I've seen in the Benchmarking that the last stock ROM has further better audio results. Why there is such a difference with the cooked ROM? Is it possible to get a cooked rom with the same good sound results.
Further more for little devices like Sony Ericsson W810i geeks manage to enhance the sound by modifying the audio drivers. Could some one do that. I wish I could and give to diamond owners good audio drivers by editing Wavedev.dll (I think it is the audio driver to modify) but I'm not developer
Exemple of SE Audio drivers
Tom_Codon, Bepe,Dutty,...
The gap of sound performance is so big between the stock ROM and cooked !
Cookers what do you do which make the sound performance down like that?
If I'm not mistaken, Toshara makes apf (audio/acoustic preset files) - (and vkp patches) files for SonyEricsson.
Pardon me if I'm wrong, but Toshara doesn't play on the HTC playground, nor on any WM for that matter.
What did you attach his acoustics here for?
I just attached because perhaps it could have helped to understand how to enhanced how wavedev.dll. But I can understand that it is different platforms and SE must be simple compared to how WM6
That's the least we can say.
apf files are by no means drivers and they have nothing to do with drivers per-se.

A man walks into a hamburger restaurant where he has bought a permanent seat (the universal). He sits down, picks up the menu and looks at the long selection of hamburgers(AKU 3.X ROMS) to order from. The waiter comes over and asks what he would like. The man looking around, looks through the swinging doors into the kitchen(Microsoft and HTC) and see the chefs cooking steaks(WM6). The man looks at the waiter and says “I’ll have a steak.”
The waiter replies “I am sorry sir, but this is a hamburger restaurant.”
“Then why are they making steaks?” he asks, pointing to the chefs in the kitchen.
“Ah, they are preparing for a new steak restaurant that we will be opening next door. They are simply trying to get the flavour right.” He says quiet proudly.
The man looks reflective for a moment then says “Alright, I’ll buy a steak. How much do you want for it? You can test the flavour on me.”
“Again, I am sorry sir , but the steaks are for only in-house chefs to try.” The waiter replies.
“Fine. Let me speak to your manager.”
“I am the waiter/manager, sir. And no matter how much you offer, we will not be selling those steaks here. I am sorry.”
The man then gets up and leaves the restaurant, goes around to the side door (XDA-forums) and knocks on it politely and explains to the chef that he would like to try a steak in the hamburger restaurant.
The chef tells the man “ Since you own the seat here in the restaurant, you can bring any food you would like and eat it at your table. I’ll give you a steak and you go back around and eat it inside.”
The man hearing this is overjoyed. “Thank you kind sir. I will give you any feedback on what I think about your steaks.”
The man then takes his steak, heads back into the hamburger restaurant and proceeds to eat it. The man thinks “Why didn’t he just sell me a steak? It would have been so much easier. Tell me a price.”
The manager seeing this knows where the steak came from and is quiet consternated. On one hand his new restaurant is not open and he would like some feedback about his steaks. Hell, he himself eats the steaks in this restaurant. On the other, he cannot sell steaks in this restaurant as most of the seats have been bought, plus few would want to spend the extra money on adding steak to the menu and it would take away business from the other restaurant. So, he lets the man eat his steak for now, knowing that one day soon he might have to lock the side door.
I suggest reading it twice. Once as a business man and again as a consumer.
Great Analysis ! ! !

i think that by far is the best 1st post i have seen!!! Its perfect! i think im gonna cry, lol j/k
This post accurately represents the daily dilemma that a board such as XDA Devs faces when trying to choose between just plainly serving the menu and trying to get their customers the best there is without getting on the wrong foot with companies such as HTC or Microsoft.
What I miss in this story though is the Chef threatening to sue the restaurant manager if he dares to serve steak outside the menu. I would also dare to say that when knocking on the XDA-Devs side door, it would not be the Chef (e.g. Microsoft) answering the door, but the sidekick that does the dishes

That just screams "Can i get an Apple with that iSteak". well sh!t, im probably going to get a letter from apple over that comment.
Guy 1: I'm getting sick of eating the same burger for over a year. I read from the news that there is a new cafe opening soon. It looks like a nice place, cozy & fancy. The apple pie sure looks delicious
Guy 2: Well, you know. This restaurant is also coming up with a new menu soon. It's a steak. I'll tell you what, I just got a sample from the chef. Wanna bite?
Guy 1: Sure!
Guy 2: So What do you think?
Guy 1: Uhmm...my..GOD...delicious. I prefer it well done, anyway, it's much better then the burger. If they tweak it a bit, I'm sold
GREAT !
Just a GREAT Post !
I'm all exhausted from laughing
Cheers

Actually, I was going to say "junior chef", however I do know major devs(none in the PPC market) who, for reasons of their own, give out "in-development software" for testing and feedback. These guys look at it as a free resource and a symbiotic relationship. They get what they want and you get to use the latest and greatest.
I wrote this article to show the legal grey area that the XDA-Forums operates in. It really is a tight rope act. One slip and its a long fall with no net.
You do provide invaluable services to the community as well as much needed feedback on PPC products to the companies that create them. But what do you think will happen when one of these companies' manager types gets the notion that you are hurting profits instead of creating them?
PS I see the waiter/manager as the managers of Microsoft/HTC with the chefs strictly being Devs.
Re: This Place Goes to Dogs Because of Microsoft
Now no more cooking up Roms and OS's and no place to go.
I'm upset to see this.
There has got to be a way to carry on?
What were these guys afraid of? Oh if you want the new OS and it's capabilities you got to go to carrier and get ripped off!
I wonder who complained the most? I bet i-Mate was at the top of the list. HTC?
I want to run the newest OS without purchasing a new unit period and if I can't I will not be purchasing any more from the likes of Cingular, T-Mobile.
You know here in the good old USA you can't even get a decent phone from T-Mobile they are in the Stone Age. Cingular is a little better you can get a stripped down Tytn as the 8525 that of course is locked to their network and they almost always strong arm you into a 2 year contract! What are these guys Dictators?
You know why cant we develop our own like Sony's UX Micro series?
These thing would put these guys out of business. After all I always build my own PC's b uy the operating system. I can build these to suit me.
Well the End is near the Commies are taking over, lets hug a tree and sing some Kumbaiya.

Me too! Tired of buying $650 phones with crummy ROMS and no support. It's absurd!! I left the board for a week and a half and came back today to upgrade to the Dopod ROM with GPS (I have the p3600) - whoops! - it's gone - Screwed!
Everyone can pat microsoft on the back for being so lenient for so long but I've been doing Windows since the first version and have watched them illegally put Netscape, Ecco Pro, Wordperfect (almost), Firefox (soon) and hundreds of other great software companies out of business through bullying and bribing - this makes me not give a flying you know what about respecting their rights. They even bullied the feds - more power there than the Vanderbilts and the Rockerfellers (sp?) ever had!!
I have spent a fortune on their products, and I have done almost everything totally legally (which is why I have spent a fortune). But they are not satisfied with that. They have to run all the experimenters and the innovators out of business, and when theirown products suck, they have to buy the competition out of business. I will buy and use the first good open source OS that comes along for these excellent PDA phones - I am so tired of throwing dollar after dollar on systems that don't work (don't get me started on Active sync, duplicates everywhere, increasingly limited abilities to sync, Outlook and the inability to have one PIM on more than one computer at home without 3rd party software at home, and so on).
It makes a good man want to cry. At least Apple is up front about it. And, altho there is no opportunity for innovation there, at least their products work. Microsoft is in business just to blow everybody else out of the water. Tiring to say the least. Deserving of a consumer revolt at best!
Yes they are within their legal rights. Legal rights these days are like political rights in the past MIGHT MAKES RIGHT. Thank you again, Bill Gates.
We're still cooking up ROMs. In fact I posted one just today. The location has simply changed. FTTB everything's on RapidShare. We no longer host this location however, so the care we took in ensuring that pre-production ROMs not yet sent to Operators were removed is now gone.
What has m$ really done here other than just make a lot of people really mad (the petition has around 6,000 signatures currently)? Oh, I know. They've hurt their sales.
... go figure...
as if MSFT cares much about sales they would only care if their $$$ go to competitors like Apple iPhone for example... then Bill would go bananas but a few billion less in sales that's peanuts for him ))
on another point, rapidshare is not searchable (for obvious reasons)... will then the sharing and testing be done through PM only???
I have been told (smile) that emule has a search function.
Yeah but really, would you install a rom that came from e-mule?
Exactly. Did anyone 'mirrored' the ftp before it was taken down?
I can't believe, BTW, that xdad being scared by M$FT -without any reason, let me add - did not give us some time to mirror it. This is clearly pathetic, I think.
there is a mirror!!,,, search this forum carefully for the word "gurus"

Hey , Can anyone upload Iperov's Pocket Guitar Sources or Similare Application , Links are dead in the main Topic .

Yes my friend. I can help you, but first, let me tell you my tale...
It was a small village that I grew up in, probably much like your own. People laughed and cried, but we all loved the place we came from and that kept us together. Then in my early 20s I was visited by a knight of the realm. He had been given a quest, an almost impossible quest, but it was his duty to see the quest done, or die trying. Over the following months we became friends, that knight and I, and shared many a tale of fortunes, both good and bad. He became a brother to me, and I a brother to him. He trained me in the ways of combat, and I trained him in the ways of life, both of us learning the most vital lessons that the other had to offer.
Then came the day. My Brother had to leave. His quest awaited him, and he longed for the journey in a powerful way.
He gave me a map to show his route, in order that I may one day follow in his footsteps and see the monumentous journey through which he had struggled. The journey would be easy for me as he would have slain the many beasts along the way, and I would merely be an observer to the aftermath. That was the plan, but as we both know, in life, sometimes things do not go to plan.
Only two days after my Brother left our small village did he return. He had been poisoned by dwarves along the way, and he was now close to death. His final breath was a laboured breath, but it carried the words "it is your quest now, my Brother".
I knelt in the muddy street, my Brother's head in my lap, whilst I cried out into the raining sky "WHY GOD? WHY?", but God did not answer. He did not need to. I already knew what must be done.
And so, after an almost impossible effort, and losing many, many dear friends and loved ones along the way, I managed to struggle my way across the mountainous terrain, fighting off many vicious animals, not to mention the murderous mutated demons and creatures of The Pit. I faced The Mighty Baal himself and we fought... oh how we fought. At times I felt like I'd been fighting this monstrous demon forever, blow after blow ripping my life from me an ounce at a time, until I finally landed the fatal blow that freed us all from the uncertainty that had been raised by the quest.
This was truly an historic adventure that would be talked about, in a hushed voice, but a hushed voice filled with awe, for many generations to come.
I did it all for you my friend. This was an epic struggle, but I finally found your answer...

I'm seventeen and I own a TP2.
i see people with TP2/tilt2's all the time.
A girl i know used to have one but she switched to BlackBerry because it was too slow/buggy for her. She was running stock rom and i didn't have time to flash it for her.
I saw a girl with Sprint Touch Pro2 while I was waiting to be seated at a steakhouse. Her phone had the stock UI, and much to my surprise it looked quite speedy compared to my tricked out Tilt2 with 2.5 manila ....
Should not have that attitude, I feel happy that young people have Rhodium´s
That means this great device is not only for buisness people
I'm 16 and I have a Rhodium (but I'm a male...)!
I haven't seen anyone else here in the SF Bay Area with a TP2. I keep seeing stupid little Sidekicks (some girls are now switching to the G1; one of my friends says she doesn't want the MyTouch3G because there's no keyboard)...and iPhones.

I'm not sure that they really for business people. My misses dad lives in the Middle East and is regional president for a large multi national engineering company and they won't support the TP2. Blackberry's the one.
However, saying that my misses has a horse and at the yard where she keeps it all the 12yr old girls have blackberries. She asked one why and the reply came "I just like them, I've always liked them".
Maybe her school's got an Exchange Server lol

Haha. Same here. I was going out, and was like aight time to show chicks the master phone Touch Pro 2...
"hey I have that one also"
...damnit!
I didn't mean to focus solely on the age thing. But you youngins are probably tweaking the **** out of your phones. I don't want a 16 year old girl getting my phone and just using it to text her ditzy friends with one of the best WinMo phones ever (so far). She should have an iPhone with stick-on bling.
I like that the TP2 is an adult phone!!!

Oh, okay. I understand what you're talking about.
I know how you feel...I see (though rarely) people at school with 'old' WM phones like the HTC Raphael and I saw someone with an Omnia. I also see a lot of Android phones now...It does seem like a waste seeing these people getting $500 phones solely to look cool with a touch screen phone and texting people.
I even have a friend, who used to own a T-Mo Dash3G, and he never even knew he could edit Word Docs on his phone! He now has an iPhone 3Gs!
Well, we just have to tolerate it...at least we know our phones are appealing to many people. Besides, it's their money!

Do I know I can edit a Word doc? Sure. Would I ever? Not a chance
But it sounds like your friend found a phone fitting him.
I dont know what defines as an adult phone. I have a Touch Pro, Touch Pro 2 and iPhone 3G, i feel as much of an adult with any of these phones.
I know alot of young people like to show off their new phones to friends and stuff, however I believe adults somewhat do the same as well. If you dont care about the aesthetics of a phone (HD2, TP2, iPhone, Moto Droid are good looking phones)), then you'd just get a blackberry strictly for business use.
haha that's kind of funny, I have a hard time thinking about someone getting this just to use everything stock. I'm only 15 and the main reason i got this was because of all the things i could do to tweak it and make it a lot more cool. Don't feel too bad about young people owning this phone, I wouldn't if I were you. Nowadays a lot younger crowd is able to grip to these smartphones, nothing wrong with that.
lol Adult phone. What is an adult anyway ? I once read that to truly be an adult both your parents have to be dead.
Anyway, what's the difference between some 15yr old with a TP2 and most owners of desktop PCs? Neither uses the machine to anywhere near it's full potential. I mean do you really need that monster quad core for writing emails and .docs ? Me thinks not !
It's not about what people need, it's about what they want. And that's where marketing comes into play
LOL.... Totally know what you mean.
It must have blown your mind to see another TP2 owner, let alone a 16 year old girl with it.
Not exactly the demographic HTC was targetting, but it's cool that 'regular' people are starting to take notice of HTC's PRO series products.
hmpf. Only 2 people out of like hundreds have recognised my phone. Most people are like "is that an iPhone"... I have never been so insulted.
I too feel a certain level of insult when someone mistakes my TP2 for an iPhone. I'm always like, "No man this isnt a toy it's the tilt2 aka TP2 aka current god of cell phones!" You hand it to them and laugh as they stumble through the menus never truly appreciating the TP2 for its worth only to hand it back and say, "Oh it's nice but I like iphones." Makes me want to give them the heavy hand of justice every time

You get a phone that is a standard but you also watch what others do with the standard.
BTW you don't need good headphones that last or that can compete.
I enjoy, CM9 and all roms but I don't get why everyone says it's "awesome" or "amazing" when you wont notice the actual difference until after using it for a day or two? Which normally people post it and want it the second it's released.
"I want new features (Galaxy S III "hand gestures")
It's all the same and depends on the setup. The kernel, rom , hardware ect... not trying to be a **** but those words attract "Myself". i'm a fool but i only get to decide for myself and normally it takes a day or two to realize my personal preferences. And figure out who is "amazing" when stock is the same.

This rom is awesome reminds me of why i flashed three or four "different" rom's to my phone to come across a "amazing one". actually i've flashed so many roms to many "different" phones to find this out.... which is why i'm writing this.. sense before i joined these words made me realize i need to ask this question.
Why use the words amazing or sweet. or awesome? is it some low level marketing trying to catch users? cuz they are like blam flashed this its sweet amazing fast. If you don't understand fragmentation then you don't understand android...
remember this taboo that came out which was "supposed to be" a Microsoft stompper.. "Linux" haha guess who could turn that **** into the same type of product. Love you big fish "google"! I heart you.
Gosh there is one person who owns 400 devices just so they could make the "app" compatible. This idea took 20 years for Microsoft to master with its ****ing drivers and ppop wtf.

All i'm saying is ide like a little less marketing and a little more truth. I'm sure I wont get that off this fake ass linux fragmentation hello billionaire Microsoft wanna bee.
Make this a ****ing Linux distro, at least they are focused,

What is your point? Your OP is so fragmented and wonders off on too many tangents, I primarily can't be bothered to reread and try to make sense of it.
You're whining about Android fragmentation and saying you'd rather have an Ubuntu distro bundled with phones?
*Edit* I mean Linux distro.
Ubuntu...
Noo Noo, I'm mostly talking about how my phone is standard, i dreamed i would do something with my nexus seeing as how it was from google. I soon get the phone and find all it is, is standard. You get the phone, lovely but after you get it all you do is watch other phones come out. Using less hardware to do better things.
I'm saying this as a repetitive google customer, and I rely on ports and other roms. I am trying to learn i know its a pathetic thing but i just wish others see what i see. If they don't i would hope my point i great and they would tell me how to help.
The google phones should dominate not be standard and I want to know how to not only root but make full use of a linux kernel space on any android not just how it is.
End Rant
Thanks
