verizon touch and gps...not working after flash - Touch CDMA Windows Mobile ROM Development

I have read dozens of topics on flashing and gps for the xv6900. I flashed using imcokes unlocker, the new sprint radio/rom and finally omjs rom
now I went into my phone settings (via start - settings - phone location and set location instead of 911 on)
I use gps viewer and open google maps but no gps. should I try returning my location setting to 911 and then open gps viewer? I mean this should work but no go
and yes I have googled and search ppgeeks and xda vogue upgrade. no answer. can I get some help

For the first time, stand outside on a sunny day and be patient, it took me about 3 days to finally get it working solid. Keep the "Location On" setting, I don't think it will work with "911 Only"

okay I did get a satellite (5 really) on google maps 2 days ago outside but nothing since. I will try again but flash and everything was alright it was perfect even just weird. but I find my mogul as well did not pick up a gps signal either. that's weird

I don't use GPS a lot, so no guru on it working, but GPS Viewer, built in the ROM I'm using, picked up various sats for me. I used GPS Viewer first, only to see how well the GPS was in fact working, it seemed to be like a meter on muchsignal it was getting. From what I've seen, if you flashed it wrong, your Vogue wouldn't even turn on, so that shouldn't be the problem. There's really only a few things that come into play when getting it to work so check this:
"Location On", like you already have,
System Settings > External GPS:
"Programs" tab: Port "COM4"
"Hardware" tab: Port "NONE", Baud Rate "4800"
"Access" tab: Check "Manage GPS Automatically"
These settings may come like these as default on your ROM.
I've also seen one reg edit that may help:
HKLM > Software > HTC > SUPL AGPS > GPSMode
Try changing from 2 to 1 or 4, helped some people I believe.

How do you mean by it boots up like Alltell? If you see an image with their logo, it doesn't mean much of anything, it's only an image, you can change it. But it sounds like you ran the RUU (ROM Update Utility) to install the Alltell ROM, which is a key step in upgrading the ROM. But did you unlock it first with ImCokeMan's unlocker, version 2.31 I believe?
Also, press & hold the power and camera buttons, then soft reset, it should but you in a multi-colored screen, the bootloader, what does it say?

[Samsung i780] GPS cannot fix on any satelites

Hi,
I am new here and just bought an i780 in S'pore 4 weeks ago, running on i780DXHD1 (Radio + PDA). I have been trying to use the GPS for weeks using the bundled NavFone but it always could not fix on any satelites. In the signal strength, there is no single bar appear. I tried MapKing, it is the same. When i checked on MapKing GPS data stream, it is always empty. when i checked on the dailpad, the GPS logo is active(not crossed). When i turn off the GPS application, the GPS logo is inactive (crossed). With this, can i assume the GPS hardware is working? But why no data stream? I have tried turning on XTRA, but it is the same. Below is my configuration:
[NavFone]
Software Port GDP1:
Hardware port COM9:
baud 4800
Windows managed: yes/checked
[MapKing(trial)]
Software Port COM8:
Hardware port COM9:
baud 4800
windows managed: yes/checked
Please help.... Thanks!

co6ra,
First off, you need to stand in an open space before you activate your GPS. I uses Agis software too, and based on my experience when you use it the first time, the signal tends to get a little longer than usual. At times, it can even be over 10 minutes before I get a signal.
To assist your time to get the signal, I would advise you to use the Enhanced GPS found in your settings>system. Clicked on the enhanced gps and select Enable in the XTRA Enable. There is no need to select Auto Download (that is, Disable).
This would mean that the device will also use the base stations to assist in finding the location of your device. Of course the downside to it is you will incur GPRS charges.
Try it and see if you can get the signal.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. For the past 4 weeks, i have been trying all sort of methods; standing at my aprtment balcony, in an open field, in a bus, windows seat, etc. all with at least 30 minutes. When i was at home, i stood at the balcony, turn on my wifi, and kept downloading the XTRA. Sometimes, i cannot see any bar at all; sometimes, i saw a lot of bars, with different PRN number, but all empty (strength 0), and kept changing, but still no fix...
help....~~
i have the same problem too until I download a software call GPSgate, there after I am uable to use my gps, I do not have the link , try seaching on the web.

I thought GPSGate is some kind of port sharing program? Both NavFone and MapKing is able to connect to the GPS unit, it just could not fix. Is it possible that the GPS is locked?
Anyhow, will try on GPSGate later. What is the recommended configuration?....
Thanks!
Installed GPSGate, and found that now MapKing is able to connect to the port and receive data. When i check on the GPS stream, it always appear to have the first line with data(some figures deliminated with ","), but follows by a few line with empty data (no figure, but a lot of ","). When i checked GPSGate, the status of the input port is always "GPS data but no position". I have tried just now in an open space, clear night sky, for at 40 mins, it still cannot fix on any satelite....
Help!...is this something to do with hardware?

Since you have not flashed to any custom rom (I hope you did not) why not send your device back to the SSC and lodge a complain that the GPS is not working at all.
If they say nothing is wrong, ask them to demonstrate that the GPS is able to lock in the signals.
I know it is frustrating to have features and yet not working. It can be a case of hardware issue. Let's see how the SSC can help you, since yours is still under warranty.
I wish you would be able to solve your GPS issue. i780 is still a great phone. Let us know how it goes, okay?
ya...i am travelling now and expect the GPS to work....should have not trust it will work out from box. will visit the SSC when i am back to S'pore 3 weeks later....

According to http://gpsinformation.org/dale/nmea.htm, GGA is one of the most important stream to provide location data. From the log, it seems like the GPS is not able to calculate the current location at all? What is wrong with the GPS unit???...
Ya...i have been trying to put the GPS on everytime i am outside, in total, i think i have tested no less than 10 hours, but still no luck....
co6ra,
From the looks of your log file, it seems that your GPS chipset might not be working. Those coordinates that you have should come from the base station of the phone.
I tried it indoor, and it seems that there are satellites showing, but just could not get a fix on it too (But then, I was indoor).
Your log file might be useful, especially when you bring your unit back to SSC for service.
P/S: My settings are as follows:
Enhanced GPS XTRA is enabled but Auto Download is disabled.
When running NavFone, my settings are as follows:
Don't worry about the external GPS settings, just leave it as it is.
I will feedback later when I am on the balcony. Please be patient.

Yes, what you said is true, the GGA data is the coordinates of your device and determine your location.
I have sent the same log to Agis and Samsung via emails. Waiting for their reply. Hopefully they can solve this by next week, so that i can use it when i need it most as i am travelling to Malaysia now.
BTW, do you guys think that this might be a locked GPS? Anybody has any ideas? If so, how to unlock?
Locked? what do you mean? It shouldn't be and it should work right out of the box.
i am not sure also...read few article on locked GPS topic, which they key in a code to unlock/activate the gps unit.
No luck. Samsung Singapore support does not even want to reply to my email....
Just happen that one of my colleagues travelled to my local office. Has switched back to my old BenQ P50 and let my colleague to bring down the unit back to Samsung S'pore. They claim that it might be a software issue and saying that they are going to flash the latest ROM to see if it helps.

I went through this same thing, I now have Tomtom7 running perfectly and getting a fix in seconds.
It is highly important that you have a working Sim card, correct GPRS or EDGE settings and that XTRA is Enabled!
Use GPS Gate stock settings! ie. prior to running GPS Gate goto External GPS and select com2, then run GPS Gate and use the wizard and let it find Com2.
GPRS/EDGE should try to connect automatically if not then switch it on, exit and restart GPS Gate. Be patient on the first fix it can take 5 mins, it should not take this long though.
Wait until GPS Gate shows that dark green icon in app tray and has a valid position, once it does then execute your GPS software and use (Franson Virtual com 1) default comport generated by GPS Gate.
GPRS/EDGE can be turned off after GPS Gate shows that it has your position and this need only be done once. This has worked on Omnia after many many hours of failure and frustration.

No GPS Verizon XV6900 (Vogue)

Oh kay... I really hope I don't get yelled at for not searching or something but I can't find anything and I seriously need help. I have the 3.42.50(I think) radio and OMJ's Custom Verizon Rom and I just can't get a lock. I've tried thousands of tutorials and haven't had any luck. On my current flash I've used this tutorial, and haven't gotten a lock. I don't know what I'm doing wrong... I'm pretty desperate. ANY help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance...
First, to make sure you have the updated radio (which you probably do) go to start/settings/system/Device Information and check there to make sure.
I wish I had had such a detailed set of instructions to follow when I was setting up my US Cellular Vogue. I had to patch together instructions from 3 different sources to make it work. Of course it works, yours doesn't. Are you outside when you are trying to get at least your initial lock. When I first lock on I generally have to be outside, after it is once locked on I can go inside and it will retain a lock.
Check for my Tips thread, basic info on setting it up is there.

and... can u send me a link to those tips TheChampJT? im bad at navigating forums... :-\
Have you ever run the MR1 on your phone? This would block third party apps from accessing your gps. If this is the case, you need to down grade to a none gps rom, the upgrade.

I might have... would a radio version be able to tell u if this is my problem?... my radio is currently 3.42.50... I did notice my radio version changed after the update so i just used cokes rom to flash it back and started using another rom...
If it came with verizon WM 6.1 or you flashed verizon WM 6.1 and let costumizations run, then you found your problem. Maybe if you tell use what you have done with it since you got it, it might be easier to diagnos.

I used this reported "Leaked Official Verizon Rom". IT WORKS!
ftp://ppcgeeks.com/Vogue/Verizon/RUU_Vogue_VZW_WWE_3.14.605.1_Radio_3.37.77_Ship.exe
You run it and allow it to customize and wahla...updated WM6.1 and the GPS works!
Gps has to be configured to use Com 4.
Use HTC Titan Quick GPS to updated satellite empiricals (GPS position data). I get cold fixes in 15 seconds indoors! Download it from: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4914&d=1201747040
You will have to do a "Over the Air" reprogram via *228, I think its option 2.
I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS WITH THE NEW ROM AND EASY AS PIE TO INSTALL!
Darn GPS is pretty dam close. I get 29foot accuracy 98.5% of the time!
ozzzzzzz,
did you change the location setting under phone settings? I forgot to check this and finally figured to look there.
Go to settings / personal / phone-----then hit services and select settings for location. Make sure that 911 is not selected. May be simple issue with that.

KCDale99 Posted this, couple weeks ago, it still works people.!!!!!!!!........
I justreceived a new XV6900 in the mail today when mine suffered a hardwarefailure of some sort. The new phone came with the newest ROM whichincludes the 3.37.78 radio. Of course I turn on the phone, and updatesrun. This disabled the GPS even after loading a custom ROM. the aGPSfix would not work, and gps Viewer couldn't even find one satellite.
Ifigured this was just like an old, 'let the customizations run'problem. So I followed the steps found here with one exception:
<!-- m -->http://wiki.ppchaven.com/index.php?titl ... ERIZON_GPS<!-- m -->
Onstep 4, I ran the RUU_Vogue_VZW_WWE_3.14.605.1_Radio_3.37.78_ShipOfficial ROM from Verizon. I did NOT let customizations run. I thenloaded my custom ROM. This puts me on the official Verizon radio.
After that, the aGPS fix worked like a charm and GPS is working.
Iknow this is a rehash of other issuew, but I wanted to let everyoneknow that the newest phones shipping are disabling GPS all together.
THIS STILL WORKS PEOPLE!!!!!!! been at this for a week now with absolutely no luck until now this guy has it.................. 5-31-09
I used NFSFAN's custom ROM WM6.5v8 for my custom rom.
the only other thing i had to do is when i was done installing ROM's my phone would not authenticate on Verizon network, so instead of calling them i use the online MY Verison to activate my phone to a old Verizon i760 then re-activated my xv6900 online ordered (verizon) a week ago !!! I have tried every fix, etc... until this combo... except i never went to the leaked verizon radio been to the bell, us cellular, alltel, verzon, etc... and back again..... now it works...... with the fix this guy posted......QPST ip info fom the fix page, links all seem to work!
Again********THIS STILL WORKS PEOPLE
XV6900 CAME STOCK ABOUT A WEEK AGO!!!
YOur first link is to reply to another thread, your second link takes me to the wiki main page, so no information on both whatsoever....

I'm with this guy... Except, I'm worse off. I can't even get a lock in GPS Viewer. It finds the satellites, but does not lock.
I did whole unlock 0.40 to Sprint ROM to unlock 2.31 to VZW ROM, then straight to WM6.5V12, then I did the aGPS hack with QPST, and even tried cody's fix in his FAQ thread. I spent all yesterday morning trying to get GPS working, and I've got nothing to show for it. I'm so f'n pissed right now!

Nope. The only time I let customizations run was when I installed WM6.5.
I did the Coke .40, Sprint (no-run), Coke 2.31, Verizon (no-run), NSFANS WM6.5 (run) and then his two verizon cabs and finished with the aGPS hack with QPST. I used the Telus fix, but should I have used a different one?
I was able to get GPS (with locks after a few minutes outside). I don't think I am getting aGPS, though.
Doesn't aGPS help when you are moving or inside? I think that you would get faster locks (especially the first time) if aGPS is working.
BTW, that routine killed my voice line and SMS with a #8899 notification. Verizon networking is still working.
Todd you'll have to call Verizon and have them re-authorize your phone. The same thing happened to me when I tried that fix.

I will. That office is closed until Sunday. While I am waiting I am trying other methods and options.
I am currently on a Coke .40, Verizon ROM 3.14.605.1 Radio 3.37.77 (no-cust), Coke 2.31, Verizon ROM 3.14.605.1 Radio 3.37.77 (w/cust) followed by QuickGPS. This lets me see satellites and gets me fully back on a Verizon radio. (I will still have to call #8899 when their office opens)
Can anyone match up ROM versions with the MR1, MR2 designations? Is 3.37.78 MR1?

first you should run gps veiwer and get a lock before you open google maps.
second go to options/gps settings in google maps and set to managed by windows. that should work

HTC pro2 GPS , help!

Hi guys
I got my first WM phone HTC pro2 recently from Vodafone UK. Everything is good except GPS. I read this forum carefully. I did hard reset, soft reset, set different port and baud, download QuickGPS, I also try some tweaks, buy GPS still not working. when I open Google Maps, clicked the use GPS, after “seeking satellite…” near ten minutes and Google Maps told me I have GPS problem. HTC GPS tool show me GPS signal was 0 and only a red spot on the top of circle. Other GPS programs such as “GPS test” and BeeLineGPS had same result like HTC GPS tool. Open Garmin, always said “searching satellite …” and Tomtom told me “Poor GPS receptions—are you inside the building?”
My questions are, based your guys experience what happened? It is hardware problem or the setting’s problem? When you guys talking about the GPS cannot get fix, do you have GPS signal on the GPS program (like signal strength, some red and green spots on the circle etc)? If I flash hard-SPL and other Radio Rom can resolve my problem? Are there other solutions? Warranty.
I used destinator 7 on a small trip, and was able to work.
However, looking at the settings screen where the signal for each satellite was displayed, I cannot say I am impressed. The signal strength was extremely low...
Can you install destinator and try also yourself?
Apologies if this is very basic, but I assume you are outside with a clear view of the sky when trying it out?

yes , i am in open field, far away from building, several times, more than 40 minutes. thanks I will try it. but I am wondering why signal strength is 0. low strength, hard to fix and no signal strength is totally diferent issue, i guess.
I am proposing the destinator, because it has a function that detects the port & some settings of the gps...
I am on Sprint in the US, but this worked for me. I am not sure if you did this.
If you have TouchFlo enabled go to the Settings Tab, then go to All Settings.
In the all settings, click the Personal then click Phone. In there click GSM/UMTS services (I am assuming you have a GSM phone, I don't know). Select Location Setting and then Get settings. Make sure it is turned on.
Then this part you said you did, but I will tell you my settings anyway. Go back to the all settings. Now go to system and then external gps. Then go to programs and select COM port 9. Under hardware it should be None and the baud rate is 4800. Then under access check the box to have manage gps enabled.
Now, when you use google maps, go to the settings in google maps and click gps settings. Change the option from let windows mobile manage my gps to manual and pick com 9 and 4800.
Then enable the gps and get a clear view of the sky and see if it works. It might take about 20 seconds for it to get some satellites the first time.
Did you notice there is a firmware update to enahnce gps fixes? Might be worth giving it a try
Thanks all.
there is not locaiton at setting, personal, phone , services.
this phone is vodafone branded, i think I need hard-SPL first to flash firmware.

Hi,
I have been experiencing the same problem. Have read many posts. It normally happens when phone your phone displays H or 3G. For some reason the triangulation and the Gps stops working.
Try it when you have E or G showing on the phone it will work like a charm.
This is my second TP2 first one never had a problem and was vodafone branded as well. Will try and find a solution and will let you know. I have tried different radios though!
Hi
I had the same issue with my T mobile branded TP2. Sometimes (after houres) I had a fix and then it dropped again. I discovered that when you switch WIFI off, it all works like charm. WIFI somehow jams the GPS receiver.
Same Issue
I have the Sprint Touch Pro2 and have tried every patch available, several registry edits, different settings and quick GPS settings to get my GPS running properly. Just before my 30 day return/refund period had almost lapsed I decided to exchange my device. Sprint tried to talk me into some drawn out process of dealing with advanced tech support and starting a ticket on the issue which would have gone way beyond my 30 day period to exchange the phone. To make a short story long, exchanging the phone couldn't have been more convenient and upon setting up Quick GPS and trying out the installed Live Search application, my phone found 9 satelites within seconds. I guess it was the device. Just a cautionary tale that if you think you've tried everything to get your GPS working, there's no harm in getting another Touch Pro2.

GPS connection

I have a TP2 which has been good as gold since I bought it about six months ago, but now trying to use GPS for the first time I cannot get a signal. Can anyone please assist?
TomTom 7 and Google Maps; Neither program is complaining that it cannot find GPS, it's just that GPS does not pick up any signal.
Under QuickGPS I've got everything ticked and agreed to! I've also manually updated it three times now.
Under "External GPS" settings I've tried COM4 and COM0 and baud rates 4800 and 9600. I'm now settled with COM4 and baud rate 4800 (with corresponding settings in TomTom) and I can confirm that the GPS device is certainly recognised, because if I change the settings or if I select a different GPS device in TomTom I get "No GPS device!", whereas with correct settings I get "Waiting for a valid GPS signal".
Likewise Google Maps sits for ever showing "Seeking GPS Satelites (0)...".
I've just come back from a day visiting friends in London. For half of the 45-minute journey there I had the phone sitting on the dashboard with TomTom open, and for the second half Google maps, and then the same again for the 45-minute journey home, and not once at any point did I pick up any satellite signal.
Can anyone please offer any suggestions?
Many thanks.
Could possibly be a bad GPS unit in your phone. There is an HTC GPS Tool available on the boards here that you can try and test with. I'll do a search for you in once sec.
One quick thing to double-check, in Settings | System | ABPS Settings > Make sure you've got the AGPS Service turned on.
ETA: Here's the thread where you can download the GPS Tool - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360477
I'd be very grateful, thanks.
ABPS Settings? What's that?! I have no such setting under Settings/System! (I'm running WM 6.5 pro)
GPS is new to me, and while clearly a nice little piece of kit the HTC GPS tool doesn't give any instructions! However, I've set it to my COM and baud rate and hit "Open" and there's a lot of action; under the "Satelite" tab I see changing red satellite points (between one and four and I'm still indoors) so I'm presuming this indicates that my GPS is functioning?
Could my issue therefore be something to do with my non-existant ABPS/AGPS Settings?

"aGPS" = Assisted GPS, it uses more than just the satellite signals to help pinpoint your location quicker. The TP2 is capable of aGPS, but it's disabled by default. You'll need an app such as "Advanced Config" (attached below) to access and activate that setting. Once you have it installed, just open the app, and you'll see a "GPS" heading in the list of options, under that is the aGPS switch.
Much appreciated, thanks. In fact I already have "Advanced Config" installed, and all GPS options already activated, including AGPS.
Could you be so kind as to let me know whether you think, from the description in my last post, that my GPS is working? And if so, might you have any idea why it's therefore not speaking to either TomTom or Google maps?

Without being able to lay eyeballs on it, it does sound like the GPS tool did indicate that you could at least locate some satellites, but I can't say for sure if you're locking/triangulating any...
There is one more setting that I've read has helped on some odd occassions, it's worth a try if nothing else. In the same GPS settings area where you changed the port and baud rate, the last tab should be "Access". On that tab is only one check box, for "Manage GPS Automatically...", and it's probably checked by default for you. Even though it sounds backwards, go ahead and uncheck that box, and see if it makes any difference in your ability to acquire sats. It may not, but it doesn't hurt anything.
Also...just to be sure...on the "hardware" tab there, do you have the "GPS hardware port" set to "none", yes?
Your other option, of course, is to load a different radio.
have you tried running quick gps?
I have also had problems with my GPS since flashing a new ROM, a reset seems to have sorted it out.

I presume you mean a full, cold reset? I've run several standard cleanups and warm resets, and yes, I've also run QuickGPS a number of times as well.
I was beginning to wonder myself whether it was to do with flashing the new ROM, although it was an official ROM (WM 6.5 Pro), Vodafone and Windows certified and downloaded through the Vodafone website, so it should have been thoroughly checked.

Yes, if you loaded a new official ROM, you most likely got a new radio with that ROM (offical ROMs include the radio, many aftermarket ones don't)...in that case Epoh is correct and you'll want to find out what radio was on your device with the previous ROM, and try flashing that same one (or one of the other available options) in place of whatever one the new ROM included.
Again, many thanks.
But I'm afraid you've lost me technically! I'm certainly PC literate and able to tweak and crack and play, but where my TP2 is concerned my knowledge is more limited. I'm afraid I would need instructions to guide me through the process you suggest. If anyone has the patience and kindness to provide some I'd be most grateful, otherwise it's a bit out of my "do it yourself" league.

It will have your radio version there. I'm not sure which ROM you were using before, but you should be able to find what radio it was using. Then go to the ROM development forum and read about flashing your radio!

Flashing a radio is very similar to flashing a (custom) ROM, it just doesn't wipe everything, and it only replaces the radio (actually the set of drivers for all the radios in the phone). Different radios can improve your reception on any of them (3G, Bluetooth, GPS, etc), but you may have to try a couple to find the one that works best for you.
A list of available radios, and links to detailed instructions, are in THIS thread
Many thanks for the help. OK, I think I'm on the case, but here's what's still confusing me: The thread you've sent me to explains how to determine your ROM by going to the start menu, settings, etc. However what I need to know is what the ROM WAS before I updated to my current one, no? If I understand this correctly I am trying to return to the old radio that I had before I updated the ROM, yes? In which case, how do I know which radio to choose?
If it saves time, I can tell you that I am in England, my unit is a Vodafone HTC TP2, purchased in August last year.

Correct, but if it uses the same radio then there is no need to flash a radio and you have a different problem, which is why I suggested checking to see if they use the same radio. If the ROMs use different radios, you can download the radio from your earlier ROM to see if it fixes GPS.

I see! Cheers.
OK, my current ROM is 1.86.161.0 (67102) WWE, and radio 4.49.25.17 (09/25/09).
However ... since I have no idea what my ROM or radio were before I updated the ROM, how am I to know whether the radio is the same!?

On that list Burton linked for you, it shows that the originial shipped ROMs from Vodaphone (which I'm assuming is what was on yours previously) were version 1.14.161.6 (50207), with radio 3.44.25.27.

Serious GPS Problems I NEED HELP (UPDATE 4-12-10)FIXED

Hey guys. I know there are dozens of threads here on XDA about GPS problems. Well, I have sifted through many for weeks now, I have tried and tried tweaks, hacks, whatever and I am having no luck. I used to have my GPS working with bing, google maps, whatever. I installed TomTom and never got it to locate a GPS signal, since then I have not been able to get any GPS working that I can recall.
I am not sure if I have replaced or deleted some file during all these registry hacks and tweaks, so I am at a loss. I just want to get my GPS working. I am no noob, so please no rude remarks. I just need some help. I cannot get this thing licked for the life of me. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I am using an Energy Leo ROM with Sense 2.5 if that helps or matters to anyone.
Please, people, somebody help me get this GPS working again. THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE.
EDIT: I fixed it, if ur curious check out post #7

Since you're "no noob" I assume you've already hard-reset your phone...?? And/or tried the Task 29? And then re-flashed to a stock rom?
If you've done all of those things (surely you have if you've been troubleshooting for weeks) and GPS still doesn't work then it seems like you must have a hardware problem.
Yeah, thanks

Alright, figured I would get some type of remark anyways, but it's cool. I have done a hard reset which I was trying to avoid, but I have not reflashed to a stock ROM and back again. Once again, I was trying to avoid all of that, but if there isn't any other options, it seems like that's what I am going to have to do. It's just since I flashed to the energy ROM, my GPS did work, it just stopped working suddenly. Thought there could be some connection(s) settings that got changed or possibly a file lost or changed.
I am willing to reflash the phone, by all means, but I thought I would check with my fellow hacking badasses to see if anyone could come up with an actual idea instead of telling me to change the phone BACK to it's original out of the box state, but if not whatever, guess I might have to bite the bullet.
If anyone else has any ideas, please let me know. I'm gonna hold tight on reflashing the phone for a few days to see if anyone has any other ideas.
what version of TomTom are you using?
i found with TT7 it will not show how many sats you have. and its a bit of a faf getting it to work, but i do have it working like this
in the gps settings of the phone set theprograme port to com 4and the hardware port to com5 and the baud to 4800
in TT and go to gps settings under preferences
change the GPS device to other GPS set the com to com 5 or 4 (try both)
go outside in a field etc, and wait 10 mins, you will see the latitude etc change, wal around and it will keep changing, but there will be no blue bars to tell you your signal strenght etc

It's easier to help you if you say what you've tried -- a little more detail than you're giving. Like, after you hard-reset did you reflash the Enrgy rom and try the GPS before adding Tom-Tom? If you did a hard reset, returning the phone to the basic Energy rom (without Tom-Tom) and GPS still doesn't work then Tom-Tom isn't the problem. But who knows... good luck.

In my version of TomTom (ttn7.916.9189_qvga_blue) I find my satellites to be working no problem as per the display of locks on the navigation screen. No tinkering required.
As for the GPS issues, I would guess try another radio version. When you flash a stock ROM back on, it usually replaces the radio. In Southern California I find the .77 RADIO to be excellent with GPS.
Just update Quick GPS, try the .77 radio, stand out on the street for like 2 minutes so it can get a quick lock. With .77 GPS works in my house where it never did before.
I too had a helluva time getting this GPS working tits on the Touch Pro 2 when I first got it, now it's awesome!!
Thanks I will try

I have reflashed my ROM more than once since all of this began in order to fix this problem with no avail, but I cannot say that the radio every changed since I was reflashing with an Energy ROM each time, so I will try what your saying about flashing the radio with some different ones. I am not sure what my stock radio was, so I will just have to experiment, but I will get back to you after I give this a try and let you know what happened if anything.
Got it Working Now
So I tried flashing a new radio. I also found another setting, though in the settings panel that I believe fixed this. It is as follows:
Settings\Connections\Advanced Network
When you're in this area, check the GPRS tab at the bottom. It has two options to set your GPRS to, one is PAP the other is CHAP. Mine was set to CHAP, so I changed it to PAP and VOILA!! Went outside, used Quick GPS, used the HTC GPS Tool, and it found satellites. Then I opened up google maps, bing, TomTom, and they all worked perfectly. So, if anyone else is having a similar problem, then give this a whirl. Make sure you check out different radios as well. I have now and my signal is strong inside and outside with my phone calls, internet, and GPS.
Thanks everyone for the help

Must be your local servers. I was using CHAP without GPS problems. The only difference is that CHAP uses secure authentication with the servers. I'm in LA.
BTW, are you using the "Quick GPS" application to download satellite positions? It really speeds up signal acquisition.
