I was wondering why the regs in a rom keep changing back to original settings
I use regedit to change things, but everytime i change the push mail to 1
after a couple hours it back at 0. so push mail is off again.
I thought that maybe theres a reg that keeps restoring the settings.
But with other settings it doesnt change back, like the wake up at sms.
Because i found a reg in HKEY/local_machine/RegPersisted and its set to 1
i dont know for sure if this has something to do with it, but i think that this whats keep turning back the reg settings.
I also found the same regkey in HKEY/current_user
Could someone explain this to me??before i turn it to 0 and mess things up
Thanks in advance
Are you by any chance using the keypad lock feature by long pressing the "end call" button? It seems to set some settings back to default. I'm not sure if this is the case, but you could try not using the keylock and see if the settings keep their user set value.

What's the problem? If you mess things up, just do a hard reset...
Give it a try, and let us know about the results

regedit
i changed the regkey for the persisted reg to 0 but no effect. after couple of hours when i check its back to 1.
same for the push mail, its back at 0.
How the f*#k can i keep the settings i make.
i find it so strange that that reghack for the sms wakeup event is good , but every otherthing i change keeps going back to standard

Hi,
I'm trying to change my "Silent" profile to be completely silent. Turning off all ringers / changing to vibrate works except for the call initiation sound (the beep you hear when dialing a contact). How can I turn this off? Thanks in advance!
Specs: Flashed Dash to Excalibur / WM5
The 'beep' file is windows/callstart.wav if you would like to get rid of it. But I've never really cared to do anything about it.
*edit* won't let me delete it. probably need to replace it with a wilent second or so
*edit again* yep, you can replace it. if you did the silent startup/shutdown edit than just copy T-Mobile start up and rename it to Callstart
you can also use a registry editor to change this. look throught the other threads concerning that topic for more information.

where is this file located and how do i edit it to rid my self of the annoying. i rather not toy with the registry.

then use a program like total commander to replace it with a silent 'track' like the one used in silent startup/shutdown
Make this change to your registry:
Shut Off the Beep that Occurs When You Initiate a Call
Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\InCall2
Change String/Value InitVol to 0
possible error

This is incorrect, at least on my phone (WM6).
Here's what I had to do to mine:
Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\CallStart
Change String/Value InitVol to 0
i noticed, that my windows applications are silent with the silent profile. but some applications do sounds anyway.
can i avoid that?
need default sound for in call2
Can someone telll me how to get the default sound back for incall2? I deleted it when I was trying to get rid of the sound made when a call is initiated using the incorrect instructions previously posted. The one below works for me but I still need the other sound back. I believe it is related to the busy signal.

Thanks for that, I hate that beep and the setting for WM5 didn't work.
DELETE. Wrong spot. Thanks!
Hey everyone, sorry to dig this up, but I tried this registry edit shown above, and every time I turn my phone off, and back on, it comes back. Any way to permanently get this registry edit to stick? Thanks a ton! HATE THE BEEP! I have WM6... Thanks!

i don't know about wm6 but wm6.1 usually you can go to start/setting/sounds/ and scroll around to what sounds you don't want and turn them off.
also use the search forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480671 i came up with this and there's two or three posts about this. same kind of questions just three different posts.
I'm referring to the call initiation beep. It's a registry deal. Not a keypad thing. I dont care about numbers beeping, but every time you call someone, it beeps, regardless of what the volume or profile is set to. Please read the previous posts in this thread to understand a bit better.
Then change it....
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\CallStart
Change Value InitVol to 0
Right, Like I said, I've done that. It's the fact that when I have to soft reset my phone, IE turn it off for something like a meeting, and then I turn it back on, the beep comes back. Is this something I have to do every time I turn the phone off? Like I said in my original post, I've made that registry edit. But I want it to be permanent.
Ok, for some reason after a hard reset...I can't change my profile!! Nor can I edit any profile.... i go to profiles and change to another, and it switches back to silent almost instantly. When I go to menus, inside profiles, It dosent let me into the edit screen.
I have REG edit....so is there anything I can look at? Please help
Thanks in advance!!
I had a similar problem after I edited a profile and pasted it back to my device. If you did this remove the pasted app from the windows directory or from the application\profile directory and you should regain your profiles
Ok, after about 30 minutes trying and trying..no luck. Then..just left my phone alone for an hr. Went back to try again...and all of a sudden its back to normal. Its a miracle!! HAHA Thanks
You can also hover the highlighted line on the profile that isn't work, hit the menu and choose to reset to default. That will fix it also.

Actually, that was one of the first things I tried....no luck. But its cool. All is normal now
Another thing to verify is that you have the System attribute set on the XML file before you copy it over to the phone...
On my wizard, with wm 6.1, I was able to select a number of different snooze lengths.
Now with my tp2 when I get a reminder all it says is snooze, and apparently for only 5 minutes! Aggravating.
Any way to get the old snooze options?
Thanks
REminder Snooze setting
Did you get this resolved?
If so how did you do it.
Thanks
No, I didn't. Wish someone had advice... very annoying. I need this for how I use reminders....
Thanks
Agreed. This is extremely inconvenient because I use my alarm to wake me up in the morning. Being the lazy bag that I am, I prefer to get a snooze or two in before I actually get up. I would usually do 10 minutes as it takes me approximately 4 minutes to get back to sleep.
Snoozing for 5 minutes feels so... wasteful. It boggles my mind why they would neuter this functionality since it was so awesome back on my Wing.

It worked! Thanks Mesquire! You define awesome!
On a side note, it also changes the GUI for all pop up notifications, like text messages. You lose some form, but gain some function.
Hold the phone
I did the above reg change and I did get the old snooze menu but I lost my nice new soft keyboard. The one I now have is only has a number pad and a P and a W and some curser keys.
I removed the "new" from the file and no joy on getting everything back?
Thoughts?
TIA

Navigate back to:
HKLM/System/Shell/Notification/OEM
And change the value for "UseDefaultUI" back to 0. This should restore the modified UI. Also make sure that the value for "CustomUIDLL" reads "NotificationLayout.dll" verbatim (minus the quotation marks, of course). You might have deleted a letter or two by accident.
And as always... Soft Reset after performing any registry edits!
I tried both of those and still the same.
Which keyboard is this? And are you certain you are soft resetting your device?
I did this myself, but I chose flash over function and restored it to the default function. All my soft keyboards work fine (TouchPal, Full QWERTY).

It looks like a phone keypad. I have a full QWERTY but no TouchPal. I and using the stylist to push the reset button.
The only thing I can suggest is to install crackwhore's snooze options (found HERE). Then Soft reset the device by holding down the power button.
After installing it, uninstall it (so it can revert everything back to the default values), then make the necessary edits to UseDefaultUI and CustomUIDLL to restore them to the proper values. Soft reset once more and it should be back to working order.

Good try but no love from the TouchPal keyboard. I am going to try a Sprite Backup restore from 8/17/09. The check to see if that fixes things....then start to reload all the crap I had loaded since then.
Thanks for the help.

Hello everyone,
I just bought my ATT tilt 2 and I have a few issues that I would like to address. If you guys can help me address them it would be greatly appreciated.
(1) When I get a call and message at the same time, my phone doesn't stop vibrating even when I am in a call and the other end can hear a buzzing noise.
(2) In my message tab, I have a '1' icon showing that i have a new message but I have no new message. I even deleted all the messages and still it does not go away. Therefore TouchFLO is also showing me '1' new message all the time.
(3) In my previous phone (omnia), I could hit any of the front hardward key to light up the phone then I could unlock it. but that feature does not seem to work in this phone, I have to everytime hit the power key to go in and out, therefore I find no use for the lock feature. I changed the setting for it to never go on standby but then the screen always on (low visibility) and that would probably use up alot of battery.
Any fixes for these problem?
I do not mind changing ROMs but I have no idea which ones are stable and how to go about changing them. I can look up on how to change them but I need to know what people are happy with. I do not want to keep changing ROMs.
Thanks Alot for your help
Have to push power button to wake up device
I have a TILT2 and it sucks to have to push the power button to wake it up. Does anyone know how to modify this?
I would like to push one of the front buttons to wake it up as they are more accessible.
Thanks.
Number 1 is weird. Maybe try a hard reset.
Number 2: Go to Start>Settings>Today do to "Items" tab. Uncheck TouchFlo3D, and check Messaging. Hit OK, and go back to the Today screen. There should be some stupid welcome message from Microsoft in the text messages (for some reason doesn't show in TF3D). Delete it, and you can go back into the Settings and turn TF3D back on. The "1" message icon should be gone
I had the same problem, and this worked for me.
number three:
Try this link from XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=578061&highlight=wake+device+button
If you want to wake up TP2 by any hardware keys, please try: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\OEM\KEYBD "KeyLock" = 0 (default is 1) then Reset..
I have search for:
registry setting vibrate default
...with no luck
I don't want to change whether notifications use vibrate or not, but the length of the vibrate. Any notification that uses vibrate, has a LONNNGGG vibrate length on my ROM (I like the ROM, just not this feature). I'm looking for a reg edit to change it back to the normal 'buzz, buzz' type of vibrate, rather than one long buzzzzzz....
ps. I'm not wanting another cab to mess things up somewhere else, just hoping there's a registry setting somewhere that sets how long the vibrate is. It wasn't this long on other ROMs...

I'm not sure if you are going to be able to find anything other than a cab in regards to what you want. But, if you do end up with nothing involving the registry then you can try this out. It's pretty customizable as to what you can do with the vibration on your phone.
