No Phone On My Ba - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

hi i am having a problem with the xda iis.when i turn on the ba it pops up a massage, in the screen,,, The file phone service cannot be opened.either its not sighned with a trusted certificate or one of its componets cannot be found.if the problem persists try reinstalling or restoring this file.
And with that massage on the window the phone DOESNT WORK.
i cant hear the other persons voice when someone calls me, or i cant make calls and hear this dodo on the line and then the caller.
i tryed to flash the phone with some other roms, but no luck the problem still there and so the massage on the window ev time i turn on the ppc.
What should i do?any ideas?the phone was working perfectly and i dont know why this happened?
is there any way to fix this prob my shelf? couse i am afraid how much it will cost me if i send it to a repair store for ppc

anyone that can help me??? heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp

Start with:
1. Dod you try Hard Reset and using it without restoring any backups?
2. What ROM do you use now? (It it is WM5, did you allow RadioROM to start after first boot?)

i hard reset the device after the flash but the problem still there
the rom i am using is win 6,1 i tried all the roms from here but the problem again still there
i dont know how to put this radio rom you said.

this message (The file phone service cannot be opened[...]) is totally out of any logic.
1. What rom (link/filename/name - version is not enough) have you installed?
2. How exactly did you do the Hard Reset?
3. What bersion of the RadioRom you have (number next to the letter R while booting)

the radio rom is 1.06.00
the rom i am using now is ROM 6,1 0S 19716 hoangdat_vt
to hard reset on the BA I pressed the on off button and the reset button the same time as i read it many times
There are 3 massages in the screen that appear ev time i turn on the ba
First the phone service massage, then the fine pbar cannot be opened etc
and the sms_alert_ fix cannot be opened e.t.c
so i dont know what to do.

This is NOT A PROPER Hard Reset - you do it different way in WM5/6. What you did was a plain soft reset.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardUpgrade4
When the upgrade is completed, you must perform a Hard Reset.
Press and hold the "Power" button, and then press the Reset Button. Colored stripes (the bootscreen) will appear on the screen.
* If you have a PH20B device such as MDAIII, QTEK 9090, XDAIIs, PDA2K etc, EITHER:
o Quickly press "Record" & "Camera" before the versions appear at bottom right
o OR press "Power" & "Camera" & "Record" buttons and Reset at the same time

I think that a proper HR will solve all the problems.

hi thanks for the answer.i did all that you said.i upgrated the radio rom to 1,15 i flashed the ba with a win 6 rom from helmi just to be sure.and i did a hard reset the way that you said it.The good news.these windows massages on the screen that the phone service cannot be opened etc, dissapeared
the bad news?? STILL NO PHONE.
i still cannot hear the other person and make calls .its like that somethin happened to the sound volume or to the phone.i start to think that maybe this problem was a bug from a previous rom i used, but it still hasnt fixed.
so any other solution?if there is any

So here we go - you did a proper HR
Now back to the problem with phone - I don't understand when you exactly mean by "no phone". For a moment I though you mean "phone subsystem does not work, no carrier (Operator) signal detected, no calls possible". But I noticed, that you write "I cannot hear the other person" - for me it suggests that you in fact initiated a call and the other person can hear you?
If so:
1. Did it ever work? When it stopped (what you did that could cause it to stop working).
2. Can you hear ringing tone? (I suppose you can easily hear dialing pad signals for each digit on the phone pad)
I have an idea, that a speaker from GSM module (it's a separate speaker) could just get disconnected/broken.

what i meant by saying no phone is that when i place a call i cant hear the ringing tone on the line and the other persons voice, and the caller cant hear me.
if a speaker is broken can it be fixed ?
and if it is disconnected how can i connect it back

So you say (I understood so), that phone module works fine? You can place the call, other party can call you (and you can hear the ringtone) plus you can place the call, other side can pick up the call and the only problem is that BA transmits no sound (at all - in neither direction: you cannot hear and the other party neither)?
I'm still not sure about all the details. If both speaker and microphone don't work, this might not be problem with diconnected mic and speaker (low chances of breaking both at the same time) but might be something simpler.
And yes: most of the broken things can be repaired the only problem might be the cost.

ok i ll check it out thanks for the reply.

Same problem, after hard reset

Phone Sound Problem?...

I have a problem with my O2 XDA IIs, the sound works perfectly for playing MP3's etc both on the internal speaker and on the external plugin headset!
Where's the problem? I hear you asking!
Well, the sound does not work at all when in a call, the caller can not hear me and I can not hear them, although the call is connected OK. The only time I can hear the caller or be heard is if I plug in a sync cable or put the device in the sync station, at that point it works ok when in a call. I belive this to be a power requirement as it also works when I plug in the car charger?
Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this problem, it has only been occuring for the last few days and I have not changed anything during this time which could have caused the problem... I know that's what they all say, but it's true this time!!!
Have you tried getting rid of unusual programs running in background? (Try 'Startup Manager' to take off some startup programs) or wait until any expert put a word on it.
There are only 2 entries starting and they are both the same as they have always been, the problem does appear to be quite random, as though every time I remove the sync cable something either happens or does not happen??
Does anyone know if there are any switches or anything attached to the sync connector on the phone which might be causing the problem?
I had a problem not unlike what you describe. It started after the battery ran very low on the phone while I was away from home.
The Phone would only work while in the cradle, and wouldn't work when out. The Speaker Phone function disappeared also.
I re-flashed the ROM.
I downgraded the ROM.
Re-formatted the storage card.
Took the Phone apart looking for a switch that might be stuck.
All to no avail.
Contacted Qtek who wanted me to return the phone.
So I tried one last thing before I gave up.
I left the phone with the Battery attached to run down again. (I left it for about a week)
re-charged the phone and its been fine ever since.
The conclusion I came too was it is a software register on the phone that was corrupted and the total drain of power cleared it.
When you ran the battery totally flat did this not clear all the stored data and installed apps etc? Only I'd rather not do that if I can avoid it?
Couldnt tell you sorry, I had already lost all data/apps with the reflash/formating.
No worries, if you hear or find anything elsewhere about this problem please let me know as this is getting very very annoying now!!!
Patch
Hi guys
This is a tipical problem of the BA. I had the same problem at the begining. This are the steps to solve it:
1. Backup your data (only contacts & meetings)
2. Hard reset of the device (press micro + On/Off button + reset)
3. Install the "PDA2k_UniDirectional_Patch.sa.cab" patch
4. Do not restore a whole backup (you will have the same problem again)
So it would be work fine. If you upgrade to the lastest ROM you will get this bug fixed too.
Good luck!
Hi i have the same problem and try a diferent approach.
Upgrade radio to version 1.15.
Problem appear to be solved.
I upgrade the rom yesterday, once i have change the board, and downgrade the rom.
What is this "PDA2k_UniDirectional_Patch.sa.cab" and what does it do exactly? As I'm already using the Radio 1.15.00.
Sound Patch
This file fixes the problem when you do not listen to the person who has called you.
You can download it from:

SMS not working anymore (and it happened already in the past but...)

Hi,
I have a VODAFONE 1605 (a plain Hermes 200, a TyTN). It had the original Italian Vodafone WM5 ROM until last month when I decided upgrading it.
I first tried the CH Vodafone version of WM6 ROM, but I had to remove it quickly because for no apparent reason, it was not working with SMS at all (no SMS out, no SMS in...).
I then decided to use HTC WM6 ITA ROM and to apply manually all the needed configurations to use it with my VODAFONE.
It run perfectly until yesterday, when it stopped sending and receiving SMS.
This is very strange as I did not install any program since one week (at least) and it seems difficult for me to be able to find any reason.
Probably the pim.vol file grew too much it is not anymore able to handle more SMS (provided the infos are inside there) ?
I have no explanations available to me and I was not able to find any kind of hint digging into the forum...
I was only able to find some other people with similar problems in the last few days but on different platforms...
Is this maybe a WM6 bug ???
Any hint appreciated.
I'll in the meaningwhile backup all of my infos and proceed to a HR... I'll keep my fingers crossed...
Dear Mix,
I wish I could give you a good answer, but... well, maybe the answer is not really an answer, but it could be at least an hint for other people like you (ME !!!).
You do not want to lose all of your settings, all of your received SMS, you do not want to waste a lot of time setting everything as it was before, so an HR is REALLY the LAST solution for you. You would like to find a tricky path to follow to bypass this unlucky situation...
You already tried to SOFT RESET your device but you did not succeed. The problem is still there...
Well, there seems to be another kind of RESET, before the HARD RESET.
I would define it the "DEEP SOFT RESET", which is something more than a SOFT RESET, but it is right before the HARD RESET.
This kind of reset solved the above problem. I don't know why, I don't know how. It only worked.
The DEEP SOFT RESET is this: press OK and ON button and while pressing those two buttons, put your stilus into the reset hole, pressing the recessed switch. This will place you into the BOOTLOADER MODE.
Keep the device there, showing all the colors and Bootloader information for around 20 seconds at least (obviously, not connected to any cable).
Then, put your stylus again into the hole for resetting and press the internal swith one time more (without pressing any other button).
Your device will reset again, your data will still be into your TyTN and your TyTN will start loading all the data it still has inside.
As soon as I did this, the waiting SMS started reaching their addressee and they moved to "sent" folder.
Again, I'M SURE THIS DID NOT WORK WITH A NORMAL SOFT RESET (I ALREADY DID THIS 20 TIMES !!!). And again, I don't know wither HOW and WHY.
It only worked.
Good luck.
UPDATE:
I've noticed that the problem aroused again and I did a DEEP investigation, with a complete reset of my Hermes...
I then placed all the same programs inside and again no problem...
Problem came back once I used a program called Hermes Tweaker v2.1b which tweaks some parameters around in the WM device...
Once I reset the parameters to default again, the problem went away.
I'll have to discover which parameter is creating the problem...
I'll post the results here (beside fit4cat's pm...)
Good luck.

Help!! just got an Xda IIs - seems locked up

Hi all, I have just got a Blue Angel Xda which is in mint condition but when powered up hangs with an unlit screen showing the O2 logo and some faint red writing near the bottom right of the screen which I cant read. It does nothing from this point.
I have tried pressing the key combination to enter bootloader mode and this appears to work with a blank white screen saying 'serial' and a version number - but what to do from there?
Can I reflash the software? does this problem sound easy to fix or is it destined for the bin? I have the docking cradle and some software with it - I would like to unlock it if possible but since I cannot access the PDA I cannot copy the unlock file to it.
Any help would be very appreciated - what software do I need to get it working again if I can?
Thanks in advance.
oh dear I was hoping I would be told it was simple matter by now - anyway in the mean time I have tried to get the phone to connect to active sync but it will not. I have put it in boot loader mode and it says serial on the screen which changes to USB when put in the cradle - still will not connect to active sync. I can in fact read the red writing on the screen which I said I couldn't above - it seems to be various version numbers of something.
I am using XP with the latest version of active sync for XP downloaded from MS yesterday.
All I want to do is reflash this XDA - I was told it was a simple thing but so far have had no luck even connecting to it.
Hi.
Try to do a hard reset first. You can learn how by reading the following:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BlueAngel_WM5_For_Beginners
No luck
Thanks for that but I never see the coloured stripes - maybe its not WM5? I can clearly enter boot mode according to that guide but otherwise just have a stuck unlit O2 loading screen. The soft reset only seems to cause a momentary blanking of the screen and then back to the same O2 logo. I have tried pressing the camera and record buttons a thousand times whilst pressing soft reset but nothing different ever happens.
isn't there a way to just reflash the rom?
Yes...of course you can reflash.
Download the rom from the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382909
Enter bootloader mode, connect your Blue Angel to the cradle and run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe.
When the flashing is complete...hard reset your device.
Wow - thanks so much you are a genius - I followed the instructions with relative ease and my Xda lives again - I need to play on a bit with it now to learn how to use it but thanks a million.
Everything seems to be OK - WiFi seems a bit flakey with connecting but once connected behaves well - biggest annoyance by far is the fact that there is no sound at all, no matter what the format and volume the xda is mute!
Heh..you're welcome.
The 'no sound' issue could be a hardware problem. If you are sure that the software is ok and you should hear sound then the best scenario would be a replacement speaker.
I have just replaced my speaker with a spare from a qtek s200 and it's great.
BA is a great device
I am not sure the software is OK - the PDA is in mint condition it seems highly unlikely that the sound is faulty - its totally silent - wma makes no sound at all.
I wonder if there is a factory rom I could try just to be sure if its the software or hardware - I have followed links to various 'ship' roms and they seem to be dead now.
I plugged headphones in and they too are dead so it it probably isn't the speaker?
Also the camera button starts media player not the camera and I dont appear to have any access to camera functions - I think this could be a software thing perhaps a less ambitious version of WM.
As a beginner in this forum its really hard to find any actual files - there is much talk about this rom and that but where are they kept?
surely there is a stock rom that can try to be sure the hardware is ok?
Hmm..
Try this wm2003 rom(run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe):
http://rapidshare.com/files/111121136/BA_O2UK_14000_237_11200_ShipXdaIIs.rar
Are you sure that there's a camera on your BA? Because some BA come without a camera.
Thing is when I try the stock rom I end up exactly where I started with it frozen on the boot screen - it just wont seem to allow me to do a hard reset - I reflashed the 6.11 and works fine but again no sound and the camera says it cant initialise the hardware (definately has one)
I even flashed a T Mobile stock rom and it froze exaclt y the same as the O2 rom on the boot screen and wont respond to the hard reset buttons.
When i flash the WM6.11 the hard reset works just as it should so I conclude from this that the buttons are OK
I am at a loss as to what is going on - right now I am back to 6.11 but no sound and no camera again but I cant see me living with it like this

iMate 9502 & 8502 WM 6.1 WWE Telstra 1.73 ROM

Hey guys,
Long time member, but first time poster . I got some good news for you iMate users out there. I was able to get the new WM 6.1 ROMs for both the iMate Ultimate 8502 and 9502, though I was told these were still considered beta ROMs. They are for the Australian market I assume as the Telstra logo displays on the boot up.
I've been using it on my 9502 for the past day or two and it seems to have fixed the following issues:
SDHC is supported now
MS Voice Command is working
GPS does not have to be turned on manually anymore
Camera program memory leak seems to be fixed. I will have to do more testing.
Ongoing issues:
Free Program Memory is still 33 MB after a hard reset
The ROM also seems to fix alot of software compatibility issue I was having. Like some of my SPB software that I normally use is now working without any freezes or heavy slowdown. It also seems to run a bit faster, especially when you slide out the keyboard. Anyways, give it a try. Hope this helps.

iMate 9502 : http://rapidshare.com/files/129807567/Ultimate_9502_V.01.73_NO_CP.rar.html
Great! Thank you!
Nice.
I went to run the update but it requires a "ROM unlock code"
Anyone know what that is?
Thanks
Dave
Re: ROM unlock code
You may find the code printed on the box you have bought the device in or on www.imate.com after you have registered your imate.

Has anyone run this beta as yet ? Keen to see what the opinions are. If WM6.1 doesn't make the device any more stable then ebay here we come which is a real pity I must say.
Just installed and it works better but yet to install my other software. GPS is missing from the wireless manager but I assume that is because GPS is now always active.
Now there is about 50mb free after hard reset. Might be some more once I get rid of the other start up shortcuts.
BTW I have an 8502 and thanks to the OP. Looks like we may be into a winner here, finally............

Got it up to 6.1 and it is true the GPS is good to go without a turn-on.
However, with this rom I am NOT able to launch iGo 06 or iGo8. Anyone else have this issue and/or a solution? Note: It was working on the old rom.
Thanks

Please help me....
I have i-mate 8502
I did the upgrade BUT before it I lounched Sprite Backup to save all phone data and settings.
After ugrading to WM 6.1 I lounched Sprite Backup again and... now I have only i-mate blue screen (i-mate sign on it) and phone doesn't go any further....
I would flash it again but my pc doesn't see it now at all.
Maybe you know some way to bring my i-mate back to life?
Please help.... Did i brake it?
Not sure why Sprite would cause that for you. I installed Sprite backup NP. I even, backed up, hard reset and restored with Sprite and not even an error.
Still can't get iGo to work though. I doubt anyone here has an 8502 WM6.0 ROM ??? At this point I would rather go back if I can't use iGo :-(

Help please...
BIG Problem
Hi,
I've run the upgrade program and it worked fine until the first reset... Now I see the message "Please reconnect to PC and run the upgrade again"... I did this 10 times and nothing... I keep getting the "Connect fail" message from the setup file... The problem is that Active Sync dosen't see anymore the phone connected and I don't think it can anymore... that message seem to be from the bootstrap program or something like that...
Please help...

After Flashed with the new ROM, My Device is now stuck in iMate Blue Screen Logo....!!!
But Don't worry Guys...it can be solved with manually hard Reset...
1. Remove battery and reinsert (to make sure the phone is off).
2. Hold down Fn and the Green button (with the phone icon on it) and press the power button.
3. You will see the white hard reset option screen almost immediately. Press the Left Soft Key to hard reset.
Work for me...
Can someone post another link? The original is not working at the moment. Thanks in advance

imate 8502
OK, I got an XP machine and did the upgrade, went smoothly in about 15 minutes.
Overall I would say it is a worthwhile improvement.
Changes/improvements:-
* PIE scrolling fixed - much smoother, now with zoom
* PIE doesn't freeze any more
* Auto GPS enabling is nice
* Camera seems to start faster
* Threaded SMS is really good (and MMS is integrated now into one account)
* Seems to now stop notifying "SMS Sent"
* Overall perf seems better
* Wireless manager is simpler (I hated the old "solar system" UI)
* Phone settings includes Network Time setting and "battery saver" HSPA setting
* Can change default phone number (w, h, m) from the phone contacts app
Things not fixed:
* Voice call volume appears to be the same
* Select and hold with center button on email attachments still tries to open them (instead of offering to save like every other PPC I have used)
Not tested:
* SDHC support - I don't have a card
Best of all is that it appears to not have introduced any new bugs (fingers crossed).
I am sure I have spoken too soon ...
One thing I did notice was SPB Backup 2.0 stops the phone from rebooting successfully (just stays on Windows Mobile screen forever) if you have scheduled backups on. Seems as if it doesn't like something in the notification queue - so just backup manually. Not sure if scheduled backups on SPB Backup 2.0 worked properly in 6.0?

I have the same issue with the "Please reconnect to PC and run the upgrade again" message. Unfortunately, the reset doesn't help. As soon as you press the power button that message comes up. I think if we got that message, we've bricked it

You may be right but in the spirit of trying everything you:-
1) PRESS AND HOLD "Fn and Green" buttons
2) WHILE KEEPING THEM PRESSED press and release the reset hole with stylus
3) CONTINUE HOLDING the Fn and Green buttons until the white reset options screen appears
Fingers crossed for you - if this doesn't work then you are right, time to send it back.
