Does anyone know where I could find a pin configuration chart for the display cable inside the uni?
I know its adventurous but I wouldnt mind making a monitor out!

Yes, i'm also things about that, but now don't have too much free time to play with it
Come on people does anyone know?
Or is this gonna be a long week with the multimeter and a few books!
SD to VGA adapter maybe??
I saw in one of the Windows mobile magazines that they make SD to VGA adapters. It mentioned that there was a microSD version soon to be released, and that there was a bluetooth product as well.

If memory serves me correctly the Universal was original sold with an optional TV/VGA out cable. It may be worth posting on the HTC forum itself or digging around. I am pretty sure that it was only the first few G3 devices that were advertised as having these cables, but have had a dig around myself last year for these to no avail.

Interest information, do you know more details about that
Wow, that sounds kewl, might have to email HTC.
The only info I could find on this is whats in the Wiki anyways
The touch-screen controller given shows the pin-outs which should tell us the touch-screen pin-config'.
I've given up on this anyway so I turned my camera into a nightvision camera really easy to do!

Share more details, I too was playing before with camera and IR leds
sorry this will be mega rushed just realised im still in my pjs and gotta be at work soon!
Basically you dissasemble to PDA as shown in the wiki, then take apart camera base, behind it there should be a coloured filter (IR filter) take it out and replace with two really dark things (like the begining of a negative) then put together and take pictures in the dark whilst pushing a button on a remote control i will make a proper how to do thingy when im home tonight!
Bye for now!
IR Camera
Right first of all I think I tried it with my Uni and couldn't suss how to get to the IR filter but I tried it on my Nokia and its working like a charm!
1: Take apart the phone,
2: Uncouple camera,
3: Using a knife prise the four corners of the circuit board off the base of the camera (make sure you only go about 1mm in MAX! Also make sure you remember which way round it goes ),
4: Unscrew the lenses off the front,
5: Punch out the IR filter, this should be the slightly coloured one usually red (or find a way to take it out properly if you wanna keep it but mine was glued on),
6: Find an old photo album and take the negatives, look for the first part where it is just pure black (no pictures) and cut two circles out of it to place where the IR filter was, (this will be your visable light filter),
7: Reassemble,
8: Go somewhere dark and use a remote control as a light source and take photos!

Hi all,
Anyone com across a Car holder for the Desire with a charge dock built into it? Have searched eBay but some across nowt!
Cheers,

http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=199788 Is the official One and will be released Soon
Go to http://www.brodit.com, select English and then search for 'Desire' (top left).
Lots of suppliers, but I'd reccomend www.mobilefun.co.uk

NaviPane
Attach the HTC Desire Car Upgrade Kit and your device automatically activates the "NaviPanel" interface that provides quick access to all the essential phone features while driving.

As far as I'm aware we don't have NaviPanel installed by default - could this be packaged with Froyo possibly?
It's a bit of a leap of logic, but it seems significant that they're choosing 22nd July to launch this when the Froyo rumours seem to be pointing towards the next fortnight. Why else would they wait so long to get a product like this out?
EDIT:
If your Desire is not unlocked and it's from any particular operators, then the phone might not come with NaviPanel' software.

Cheers to all for the replies, the HTC one is the same price as the bloody phone Looks the part though.
I saw the brodit one before alright, the mounting mechanism is a bit naff though. Prefer the good ol suction jobbie on the windscreen

You have to stick a cable into your phone with that i think. Im looking for something like the brodit where you dont need to use any cable. the micro USB plug is mounted in the stand
I bought one of these from the bay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260613246983
Had one from the same company for my HD and it was brilliant!
They're a little pricey, but they fit perfectly and do the job nicely!
I have two , the brodit and a cheap one from ebay that I got for travelling.
Brodit is nice but doesnt allow you to use a flexiskin on the desire. The cheap one does as it has two pressure pads at the side, and its amazing for the price. Used it for a weeks holiday abroad without any problems.

Ended up buying this:

Found it in the Accessories forum
Cheers to all for the advice!

Of course my first thought was whether or not it would fit on our captivates. Seems less deadly than the hack I saw awhile back where someone put a Galaxy S replacement front facing camera in their captivate.
link for the captivate/i9000 ffc?? I have only seen it in the Vibrant (which worked really well)
and thats actually not a half bad idea for the mirror thing. I mean really, people don't use the ffc that much anyway, so for the few times u do use it, this would probably work just fine.

There is no Captivate FFC - The i9000 was born with it - just find the product spec page.
I just can't imagine carrying around a mirror accessory just to video chat - if you want a FCC, but a phone that does it.

Some people are modding Vibrants (which do not come with a FFC) with the i9000 FFC or the Epic4G FFC.
Also "buy a phone that does it" is hardly a solution seeing as how there are so few out. AT&T only offers one, and it's the iPhone. Sprint has the other two, and obviously are not compatible for the AT&T network. That only leaves the i9000 but buying it straight up is rather costly, whereas T-mo people who do the FFC mod spend $16 (yes, the camera assembly for the i9000 is that cheap).
I'd also be interested in seeing it done for the Captivate.

do you know how to read??
I know the i9000 has a ffc, but if you read the original post, he claims someone hacked up a captivate with the i9000 ffc. I simply asked for a link.
alright lets straighten this out
Without any proof of concept for a FFC for the captivate i am calling it BS or not possible. We have exhausted this to no end in the Dev. forum in about 6 different threads and there just isnt a spot for the FFC to sit. If you look at the tear town pictures of the captivate v.s. the i9000 you will see that there FFC and back camera have two different mounting spots. Unfortunately for us there is only 1 mounting spot and its taken up by the main camera. to get the FFC in the captivate you would have to buy the part and then tear apart the guts of the wiring and re wire it so it would be able to literally be soldered on the back of the main camera, then hope you were good enough with that soldering gun to get it facing exactly right through the hole you would have had to scratch or dissolve out of the black in the front of you phone.
Like I said I am more than willing to see some proof and be proved wrong but i imagine he is thinking of the Vibrant guys who also have two slots and have successfully gotten a i9000 FFC in their phones!
Done and Done.

Yeah buddy I can read.... and I said there is no FCC for the captivate (unless you count the one I posted)... there is no room inside or connection on the board. Just because someone claims to have seen something, doesn't make it so. There are links to BigFoot and Nessie on the internet too.
This idea has been around since the captivate launched.

You people have no creativity. Thats why i like the vibrant forum. People around are all "you cant" and "buy a phone that does" "and it would de-value" blah blah. There is no reason it cant be done. If it works on a vibrant a similar mod should work on a captivate. I know the vibrant has the mount built in. But thats hardly a dificult obstacle. I had know idea the camera is that cheap and i may just buy one to prove a point to the naysayers.
Also the mirror thing has been disgussed and i wouldnt use it. It looks silly. Id rather harware brick my phone in an atempt to preform the mod than be seen with that thing. But i dont discorage others from using it

I would be shocked if the internal memory was a MicroSD and not soldered to the board. It kind of defeats the purpose to make it non-removable and NOT give us the performance of a dedicated connection.

From a diagnostics, servicing & repair point of view it would be much cheaper and easier if it was an SD card.
Not sure about manufacturing. Probably about even.
Just wondering if the only way to open up the One X is to remove the LCD screen? If yes then what's the point of knowing if it's a 32mb SD card? Is the average joe able to open it up anyway?

Put a HOX under X-ray (Turn it OFF first) and post a pic here.
We'll find out, if there is a memory card or something. Also, may be we'll see how to disassemble a HOX.
I think the HOX may be easier to disassemble that you might think.
I bought a gel skin case for mine which I take off fairly often because the HOX is so damn beautiful and nice to hold that it seems a crime to ruin it with a case.
Anyway, the case it quite a snug fit and I noticed when removing it that if I put my thumb on top of the polycarbonate just under the buttons at the bottom of the screen and firmly but gently flex it back I can snap the polycarbonate away from the screen by just a few millimetres. I can clearly see three little snaptabs sticking off the bottom of the screen that hold the polycarbonate in place. It snaps right back into place immediately.
I am too scared to try this right now but I think with further gentle pressure the whole outer casing would be levered away and you could lift all the innards out of the polycarbonate unibody.
There is clearly no "tool" access to the device so I assume that this is how it is assembled and disassembled.
BTW, here is a short video of the "opening" I mentioned above :

ok, so we need for the harrier a linux driver for the chip and the harrier is fully work :victory:
Does Linux/Android treat the MSM5500 like a modem? I have seen references to Linux drivers for USB modems that use the MSM5500 chip.

O.K.- scanning had been a stupid idea- those modern machines don't give a sharp&deep enough pic.
Now made several photos of unshielded BA & Harrier mainboard. Will upload tomorrow.
For first two pics, didn't have good light yesterday evening.
Interesting: Harriers' GPS-antenna is placed where BA has bluetooth; harriers' bluetooth is next to IR.
The area under black foil is for simcard-holder.
Flashlight of harrier can't be built in BA, has got two spiral contacts on motherboard.
The board layout is surprisingly different for looking so similar on the outside.
Are any parts the same and interchangeable? LCD maybe?

P.S.: Just found these three pics. But QC-chip is hard to read.
At the cam you see top right two brass squares- are the contacts of flashlight conjuncting to the spiral ones on the mainboard.
Will compare BA and HA cam, and IF they should be different mount HA cam in BA to test if it works.
P.P.S.: Will check BOTH Qualcomm-chips.
If you download my pic HAV3 (third in post#14) and turn it 90° left you can pretty good read it.
Small QC-chip:
PM 1000
QUALCOMM
46A0VCT
FF
Large QC-chip:
QUALCOMM
MSM 5500
CP90-V2400-13
QG2M0
QG4H8
0428004H800 R
Can please test this on Harrier...
start Mtty select USB and type: (don't copy and paste!!!)
Code:
password |40r0~0y~~5~0000
it looks it is static?!

Hello XDA Forum,
my daughter's tablet screen was cracked. A Chinese web shop offered replacement screen (lcd, digitizer & glass combo) and I ordered giving them correct model of the tablet. Now, I received physically perfectly fitting gear but I won't get any image on the screen. I can see backlight lit for a short while.
I swapped the faulty LCD/digitizer/glass back and could see picture just perfectly. So it seems like resolution issue. I even swapped the new LCD back while tablet was powered up (I know, I know..) and I could see picture in the replacement screen as well! But the image was distorted just like you've seen in CRTs when resolution/refresh don't match the screen capabilities.
Tablets model is Asus ZenPad 10 Z301M-1B006A. This site explains the differences pretty well:
w w w . p d e v i c e . c o m
/comparison/asus-zenpad-10-z301m-vs-asus-zenpad-10-z301mf
Even the GPU is same for 1920*1200 and 1280*800 system.
Actual replacement LCD is NV101WUM-N52 (1920*1200).
It perhaps should have been TV101WXM-NU1 (1280*800).
I saw some web shops giving possibility to select resolution but my Chinese web shop just asked the model. I have perfectly correct model in the order.
The sticker on the replacement panel says ATAB435 and "Asus Z301M Z301MFL" plus some Chinese chars. This suggests the LCD was indeed intended for Z301M/1280*800 tablet.
Now, the question is, could my replacement screen picture problem be due to wrong initial Android bootup resolution setting which I could possibly change with adb thus upgrade the tablet to 1920*1200 reso?
Hope this question made any sense at all.
BR,
Timo

I don't have this device myself but, I did a little digging around...
First of all, I did see that the new display is actually compatible for your device.
If this were me, my next thought would be to go to the following manufacturers website FAQ section...
https://www.asus.com/us/Tablets/ASUS-ZenPad-10-Z301M/HelpDesk_Knowledge/
... and see if I can locate anything that's regarding the Display (ie... LCD, Digitizer, Display, etc...) to see if there was anything that may/might/does apply to your issue.
Personally stating, I can only assume that it may be tied to some type of Calibration or similar.
Just to clarify, if this were me, and nothing worked, I would just double check all the connections. Specifically for connections that may be loose, dirty, disconnected (by accident), etc... because things can happen when putting them together that was overseen/forgotten accidentally.
In addition, I would look at some YouTube videos in replacing the Digitizer Display for the same/similar device. I would do this only as a reference regarding what I did and see if I had overlooked anything.
If all is well and nothing was successful, I would personally feel that this Digitizer was simply defective. I would then look to begin the process of returning/replacing the Digitizer.
If I obtained the same Digitizer part, and the same happened, I would just look into return/exchange that one for the other part.
It's really hard to diagnose many items/issues without having the actual/same device.
I hope that this was helpful in some way and I had explained this okay via text.
I do wish you the best of luck!

First of all, your effort is highly appreciated. Thank you.
Very interesting. What made you think my replacement display combo (LCD: NV101WUM-N52) is compatible with Z301M? All hints I could gather was stating it's compatible for Z301MF* models.
I tried to look for this information but couldn't really find the proof.

This is my study hypothesis as well. First, I was thinking that my problem is just due to the LCD not understanding the signal sent to it by the GPU.
commands like:
Code:
adb shell
wm density DPI (Change display density)
wm size RES (Change display resolution)
might change the startup resolution so that the new LCD can show it and otherwise get initialized properly.
I was just puzzled that Google didn't give any hits of people doing this so I just couldn't believe I'm the 1st one to experience this. This is why decided to ask here.
What I do not know is can ARM or tablet hardware in general negotiate screen refresh/resolution/DPI information via the cable or is it always something which is hard coded in the firmware itself? After all a tablet isn't really a plug and play hot swap equipment, eh?
Only thing avoiding me to test above approach is that the web shop may want to replace my new LCD. Let's see how it boils. Is it broken or is it electrically unfit for the hw/sw model I have?

I hear you. I did this approximately 10 times. Some 5 times I switched back to the cracked 1280*800 and shows the picture fine. Back to NV101WUM-N52 and all I get get is backlight.

Jep. I think I just need to send it back to China. But please come back to me and tell how did you come to conclusion the screen is fit for Z301M?

I've seen that part number for your device within some other websites like Amazon, eBay and even Asus as a replacement part option.
I've seen this before. Sometimes a new device will have upgrade options when it's first launched.
I've got an Asus Transformer T100TA Tablet where this option was provided for the Digitizer, Memory and a few others.
As a matter of fact... I've got my Asus Tablet still apart with the newer Digitizer Display ready to be put back together. Unfortunately it's been ready to be assembled for approximately a year now (shame on me... LOL! ).

LMAO!!!
It's actually my first (and only) tablet I've ever owned. It's like a BIG Android... LOL!
I've got a good handful of various Android devices, 3 Laptops and 2 PC Towers (with 3 monitors). This list only includes what's actually working (also less the various parts as well). On top of the various projects I'm involved in bouncing from one to another as well as Life itself.
You can see why reassembling the tablet is actually something I want/need to do, it's just not very high on my priority list at this point in time.
I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you.
One last detail for the record should someone else sometime stumble upon this problem.
Z301M original LCD is KD101N59-42NA-A8 which was later replaced, according to test report 081-170425-200, by TV101WXM-NU1 1280*800.
So be careful when ordering replacement screen for Asus ZenPad 10. There is also some green & yellow connector difference which wasn't involved in this case but I just wanted to mention it here.
