Hi there,
Got a question with regards to updating the ROM. Will this wipe the contact that I've saved? I understand that the internal storage is safe, but what about things like sms/contact and software that i've installed?
Thanks
yes, it will be wiped out... you can use outlook to sync your data, or download PIM backup (search this site) to backup contacts, sms etc..

..so you get in setting>regional and change..and after it will be recognised!
Don't do a full restore, though. Only data. I found out that a full restore actually reverted the latest ROM upgrade, so I had to do a hard reset. WLAN range was affected.
connect the cradle
insert the Blue Angel in the cradle
Use GUEST profile
Full restore
Active sync will then restore it
BUT:
If you just upgraded ROM then it will restore old windows files and you will have to do a hard reset and you have to restore again just DATA

If you perform a full resotre you WILL be restoring your oder SW version (ie: OS, radio stack, etc..)
You best bet is to install an app such as Pocketdb to export your databases and then import them afterwords.
If all you are concerned with is files, contacts, calendar, tasks, notes, etc... then just perform a full sych with the device with your PC (files, contacts, calendar, tasks, notes, etc...) and the resynch it after the upgrade.
Since it will be necessary to delete your existing partnership, do not delet the files, etc...

If you use Sprite Backup, there is a procedure on their forum to restore after an upgrade.

Hi Everyone
I am having an issue with Titanium Backup, and would like to know if anyone have had similar problem and would know how to solve that.
TB would not restore my accounts. I have notably Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync accounts for my mails (as they are the only one apparently allowing push emails). I have made backups and restore after a change of rom, and it didn't work out for my accounts.
I read similar issues on forums, where it was advised to do a complete backup and restore.
I made the following test: I used batch, then Backuo all user apps + system Data. I deleted one of my accounts. Then batch restore (I made restore missing appa + all system data, where I selected restore data only). It did not replace the account I deleted.
Can you advise me doing something differently.
Thanks in advance for your help

Still trying to figure this out myself as well, as well as possibly somehow restoring widgets...
Have you tried (from your description it doesn't look like it) backing up apps and system data separately ? Then just restore the data
Hi guys,
Im currently facing the same issue too.
I manage to restore all apps with data including bookmarks. But it doesnt restore the actual Email accounts such as my Yahoo and gmail.
So everytime I flash a new ROM, I have to manually set them up again.
Hopefully there is a way
works for me
Hi guys, did anyone managed to backup and restore it ?
it seems like titanium backup it as when I do a full restore i find it but just can't identify which packages are involved ..
Quite sure that email alone is not enough ..
I'm having the same issue. It's accounts and sync we are after. It's not an option as far as I can tell.

Hi,
I'm having the same issue.
Just installed Vanilla Root Box 4.2 yesterday on my Galaxy S2 and again I wasn't able to restore correctly my email accounts (both IMAP and EXCHANGE "Corporate").
How I proceeded :
RomNuke
Install Root Box 4.2
Restore Accounts (data)
Restore Email (app + data)
Restore Exchange Services (app + data)
When you explore Accounts TB says it's a DB in /data/system/users/0/accounts.db.
Once I setup my email account, I can see it here.
*A bit sad that Exchange passwords are in plain text here*
So I thought that would be the solution.
But when I restore it, all but email accounts are restored.
Someone has a trick to restore correctly email accounts ?
Thanks
Up.
Unfortunatly never manage to Backup/Restore those email!!
When setting up a new Rom it is very time consumming to have to re-configure them...
If at least it was possible to restore emails + Config, and I will confirme the passwords after that...
Hi guys, sorry for the lame question. I feel bad asking because I've done dozens of different ROM installs on all kinds of different phones down the years, but there's always something I've never got.
How do I back up all my SMS's, installed apps etc and restore them after I've done a FULL WIPE and installed a new ROM? (SMS is the main one, I hate losing all those)

The process I'd suggest you for transferring your data when switching ROMs is:
1. Back up
For SMS's, use SMS Backup & Restore. It creates a backup XML which will be used to restore your SMS's after wiping.
For apps and their data, use Titanium Backup (Requires root).
For calls, Call Logs Backup and Restore. It also creates a backup XML like SMS Backup and Restore.
For contacts, I personally sync them using my Google account. If you don't like this you can use MyPhoneExplorer or any contacts backup app.
2. Full Wipe & ROM install
2b. Root your ROM if it is not rooted already.
3. Install Titanium Backup from an APK or Play Store.
4. Use Titanium Backup to restore user apps and their data. I suggest restoring ONLY user apps, unless you know what you are doing. Now it is also a good time to check which apps you really need to restore, since you may have back ups of applications that you don't need anymore.
5. Restore your SMS's and call logs from their backup XMLs using their respective applications.
6. Restore your contacts by syncing or by using the app you chose to back them up.
I've found some that backup to XML won't work if you have pictures in your messages. So either, save the pictures off, or you can use this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=backup.email.inapp&hl=en
It uses your Google account to backup and store your MMS/SMS messages. It works great.
How about using LG backup. It can backup both apps and data so I think it can both backup sms and call logs...
I upgrade Xperia S by pc compinion. After I open the phone it stucks sony boot logo and I want to reach contacts and messages. How I recover them? I need help.

I was upgrading to Jelly Bean 4.1.2 update to 6.2.B.1.96 it is unlocked and I don't want to lose contacts and messages. If I use flash tool by unchecking wipe data and wipe cache, will messages and contacts lose? or anything else what can I do not lose them?

If you signed in to google account then all your contacts must be backed up or synchronized automatically.so when you flash a new rom and sign in to that google account, all of your contacts are again recovered from there automatically by synchronization.alsoYou can take backup of contacts manually to your sd card.there is also an app called SMS backup which can backup your SMS and restore it after flashing.

yes I know that but I didn't synchronise google account my contacts and I search flashing a rom from xda. If I flash a rom,Contacts and message will delete only sd card does not delete but I wonder that only when I start flash tools, I see some options like wipe data, wipe cache. If I tick off them, my contacts and message will delete or not delete?

When you are switching from an older version of rom its recommended to wipe all except sd card to avoid any bugs...if you don't wipe cache or dalvik then your device may boot or may not...so in my opinion you take backup of all ur necessary things and flash as your wish...and share your experience here...
