[9/4/08] ARTEMIS TOUCH 4.02 WM6.1 WWE ROM
ummm...if u've synced it with outlook on the pc...deleting the contacts from outlook will delete the contacts on the phone the next time it syncs....u mite need to restart the fone...
Sorted found it out went into sim manager found delete contacts did it that way.
Thank you tho.
Not an elegant but working method, without pc and outlook:
1, rename pim.vol to pim1.vol in root directory
2, soft reset
3, deleting pim1.vol (a new and emty pim.vol created automatically)

Hi there, before upgrading to WM6, i wanted to sync my universal with outlook to have all the contacts and calendar entries backed up. Active sync showedsuccessful sync, but contacts didnt sync at all. after trying few more times, i thought i leave it, just copy PIM.VOL to sd, as i usualy do, upgrade, and then replace the clea PIM with the backed up one.
the problem started, when my backed up PIM seem to shrink in size as soon as i restart the device. contacts dont open a all. i tried the same pim vol on another universal, and the same problem appears. i simply cant get my contacts back.
what do you think it can be, coz to me it looks like a corrupted PIM.
i was trying to find some kind of PIM editor to get my contacts back, but wth no luck.
is there anything i can do, has any one know the way?
Not sure what your problem is.
But AKU3+ onward to Crossbow PIM.VOL is different from AKU2 PIM.VOL in the data format.

i think the rom he had installed was the original O2 one, so you recon flashing back to aku2 rom will let me see contacts again?
Please post all utilites for handling/copying/extracting/repairing/
restoring/upgrading etc for pim.vol
I have backed up a pim.vol and changed my device with same OS WM 5.0 however when the pim.vol is restored the contacts do not appear.
1)Is there any software to read pim.vol and extract it in txt,csv file.
2)Is there any software to rewrite pim.vol to fit in newer roms.
3)Is there any software to upgrade or repair pim.vol files.
4)Is there any way to add data from pim.vol to Outlook .
5)I have two pim.vol files both of different devices but WM5,
Is their way to interchange data between them so that each other device
has data of the other device. (One is empty in my case)
Thank You

Same problem
I have a similar problem. I would like to fix a failing pim.vol. If I put it on my device I get "no service" on the phone and can't access my calendar or contacts.
I found a perl script that parses pim.vol for contacts, but it only extracted about 20 out of over 100.
I have exactly the same problem as drkosse except that my contact list is around 4000 and I just updated like 5% of it last week without sync. So I really need it back up. Any tools to fix it?
Hey,
I am also urgently needing some application to read or extract my contacts from a pim.vol.
Any suggestions>?
I thought there is an answer for this...
I would also be highly interested in something that could do that.
yes im having the same problem! i went froma moto Q to HTC Mogul 6.1
i copied the pim file from the storage card after renaming the first one.
the soft reset. then clicked contacts and it just shuts out!
im not sure what to do now. i need those numbers!
lol
I had the same problem, flashed my Omnia with a new rom, forgotten to extract all contacts appointments etcpp, so had searched for a tool to extract the information from the pim.vol (which i saved wisly before)
had found this:
http://www.phatware.com/index.php?q=product/details/dbexplorer
looks like it works, doing now an extract of the data and restore into the systems pim.vol (else it won't work, the pim.vol's are incompatible through different roms ): )
I also really do need a tool for repairing my pim.vol DB. Isn't there any solution available yet? Calendar and Contacts won't start anymore, also I get shown thet there is no Service available, if I use my broken pim.vol. If I rename it and it gots replaced with a newone, everthing is working fine again, but all my data is lost, of course. Also DBExplorer isn't working for me, it says that file is no valid database or broken. :-( Can anyone help me pleaze! Greetz, BKC
Hi there again...I installed latest Schap's 3.57 rom on my Hermes 200...
I'm now facing this weird problem...Everytime I download a message with pocket outlook, I can open it, read it , save attachments, but when I exit the program and then restart it again, the inbox folder is empty even if I didn't delete anything...I've been looking for some setting inside the phone and in the forum but I might have overlooked it...any help?
Hi All,
I'm trying to move my contacts from my HTC P4350 (Herald) to the Excalibur
i'm using xml contacts backup to backup and restore them on herald but its not supported on excalibur , is there any other way to copy them?
Thanks.
just activesync the herald, save them to Outlook, and then restore to the Excalibur? Thats the easiest way
Also, you could save to the sim card, and then move or copy them. Personally I leave them on the sim at all time (updating every once in a while) and set the phone to not show sim contacts. Then, copy em all to the phone. Works great in case of an emergency hard reset
i use this software, to register use 00000 with anyone name
sorry for my english
Hello there,
Recently I almost had my BA dead. Fortunately, I've managed to save it and now I'm facing a great problem. I'm so tired and I can't think of any solution, I need it fast that's why I'm asking you.
My phone during the "good times" was named something like WM_blbabla. I had all my contacts and calendar synchronised and it worked perfectly well. After disaster (i had to reinstall OS), I named my phone with some other blablabla, and although all info is still in my Outlook 2007, I can't manage to force contacts to sync with the phone. Whatever name I try, Outlook cannot send all these contacts to my phone (it doesn't create any new personal file though). How can I restore this data to my phone?
I hope you can all understand me - data is in outlook, my phone after synchronising doesn't want to download it. how do i do it
mmm, have you tried to name your ba the same as before?
that probably wouldn't help, i call my device the same name after each hard reset and every hard reset, still the old partnership needs to be deleted.
maybe you should try this: since your device seems to be rather empty these days, hard reset it again, and before even connecting it to the pc, make a backup of your outlook data file (outlook.pst) but don't copy it, move it some place else. then go to activesync or synchronisation center, depending on your os, delete all your former partnerships. now you have a clean system, open outlook, it will give you an error message, that no outlook.pst was found and if it was relocated you should give the new location, try not to do that, but let outlook make a new one, if that doesn't work, google and download an empty outlook.pst fitting your outlook version, remember, since you backed up the old one, no mail or pim information is lost. import that. if that does not work, re install outlook.
my point is: have an empty outlook, have an empty activesync and an empty device, then set up the partnership for sync and sync it, make sure to set all the options like you want them, plus the "overwrite on the device" option, when this empty syncing went well, disconnect your device, kill outlook and activesync overwrite your empty .pst with your old one, this time copying it (to still have a backup) with your old one, restart outlook and activesync or your entire pc, whatever might work best, then connect your phone. if the "empty sync" worked, your full sync with actual data will also work, and within, say, 20 minutes for this entire process, you have all your pim data restored, and then, please do yourself the favour and expecting possible future sync issues, like with some of the newer roms, use pim backup to keep a backup of your mobiles information.
this was just the result of a minor brain storming session, please don't judge me, in case your problem is so complex, this wouldn't fix it. but i guess it would still help you find the errors.
good luck
