Did you search through the stickies? I don't even have a dash/excalibur and I know they have vanilla roms available from paying attention around here a little. You probably ate through battery playing with the new stuff, lol.

Click on Kavana\Ricky in sig and you will see vanilla, have seen an increase in battery life since upgrade to WM6.1 but maybee this is made different by original ROM?
Also the ammount of RAM @ cold boot is practically the same as original ROM.
You don't need to go back to the boring 6.0 just take advantage of the power management options. I have mine set for display time out after 5 minutes and it makes a world of difference. Of course either way if you are on it constantly it is gonna drain faster no matter what you do or what rom you have. You can also get an extended life battery for your phone too.

well when i was using the 6.1 the battery dies quickly and since i been using the 6.0 again the battery lasted a lot longer than the 6.1 did.
6.1 lag so much and when i try to restart the phone it takes about a minute to show the homescreen. im thinking cause since its not a offical release and someone added alot of stuff in it made the phone hella slow and made the rom to powerful that eats up the battery.
and i dont think i want to buy that a new chunky battery for my dash, i dont like the way it looks.
i was looking thru this video (use IE to view the video) and i like whats on it so thats all im asking if theres a plain version of 6.1
first off, yes...6.1 might eat battery more. some of us have found it has, some found it hasnt. it also has a lot to do with how each of us sets up our phone. i can go through 2 OEM batteries per day with 6.0 or 6.1. thats a fact of life when you want your phone to be a computer...which is what smartphones/ppc's are. you can buy an extended battery that is OEM size (1500mah or 1550...something like that) for pretty cheap on ebay.
as far as a plain rom...again, like was posted earlier, install rickwyatts vanilla rom. it has very few bells and whistles. install the things you want.
like a computer, you have to maintain your phone. run sk tools or similar every once in a while to clean up all the old cache or crap thats cluttering it up. monitor your installed apps and where they are installed to (device or card). there should be NO reason any of the 6.1 roms on this forum should be in any way slower than 6.0. booting? who cares? so it takes a few extra seconds of your life....i will gladly waste that time to not have to use a tmobile 6.0 rom. with the oem roms, to me, they try the "lets see how much useless crap we can stuff in this rom to make it pretty for all the n00bs" technique...and that bothers me. some of the stuff doesnt even work! its just taking up resources that you CANT FREE UP due to all this crap being in the actual rom.
anyways..ill stop rambling.

so i decided to go with the shadow after having the dash for a bit. I must say after i upgraded to the rom to the latest tmo rom
this phone is VERY snippy and fast
lots of program memory avalible 75.00mb avalible
and storage memory is 149.00mb avalible
not bad phone overall no issues
Though have to do some tweeking to get the homescreens other than that good phone
your thoughts?
My first thought would be, I don't understand what your asking.
Are you bragging? Or trying to start a war?
I had a Shadow, it sucked for my needs, I sent it back and got a Dash.
Sounds like you already made up your mind on what phone you like best, so I would post in a forum that supports the Shadow.
UMMMM haha ok laughing at you
im asking what is everyones thoughts on this phone i have for 14 days loved the dash though this shadow seems faster looking for thoughts this way i can totally make up my mind
What bragging no bragging. What war? gotta be kidding me comeon now

You can download Shadow themes from here: http://freddyreyes.com/forums/index.php?board=18.0
and customizations from here:

excellent good job on those Freddy Props thanks for reply
Sorry OP, the way it appeared to me was that you were bragging about the Shadow being superior, etc.
When I had the Shadow, it sucked down batteries like crazy...I could not get a full days use out of it, thats why I went to the Dash...
Secondly, I really wanted a phone I could watch movies on. Although the Shadow can play movies, I found the experience much better on the Dash with the nice landscape screen. To me it was like night and day.
Third, I really wanted a full keyboard. Although I got used to the Shadows predictive typing, I much prefer the full keyboard of the Dash.
The Shadow is a nice phone, but falls short for what I wanted it to do.
I do miss the memory, and the quality of the screen was nice, but the Dash wins fills my needs better.
Where did you get the latest ROM for the Shadow?

Is the shadow an HTC phone?
yes it is a htc phone but guess what i just switched back to the dash im my opion better phone and built quality shadow has bettery memory and ram but dash is what im staying with
i had used the dash for almost a year when the shadow came out. I used the shadow for about 5 months and while the OS was quicker thanks to the extra 64mb of ram it has I absolutely hated the suretype keyboard and I went back to the dash a couple weeks ago and with the kavana 6.1 rom it is better than ever. I think I will stick with the dash until tmo releases a 3g wm professional phone.

@all,
havin been away from this forum for quite some time i am back in business.... and hunting to find speed in my roms (not neglecting finesse and stability though)!
so i dug up all off (marks) roms from the depth of my computer again....and am one hell of surprised about the speed of vanilla 2.01 (wm6.0) .
so, what are the real benefits of wm6.1 ???
greetz
ive not noticed any significant difference, hell, if you did a door step challenge on me between the two id be guessing

The only thing is the threaded SMS which is really nice and PIE has a zoom feature. I put it on my wifes MDA and she loves the SMS. But I think it's like Windows Vista. It ain't really worth it to upgrade to it if you've got a stable system on XP. I'm sticking with 6.0 until my next device.
I'm still using Meschle's O2 Premium Plus. Fast, stable and just very capable. Man, he was a great chef!
Meschle's was by far the best. Every other rom is FULL of other stuff that the developer likes but really slows the device down. Running task manager you can see the processor usage for these other apps and it makes the device sluggish.
Ive listend to the arguments and feel teh cube on the 3300 is wayyyyy toooooo sllllooooowwww to use. Its not even any good to show off to your mates its that bad.
Meschle's 6.1 Vanilla 4.02 is my fav. Nice, fast and ultra stable. No reset in 3 months

Yea, that's why I always opt'd for the versions without the cube. Useless anyway. What a joke. And Meschle had a great approach to building his ROMS. Stabilty, speed, & functionality seemed to be the order of priority and I really appreciated that.
As a matter of fact, I just did a hard reset and set my phone up all over again without all the custom phone dialers, themes, weather icons, and today screen changes. The regular ROM dosen't look all that great but it's so fast now. It's amazing how much all those extra cosmetic programs can zap your speed and how much the junk is left from programs that didn't really get uninstalled when you uninstalled them. My phone's always been pretty stable but now it's faster and stable.
Hey all. I'm a new Hermes junkie - I just got my 8525 off eBay, already flashed with MRH Sun Shower 8.4.
I REALLY love the ROM, but the problem is that it eats batteries for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Do you guys have any suggestions on a good diamond rom with good HTC apps, specifically HTC Home. I'd also need to have Office on there as well.
So in your opinion, what's the fastest, least power sucking ROM? I hit the benchmarks page, but I'm still cutting my teeth on all this new info. Thanks!
CRCs r13.0 its nice with device udate. best ever seen
The main power drains are the screen, and GSM, so make sure you have the right radio, that helps.
Loaded roms, like MRH, will use more power, I have found.
Bigstorage roms are faster, but you need to flash a shipped rom (use the stripped on in my 4shared), and tend to use a bit more battery.
Thanks for the info. I have emailed the guy that sold me the phone, and he did actually flash the phone with the stripped ROM (and i've downloaded and archived it myself) before loading MRH.
I did install MemMaid on the hermes and set the tweak for extreme speed, which seems to be working nicely - we'll see how that hits the batteries.
As far as updating the radio, what's a good suggestion on that? I admit, I'm still trying to dive in and catch up on the terminology/methods, etc on this thing.
This is a fantastic phone

Radio depends where you live 14.00.00.00 (I think) seems to be good for tmobile usa.
thought i wanna start the thread regarding battery life on both 6.5 and 6.5.X both are great and ive been using both builds evenly and i believe 6.5 still got the edge of using less battery IMHO because its the most stable at this moment
whats your take?

Thats a pretty difficult question to ask. When flashing a rom it takes a few cycles for the battery to get back to "normal" as we all know flashing roms often leads to the battery discharging very quickly the first few days. After that its usually fine. But after a few days who remembers what the battery life was like on their previous rom? I mean, unless it was just god awful!
Tilt 2 with E2ROM just put the latest Android w/sense and it looks cool and nice features...but it runs horribly slow. I tried removing and doing it again still really, really slow response between apps, even the touch screen lags.

yeah, this is known already. it doesnt have much free ram left with the sense version. try the AOSP 2.1 build, alot more stable and faster. plus data and service wrks off the bat without setting it up. u can always customize it to look like the sense version. like i have done. if u were to look at my phone, ud think i had the sense version in there. u can always get new widgets, clocks., etc...
if they ever get this 100% and then flashable to ROM, it will be awesome seeing ATT offers crap for android

There are 5 ATT Android devices about to be released.
Any with full hardware keyboard, maybe I'll go to an ATT store? But, I already spent the money on the TP2 so would like the full port of android someday soon.

I feel the same way. AOSP is so much faster and more stable. I think it only caused me extra clicks and make the system running more sluggishly. Could someone please enlighten me how Sense is useful?
