the installed software. My question again. The most of you are using billy soft. Is everyone from you agree what ms have done? I don't think so. But there is all the time a solution for problems. Possible the coder can fix the problems. We have to write down all the facts and inform the owner of the app, because the coder don't take a look in every thread that talks about his app. So be nice and talk with him .

There is a setting for the offset hight for the background. Play a little bit with that. I had have problems too, but in the end i have used a different background. For me it is not so important. Important is that the apps are working. Possible the coder can fix it. We have to write down all the facts and inform the owner of the app. I hoipe it helps a little bit. I have just bought a BA of the bay with wm6.1, and Ive come across this screen with this cool batt indicator, and I was wondering if it comes with wm6.1 or will I need to download a prog to get it, and if so any idea whats its called??

£60 in total, but Im not happy cos the p&p was £7,he has only just posted to me today, and I won it tuesday night. So prob wont get the phone untill tues or weds

recieved the phone this morning and it has SPB Mobile Shell aready installed, Is there anyway to tell if thats in the rom so if I do a hard reset it wont loose the software??
Also it appears that the phone is locked to orange, the guy said it was unlocked, but the phone wont accept my tmobile or virgin card. So how do I unlock it??

2. in general, programs installed are gone after hard reset. but maybe, just maybe, the previous owner wrote a custom extrom and put it in the actual extrom storage, that is technically possible but very unusual, what you can do is:
- check your memory, if it says 60.30 mb, you don't have an extrom, meaning after a hard reset, EVERYTHING is gone, maybe even office and other system essentials.
- if your memory states 43mb, you still have an extrom, so either the previous owner flashed the device wrong, or, as mentioned before, he maybe made an own internal extrom, if you go to the wiki and download the extrom_unlocker, you can unlock, then unhide it and check, which programs will install after hard reset, because they are listed in the extrom then.

Sorted out those 2 probs and yeah the mem was 60.30mb. After a lot if messing about with it I decided todo a hard reset cos couldnt get ie running from wifi. I said yes to 2 and 3 in the boot loader, but now when I turn it on, R and G has no numbs anymore but G says 5.60.00 WWE. Also When the screen goes off or when I turn it off, the power button wont turn the screen back on unless I do a soft reset... What have I done and how can I fix it???

PHEWWW, Just done another hard reset and all the numbs have come back and it seeens to be turning on ok now..phew

Im pleased to say this phone is doing everything I want it todo, mainly remote desktop so I can control winamp on my main pc from in bed,
1 small prob, not really important I guess, but its saying Im on t-mobile, but Im on virgin. Is there a easy way to get it saying the correct network on the today screen??

ive had that problem and i think i have a rough explanation.
I am with ASDA mobile, now they use Vodaphone's signal towers and when im on the today screen i see vodaphone - not ASDA. But when i stick the sim in another phone (Sony Ericsson K800i) it says ASDA Mobile.
So the reason is that our blue angels dont accept being forced to display "ASDA Mobile" (in my case) but my K800i accepts getting told what network to display from the sim card.

How odd, anyway its not a big deal. Got another question for you guys, is there anyway to make the scrollbar in the contacts wider in wm6 so its easier to scroll. Cos im not using SPB Mobile Shell anymore, as I need to make the phone as easy as possible to use, cos both my mum and I use it and shes not to hot with gadgets.
Edit: Also whats the best registry editor for wm6??

Just realise you can scroll though the contacts with the buttons on the phone, and to be honnest I think that will be even easier for my mum.
Ive also install "slide 2 unlock 2", that has a cool feature, so when your in a call the screen goes blank so you cant accidentally press something with your ear or whatnot.

Hi! How were you able to take the 50 percent limitation off?

Using various guides I was able to get most of the retail mode stuff removed. I didn't take very good notes as I was going but could probably dig up what I used if anyone else needs help.
Aside from the 50% limitation, I also have:
1. After reboot, the list of Second Screen compatible apps resets to default
2. Fingerprint reader not usable
Anyone had any luck on either of those?
I also noticed that someone on ebay was selling demo units flashed with a tmobile rom. I spent a bit of time yesterday trying to flash stock retail roms but didn't have any luck..

I've found a not so great workaround for the charging limitation. Seems like whatever process is limiting the battery charging to 50% is not executed on the factory reset screen. I've gone into this mode on my LG-Wing and have been able to charge the battery completely (just make sure you don't accidentally select yes+ok). I know this is terrible since the screen can't be turned off here and it's mostly just black text on a white background at max brightness, but I thought it'd be worth mentioning. I may try out a few other things later today to see if I can find something else around this charging limitation that could be of any help.

I've found a not so great workaround for the charging limitation. Seems like whatever process is limiting the battery charging to 50% is not executed on the factory reset screen. I've gone into this mode on my LG-Wing and have been able to charge the battery completely (just make sure you don't accidentally select yes+ok). I know this is terrible since the screen can't be turned off here and it's mostly just black text on a white background at max brightness, but I thought it'd be worth mentioning. I may try out a few other things later today to see if I can find something else around this charging limitation that could be of any help.

Hello, I too have an LG Wing Demo unit with only wifi. When I try to use
the LG Demo app with this pin code 103729, not correct pin. When I get to any point where the next password (L310MC570G) would fit, it also does not work either
My Wing is a Verizon demo.
Any help with any alternate passwords and pins would greatly be appreciated.

I saw something about in the v60 demo remove thread that flashing Verizon and then TMobile firmware got all the limitations off. Don't know the first step on doing this myself, I also cannot find any correct password to enable developer options but I'm waiting for any help from anyone.

I apologize twice 1st don't have a link but 2nd I do say I'm sorry I said the wrong forum. Actually it was in the LG wing guides news and discussion thread titled success! 5g working on demo LG wing. I got a response from the fellow and we texted quite a bit about it but he said his laptop with all the info was on consignment until the 2nd (Thursday). So I thought we could work some sort of deal out but it hasn't happened yet. Apparently flashing the correct image file 1st and then a different image after worked for him. I'm still interested in doing this but not in a hurry like I was at first, I am having a hard time finding the Verizon firmware.

So I searched again for passwords and I found a reddit lgwing thread that helped me even though the wording isnt very helpful. will update below with any updates

this page says some less than clear wording so i prefer to say this:
When LG Demo app asks for code use the short one 103729.
If the ok button isnt available like for developer options, use the long password L310MC570G
then you enable adb debugging etc as shown in this thread
Retail mode removal
Please could someone kindly show me how to remove the retail mode on my new V60 ThinQ handset.

so what happens after the above is it changes it from you cant do anything to you can do things like power off by putting in the longer password (L310MC570G). sadly the biggest snag still is that it wont go into download mode it just goes into the charging animation (powered off) so cant flash anything until this resolves. my other issue-free wing goes into dl mode no problem.
now it will adb reboot recovery so that might be something hopeful?
anyway if anyone knows what is wrong please help.
