do all the ROM versions have the same TT7? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

just wondering if all the Diamond ROMs/updates have the same build of TomTom 7 in them.

Euh, well, till now, I haven't found a rom with TTN7 in it. None on this forums, and also not in the original (dutch) rom. But can be downloaded elsewhere.

it WILL NOT BE FOUND in ANY ROM's distributed here as it is classed as Warez and xda-dev dont tolerate warez.

TT7 program isn't warez...but if you give with it with maps...then, it's a warez...
TT6 can be found in polaris roms like bepe's roms....no warez!!!

that could be an interesting discussion. why are we allowed to distribute touchflo etc and not tom tom. both are part of the rom that you bought.
is touchflo 3d opensource? windows mobile 6.1? what about other applications that are inside. can i only burn roms that have the same applications ( they differ per region)
does tom tom work without the maps? and if not: it is good for tomtom if they spread their application to as many people as possible, who then have to buy a map from them.

I agree with you, but that are not the Xda-Rulez, a bit strange but it is.
We can RIP/MODIFY/CREATE/DISTRIBUTE Winmo roms even thatts against the rulez, but we cant do that with tomtom, a bit strange, but it are rulez and we must accept them.

Wrong, if you remember two years ago Microsoft sent a nasty little letter to xda-dev about "us" hosting the ROM's on the ftp as they saw it as "licensed IP" which is what TomTom7 is with or without the maps. It will only be a matter of time before TomTom do the same.

See above post, TouchFLO is not opensource, it uses opensource libraries, as long as they do not modify the opensource libraries then they are fine. All depends on the EULA they have.
No TomTom does not work without the maps, once again see the above post.
I assume HTC have an agreement with TomTom to distrubute TT7 in the up and coming ROM's but its against xda-dev policy to "distrubute" ROM's containing warez

correct, not for AU though

Well aside from all this copyright stuff, my understanding is that if you get your diamond from a service provides (eg t-mobile or orange etc) on contract then you may get tomtom pre-installed on your device (the app is subsidised by the network), but HTC on there own do not ship simfree models with tomtom pre-installed.

ahh! I'm a newbie, so thanks for the info.

TT is not shipped in the ROM but is delivered on a cd in Holland. The problem is that TT6 is delivered and not TT7.

Now we are getting to the original question i think... Where did TomTom 7 come from then if they supply TomTom 6 with the Diamond?

Unfortunately, Mininmo doesn't run on PDA2K. Does anybody here don't interesting in working Opera on our devices?
opera for smartphone works on my xda2 with wm5.0 due to the fact that ms is joining requirements of wm for smartphones and wm for ppc's (in order to express it in very simple words). under wm5.0 smartphone and ppc edition all programs should work on both platforms. usually the installer of a program detects the os where it is installed and obviously the smartphone installer accepts wm5.0

ps: btw, it does not only accept the installation, it even works perfectly (of course without touch screen support, because smartphones do not have one).
You're right. It doesn't work...
Hmmm....doesnt Nokia9500 run Opera?

Will we see WM6 for HTC Trinity ?!

Everybody these days is discussing the upcoming GPS ROM for our favorite Trinity, but the next question is: will a new ROM come out to upgrade our baby to the newly announced Windows Mobile 6.0 ?

Will keep my fingers crossed and hope for it ... On the Himalayas & Blue Angels which started off as WM2003, there are ROMS (unofficial) for WM2003SE, WM5 (latest AKU 3.5) while on the Magician it has always stuck on WM2003SE.
So in short, pray hard. I will join you in praying as I would love to have WM6 on my trinity as well ;-)
PS : Now we got the GPS to work on the trinity, any luck to 'enable' the FM radio as well? There has been speculation on the FM Radio being available on the Trinity. :-D that would make this one of the most feature packed PPC on earth ..
I agree. I don't see Trinity's successor being released anytime soon so they should just go ahead with keeping their latest phone up to date.
As for the FM radio, hell yeah, if it's there, why the hell not enable it? Oh, wait, don't tell me... is the FM radio conflicting with the Bluetooth?
i do also keep my fingers crossed!!

I think theres a fair chance of a WM6 tom given that the Trinity is reasonably new, from all accounts there is no Trinity successor on the horizon, and with all their variants im sure the Hermes/Trinity will recieve user-made WM6s.
Fingers crossed anyway.
Fingers crossed for all that bought it sure, but there ARE trinity/tytn successors in the horizon.
For example look for HTC Kaiser, a thinner Tytn with GPS (i.e. everything that tytn and trinity is now).
Don't expect an official update. This is the reply I received from HTC:
Thank you for your enquiry concerning the HTC P3600 mobile device.
Unfortunately we will not upgrade our current devices to include the Mobile 6 software.? However, there will be new devices out which will include the software.

quite strange! Microsoft annunced yesterday WM6 saying it will be possible to upgrade some "old" devices like t-mobile dash with WM6!
The question is: when will they release an official P3600 successor?
And how much it will cost. And if it is worth waiting for it.
Tytan you are not very long in the PocketPC world eh?
"possible to upgrade" doesn't mean "the vendor will do it"
same happened in the past (more than once)
Well ... if they in fact do not release a WM6 update for the D810, then it will only hamper their sales in Australia, seeing that they only released the D810 on Jan 16th (1 month ago). So, as new WM devices are released with WM6, it will make it hard to compete if they do not provide a WM6 update ... regardless of all the functions this puppy has.

We have already talked about that. Look at google.
Couple of announcements started coming out from 3GSM on upgrades, Imate to upgrade a few, Palm to upgrade Treo, nothing from HTC so I doubt it.
I've found HTC to be follower not a leader in these type of things, same goes for their products, they are only inavative if they have to be. I guess if enough people complain and they get enough bad rap they might but from everything I've seen with HTC, they couldn't give to <fill in any explicit word here> about their customers.
Doesn't matter, Trinity will tied me over until some of those new Imate devices come out, if they live up to the specs coming out of 3GSM, there will be some pretty amazing devices, I can't want to see the clamshell one, hope it comes in HTC killing black as well as gold

Will TomTom 7 work on Hermes?

Tried to get TomTom Navigator 7 (from diamond) working on my Hermes but it fails to install and reports "the device is not supported".
Anyone had more luck or knows if a more generic version will be released soon?

I have no idea but to be honest i don't really think so. Hermes is no longer produced by HTC npw for quite some time so i doubt new versions of software will be supported by it...
Cheers.
I've read in other forums that hermes is not supported cos it doesnt have an integreated GPS, so if they can desactivate the part of the program that it checks if there's an internal gps it will work... i guess in sometime someone will make it.

The Tomtom7 that is being distributed has been ripped from the diamond. No maps are being distributed and there are a lot of people saying that Tom tom 6 maps don't work. If you can get the software working, you will still have to purchase the maps...
I've got TT7 working with the TT7 v710.1571 map since yesterday on my hermes. I've got a diffirent version then the diamond version because that one doesn't work. I don't know if I can post info about that because I think it is warez...
I tried to instal it on my hermes yesterday, no luck here. Phone saying that software cannot be instaled as is not signed, what is a bit strange as i have no problems with any other software.
Works fine on my TyTN with Western Europe map for TT6. I'm searching for the new Western Europe v7 map...
But to make it work, I didn't used the link which is in this thread but I downloaded it from an other thread. (No maps, no serial, only software)
It's working on my Hermes with map v710.1561.
UI is much better looking and there are a few new features like "where am I".
Help's you when you are lost with your navigator

Drifter

TomTom 7 working
Got TomTom 7.450 (9028) working with Australia Map 720_1838 the latest 2008 Australia Map used the cab mentioned earlier in this thread thru Rapidshare.
I have not been able to hookup to TomTom home 2.3 yet
Got it working on CRC's stable 11 ROM on my Hermes 100.
I got my TTN 7.450 (9028) from TPB but the cab files appear to be identical to the ones posted in this thread... but it includes some other goodies that have been available for a long while.
Also apparently I have outdated maps though (damn you in2vnyl) as my maps were only v705_1485 but I am now upgrading to v1838 care of IPM.
IPM
IPM IP Mart Forum is really organized takes a bit of reading but the site has a lot of helpful information concerning TomTom GPS.
New TomTom setup with lastest TomTom application and 2008 Australia Map s really awesome. I don't think text to speech is featured for PPC Though

New TomTom maps v825: Newer not always better

Just to let you know that for a number of regions new Tomtom v825 maps are available for our HD. The map with the endings v825.2158 and 2159 work on the HD and PDAs, the 2157 are for PNA.
However, some users i.e. for the 2157-version of the new DE map report that street changes that were included in the previous v815 are now again gone in v825. But 2157 does not run on the HD anyway, so hopefully upcoming PDA-version is better.

Hi,you can't buy these maps because your device is not recognized by tomtom home for the download . Only devices mentionned by tomtom can download new maps .
Compatible Devices , Touch HD doesn't appear ...
Latest TT Home will recognise HD as valid device.
Latest is 2.5 ( 2.6 is beta version ) and if you buy a map you could not download it , even if your pda is recongnised , the device ID is not in Tomtom database . We do a try with a Diamond, and a Touch HD no listed in Tomtom, we could buy a new map,we saw it in Tomtom home but we've got the following red message : This device is not compatible with Tomtom navigator 7 and just an old V675 could be downloaded . Tomtom confirm that by phone ...
there is a workaround to get the new maps and get TThome to work with your HD, it isnt illegal although isnt official or supported.
its contained in the main TT thread if you want to go and look for it, search iberia
Sorry, but Tomtom doesn't tolerate this method ... ( modify or hacking to make compatible ) . You can contact support for more infos .... You can find this on the forums devoted to Tomtom ...
Tomtom has decided not to market Tomtom Navigator 7, which we regret, we are forced to conclude that its users have in their possession an unofficial version therefore pirated.
Tomtomax will not give technical support or equipment of any kind on this version . (See our rules) .
In addition, we give the right to remove Tomtom Navigator 7 profile or signature of the poster, and to suspend the Poster's Tomtomax account Tomtomax .

Don't assume that what has happened in France is equally applicable around the globe. In the UK, I've found Tomtom to be more forward thinking.
A month ago I loaded ttn7.910.9185 then installed Tomtom 2.5. This recognised my Touch HD (Dutty 1.7 ROM) and I was able to purchase and download West Eu map 815.2024. I have since purchased and used TT traffic. I am still able to get map share info when I connect to TT home 2.5.
I queried TT UK on another matter and they were interested on how I had got my Touch HD working. Their reply regarding TT7 Nav being pirated or not was:
"Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support
Navigator 7 has been released preinstalled on certain PDA's in just a few countries in Europe, including the Vodafone HTC Touch Diamond in the Netherlands.
This product has not been released in and is not supported in UK. Any PDA's or mobiles with this product preinstalled are either cracked versions or have been imported from abroad. As in your case - it was imported from abroad.
The screen size issue you mentioned is one of the examples why Navigator 7 is not yet compatible with the HTC Touch HD. Some people have experienced that the size of the navigation screen is way smaller than the actual size of your HTC screen. We thank you for offering in testing navigator 7 however we already have our R&D department working with compatibility".
I suspect the issue over an imported phone to the UK is actually the cooked ROM source that I am using.
I presume from their reply that If I had imported a Dutch THD for use in the UK then there would be no issues?
nick
Thanks for your input, Marcdu81 just tries to be helpful and steer people away from using TT on their HD. Well, I, like thousands of other community members here, use it on our HD, in fullscreen, and TT knows that in some countries Navigator 7 was bundled with the HD and other HTC devices. As long as they can sell the maps they are happy, but dont expect support for a TT version on an imported device. TT support in my country will also let you port your maps purchased for another PDA device to the HD, given that they have been bought six months ago, under warranty.
Chance for you but in France using Tomtom 7 is not recommanded . They contact us to delete the cab application in our forum ... No problem we'll use an other navigation software ... Each country is different,i don't know why,I think Europe is not the same for everybody ...

You've answered your own question.
The Kaiser is a Windows Mobile device, and the Desire is an Android device.
Software for one does not work on the other because they are completely different operating systems.

It isn't available for Android yet, and Tom Tom seem to be taking an extraordinary amount of time developing a version.
There are loads of other commercial offerings though, and a smattering of free ones (e.g. Google Navigation). Personally I use Copilot which I find to be exceedingly good and excellent value for money (around £55 for full European maps, or £27 for a single region). There are plenty of others though (Sygic, NDrive etc), and I'm sure one would suit your needs.
Regards,
Dave
