Well peeps i like to take the ROM we have here and pretty much take all the crap out of them that i can. So here you go! here is the dopod test rom that can be found on this forum with a 4MB pagepool and almost everything you dont need taken out of it. below are some screen shots I have tested this rom for a while now and its damn fast and has great battery life plus with 62.00 of program memory you can add lots of your own sh*t and still have room left over on the first boot you will have 31MB free of memory... trust me its a really nice rom i didnt build it but like i said just took stuff out that i never use so enjoy folks...

Alas, your screen shots didn't seem to come through correctly.
Can you quickly describe
what's in / what's out
how much storage ROM / program RAM
what versions of OS (plus any hex editing you may have done)
Thanks in advance!
CE OS 5.2.1236 build 17741.0.2.1
sorry about the screen shoots... errrr
No Ext-rom removed that and the auto run for it.
all ringtones are removed pagepool set to 4MB like i said. All Sim mangers removed plus other apps that no one ever uses
there is 62.86 storage memory and on a freash reboot 32.oo memory free. Sorry i didnt make a list of everything i took out its just pretty much the dopod test rom vannilla
Still has the old office in it maybe later today i'll put 2007 in but there seems to be huge issues with that. for some reason but i'll post a working cab of OneNote for everyone.
Fast is everything to me!
so thanks!
Right now im on Sleuths Lsvw derivative and it smokes.seriously!
to be honest I flashed Dopod roms twice and was really disappointed...very sluggish performance for me.
Looking forward to feedback here!
look its fast flash and see lol..... i noticed that with the apps i run custels and JJ's rom's slow down a bit with this one they stay up to speed plus the storage memory is huge. if you dont like it flash back to what you have now
I agree....its the only way to tell.
Need to start a like, 5pt poll on every rom and rate 1-6 or whatever.
Dutty's and Lsvw's blazed.....I cuncur on JJ's slowed for me......even when buzzin (just love the aesthetics.....use the today page on every Rom)
But was just pointing out that the dopod based Roms were slow(est) for me....which is why I look forward to feedback.
Hi all
--------------------------
EDIT: 2/11/2007
I appear to have found a solution to the 'long time to come back out of standby' issue:
i had a bit of a brianwave when I was learning about pagepools and decided to investigate WHY it was only Schaps' rom that took such a noticeable time to come out of standby whereas other roms such as VP3G's and shamanix's were pretty quick.
Initially i put it down to rubbish handset.lol. but then decided no. that isnt the xda way!
so, i downloaded 4 different ROMs, VP3G's, Shamanix, AustinSync and of course Schaps'. I was determined to get Schaps' working as his rom is most suited to my needs!
so, upon opening each of the roms using the pagepool change tool, i realised Schap's had a 4mb PP whereas others had 6mb
so, i thought, lets see what happens if we change the pagepool, so i did. and it seems to have worked. it still takes a short time to come out (i mean not instantaneous like on the wizard) but a LOT less than the Schaps with 4mb PP.
so, i ask ye fellow users to try changing the pagepool.
the tool i found was on these very forums at the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=323269&highlight=pagepool+change
and there it is!
so please, try it!
-----------------
I've been trying out schaps' various roms and i've realised it seems to take a while for the handset to come out of standby (i use the standby function a LOT) and sometimes you even have to press the power button twice!
is it just me that is experiencing this?
please dont get me wrong, ALL of schaps' roms that i have tried have been near enough perfect asides from this single issue. all the other roms i have tried despite coming out of standy instantaneously, they have other issues. issues which schaps dont have!
i just hope we can solve this slight issue!
w/thanks
duke.
Same here
I have ROM 3.54c from Schaps and I have the same problem... I find it VERY frustrating!!!
I was hoping that this would be fixed in version 4...
Good thread Duke_stix, I hope someone out there has the answer to our problem!
----------
HERMES 100
3.54c from Schaps
I haven't really noticed it yet really but its something that I have experienced on all the roms I try on occasion.
i use 3.60a
and it has a 1second lag before it comes out of standby. havent tried any other rom
Try VP3G's latest.... you would not be disappointed...Schap codes great ROMs, however when they are done and out of bugs.. but till then if you use your phone daily like most people do, then testing is not for you.
im not testing!
if you read my first post, i LOVE schaps' roms! the ONLY issue that i have found is the 'wakeup' bug, otherwise more or less perfect. with other roms, including VP3G's there are other slight problems like some today plugins missing, namely the wireless one, which i know there are alternatives and it can be downloaded and installed but id prefer it in rom from beginning!
there has GOT to be a way to fix this! perhaps a registry setting
schaps, if your reading this, please help!
U may have better luck posting this on the original schaps v4.0 thread!
Not a rom specific thing...
It's a Hermes specific thing.
The Hermes has always had problems coming out of stand by. Every rom I've used has had these lags. And yeah, some times I have to press the power button twice as well.

i would and i have but in the last few hours ive had more responses concerning this issue than i have since posting in that thread a day or two ago!
Help wanted
This is a very important topic...
Because of this issue, my 8525 seems slower than the old 8125... Kind of annoying for a processor twice as fast...
Please... Anyone... Any clue????
This lag varies depending on what you have installed and whats running. When i boot my device in safe mode using spb pocket + the lag is basicly gone. So just free up some ram and put only the apps that need to be on device memory on the device memory, other non crucial apps should be put on starage device.
Not a memory issue

I highly doubt that it is a memory issue since this happens on cold boots as well.
Moreover my Hermes currently has 22.8Mb free for storage and 19.7Mb for Program... Isn't this plenty?
ATI ImageON
Actually, isn't it what the ATI ImageON driver is supposed to fix?
Relating to all of this,, I wonder if the new Tytn 11 (Kaiser)with all its memory , experiences that same power/standby problem ? If the answer is yes, then either the problem (whatever it was) was solved, and we must learn what they have done differently in hardware or system. If they haven't fixed or improved immensely in the Kaiser, then someone out there (HTC) never have seen it as a major problem.. I personally have almost always had a lag, either on cooked or official.
on Hermes but not on Wizard
Actually, this problem is inherent to the Hermes - The wizard (slower processor and older model) is much faster to come out of stand-by. Someone at HTC must have messed up pretty bad - or ATI bribbed them nicely.
Hi,
I'm using the 3.60 full at the moment and didn't experience that, even I do use that version for a week and never recall have that issue as well, may be is physical unit related since some of you also discover the same symptoms.
Just sharing hope you don't mine.
Cheers,
Naru

Yes thats is true its not a rom specific thing. I use the dopod original rom and still it takes that long and some times i do need to press it twice before getting it awake...
Minimo guilty?
I tried the 6Mb pagepool trick on Schap's 4 ROM and the delay seemed to have shortened. However, after installing and uninstalling Minimo, I noticed a significant slow down of mt TyTn... It seems that the delay is back...
Am I the only one in this case?
for hermes ^_^ ,
what is the best rom today? with touchflo...
K's Rom was suggested to me and the touchflo seems to work great. Just FYI u have to install it after u flash the rom.
There any bugs with ks? i use schaps 3.57 right now ... , just 25mb program ram :\ , is ks rom much better?
+what is radio rom? :\
I just switched from schaps to K's, and K's is much faster and more responsive for me.
My understanding of the radio is that it's the software or whatever that makes the actual cell phone part of your device works...it controls how good of a signal you get and how much of your battery it drains. I just upgraded mine to the newest version today...I havn't noticed any different, but then again I wouldn't have as it's only been 15 minutes. I think the radio is usually independant of the ROM you have, however some ROMs will come with a radio too (I think mostly the "official" release ROMS). I could be wrong on all of that, I really don't know much about this

You need to go to K's thread and read the posts for all the performance comments & questions...
Perhaps anybody wanting to finally get an idea of how GOOD a ROM is should show thier interest at this thread would be worth it??
i know this done before, but lets make a new vote
first the best rom (stable, power drain, applications compatibility)
1-PDAVIET ARTEMIS & LOVE WM6.1
2- artemis touch 4.02
3-artemis touch vanilla 4.02
4- opps black
5-black and blue
6- YuE_v9.1_3.15.20721_ExtraClean
second what do you prefer the cube or not
third and what about the 2d manila
for me, i'm not that experience but i think the PDAVIET ARTEMIS & LOVE WM6.1 BUILD 20275.1.3.3 NNH is soo good, but i had an error with incoming calls so i'll try the older build
black and blue is good but i had a problem when i installed it with sycronizing with the computer.
i used artemis touch 4.02 lite with cube, but after 2 days even i almost did not installed any program and using it with just internet applications and normal stuff the power drain is high and the free ram was 5 MB
and i don't see a good use of the cube.
and 2d manila is still slow and i had to do a hardrest after installing it cuz it slowed my orbit even after uninstalling it.
lets see your opinions
...yeah its a worn out topic...but nevertheless...
for me its YuE_v9.1_3.15.20721_ExtraClean
pros:
- fast as hell
- so clean , u can customize it as hell
- 67,12mb storage
- 47,98mb program
- stable, no power drain, highly applications compatible

cons:
-needs a little help to go fully wwe!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=422911
- drag and mark to copy /cut not working, needs "menu/edit/select all"
battery drain is mostly a question purely related to the radio version, afaik only the orig artemis 02.98.90 and the 03.21.90 are ok
no cube, no manila (atm, until it goes light) just htcplus-customized

Yeah none of the above 5 are the fastest, YuE 4.4 Clean & Yue Extraclean are the best!
Put them in your voting system too, this guy deserves credit! Only an English keyboard

I absolutely agree with that, cuz YuE 9.1 aint better than 4.4.
I never liked Cubed ROM, cuz thery were very slow and stuffy.
Manilla was merely a killer to any ROM I tried with.
This YuE man deserves a huge credit.
well for me i did not try the YuE_v9.1_3.15.20721_ExtraClean
cuz it looks creepy a little with making it WWE
but now i'm using the PDAVIET ARTEMIS & LOVE WM6.1 BUILD 20273.1.3.3 NNH, and it's really works like charm till now (few days)
and free program memory is about 23 Mb now.
but it looks like there is a problem with GPS softwares (look at the thread) cuz these days i don't use GPS
but all other stuff are great and it includes the most programs you need
but i think i'm gonna use the YuE extra clean cuz i'm curios

just in case you want to try the extraclean version and wonder howto:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2643024&postcount=41
artemis touch 4.02
artemis touch 4.02
The best rom ever for artemis
Vest rom ?
Artemis Touch was ok for a while but now i am using YUE light ROM
and it is very fast and stable. Wanna try the Ulyra Light too.
DON'T LET ANYBODY TELL YOU OTHERWISE. YUE's ARE THE BEST !
You'll know it when you try it, and they didn't.
Tried just about all the cooked ROMS and the very best as now is the YuE's. Only thing with me is the V9 & V10 don't drag and paste all the text as they should, but as i was reading Yingmu yesterday he's trying to fix this.
Cheers
Well now there's Yue V11 too. It comes in three flavors.
Light, Extraclean, and M2D.
Personally i think Yue V10 ultraclean is a bit faster then V11.
i'm using now YuE V11 With 2D manila page pool 4m...
working like a charm..
Hi, sorry i have the problem with the item of battery up near the sound of call. I change the option in Advanced Config and i don't have the time but nothing..
and i have another problem with the sound, the my phone not ring.. only vibration
I tested this rom:
Build 21728 Lite V21 Tiger
21234/Build 21243 Lite V19 Secret
21232_Manila_V16_ITA
23009_ULite_V24_Update
kaiser_ita_shifu_04
kaiser_ita_shifu_04_light
21905_Lite_ITA
Not any ROM resolves the problem
Kaiser?
goto kaiser and ask again dude this is a hermes forum not kaiser... but the problem about the sound is xtrange... maybe your speaker is disconected by a drop... or you have some trash in the ext usb mini conector blow inside hard maybe it can helps... if not... you will have a hardware problem the batt icon can shows you time or battery some builds can shows only time some others just battery dont know why.
Thank you + Que PPC's, the my phone is spv m3100
the spv m3100 is the hermes but you said you've flashed a kaiser rom.
