soft reset button no worky

i flashed des3 ealrier today and found for some reason the soft reset button under the beast doesnt respond, ive also found the same prob with lvsw aswell, is this unique to me or have others found this aswell, if not is there a reg settin that mayhave been screwed up on my hermes

i think u may have poked your stylus too many times in that hole. might be a hardware problem unique to you.

it is strange as if i flash back to vannila etc the button works fine again....very wierd

yupp button is fritzed, work around is taking the battery out or usin a softreset app so no biggie

free soft reset app PHM Reset works;
wisbar lite (now for WM6!) is my favorite.

'Phone' button won't work after Blak Majik

I've installed WM6 Blak Majik and everything is great except for one thing..
When I press the 'phone' button (you know, the metal one to the left of the left soft key), nothing happens.
This means that if i want to make a call, the only way i can get to the dialer is to go through the start menu and select 'phone' which is very frustrating.
Has anyone else noticed this after installing Blak Majik and how can i fix it?
How can i re-map this button?
(I don't have 3G video calling).

they are hardware buttons... try a reflash... you are the only one that has seen this issue.... and in future post issues about that ROM here

Same issue for me but that goes for all hardware buttons, and yes I have flashed several times

its not an issue with the ROM guys.... try flashing a different ROM...

Have tried the all my friend, started off with Schaps and ended with Black Majik.
Due to anonther error I have flashed them several times. This error that I have got on all ROMS later or sooner is the white screen (i.e. the screen goes white but the phone still works). It is like an reversed screensaver.
To add to the strange list, my phone buttons are flashing more or less the whole time.
I am using Hard SPL v7 if someone is curios

sounds like you have a hardware issue and not a software issue... time to flash back to the original ROM and send it back...

Thats my plan!

This bug is random, so, it is not a hardware problem.
Sometimes, the buttons on the front face work, sometimes they don't. But the other buttons, around the Qtek, works always.

The round phone button (3G phone button) doesn't work with Black Majik, just use the green phone button to enter the phone software

It didn't work neither if being in the phone software. You had to press video on-screen button...

you do realize that black majik doesnot have a 3g dialer build it, you have to install the video dialer after flashing.
also the only hardware button on black majik that doesnt work is the 3G dialer button.(simple solution for getting to the phone software, press the green call button)
as for the other ROMs al the ones i have tryed have all hardware buttons working.
(also ive never had a ROM flash that i need to do twice coz something went wrong, i didnt think anything could go wrong, the cooks wouldnt release something that didnt work as drestically as having no hardware buttons!!)

so OBVIOUSLY if you know that black majic doesnt have a 3G dialer, you know that you need to go to the black majik site abd download the add-on for 3G dialer

Have you read the first 2 posts? firstly Black Majik is a NON Video Calling ROM (all of the black roms are i think), yes the hardware button is disabled, no i dont know how to remap it, i dont think you can i think it needs done before the ROM is compiled (not sure)
Also a quick fix to get to the "phone" function (which is what the button you are talking about is used for) press the green call button is launched the "phone" software!
no matter wat you do i dont think you will get the hardware button working, unless you are real good at cooking ROMs, since we are talkin i assume you wont be able to do this, as neither can i!!!
(sorry if i sound short, in wrk n not got lots of time to type this stuff!!)
However if someone does know how to remap this particular button please share!!!

Button Tester?

hey guys,
my green answer call button doesnt seem to work. i'm wondering if its the rom or the phone. it still lights up but doesnt respond when i push the button.
any suggestions like a button tester program?

Are you having any problems with any other keys?
If its just the one you can break your phone down and check your connections and see if anythings loose or damaged. Make sure to go to the Wiki and check out the guide on how to properly take your phone apart.

Starting to wonder about malfunctioning buttons posts
I myself posted a thread on my malfunctioning power button . I am getting the feeling that certain apps and tweaks are causing some of these malfunctioning hardware buttons to happen. Not exactly a scientific point of view, but I think lots of this button malfunctioning (no matter which one), can eventually be resolved by HR or as mentioned in another post, Clear Storage. I myself, within a minute, pulled out my SDMicro card out for 15 seconds, took off Quickmark application (last app or cab put on my system), and my power button turns on/off as it should. I had to resort to SR's when I had my problem..........................
Latest: Found out that my main problem was NOT any of the above,, it all seemed to occur because of a buildup of Notification Queue's,, so check that out... I think that those queue's can be a source of a lot of problems

softreset doest fix it so i will have to resort to hard reseting.
lucky the vodaphone version has the 3G phone button and i can use that to get to the dial pad but it then assumes my calls are 3G which are annoying

has anyone got any suggestions then?
i flashed K's new rom and still my 'Green Answer Phone' button doesnt work.

i had a similiar problem when installing a different dialer via cab.
i would suggest to either install a naked rom (like pandora naked) or one of the older roms (like schaps v3.x).
do not install any other cabs and see if the green button is working.

i flashed pandora naked rom and it still doesnt work.
any one have any other suggestions?
if not will i have to take the phone apart :S?

the Irda doesn't work at all, when i install a program to use my tytn as a remote for my tv, and i try to clone my remote i get an error saying "Irda port being used by another application"
and it wont communicate with over devices via Irda. other than that it works great...does anybody know a way to fix this problem?
p.s. tried other roms, Irda works fine, so it's not the phone.
please help this lost soul!!

sorry, posted in wrong area! rookie mistake! forget about it!

A general rule I follow is not to use too many .cabs as certain apps and tweaks can cause some of these malfunctionings to happen.
You cant be installing cabs for everything on your phone. Do you really have so much space in your phone?

seem like more of a hardware problem to me. you can still try checking for bad blocks, flashing another radio, but that all may be futile. look up the disassembly guides in the wiki. mikechannon also has some stuff on that, if u click on his sig

Question: HTC Messaging Cursor Lag with Physical Hardware Keyboard

I'm not sure if this has been addressed in a thread before, but I've noticed that sometimes when I'm texting in HTC Messaging on my physical hardware keyboard, there's lag in the blinking cursor and it somewhat jumps slowly among my last letters when I'm typing.
Is there already a fix for this?

Sometimes I get the same thing. My last phone was the original Tilt, and there was a fix for it in the Kaiser forums (HWKeyboardSpeedup.cab, or some very similar name, cant miss it). I dont know for sure, but its possibly just a reg edit in cab form for some keyboard delay setting or sensitivity or something. I havent tried it on this device cause its not nearly as bad on my Tilt2, dont know if it would work on this device, but it might be worth a shot for ya. If it doesnt work, you can just uninstall it and do a soft-reset.
Edit: Let me know if you try it and it works so I can do it on my phone too!

If you have XT9 on while using the keyboard, your typing will lag and possibly might not recognize the space bar when you hit it and all your words can be one long word. Make sure XT9 is off when using the hardware keyboard.

At first, that's what I thought, but I found that regardless of being in ABC or XT9 mode, there's the same constant lag.

I did some research and found the thread for it, but the TP2 users who have tried it seemed to have issues already. I didn't want to get caught up in it either.

Physical Keyboard stops working

Quite frequently, my glide's physical keyboard stops working. A reboot fixes it but is kind of annoying to do this once a day
This is a new phone (less than a week old) and I am trying to find out if this is a known issue and if there is a fix for it. If my phone is defective, I might be able to still get a replacement from newegg.
I notice that there was another thread in XDA on the same topic but it quickly moved on to discuss some other issue with no clear advice.

Stops working all together or opens up different applications when you press a key? I had the latter. If it is the apps opening up double check you do not have any shift type button stuck as that would make it act funny and appear to not be working properly.
Tap on "ALT", "SHIFT", "SEARCH" see if that fixes it.

If it is launching Different apps then it is the Quick launch that is the cause. You can see what Shortcut is associated with which app go here:Settings -> Applications -> Quick Launch
Most Launch with Search + any key. Perhaps your search button is stuck.

If the random apps are opening, open the landscape keyboard and press the search button. If you accidentally press it and then you press a corresponding letter to open a certain app, it'll so that. And when you hit back, the phone thinks that you pressed the wrong letter key and has that quick open on. Just press search again. That's all lol

I am on stock. It's just annoying when it happens at least once in 2 days.
I am thinking of rooting it and installing a custom rom to see if that takes care of it. Will keep you all posted.
I might turn on the debugging level in the logs as well to see if I can find out what's going on. Given that this happens only every two days or so, not sure if that will help much but let me see.

I am on Rogers stock ROM. At this point, it certainly looks like something to do with the software (will be hard to find several of us having the same hardware problem).

My keyboard stops working too, but this doesn't happen very often. I experience this about once in 3-4 weeks for now.

I have had this problem a few times as well (on stock AT&T).. QWERTY doesn't respond at all, reboot fixes it! Got me worried the first couple of times though

I continue to run in to this once in a while. I have tried pressing all kinds of keys (search, alt etc) with no success. At times, I see some of the keys working but not others.
Anyway, this looks like software / driver issue. Looks like reboot is the only cure so far.
