Wireless problems & WM 6.1 (Rickys) - HTC Excalibur

I seem to be having some strange issues since I upgraded to WM 6.1 on my Dash. When I activate the wireless and let it discover my access point (configured with WPA-PSK) it finds it but then refuses to connect (marking it as offline).
Switching the wireless off/on doesn't resolve this as it will no longer even pick up my Access Point. Only when I reboot the phone will it pick it up again and then I am in the circle whereby it won't connect etc.
Are there any tools/settings I can change to clear the device out of any wireless config info (besides from doing a re-flash)? I think it just needs to be reset back to default and that will cure it as it was working ok a while before.
Thanks.

Might be your access point. Picking up the signal and connecting are two different things. I am running the Kavana ROM and it works fine against my Belkin Wirless Router G via WPA-PSK.
Can you connect using no security? (or WEP?)

Thanks am going to try that. It looks like it could be my router as I recently changed it but when I swapped back to my old router I still had the same issues.
What wireless version is enabled on the Dash - is it 11b? I am wondering if its that as my new router has 11n capability.

Yep it was my router. New firmware has fixed it.
For reference its Draytek Vigor 2820n

I've got a 2820vn and am having the excat same issues...what firmware did u update to?

I am using the 3.2.1 beta 12 firmware provided by Draytek support. I have uploaded a copy here:

Let me know if it solves your issue too.

P3300 WM6 and wifi connection issue

All,
I just got my p3300 and successfully flashed wm6. COOL.
However I have a problem now and don't know if it is wm6 issue or my own net work:
with my laptop I can connect fine wirelessly to my router
With my p3300 and through usb through my laptop I can internet as well.
My p3300 sees all wireless networks fine, but cannot connect to my network.
I input all settings, have the correct passwork and key index. The phone tries to connect, but after 20 seconds responds that I have used the incorrect network key.
I tried using manual netork ip adress. then the phone does connect, but I cannot open an internet page.....
What am I doing wrong?
Patrick
I had the same problem. At the end i restarted my router and the connection worked fine.

I haven't had any problems - but make sure that your router accepts 802.11b connections as well as 802.11g

This is strange . Most probably is my 3Com router in the office that has the problem - it is setup as 11g. At home ZyXel is 11b. Artemis ROM is BB4.1 with 802.11g enabled.

Which wireless N-router connects artemis? Belkin N1 doesnt !

@all,
just havin sold my iphone i am missing synching my mails with my pda over wireless, since my belkin n1 wireless router simply doesnt allow my artemis to connect
so, mind you telling me how you connect successfully?!
- which hardware / wlan access do you use?
greetz
Any wireless router will help you connect with artemis. I have used Dlink, netgear and also linksys routers to connect.
TO connect sucessfully, you need to activate wireless on the router. Then enable wireless in your arte using the comm manager. Once the wireless is activitated, try searching for networks.

Kailash
thanx,
but i really aint a novice!
I have tried the belkin n1 now for time and time again...it searches, finds the network, asks for the pin...and returns wireless as unavailable again...
this repeats regardless of security settings or anything else i tried
i remember there having been a lengthy discussion on this...just cant find it..
so back to my question:
which hardware does work?
ideally quote your settings as well, please
greetz
have you checked that both the router and artemis are using the same authentication type? WPA/WEP etc
it might be worth checking that your router isnt set to N-Only for connection speed too....cant remember what speeds the artemis supports but B or G are most likely and maybe your router would reject the connection if it's the wrong type...IIRC the 'N' spec is still in-progress so not widely supported yet
Try a D Link DIR-655

You are not alone!!! I bought a Belkin N1 Vision in December to replace an ageing 3Com router and no matter what I tried I couldn't get my artemis to work. Even without any security. Finally sent the Belkin back and got a D-Link DIR-655. It works like a dream. Connected with no problems at all.
Darn, that confirms what i thought for quite some time - anybody intrested in owning an N1Belkin!
Just doublechecked with an old netgear--and it connects right away...
thanx for ur help!
now could we widen the length of compatible routers, pls.?!
greetz
I use a sitecom 300N router and my artemis connects with it without any problem.
Phill
Netgear
Hi, I use a Netgear WNR834B. No problems using WiFi with Artemis.
Setup; WiFi up to 270 MbPs, region Europe, channel 6 broadcasting and the strongest encryption for security.
With all of the ROMs i have used, there were no WiFi issues.
Regards
This may be stating the obvious, and I apologize if it sounds stupid, but has anyone checked for the "wireless mode" on the router ?
Just ensure the router is on "mixed mode", i.e. it supports b/g/n connections...
Hope this helps...
hmm I also have problems with SMC (SMCWBR14S-N2), mixed mode, but not connect with Artemis.. my notebook connect without any problems.
had the same problem with n1. tried and tried last night with luck, removed all settings on artemis dissapointed. gave it another go this evening after booting system up and connected okay after putting in password.
just double check all the router wireless settings and any security settings you have. save any changes and restart the router.
hope this helps

Well done getting it to work. I thought I tried everything! Perhaps it was the restart that did it. Too late for me to confirm. My Belkin went back to be replaced with the DLink 655. Good router but does slow down with time and needs a reboot every now and then.

Problems connecting to wireless network after FroYo update (Help)

Hi everybody..
After todays android 2.2 update on my HTC Desire i ran into a problem with my wireless on the phone.
So the problem is.
The phone wont connect to my wireless network at home. I went to a friends house and tried to connect to his wireless network and connected without a problem.
When i go to the settings to the wireless connection i can se the following:
Scanning..
Connecting..
Obtaining IP adress from (wireless network name)..
Disconnected..
.. and then its start all over again.
So before i posted here i tried some things I thought would might help:
I restarted the Phone
I resterted my whole network system at home.
I set the phone back to manufactory settings.
I set my Router back to maufactory settings.
and after all this, it still doesnt work.
I went to a friend, to test if i could connect to his wireless network and i could.
The problem first started after the update as i already told you. I downloaded the update with from my wireless on my phone.
So i guess is something with my router or something? I have a Linksys WRT300N Wireless-n version 2.0 router.
Thanks in advance
Sincerly Joen
do you have security enabled on your wireless access point (routers) ? , if yes try to disable it and recheck if you can connect with your phone.
I am not sure if it's related to Froyo I had the same problem with 2.1

Yes i do have security enabled. and i already have tried disable the password from the acces point. Ill try to recheck it all again, but the problem started after the 2.2 update, and the wierd thing is im able to connect to other wireless networks. Its only my wireless network at home, im not able to connect to.
What did you do to solve the problem?
and thank you for the answer, i apreciate it.

[Q] Wifi connection

I just got my A7 Elocity and been trying to get it to reconize my Linksys wireless router I use in my home. SO far it is not reconizing it, my other tablet and wii does. It has done the scanning thing but still won't reconize it. Do I need to buy another wireless box? This one I got is several years old but has worked for everything except my wireless printer. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks, Brenda aka Mysterychi
Check how configured wireless network in your router.
- Don't use WEP keys - Android doesn't like it.
- Check wifi channel number - it must be not greater than 11
- Temporary try reconfigure your wifi-network to open mode (if it works, so add some security)
I purchased mine back on feb 1 I had same problem. My A7 was stuck in some kinda loop going back and forth from searching, authinticating, connected, and disconnecting the wifi. Once I did the firmware update from elocity it bingo no problems since. I think you need to just install the firmware from elocity support page.
I am using a wep key, no problem. Maybe i am just lucky

What length of key?
As WEP is so easy to break, give a shot using WPA2. I'm using a Cisco Valet and my tabs connect beautifully. Usually just using g but the throughput is dandy.

[Q] HTC TP2 Hotspot won't Connect Android Tablet

Hey Guys,
I just got a Motorola Xoom Tablet and it's not allowing me to use my mobile's hotspot to connect to the internet. I use my phone for everything. It even connects my laptop and all other devices.
My device is on WinMo 6.5 (HTC Tilt 2)
Can anyone help me solve this?
The issue is on your tablet. Android devices by default cannot connect to adhoc (non-infrastructure) networks.
I think with some supplicant hacks, your Xoom would be able to connect to an adhoc network.
The only problem is that the Xoom I have is the Family Edition. The bootloader is unlockable and there is no way around it as of now.
However, the wifi hotspot provided by an Android phone connects to the tablet without a problem. I just tried it on a friend's phone and it worked like a charm.
Would there be a cab/app that can change the mode of the wifi output on my WM phone?
It would suck to upgrade my cell phone just to have this work..

Just use Android then.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171052
AFAIK there's no way in WinMo to put up an infrastructure network. On Android all the third party wifi tethering solutions are adhoc as well, only the built-in wifi tethering app works as an infrastructure network.
Just be warned, the built-in wifi hotspot feature has a tendency to suck wind when you try to disable it. IIRC it works great up until that point.
I'll try this now and see what happens..
Thanks..

Have you had any additional luck?
I am running a TP2 with NRG and I have same issue trying to connect
an EVO View to the TP2.
Before I go changing phones (I like the TP2 for most of my biz stuff), I thought
I would try to find out if maybe you got an easy solution??
Thanks

Just use Android as I suggested as well. It will allow you to put up a native infrastructure AP, which you should be able to connect to on your Evo View.
Or, you can fix the Evo View to access ad-hoc networks. Either way.
