You have to place both the jar and the jad in the same dir.
The jad only isn't enough.
Didn't try it though.
Install any email client with IMAP support and enjoy gmail.

Thanks for these suggestion. I am using really great e-mail application "ProfiMail". However I really like this on-line mobile java application of gmail (I am using it on my SE p990). This is very convenient and doesn't need to store messages locally - that's why I am trying to start this java gmail.
Adwinp: I could not to download separate JAD and JAR files, because the download and installation process is automated after click on link on page http://gmail.com/app
There is no installation files for download manually...
Is anybody can help me in this, please?
Regards!

If you don't want to store them on your phone, use opera and access googles webmail... it has a mobile version as well...

stands for Internet Message Access Protocol. It is a method of accessing electronic mail or bulletin board messages that are kept on a (possibly shared) mail server. In other words, it permits a "client" email program to access remote message stores as if they were local. For example, email stored on an IMAP server can be manipulated from a desktop computer at home, a workstation at the office, and a notebook computer while traveling, without the need to transfer messages or files back and forth between these computers.
IMAP's ability to access messages (both new and saved) from more than one computer has become extremely important as reliance on electronic messaging and use of multiple computers increase, but this functionality cannot be taken for granted: the widely used Post Office Protocol (POP) works best when one has only a single computer, since it was designed to support "offline" message access, wherein messages are downloaded and then deleted from the mail server. This mode of access is not compatible with access from multiple computers since it tends to sprinkle messages across all of the computers used for mail access. Thus, unless all of those machines share a common file system, the offline mode of access that POP was designed to support effectively ties the user to one computer for message storage and manipulation. more...

I am getting an issue similar to yours where I go to m.google.com/mail/ and click "install", and it says there's no app that can open gmail.jad. On my old phone, it downloaded and installed it so I dunno what's up with this. eBuddy's online client for the Diamond and OperaMini both do the same things as well.
I'm on the Sprint version.
I have had the gmail app working for a while on my motoA3100 wm6.1 fone but suddenly it has ceased to remember the email settings after exiting ...I uninstalled, downloaded the recent minor version update, and still no luck ...what to do? ...corrupt settings database file somewhere that needs deletion?

k, so we all agree that this phone does quite a lot,
but I often find myself wanting to take a few notes, just a line or 2 and I couldnt find a program in my phone that does it...
Is there some kind of notepad or sticky notes for this device on WM5?
Thanks for the help!
Install OneNote. You can install it if you have MS Office installed. Just open up OneNote on the desktop and go to its options and you will see the option to install OneNote Mobile.
Its great. It lets me attach recordings, pictures to notes, as well as jot down quick ones.
There's also PhatNotes for smartphone: http://www.phatware.com/phatnotes/index.html
It's $40, but I've heard it's not bad. I use OneNote Mobile, since I get it free with my work copy of Office 2007. OneNote 2007 costs quite a bit (over $100) to buy separately.
If you can wait for a 1 week, I will post a note application I am currently working on. It will synchronise notes from outlook using active sync. And it will be free

No, it syncs with OneNote on the Desktop.
C.
Smartphones do not have Notes built-in and all the 3rd-party solutions (such as SmartpHoneNotes) suck because they cannot sync over the air.
My solutions are:
1) Do notes online. If you have a free Yahoo account, you can use its online Notepad, not bad at all, just it does not support SSL. If you have an ASP web hosting, you can install my XinNotes:
http://www.fixup.net/download/XinNotes.zip
2) Use PocketNotepad. If your phone does not have an Internet, then the best way to do notes is the free and great PocketNotepad from Tillanosoft. You don't need to sync it with your desktop as you can open the notes files directly via ActiveSync with Windows's Notepad. As it does not use a special file format but in plain text, it saves you all the troubles of sync and your dependance to a specific software. Peace of mind from now on.
http://tillanosoft.com/
PocketNotepad is also the best and only text edit tool for you to view/edit any text files on your phone. A must. Make sure you also install the tGetFile.dll which allows you to browse/open/save in all folders (without this dll PocketNotepad can only access My Documents folder which is enough for notes function). No need to mention its full features: copy/paste, search/replace, insert date/time... everything you've dreamed and beyond.
Notes App.
For my S620 I copied HTC Quick notes app. from the S710 and it works very well. It allows you to store notes on the storage card but it does not have the aibility to sync with Outlook.
Playing a bit with my SGH-i600, I noticed that they have an app. called Notepad and the i600 ships with an add-on to sync notes on Outlook called Notepadsync. I copied it on the S620 and installed the software on my computer but Activ Sync does not recognise the app. on the smartphone whereas it would detect it on the SGH.
I guess there must be some registry hacks to do to allow it to sync on the S620.
If someone the binaries I can send them, as I have very few spare time to dig on this.
I'm been using SmartphoneNotes from Syncdata and it works great (syncs wiith Outlook also).
Hi,
I am using NFSFAN's V15 ROM and I also use a gmail java app that accesses my gmail account. Let me first start out by saying that the reason I use the java gmail app is because I cannot find a .cab file installation version of it and I need to preserve email message threading. I know most people use the default mail client but I sometimes get 20 or more responses to one email message and it creates a huge inbox mess, hence this is only one of the main reasons why I use the gmail java app and not the default mail client. Now that thats out of the way, here is my problem:
When I am in the java gmail app and reviewing a message with a website hyperlink in it, if I click on the hyperlink, I immediately get a Yes/No pop up dialog box asking me if its okay to open that website. If you select yes or no the dialog box reappears immediately and the same loop starts ever until I am forced to take the battery out and restart the phone. Can anyone fix this? I wonder if IE Mobile 6 is what is causing the problem, it works fine on my stock ROM that has the older version of IE Mobile but it will not work on the WM6.5 ROM that uses IE Mobile 6. I really want to point it to use Opera Mobile instead of IE Mobile 6 but it does not give me that option. Yes, I have Opera Mobile set as my default browser and yes the "Set Opera as default browser" option within Opera Mobile is checked on but this java program just will not open Opera and I am very puzzled by this problem. I cannot find anyone talking about this issue on any other threads for the Vogue, here at XDA, so I decided to create this thread. Does anyone know how to fix this?
PS - Here is a download link to the java gmail app if anyone wants to take a crack at this:
http://gmail.com/app/v2.0.6/L1/gmail-g.jar
Thanks

Reading this a bit late for research but here's the good news.
Microsoft has announced that the new mobile office and outlook exchange shall incorporate threaded email.
I had a link to it to download the new outlook mobile, I'll search for it again and post if I find it.
I used to have a Java version of gmail that worked with touch screen and let me view labels aswell but I can seem to find it anymore. Please offer me some assistance.
I ran a search but most of the version they list can not be downloaded anymore. ( http://gmail.com/app/v1.5.0/L1/gmail-g.jar )
Thanks for any assistance chaps.
Found this one!! = http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614707
why you Lookimg for java app?
you can check your e-mails in default WM messaging. just setup your Gmail Then you can check your e-mail at any time
if u want there is many WM app's for checking email but java is so unstable in WM
Well, the java app is easier to use & allows you to access all your labels...
I use the offical Gmail app 2.0.6. You could either download it directly from Google, but the you need to change your browser's user agent, try several times or just use the version from here (in the package as gmail.jad) http://rslog.rs.funpic.de/doku.php?id=windows_mobile#programs
I found the same version on my pc which I already had but lost i posted it here

2,Program will show your phone's IP (like ftp//192.168.1.5)
3,You can use windows explorer, or any ftp client to upload and download files to your mobile phone.
copy files with Wife, it can easily reach the top SD card writing speed.this program also can be a gate to achieve remote->PPC, and PPC->PPC file management, or Internet File sharing, blah blah blah
It was in Chinese and I just translate it. Enjoy!
This is cool.

I recently got pulled up for recommending one of my apps, WifeNoStandby.
actually this FTP server is great. It handles multiple ips no problem.
I am including support for this in my StatusTicker app's menu.
I wonder if there is a link for the original developer?
That would be cool.
Thanks!
Nice, I have been getting pretty sick of having to plug into my computer just to upload a new file here and there. Unfortunately I don't have bluetooth on my computer and don't feel like buying an adapter that could easily break off. This worked perfectly!
Great share, thanks mate!

I don't want to spoil anything, however I'm trying to understand where the advantages of your application are, when compared against other similar solutions?
eg. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sand.airdroid
The only difference I can notice is the fact that you can share between two android devices, but hell for that we already do have bluetooth?
