Artemis ball button failure - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Hello
I did search the forums but with no success.
Ball button stopped working. Device still recognizes ball movements but pressing the ball doesn't seem to make any effect since yesterday.
Tried resetting device but no luck. To me it seems that microswitch may have been damaged.
Has anyone encountered this problem ? Should I return the device to Tmobile under warranty or is there another way to deal with it ? I also reflashed os to wm6 couple months ago. Is this breach of any warranty conditions ?
Thank you
Chris

The ball button no longer works on my Orbit. I had put it down to using the latest B&B ROM, but it could well be hardware failure. I don't really want to downgrade to a WM 5.0 based ROM to find out.

ZUCCSTER - My unit was supplied with Wm6 so I know the track ball works with that OS.
PROHIBEAT - You may be lucky enough that they ignore or do not identify the change in your flashed ROM but to my understand flashing the ROM does void the warranty. I'd say it's still worth a try in getting them to look at it if no one else comes up with options.

Help !! My SX66 touchscren stopped working !!

Hey guys
I was wondering if anyone can help me with fixing my touch screen option. It hasnt been working, and No i didnt drop the PDA or anything, my screen is as bright as new, but suddenly sisnce yesterday it stopped working and no soft reset or hard reset can fix this.
My phone is a SX66 of Cingular (AT&T varient)
I have been using this for almost a year without any problems at all.
UPDATE
Amid all the hard resets, all of a sudden. once my touch screen started working. but just after few mins of use it slowly started malfunctioning and finally it stopped totally. Which kinda leads me to believe that there may be a software/firmware glitch !
So I downgraded to my original system and extended roms. hard resetted, but didnt work (since i cant by pass the touch screen alignment tests, im using a remote PC based software to control my PDA as its synced through USB)
Now heres my help query. I observed that doesnt matter what ROMs (system, extended, radio etc) i have upgrade or downgrade my PDA splash screen remained as the one i originally changed to, same goes with the unlocking of my GSM PDA, i never had to use unlocker ever after the 1st time i did it.
Which means. theres a place in the PDA where these information are stored permanently and doesnt get flushed when u flush ROMs. Im guessing what if theres the TOUCHSCREEN initiation file/firmware/software which kicks in everytime when u start the PDA from the same place which doesnt get flushed. And that Touchscreen enable/disable file is either accidentally disabled or corrupt !
Is there any such file of the touch screen initiation ?
Is there any way I can remove any such files from registry, storage and copy back fresh ones ? That way i would sure its a hardware glitch and not a software. Like I said, my gut feeling is there may be a touchscreen initiation file which doesnt get flushed even when ur upgrading or downgrading the ROMs; and that file is either Disabled or Corrupt.
Can any developers help ? Would be kind if you can pass this queries to our very good friends at the xda-developers.
Thanks

Dutch company, very pro and efficient altough tthe best way is to ship the money with the broken pda.
They have any part.
I've tried it 2 weeks ago and I'm very happy with the service.
Go and check the site
Hey Thanks for the link man, unfortunately Im based out of Asia so ya it kinda sucks as theres no repair shop around my area. Closest prolly will be Singapore or Thailand (i hope)
But im still hoping some techy at the xda-developers checks this issue and prolly be able to finally come to conclusion if its a software or a hardware fault.

(TMO) TP2 Turns off when screen is closed.

Hi all,
I tried doing a search on this before posting this thread. No luck. I just got my TP2 on sunday. I let it charge and flashed HardSPL and a few roms. I noticed my phone would turn completely off when I open and close the screen. At first, I thought it was the display turning off to save power, but the phone is actually turning completely off and I need to hit the power button and boot it back up again. Is this a setting I need to change? Or could there be something wrong with my phone? I also tried going back to the stock rom to eliminate that as a cause and the same thing happens.
Any help is appreciated.
I have posted an almost similar question here with no reply.

Not sure what the problem is. In my case the solution is not to close the keyboard when OneNote Mobile is still open!
My colleague is having the same prob, from what he is experiencing, i would suggest a hardware fault, probably just a loose ribbon cable... but best send it back to HTC to avoid voiding your warranty

Hi,
I had this issue to and send the phone in for repair. The said that it was a problem with the mainboard - replaced it and send it back. It now works perfect.
REMEMBER!!! If you want to send the TP2 in for repair you must reflash the SPL back to the original one, I think it is 0.79.0000 (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131 for how to restore to the original HardSPL)
discoverd the same issue, happened to me about a week ago for a few times, when i slide in/out the keyboard. It just habbend about 4 times, but didn't happend again since this time ... i will have a eye on it...
Same here. The screen turns off completely but the phone actually works and I can receive or place calls. Called the HTC support and they advised to try if a hard reset will fix it before sending the phone in. The tricky part here is that this issue can not be recreated easy in their service as it happens randomly with me (sometimes it works fine for days). I am still trying to find out what causes this issue on first place. I think it started right after I installed IGO 8 and changed some power settings in the ini file but it kept doing this after I removed it. I also tried to disable the light sensor (the one that turns the screen off when you place the handset to your ear during a call) because it looks exactly like this - screen turns off but the phone works. So, I will give it another week and I will try the hard reset.
What roms do you guys have this issue with? I am using the stock T-Mobile US with HardSPL.

Did they replace the entire phone or just the mainboard?

Sorry, forgot to update this thread. I ended up getting a replacement from TMO. I am much happier now that my phone doesn't turn off whenever I close the screen. Get a replacement while you can and ask them nicely if they can overnight it to you. I did.
Actually, this was a software problem in my case - I did the hard reset 2 weeks ago and since then I have not experienced the issue. I am going to start installing my previous programs one by one to find out what caused the problem.
Same
I have the same problem,
The hard reset solve the problem?

problems with touch screen .. or do not know exactly what could be(android????)

hi all
seeing rapid growth which has Android on our phones I would like to remember that you are exposed to risks.
while trying andoid on my phone, on the radio 1.15.25.14, and a cooked rom, my screen went to crazy. I could use only one line of display, I tried to recalibrate but without success. I reset the phone (hard) and nothing. I put the original software in orange and recovered (I have changed and radio). a while I used that software, but I recently changed to winmo 6.5. Once I use the phone while it was connected to electricity, and I noticed that if it warms my problem with the screen reappears. if it is cold is OK. If anyone knows I want to help me get rid of this problem. Or if a physical problem to know what it is. I really like Android but I would like to remind those who already want to put in an official ROM that might think twice. Thanks and wish those who develop Android to do a good job.

Touch Pro 2 Turns off randomly

I have this new T-Mobile Touch Pro 2. I currently have the Stock European ROM (6.5) on it. Before that, I was using the TMO 6.5 version. My problem is that the phone randomly freezes/dies/turns itself off while sitting idle. And every time it happens, I either have to soft reset it or take the battery out and put it back in to turn it back on. Simply pressing the power button doesn't do anything. Funny thing is that this phone is a replacement that was sent to me by T-Mobile because my first device was doing the same thing (which I had for about a month). T-Mobile tech support was just as lost as me. Can anyone here help me?
I have the exact same problem! Have you found a solution or at least learned the cause of the problem ?
Phone turns off ramdomly
Hi
I have the same problem the phone is shutting down ramdomly without any warning and i have to use the power button to turn it on again
any solution guys ??
Did you task29 the rhodium before flashing the new rom?
Sometimes flashing the new rom doesn't clear the memory properly leaving traces of old files to foul up the operation. Flashing task29 before flashing a new rom will stop this.
After you flash task29 there will be NO os on the rhodium. You will need to pull the battery, Put it into bootloader and then flash new rom from PC or use sd card method.
Cheers...
I have exactly the same problem, 2-3 times a day, I need to soft reset it. The phone was working well until I moved from 6.1 (original) to 6.5; I believe the new radio has issues. Any recommendation, flashing the radio does not solve the problem.
I used to have 1-3 SODs a day. Now I have only one SOD a month. My solution was to remove compact framework 3.5 and that weathersolution where you can add new cities. By the way; I upgraded to WM 6.5. Before the upgrade I had no SODs.
Sorry to bring up an old topic, but I recently acquired a Touch Pro 2 (RHOD100, original HTC model) and having exact the same issue. There's no saying when it's happening, but always during an action. Had it when pressing the End key after a call, when pulling the Usb cable from the device, and during other things too.
Hardware seems fine, battery is firmly in place and contacts are fine, and clean.
Having factory WM 6.5 Rom on it. And like mentioned before, I also do have Compact Framework 3.5 installed since it's required by some of my software.
Anyone ever found a solution that's confirmed to solve the issue?
I'm sorry for bumping up an old thread but after doing a search this was the first one that was listed which isn't 'That old'. I have just bought one of these phones, brand new, from factory. It comes with windows 6.5 and runs the OS version for the phone is - 5.2.21887 (21887.5.0.86) The phone seems to randomly just shut off without notice and to be able to turn it back on again to use it, I've got to take the battery out and put it back in again, then it will be able to turn back on. When the phone does enter the state of completely turning itself off. I have noticed that my notification LED light does flash green, I don't know why it does this. But if anyone has some help for me to sort this problem out and enable me to use my phone perfectly then that would be great!
Yet again, sorry for bumping up an oldish thread

[Q] Wifi&Bluetooth problem (multiple roms already tested without success)

Q: What can I try to solve my problem.
Problem: Wifi and Bluetooth stop working. Wifi is hang out after switching on and back to off state, Bluetooth can be turned on, but I can't send any files to other devices (tried windows phone and another android 4.0.4 samsung galaxy s2 stock rom).
I've already tried:
1. ROMs 4.0.4 (blackout), 4.1.x codefireX and jelly time - in all of them the problems where pretty similar.
2. During installing new rom, in clockwork i've wiped out user data/make factory reset/wipe cache/wipe cache for virtual partition as well.
3. Try to use WiFix Manager, applying a fix with no success.
4. Try another SD card to be sure about the old data wiped out.
If someone have any suggestions I will be greatful for any tips. I've used custom roms for 2 years, with no problems, just follow the instructions here on forum, but now I'm stuck. Thanks in advance for any help and finally - thanks for all devs for their very good work
Try CyanogenMod 7. If not then run an RUU to return to fully stock. If that doesn't work then its a hardware problem and needs to be repaired
Success is sweet but revenge is so delicious
Unless you are the same fella, the two of you can try and find any common variables. Quite odd that both of you have the same issue around the same time.

No not the same person very weird. Although my bluetooth doesnt turn on either I also noticed yesterday my Volume buttons have stopped working completly. My DHD is out of warrenty so I have ordered a new mainboard Flex cable also hoping it may fix the WIFI as the connectors for the battery cover are on this (http://www.tmart.com/LCD-Flex-Cable...C-Desire-HD-Inspire-4G-G10-A9191_p161463.html) if it works I will let you know.
Did yours just pack up or was it after a flash or something, Have you tried going back to a previous restore?

Thanks for all the tips. I'm not the guy from the mentioned thread. It's true that my volume buttons also stop working. It happens just one day, when I didn't do anything to my DHD, I don't even install any kind of updates at that time. I've using 4.0.4 blackout for about 6 months, with no problems, everything was working. Then, suddenly wifi stop working, bluetooth also, volume buttons too. Looks as hardware problem to mee but I want to be sure, before spending money to repair it.
I'll keep fingers crossed and hope that flex replacement do the job. Can't wait for the good news.
The main board flex cable did it, wifi has never worked so well, volume buttons too and bluetooth. Very fiddly to install and i will say there is no guarentee it will fix your problem.
I ended up ordering from ebay as tmart took my money then said they had no stock. £28 in the end and dont forget the tools, getting the flash cover off is painful without the correct tool. There is a you tube video on dismantling the phone, good luck.
