Placeholder for the [mu] kitchen.
DOs and DON'Ts:
DON'T:
1: DON'T ask about vista support. I'm seriously allergic to that expression. Use WinXP SP2/3 and be happy.
2: If it doesn't suit your needs, don't b**** about it and just use another one.
DOs: if you like it, say thanks.
CONSTRUCTIVE criticism/suggestions: more than welcome via PM.

1: .net framework 2.0 at least needed.
2: ms vb runtimes recommended.
3: BEST uncompress with 7zip (or any app supporting lzma) / WinRAR/WinZIP to c:\
4; there is no "readme", so place your RUU_signed.nbh (and Part*.raw) into the "source" folder in the kitchen,.
5: although I tried coding it as noob-proof as possible, the kitchen DOES require some minimal knowledge about the cooking/rebuilding process.
I DON'T intend to spoon-feed you, so if you want additional features, you need to seriously catch up on some reading.
This kitchen DOES need further/extended testing, but I decided to release it after several successful tests on 2 different systems.
Nethertheless, I CAN'T possibly account for the heterogeny of every system in the wild...
I could TRY coding the "perfect" kitchen, but that would be utterly pointless, since experienced chefs use their own kitchen/or don't use frontends.
6: last but not least: even though a cooking process might've been completed, give a few seconds till you move to the next step. HDD/IO bottlenecks tend to do strange things.

Pre-applaud and Pre-thanking
Thank you...................................
Thanks Cyphol.
I will of course give credit where credit is due.
What's taking me so long is that I'm trying to make the batch as easy to read as possible, all the while trying to give as much control as possible over the entire cooking process.
It should RATHER be "noob-proof".
I don't think I will finish it today, because I only have a windows box at work to test it on.
@ home I'm all unix.

(pre)Thanks for sharing a probably great and useful tool !
I think it will be a great kitchen because adwinp is a very hardworking man and he reads and searches a lot.
Thanks Cyphol.
I'm honoured. Though I learned a lot from you guys.
I'm nearly done with the batch file. I'll finish and test it tomorrow.
I tried giving the end user as much control as possible, even though using just one batch.
We'll see if it works.

The [mu] ROM is coming next.
(It might take some time for me to release a ROM worth sharing with the community. I may want to wait for the next official ROM update since I'm not really satisfied with the 1.93 base).
PLEASE DON'T ask when it might be available.
^.^
Although I respect bepe's and dutty's (DP) great work, I stick with Wally regarding protecting the ROM against disasm/copying.
Meaning: No copying protections. Feel free to do with it as you please.
I won't say thanks for this kind of Kitchen. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE???
I only want to say MARVELOUS! NICE AND CLEAN! CONGRATULATIONS.
Thanks Cyphol!
The real thanks goes to the authors of the various tools this kitchen serves as a frontend to.
I doubt this is bug-free, but I hope it will be a contribution of some sort to the community I have learned so much from.
Maybe somebody will do a much better job than I did.

Re-download and make sure your browser doesn't screw with the file extension, it's .tbz2 (tar+bzip2) otherwise your unpacker might have issues reading it.
The Archive is fine, and adwinp: the kitchen looks extremely sexy. I'm completely new to cooking and just trying it because I want a proper JVM, but I've looked at the other kitchens, and this one is the nicest so far.
If your ROM is as hot as the kitchen, I might have found myself a new base rom

Use 7zip for any of the archive versions.
It's a fast and free archive manager, supporting lzma.
You can still uncompress the .tbz2 archive with 7zip/winrar/winzip.
Hi adwinp,
Great tool !
Thank you very much for sharing this tool !!!
I've tried it to rebuild a .nbh with some dump files associated with a RUU_signed.nbh from a stock HTC ROM.
After the first steps, all is OK (my casserole seems to smell good ) until the Build step...
I got an abort 'BuildOS.exe ....'
any idea ?
Could you post a screenshot?
Gimme a link to the stock ROM (or tell me what version it is) and I'll check it out.
OS conflict ?
Hi adwinp,
And thanks for your reply.
So, here is what I've done :
1. Copy my 4 Part0*.raw files in y=the \source folder
2. Copy the stock RUU_signed.nbh in the same folder
Notes :
> Dump files are the parts of a french ROM from Bouygues provider avalaible here : http://dl.free.fr/rkxdkK3bp
> RUU_signed.nbh file becomes from an official HTC ROM 1.37.406.1 avalaible here : http://www.4shared.com/file/5430812...io_Signed_Diamond_5226a2509_1002503_Ship.html
3. Launch mu.bat
4. select "a" to Accept
5. select "r" to Rebuilt
6. select "d" to leave it Dirty
7. select "z" to extract OS from base (OK, new folder 'casserole' with the OS.nb file)
8. select "g" to extract system files (OK, new folder 'imgfs_e' in the casserole)
9. select "y" to extract core files (OK, new folder 'xip_e' in the casserole)
10. select "p" to concatenate system (it seems good)
11. select "o" to rebuild the base...
And then, the error message :

}
After that, I've tried to use the other method with Diamond Kitchen, and I got exactly the same error when building the OS...
plus another message :
Even if I don't really know how the BuildOS step proceeded, it seems there is an OS incompatibility or conflict, right ?
I'll try to rebuild your ROM later.
A quick question though: do you have NET Framework >= 2.0 installed?

Hi Folks,
when I ('m trying to) cook ROMs for Asus P525 its quite annoying flashing again and again on the slightest change (debugging). Especially the translating thing is veeery time consuming.
So, I created a little ROM kitchen for the Microsoft Windows Mobile Emulator. So far, its beta state and only testet with WM6.1 images. BUT, it works.

Known Bugs
Unable to install any CABs (with some SYSs it seem to work, see post #10). I'm working on that one .
How to
Place PPC_USA_GSM_VR.BIN as template in BaseROM
Run UnpackEmuRom.cmd
Modify SYS and OEM as you like
Run RepackEmuRom.cmd
Start Device Emulator using the created NewRom.bin by running RunEmulator.
07/28/2008
Fixed: This image-replacing works.
Fixed: CPU load is normal.
Fixed: OEM folders are replaced in OEM (not in SYS).
Added: The Device Emulator program itself (you can test your ROM using the new batch 3_RunEmulator.bat)
07/25/2008
Fixed: Cleaning cleaned to much.
Download
samWMEmuKitchen_0.2b.rar
OMGsh...If this works...
Bugfix: Cleaning cleaned too much
Ok, I applied a little bugfix on the cleanup cmd. Using this cleaned the (necessary) binaries for the rebuild, too (which means you had to restart the whole process - UnpackEmuRom.cmd ... - again).
With the bugfix (download above) only the repack files are cleaned (except the created ROM ). So you can run Repack-cmd and use the cleaning cmd several times.
Update
New update: 0.2beta.
Fixed: This image-replacing works now.
Fixed: CPU load is normal now.
Fixed: OEM folders are replaced in OEM now (not in SYS).
Added: The Device Emulator program itself (you can test your ROM using the new batch 3_RunEmulator.bat)
This whole thing seems to work now. I created a new Emu ROM doing the following:
Placed PPC_USA_GSM_VR.BIN as template in BaseROM
Ran UnpackEmuRom.cmd
Replaced some stuff (taken from my Asus P525 cooking)
Replaced the whole SYS folder by another one (Build 5.2.20270 AKU 1.3.1)
Added some SYS stuff (Games, Office, OneNote, RemoteDesktop, .NET 3.5)
Added some OEM stuff (new Games, Calculator from HTC, JAVA)
Ran RepackEmuRom.cmd
Started Device Emulator using the created NewRom.bin by running 3_RunEmulator.bat.
Everyone familiar with ROM cooking should have no problem reproducing this.
Have fun!
SamuelTee

this ROCKS! THANKS SamuelTee!
I was able to extract and rebuild a WM6 image!
BUT...I am unable to install CABs.
every time I try I get 'Installation of CAB unsuccessful'
it'd be nice to get this to work to test custom UCs
any ideas?
You're right. I noticed that yesterday on my own cooked EmuROM and I'm currently on it. There seems to be a problem with file permissions (since you can't even create a simple file in \Temp).
HURRAY!
I was able to get CABs to install by replacing the SYS folder with the one from my personal kitchen! It's really cool, it boots exactly like my phone (requiring screen calibration and setting time zone and password etc.)
Now I have a problem with adding stuff...there just isn't any space it seems. I can't add anything that makes the combined space used by the SYS and OEM folders any bigger than the space occupied by the original SYS and OEM folders from the original ROM dump.
It'd be awesome to be able to adjust the space to match whatever romsize your device allows during cooking so that ROMs can be tested with this.
I have a Wizard which doesn't have much memory, but, still, I can't add even half the stuff to this emulator ROM than I can add to my kitchen ROM.
I wish I knew more So I could help solve this problem, but I am totally in the dark and at the mercy of your expertise, SamuelTee.
@joemanb: Can you post your SYS for download? So I can make a diff. It makes it easier pinpointing the issue. Thanks.
Your wish is my command..

I will try it tomorrow and I will send you a feedback
Hi.
Where i find: PPC_USA_GSM_VR.BIN?
It's the first step and i cannot find this file...
Thanks.
@moshinho: See first post. Its part of the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Emulator Images package. You need this as a template for your custom ROM.

I download that file and i install it. I know that in that package there is the PPC_USA_GSM_VR.BIN, but i cannot understand how can make it work in the step 1.
Thanks
@moshinho
Ok, lets recap.
When you downloaded the package from post one (samwmemukitchen_0.2b.rar) and extracted it, there were 3 Folders (BaseROM, DeviceEmulator, Tools). The PPC_USA_GSM_VR.BIN provided with the Emulator Image Package from Microsoft should be copied in the first one: BaseROM.
Ok I've tested it today, everything works fine but there are some troubles with some package, when adding a package, like Opera then starting the emulator the screen is black and I can not do anything.

Beta2 had 1388 views!! Thanks for all the testing!
Major thanks to evalu8t0r for helping out with some "Auto Click" source code!!! Please make sure you donate to him here if you can!
Process:
1. Open XIPKitchen.exe
2. Pick your device xip, wait for XIPPort to do it's thing, and then disappear.
3. Pick your new xip, wait for XIPPort to do it's thing, and then disappear.
4. Go thru the checkboxs for files you want to remove or not. If the files are not in the XIPs, then the checkboxs will not even show. So if it shows, it's there.
5. Press build xip, wait for several apps, including XIPPort, to do their thing, and then all disappear.
5a. If you see this message,
then just press the OK button until it goes away.
6. New XIP will be moved to a folder.
7. Temp folder will be the new XIP OUT folder. If you need to do any more tweaking to it.
What this app does: (At the moment)
At the moment, it only works with BIN files. It does not work with OS.NB.PAYLOADS. Yet. Therefore you will manually need to extract the XIP from the payload for use with this program.
Uses XIPPORT to dump two BIN files you choose, and combines them into a third BIN.
At the moment, this app is only a frontend for other apps. This process has already been noted in another thread by sp3dev located here. This app does that process, and more is to come. I give the credit to sp3dev for inspiring me to finish this app. (It was started with the buildxip method, but since that source was lost, and that file isn't compatible with every device, it was converted over to this method.) Even though this app uses other apps, it is planned to slowly start removing the need for these other apps, and do it all by itself with no help at all. But even though these apps are needed, there is basically no work at all on the end-user side except pushing a few buttons.
Gives you the option to remove some of the un-needed files if they are found in the XIP.BINS.
Allow's you to preview the finished MAP.TXT when it's done just for verification purposes that everything went smooth.
How to use: (At the moment)
You can either Drag/Drop a BIN file onto the "Pick Device XIP" button, or click it to bring up a box that defaults to the "DEVICE_BINs" folder in the root folder of the application EXE to allow you to choose one in there or anywhere else on your PC.
You do the same thing with the Donor XIP that has the Microsoft build files you want to be included in the finished XIP.
If certain files are found in either the Device OEM section, or the Donor Microsoft section, and they are in the list of files that are known to be able to be removed from the XIP, then checkbox's will be available to be checked to not include those files in the resulting finished XIP.
A checkbox will also be there to open the MAP.TXT file when its done to show you if the process worked or not.
After checking the wanted/needed checkboxes, then you can press "Build XIP"
This will start the conversion process of the two XIP folders into one new folder.
Once you've done that, the new XIP will be moved to a folder in the application root called "NEW_XIPs". The filename will be a conversion of the Device XIP filename, and the Donor XIP filename. (Ex. Device XIP = Raphael.BIN Donor XIP = 20757.BIN New XIP filename will be Raphael_20757.BIN) With my current setup, I have all my Device XIPs named properly in the DEVICE_BINs folder. And the Donor filenames named with the build version they are (20757.BIN) in the DONOR_BINs folder. Thus making the new Filenames always resulting in a less confusing name.

Jerome! has released a beta rom - see below for details - please help to test
*********************************
I noticed that a P750 Kitchen was released at asusmobile.ru, problem is that it is Russian base.
Using the following steps I was able to compile a rom that worked, abliet one I could not understand
1) grab your preferred kitchen from http://asusmobile.ru/board/viewtopic.php?t=14829 ( I used Manila Version)
2) extract
3) Copy your OEM files to the OEM folder
4) Run Build_ROM.cmd from root
5) When BuildOS comes up select your packages, press play, close when done
6) When prompted to select "B" or "X" to backup or delete dump folder
7) When NB0 Kitchen starts enter password: mrtoto
8) Load ROM and select PegasusP.nb0
9) Fill in and Select ROM version ,ROM date , CPU speed or pagepool size you want and click [Pack Image].
10) Select [XPR Compression] or [LZX Compression] and click [Build NB0]
11) Wait until you see the words "ROM.NB0 complete" in the message box, Exit the nb0 Kitchen and wait until you see its done
12) Open PegasusP.nb0 in a hex editor and change the bytes at offset 00001c5c from 00 10 85 05 to 20 00 00 0a, save.
13) Extract the attached ASUS_P525_NB0_Kitchen ENG.rar, open ASUS_P525_NB0_Kitchen.exe, load your nb0 and choose fix crc.
Flash by copying to root of SD card, hold power up, voice record in, joystick down while pressing reset and the bootloader will initiate a flash.
Next step is to convert to english, I have seen a tut at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=312704 on how to translate, just wondering if there is an easier way that someone here may know of as with my limited knowledge I am likely to have missed something.
I tried dumping a rom from the guys at pdamobiz.com to use as base but packagetool would not work (no RGU?)
So anyway that is where I am at, if anyone wants to help that would be great as I reckon there is a few people out there that could do with an English P750 kitchen - I intend on getting this working at some point although time is limited.
HAt's off to the tool creators and contributors here at xda-devs, pdamobiz.com (feel like releasing a kitchen Undetect?) and asusmobile.ru.
Oh yeah if you decide to do anything I said and break stuff then don't cry to me, I have had a few bad flash's but each has recovered, YMMV.

Also since its VGA will you be porting the P522w software over? (Camera, UrTime, etc.??) Just wondering cause Sorg's original one has replacement problems but they weren't as clean as the original

My plan is to make a 'clean' rom soon. All the basics should be working. When this works I'll focus on porting some applications. Feedback and ideas of which it should contain besides the Camera, Urtime, Multihome, let me know.
Again good work, are you planning on releasing your kitchen when stable?

Yes, I will, when I finished translating the OEM files, they are still Russian now. Just to make clear, it's not my kitchen, I'm modifying the work of Barin, Vivi etc etc.
Time for a bèta release - testers wanted
To digg out all the bugs I've created a beta release. I will need your help in testing and reporting bugs. Please reply in this thread when you find something odd:
Please note this is a beta release. Not intended for every day use, however, I have been running this build for a week now and it's working well for myself. There might be things that I've broken though.
Also, since this is a bèta release, I will not be held responsible for any problems on your device. Flash at own risk.
How to upgrade:
- Place the PegasusP.nb0 file on a non-sdhc storage card (128 megs or more)
- Plug in power
- Press and hold the following keys when softresetting:
Voice record - Joystick down - Slider button up (e.g. power on button)
Wait until device restarts. Do not interrupt!
File contents:

Please report any issues you encounter! Except for:
Known issues:
- When clicking on softkey to open a menu e.g. contactsmenu, the size is bigger than normal.
- Core systems settings as Power, Device info, Brightness still in Russian.
- Some ASUS apps still in Russian like Asus switcher, CPU mode, Asus profiles, Wakeupsource
- Sometimes after first boot "unknown usb driver" message appears. Reflash the rom to resolve.
Nice one - testing now.

Anyone else experienced the same? I've flashed mine more than 50 times and never had this kind of error. There is a lang unlock tool available. Perhaps it has got to do with that?
I've upgraded from an Extreme Ultralite Rom VGA WWE 3.1.0.7. Perhaps you can flash this one too and check if the same error occurs?
The bootloader of my device is exactly the same. This is a radio/bootloader/gps/free ROM update, just the OS.
thanks for the same
it seems great till now
well i just wanted to ask you is there anyway we can have a manila version in vga p750.
just asking .
cause it take a lot of memory installing it with cab.
if it can be done on the Rom itself it will be great.

It's finished! I've got a GUI made that utilizes existing command line tools to allow a user to freely convert CABs to OEM and EXT files!
As you can see, it's a simple GUI. However, it becomes quite powerful once you use it. The user can click and drag CABs into the listbox and they will be automatically added. Select the CABs you want to convert by clicking on them and highlighting them.
There is a library file that is needed in order to run it called COMDLG32.ocx. This is installed when the self-extracting archive is finished. That's what the batch file and library dialog that pops up is all about. Nothing to worry about.
There are no checks to see if the conversions have been successful, so that will still need to be done manually by the user. I hope to figure out a way to tell if they were successful or not eventually.
As for comments, questions, or suggestions, feel free to make them!
(By the way, I couldn't have started this project without Kraize bugging me to make his life easier. So thank Kraize, too.)

Anyone willing to use cab2oem and EXT_PAckages_rebuilder.exe and create a GUI where a user can: select which cabs/packages he wants to convert, allow cab to oem, oem to ext, and cab to ext. It should be able to allow you to pick the input and output directory. It needs to be able to pick multiple cabs from different directories. I suck at graphics, so if someone could make a concept. This would be a great tool for rom cookers. Da_G had directed me to make batch files, but I was having problems with those not working with all cabs so I thought of and idea and hope could make it possible.

+1 for this! I'm sick of having to CAB2NEWKITCHEN all my cabs each time I add a new one.
Any chance the cabs you're running into an issue with are missing the setup.xml Kraize? They're the only cabs I haven't been able to convert to a package.
By the way, great work with the batch files. Cheers.
EDIT: I could probably do a concept design too but I'm leaving work soon so it'll have to wait until later unless someone beats me to the punch.

Yes. Me and Jason were having problems with the ones without setup.xml files lol. But I think that's a fault of Cab2oem, but I'm not totally sure. Maybe someone more intelligent could clue us in.
The worst part was when it said there was no _setup.xml and it STILL said it couldn't convert due to a missing _setup.xml!
Anyways, working on this in VB6 (stfu, i'm a noob)
Should be able to post something up shortly!

Good stuff
Btw guys, I suggest you wait a while (say 5-6mins) before clicking OK in the message box if you have 100+ cab files. There are still some cab files that will not convert because they do not have a _setup.xml file We need to contact the dev of cab2oem and see what we can do about that.

Aye. If you run that cab manually through the converters, it still won't convert. It's a problem with the converters, unfortunately. Well, to be fair, it's probably a problem with the CAB file's _setup.xml, because I'm pretty darn sure that the converter can find it if it's there.
When I get bored tonight, I'll take a look at it and see what's different between the CAB files that work and the CAB files that don't.
Bah! seems like god is playing with me..all my cabs converted...somehow o.o, I had to do a few manually, but they converted.
EDIT: These are the ones that didn't convert via the gui.

Its not working for me but that may be because I'm on windows 7..I'm not sure yet..

EDIT:worked fine, time to optimize the OEM (remove QVGA files, etc)

Here is what you’re going to need:
1.Fonts/Language support: this is the most important part. I took the required files for Arabic support from this site
http://code.google.com/p/arabicandroid/downloads/list
all credit goes to Mr. alsanad for his great code
Persian and Hebrew seem to work fine with the font I'm using right now, but I can read both, so I can't say it's 100% working.
Persian: you may want to play with it a little, maybe add newer fonts later by yourself.
Hebrew: when I search Google I found only fonts for Android 1.5. however if you find the fonts, the process should be the same
anyway, the Arabic font package I am using right now apparently can display Hebrew characters...
2.7-Zip or any program that can create “tar” files
Please note that the fonts you get in most of the cases are made for HTC android devices in mind, not for WM devices. And they require recovery mode and other stuff (I can’t explain a lot because I don’t own Android device). So we’re going to convert the file, and make it suitable for our devices.
Steps:
1.Get the fonts file and extract the content to whatever place you like
In the case of Arabic, you should see two folders:
PHP:
META-INF
System
2.Select the folders, and right click on them, them choose 7-Zip > Add to Archive
3.Make sure you choose archive formate as “tar”
4.Name the file “androidupdate” and save
5.Copy the file to you SD card: put in andboot folder
6.Installing the update: I quote this from “How to replace Windows Mobile with Android”
Place the SD card in your phone and power on your Kaiser. When you see text on your screen hold down the D-pad. D-pad is that button in the center of your up, down, left, right buttons. Keep holding down the D-pad until you see something like this appear on your screen.
Click to collapse
7.Choose install update: you will see then some lines and then word Installing.
8.When finished, choose quite, or soft rest.
9.You’re done
Make sure you choose the right font for your Android. Apparently each version of android requires some modifications.
You might want to add some specific keyboard. I recommend Smart Keyboard... it is super fast, very accurate, and has support for different languages, such as Arabic and Hebrew.
I tried these steps on Kaiser running VaniljEclair RLS7c with the latest kernel.
I know this guide is basically unpacking, renaming, then installing... But it might be a little hard for some people..And I hope it will help them.
Make sure you back up you date or whatever important information you have on your phone and SD card before you start.
I have uploaded the files I used for my device. these fonts are meant for android 2.1
Cheers
Duke that has got to be the best timed guide I've ever seen, just finished making up a hebrew fonts update for shar1r, lol
Excellent guide, this deserves a sticky, since it is a question that has been asked before, and will be again
I usually edit an existing androidupdate.tar using 7zip, but this method is more complete, ( my method is mostly a lazy hack ).
Awesome!! I just posted a question about this - and voila this great tutorial!
Thank you!!

If the guide isn't working for you then you can always try a multi language build. I know both Scoot and I keep our multi language Cyanogen 6.1 based builds updated. You might want to look towards those.
Link in 1st post doesn't seem to be working for me either.
Yet i think you should change the title of the thread, something like:
How to add YOUR language to a build

Avoid return key, learn to use space. For a moment i thought i was reading a poem...
the coder apparently switched from Google code. here is the new website
http://ardoid.com/
I would recommend using generic Froyo libs as they might work. I don't have my TyTN II anymore... all my testings are on HD2.
http://ardoid.com/?p=64
most of the mutlilang builds will have native support for Arabic/Persian fonts, however, they won't look connected.
you migh need to use "libskia.so" and/or "libwebcore.so" only in this case.
Adding language support is trail and error, so give yourself plenty of time before trying this out.
I am using the libs for the Desire HD on my HD2 and they work perfectly fine.
And yeah, you can try a program called Tor www.torproject.org or Hotspot Shield www.hotspotshield.com to change your IP address.
