Check out Mikey1022's signature. He has the "official" Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0 ROMs. You just need to flash one to your phone the way you flashed 6.1.

You have to download the original wm6 or whatever rom that you want and then reflash your phone.

Techy2001, if you don't like the 6.1 ROM and want to roll back to T-mobile's 6.0, just go to the T-Mobile website and download the 6.0 ROM and reinstall it back on your phone. By the way, which 6.1 ROM you have on your device now. OK, techy2001, you know nothing is wrong with phone, you just don't understand the new 6.1 ROM yet. A lot of people on this website will be willing to help you, if you would just slow your roll.

Hey techy2011, I'm just going to let you know as most will all agree the tmobile 6.0 and lower roms are so horrible compared to these newer Roms. Those memory leaks were flat out horrendous. You might just need to tweak a few things and you will be in heaven. So it's your funeral but it's also your phone and choice. Take it easy.

why not ? there are lots of roms out there, check the wiki-pages
Choose your favourite, don't forget to run USPL before flashing and there should be no problem
....and please don't ask which rom is the best one - there are lots of threads about that and imo it's inadequate the say which one is the best.
All the cooks are trying to create great roms - it's up to you which one you like the most....
Yes you can upgrade or degrade
You can always upgrade to WM6 and downgrade to WM5 if you intend to change later. I have done it before many time installed different ROM's.
You only need to run USPL before any new ROM install.
I did this myself just the other day. You can get the official ROM from here for the UK XDA Orbit.
http://member.htc.com/ruudownload/O2UKRuuDownload.aspx?sn=SZ721FX00383&refer=http://www.my-xda.com/xdaOrbitSoftware.html
This one does'nt need USPL since it is the official ROM.

I think I'm going to go this route. That site says I need Activesync 4.5 - however I'm on Vista and using the Sync Centre application - will this do?
Have a look at this thread Anjow
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317589&highlight=vista
I think it has everything you need.
Thanks. Given how complex that looks I think I'll just use my XP machine to do it.
Am I right in thinking that upgrading like this will hard reset the device? That I'll need to reinstall all my programs and reinstate my appointments/contacts etc.? If so, can I create an SPB self-extracting backup on WM5 then run it on WM6 to get my config back?
I know there are lots of ROMs out there but I was just careful and used the standard O2 release:
http://xda.o2.co.uk/xdaOrbitSoftware.html
And yes, it clears out your machine unless you have installed the software on the SD card in which case it just gets confused.
But it is worth it.

Odd, that site won't accept my serial number... I have tried many different combinations of what it could be (swapping 0 for O etc.) but it keeps telling me it isn't valid.
Just use the link I provided, it is the same ROM. Using the other link you have to make sure that you use Internet Explorer, other brwsers don't work.
Will do then, cheers.
slow downloads
could someone please up the official O2 UK WM6 ROM for me please?
i've tried downloading from the aforementioned official websites. it starts out at a fine speed, then gets slower and slower until it eventually times out.
really want to upgrade, so if someone could upload the official rom to megaupload/rapidshare i would be much appreciative.
thanks
Here you go, fortunatly I still had it on my HD from when I upgraded mine.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WOEXBYKO
thanks!
cheers for that much appreciated. however it seemed to download fine this time, but i'll get urs as a back up too!
this is the official ROM right?
thanks again
Yes it is the official ROM, I got it from the link I posted earlier in the thread.

Concerns before upgrading using AT&Ts WM6 ROM?

I have flashed my 8525 a few times in the past thanks to this forum, I settled on the Black X ROM some time ago and have been pretty happy since.
Today I decided to just check to see if AT&T ever actually released a WM6 ROM for the 8525 and discovered that they did.
First instinct is I want to give it a shot even though I am pretty confident I will not care for it and will find it overly bloated and sluggish. But I would still like to try it if for no other reason then to know I can get my phone back to an official ROM in case I need to give it back (its a work phone).
I don't see any stickys addressing this but I believe I have read in the past issues or things to be concerned with when going from one of the many cooked roms out to an official ROM, something about the bootloaders or something?
Before I get in over my head I would really like to get some ideas of what to look for and be aware of. Document and share what I currently run prior to attempting the upgrade in an effort to avoid any unneccessary problems.
Currently have the following:
Bootloader (I believe this is what you call this, the multi colored screen):
HERM100
IPL-1.04
HERM100
SPL-2.10.0lipro
OS:
WM6 CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2)
Black X
8/9/07
Radio 1.50.00.00
I am hoping to upgrade to the ROM released by AT&T labeled as:
RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3.62.502.3_6275_1.54.07.00_108_UOOS_SVN05_Ship
Any insight or experience others can share that I should be aware of please let me know.
Thanks,
Dane
Hello Dane,
I did the AT&T update... Used it for a few days and went back to the cooked Roms. AT&T included a lot of stuff I'd never use...
If you change Roms a lot (like I do! ) then it is good to flash and run an official Rom before installing the latest and greatest.
Just download it and keep it handy...
I flashed the ATT Rom. Its actually pretty quick. If you do a soft reset while its customizing you can elimniate a lot of the bloat. THen go to the exgtended rom and install what you want to install and delete the rest. I also found my call quality is better with the new radio...

Go with vp3g's latest rom. It's the official rom without all the bloat. There's a version I posted to include the setacousticparam so that the earpiece volume is louder..

Where can I find the T-Mobile WM 6.1 stock rom?

Does anyone know where I can download the official T-Mobile WIndows Mobile 6.1 stock rom? I'm not liking 6.5 much and would like to revert back to 6.1. Would I have to do anything differently to install it? Thanks in advance.

You'll find it, with instructions, here.
Notice that there's also a radio cab there...the stock 6.1 ROM there (the only one available anywhere right now, as far as we know) does NOT flash you back to the radio version that came with it in your originial ROM...you need to flash back to that separately. However, you don't have to do that if you don't want to. If your call/data connections were better with 6.1 then you probably should flash back the radio too....if they're better on 6.5, OR if you notice no difference, then I wouldn't bother with the radio.
yep, if you use the search button on xda in the rhodium section and search for cdguider rom or even just cdguider you should be able to find it easily.
It is just the rom, no radio rom is attached.

How can i save my current rom / os

The reason because i ask is, that i want to try WM6.5, so i will go on.
Is it possible to save all data on my phone and to restore it, if i decide to want to switch back to my current state rom with all messages / programms and so on from WM6.1
Help, suggestions, "anything" is welcome, feel free to answer.
sprite data backup does full back ups. SK Tools also has backups. Microsoft Myphone backs up all data, but not ROM info.
I would suggest going a different route tho, because restoring your ROM from a backup could cause issues. Back up your files only (text, pictures, contacts, etc) with Microsoft MyPhone. When you relfash your new rom, just log into myphone and download the information back to your phone. Also, another way to speed up the flashing process is to use XDA UC, which can silently re-install new programs after you flash your ROM.
what IS your current rom? is it stock?
More info would be nice.
If it is a stock rom that is already here then it shouldn't be a problem to go back, but if not, you'll have to dump the rom...

#1 My current rom is the standard Windows Mobile 6.1 Rom from o2 (live in germany)
#2 What u mean by Stock?
#3 @ More Info, i can free download a newer Windows Mobile Version - 6.5 - i think its a "providerabused" version - Link: o2online.de/nw/support/downloads/software/xda/htctouchpro2/htc-touch-pro2.html *can't post functionally link :<*
#4 What u mean by "shouldn't be a problem to go back" i thought that when i install WM6.5 that i loose my WM6.1, could you please tell me more about to restore the WM6.1 if i don't like the WM6.5?
#5 "you'll have to dump the rom..." Could you explain more?
Sorry that im not so experienced on that term, im an it guy, but this is new to me.
Would it be better to use an HTC WM6.5 instead of an o2 version?

When they are asking if it's a stock rom, that means have you flashed a new operating system on it (ie custom rom). Sounds like you haven't so you have the stock rom on there. When they say it shouldn't be a problem to go back, they mean you can always load the original rom that came with your phone, so give 6.5 a shot, and see how you like it. You can use microsoft myphone to backup your data. I use spb backup, but it's not free.
Personally, I would suggest you use a "cooked" rom by someone on here. As far as suggestions, just check out the rom section. Can't really say one is better than the other. Just back up your data, and flash away. Like I said, you can always load the original rom that came with your phone. Once you use a custom rom, you won't want to go back to the stock one. Hope this helps.

The stock roms from all the versions of the TP2 are available here in the forums, along with all the cooked/aftermarket ones. You can flash back to an earlier version of a stock ROM (like the o2 6.1 ROM) just like flashing to a newer stock (or cooked) one. In fact, you can switch official ("signed by HTC") ROM's without having to use HardSPL first...you only need that when you start to use cooked ROMs.
Is there a generel Toolsetup that i need?
Or is it simply a EXE that will do all on my phone by it self?
Other thing, is it whise to use custom oder cooked roms? i always think about securty in that term, so i dont want to keylog my data to anyone or, getting psycho if im think that, there could be software like trojans or keyloggers included.

XDA has wiki's and stickies for a reason. No offense, but you sound way to green to be doing anything without first doing a LOT of reading. Go to the Rhodium/Roms sub-forum and start reading ALL the wiki's and stickies. I'd suggest reading the ones in THIS sub-forum also. Once you have done this, and understand terminology as well as the device, then I'm sure it will be much easier to come back to this thread and understand what we are all suggesting to you. Good luck.

artemis p3300 new rom

hi guys....i dont know anything about htc artemis...i mean...if needs some kiind of unlock...or etc....i want to flash a new custom or original rom... wm 6.5 or 7... or android if its possible...but i want greek language....can anyone help me.. pls..?
I need details pls...because as i said i dont know anything...the only experience i have is with the samsung galaxy s 2 that i own... thanks
If I remember correctly, you should at first unlock your Artemis with USPL. Stick to the instructions and nothing bad should happen.
Then choose a ROM from here and install it (there should be instructions how to do this in ROM's thread or in readme.txt).
You can't flash Android or Windows Phone 7 on this device - it's just too weak. Of course, there were some guys who tried to port Android, it booted, yeah, but only few things worked (calling and touchscreen :E, no wifi, gps, audio) and it was very slow.
There are some WinMo 6.5 roms, but I wouldn't recommend them - on my P3300 they were usable, fully working, but kinda slow, so I flashed back to 6.1.
Check some ROMs and choose the one that you think will work the best.
Oh. Remember: before flashing remove SIM and SD card, and after that, do a hard reset.
If you still have any questions or you're unsure about something, ASK. We will not kill you and you will not brick your Artem.
thanks my friend.....ur the best....i ll try it when i ll be in home.... of course i want full fuctions of the phone...gps..wifi and etc....so...i ll try 6.1...or 6.5...or 7.. XD but what about greek language...is there a hope to find something ?
Have a look on the forums, there are multilanguage ROMs here. I'm pretty sure you will find at least one with greek language.
Also you won't find Windows 7 roms, Artemis is too weak for this.
i was thinking about a little overclocking...so that it can run the os
thx man i ll check it.... another question...when i finish the unlocking...with uspl...i must flash the rom immediatle...i mean this process erasing the rom...or i can open it again with my old rom....and then flash a new rom..?
No worries, you don't have to flash new ROM right away. USPL just unlocks your phone, it doesn't delete your old ROM.
But you should make a backup of everything, like contacts etc. because flashing new ROM erases everything.
About greek ROMs - I haven't found any, but I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=336252
oooooooooooooooooooo my friend your the best....thats better....cause i can use it in every rom.... XDDD !!!
Well... I wouldn't be so sure about that. It's old and it may be not compatible with WM6/6.5. It's worth trying though.
