..so you get in setting>regional and change..and after it will be recognised!
Don't do a full restore, though. Only data. I found out that a full restore actually reverted the latest ROM upgrade, so I had to do a hard reset. WLAN range was affected.
connect the cradle
insert the Blue Angel in the cradle
Use GUEST profile
Full restore
Active sync will then restore it
BUT:
If you just upgraded ROM then it will restore old windows files and you will have to do a hard reset and you have to restore again just DATA

If you perform a full resotre you WILL be restoring your oder SW version (ie: OS, radio stack, etc..)
You best bet is to install an app such as Pocketdb to export your databases and then import them afterwords.
If all you are concerned with is files, contacts, calendar, tasks, notes, etc... then just perform a full sych with the device with your PC (files, contacts, calendar, tasks, notes, etc...) and the resynch it after the upgrade.
Since it will be necessary to delete your existing partnership, do not delet the files, etc...

If you use Sprite Backup, there is a procedure on their forum to restore after an upgrade.

My question is if there is a way to back up my files, upgrade the ROM and then returne the files back, but without copying each on. In other words, what is usually done when you want to upgrade your ROM and keep your existing files + contacts and calendar entries, tasks etc.
Thank You in advance for your co-operation :!:
when you upgrade, all your non-synchronized files, contacts, reminders,,,etc will be lost!
Since the device makes synchronization everytime you dock it in the cradle, no worries about losing contact & other data, cause once you upgrade & resync the data with outlook, everything will return back to the device from outlook.
But be careful that all programs installed on the device, along with their data, WILL BE LOST upon upgrading the device!!
You need to reinstall the programs after upgrading..!
As an advice,, always make FULL backup of the device prior to upgrading it! In case any problem occured or you just remembered that you forgot to save some data, you can easily restore your old system..
You can also use commercial software to backup your data, and selectively restore the database(s) you want. Sprite Pocket Backup has worked fine for me for the last few years, and its exceptionally faster than the builtin utilities.
Hi, I made a STG backup by activesync, unfortunately my device was hard reseted and now I want to restore all messages, however, I dont want to replace the current ones, just to add the messages from backup. Any ideas how?
Hey all
Like everyone else here i love flashing the new cooked roms. LVSW's work a treat.
However it pains me to have to reinstall all my programs.
If i update to say the new LVSW rom can i use SPB backup to backup my current info and then just restore the backup on the new roms. Is there any particular things that should or should be backuped up.
It sounds to simple but would this work or would it just end up causing problems with the new rom.
Is there any other program that might do this.
Cheers.
If you are changing ROMs then the answer is no. Backups only help you if you have to hard-reset to reload a clean version of the same ROM.
tried using sprite and moving between LSVW and Black, seems to be fine, i guess YMMV
Add/Remove Programs
Once all of the slick utilities come together for running customizations after hard reset or flash, the only thing I would think pertinent to restore would be things like call history or text/sms messages.
If you can restore your WiFI, GPRS/3G/MMS settings via a cab, and your apps in one simple run of Activesync or WMDC, why would you want to risk overlaying a program or registry setting?
Bits change between builds. This is no different than loading a service pack or upgrading from XP SP2 to Vista. I wouldn't even consider doing a restore of anything except "My Documents" and some data.
Until backup utilities allow for selective restore, they get loaded on my device as do the rest of my software. After a hard reset and through Add Programs. I then delete my old backups, get the device set up the way I want it, then backup. This way I'm assured that if I have to hard reset once I'm on a particular version, I can restore functionality with a restore.
My .02
Cheers.
I thought it would be a long shot.
Thanks for your help.

I have been using SPB Backup to restore the entire OS, the contacts database are not interchangeable between WM5 & WM6, but I can swap between WM5/WM6 by just restoring a full backup of either. SPB works ok with WM6, with exception to a couple temp files in the system area cannot be locked to be backed up, and the scheduled backup will not fire.

with wm5, i can full restore ~4-5 minutes.
with wm6 it will take ~30 > mins.
Hello guys,
Me & my girlfriend both using (O2 Ignito) Diamond, and somehow she is messing-up the device every month and I have to hard-reset her device and spend a whole 3 continous hours on installing and configuring her Diamond.
Can someone PLEASE Tell me / Guide me how can I make a "COMPLETE backup (including StorageCard software installaions and Registry)" of her device after installing everyyyyyything, and then every month just run the automated restore process.
1. Keep it in mind that during the configuration & installation I am also editing few bits in the registry for example changing the AC_S2U2 setting etc., I want all of the registry to backed-up as well.
2. I am also installing some big softwares on the StorageCard e.g. SPB Online which is 12mb, so I have to include that in the backup as well.
3. Her Diamond's ROM is the Original O2 Stock Rom (1.93)
I would highly appreciate someone's expert advice.

I would suggest to buy Resco Backup. This peace of software can make a full backup, and if restored to the same ROM as the backup was made, will preserve all settings. Just keep in mind that with a restore you have to check the option Full Restore.
Thanks henk2484,
I will give it a try for this month's restore.

I use SPB Back up 2.0 with no problems.
I create one backup called a clean install after a hard reset with all programs loaded and settings adjusted, and then a back up every month to make sure I save emails and texts etc.

SPB Backup can also be configured to make automatic backups of everything (PIM Data, Emails, My Documents, System Data, Storage Card) or whatever part(s) you choose. You can enable it to run at specified day(s) and time.
What's nice is, it can restore even to a different ROM and/or on a different device, and it creates the backups as .exe file, so you don't have to reinstall the program just to restore. It will do everything.
What works for me: I make manual "Full" backups whenever I install new software. (This takes about 3-4 minutes.) Other than that, every night at 3 o'clock, it automatically makes a backup of my documents, e-mails, and sms. If something bad happens, I hard-reset, restore that big full backup, and restore the latest small "document" backup, everything works out.
Definitely recommended!
Thankyou soo much guys, thats a huge amount of advices, I will definitely try some of these and see which one better.

I have several apps and data on my Desire... Currently I am running a MIUI-rom. I already made a backup of the rom... If I decide to flash a new rom, does that mean I will lose all my data, like saves from games and stuff like that?
hi,
so if you dont backup them you will lose them probably
TitatniumBackup can save your user apps + data, so this will not be lost
but system data(wifi spots, contacts, bookmarks, ...) could also be backuped but with care!
if you change the android version most of the system apps change and also if you change rom type it will probably not work.
i can tell you how i do save all my data.
1. i do a complete nandroidbackup (if you want 2 go back from where you came)
2. a Titanium´Backup (sometimes system data could also be restored)
3. i use MyPhoneExplorer to backup my Contacts
4. MyBackup Root, to save my Sms/mms and other stuff (exept from Contact wich are put in the Google Account i like the app
Sounds a little bit much, but most of the apps have advantages at some point but also flaws on a other point!
ps.: yep i know most of them could be stored in the cloud but i like it lokal
I use the Google backup feature when registering my account on first boot.
Last time, all my user apps and data restored, plus wifi profiles, system settings etc (even my wallpaper) were reapplied. I did nandroid and TiBu also but didn't use them at all!
To use this you could nandroid backup, wipe everything, restore and check the options re backup when registering. Then wipe everything again, flash rom of choice, and wait. You may need a reboot for all the changes to take effect!
that kind of datas are stored in SDCard, so if you don't format it, you should not have problems, but always do a backup before flashing
